The T-pain government's propensity for dishonesty, particularly through the shameless Onanuga is alarming. Unfortunately, they often succeed in deceiving the people because many Nigerians refuse to read or even comprehend what they've read.
The South African president was merely highlighting initiatives implemented in recent years, which in fact, have been in place since the Buhari regime and not as a result of T-pain's visit to South Africa.
While propaganda might be effective as an opposition strategy, it falls short in governance. The people deserve transparency and honesty from their leaders. |

Its called study visa. Even being thousands of miles out, we make meaningful contribution to the Nigerian economy with the forex being sent to relatives monthly. Unlike you whose only contribution is to lick T-pain's poop stained arse. Not even that you get paid enough as assumed by some uniformed people here. Just fake promise of payment and appointment. Get a life dude, you're getting old UltraSolid:
Lol. Typical 'japa' idiocy and myopia. Getting Nigeria to work as things "work" where you are is the point of the painful reforms initiated by the Tinubu Presidency. How much, for example, do you pay for power supply where things "work"? How much are you utility bills, transport fare, petrol bill, taxes (which you cannot avoid as Nigerians do with ease) and even council tax, medicine prescription bills etc, etc?
Shey na student visas you take reach there? How much is your school fees there? Or can you and other Nigerians who have reached countries like the UK, via the student visas route, lie you did not sell everything you owned in Nigeria and even borrowed massively to get there with many Nigerians even struggling and going off-grid because they could not continue paying the high tuition fee instalment once over there?
You people are too myopic, bigoted and self-hating to understand the set-up where things "work" , like heavy taxation plus high utility and education bill for example, is what is responsible for things working over there.
Things will never "work" in Nigeria if we don't embrace the same set-up they have where things "work" you claim to now live in. You praise where thing "work" but reject what Nigeria must do to become like that. Yet you cannot see the Dog-chasing-it-own-tail mentality of your and your ilk. 2 Likes |

You want me to indulge a question that makes no economic sense and is oxymoronic? What is the point of comparing per capita economic of nations without accounting for the intrinsic economic strength of Nations which give rise to their per capita income?
Why will I engage you in such a refundant argument when I am literate per the considerations that determine the minimum wages of nations?
Why don't you first educate yourself about trade balance, i.e surplus or deficit, of nations and we can go from there using that as one of the considerations affectiing the comparative per capta income and minimum wages of nations? 5 Likes |

Oga, the simple question remains "what is Nigeria Minimum wage and the minimum wage of the first world country you mentioned"? You ended up writing an essay. After beating around the bush you still wrote "I just don't know what makes some of you comfortable comparing Nigeria to the West in 2024" Who started the comparison ? Your problem is you know many Nigerian people hardly read so you just write and write to confuse people. I don't blame those that insult you. UltraSolid:
What was the minimum wage of most European nations, after the devastation of the second World War? Zero in most cases as rebuilding was the agenda then. Same as rebuilding should be the agenda for Nigerians now if we are smart and realistic instead of thinking we should be comparibg the kia car we own to the finest Mercedes Benz our established neighbours has.
I consider those European nations, like the UK Etal, to be at the same level with Nigerian of today, or even better, after they emerged from the second world war.
For example, they had severely destroyed infrastructure, water supply problem, sanitation challenges, severely disrupted power supply etc etc. Is that not the State Nigeria is in today?
Some of you don't wish to accept reality when you simplistically compare Nigeria in 2024 to UK, France and Germany while never taking into account the national sacrifice the citizens of those nations made, in their most troubled days, to get where they are today.
I just don't know what makes some of you comfortable comparing Nigeria to the West in 2024. Perhaps you have never visited developed nation to note how far ahead they are and the effort and sacrifices everyone there, from leaders and followers, put in to create the nations we all now envy today and wish to 'japa' to.
Despite the severe destruction war caused, most of Europe was thriving by 1970 which was 25 years after the second World War ended in 1945. A testimony to the spirit and dedication of Europeans to see the big picture and make sacrifices to achieve it.
What progress has Nigeria and most African nation made since they gained independence 6 or more decades ago? Face reality. We are not ready. When we are, we will see the big picture and, like Europeans, we will be ready to make the appropriate sacrifice to get where we need to.
The challenges of Europe, after the war, spurred on Europeans to be innovation, hardworking and to seek local solutions for local problems . They embraced farming to eat. They gained skills to do more for themselves, like bricklaying and road construction, rather than expect their comatose economy to do it all for them. They embraced scientific research and innovation to provide solution and address challenges.
Our challenges, not caused by Tinubu, has only made Nigerians show the very opposite of the spirit that revived Europe after the war. Bretton Woods helped but ordinary European folks made the sacrificial difference. In contrast, Nigerians only know to complain and demand from the government without ever thinking they could and should be part of the solution. 2 Likes |

Mentioning Obi that supposedly came 3rd has already given you away as bat supporter or at the very least a sympathizer. You conveniently opened a new account after INEC declared bat winner and pretend to sit on the fence? Or playing the patriotic citizen? Why not show your former NL accounts let's see your honest inputs from 2012? Truth is that you and your kind are the real enemies of this country. The money looted in the name of palliatives, the billions to renovate VP house, the billions to buy yatch and cars and other frivolous travelling expenses will pay pms subsidy and change will remain. You're already above 40 or very close. Don't be a fool Sir. nairalanda1:
The truth is, if Obi won, fuel would be expensive now.
As at May 29 , 2003, NIgeria was using 99% of its revenue to service debt. Any money that would have been used to keep fuel below N300 or even below N200 would have had to come from taking more loans and more loans. Something had to give, and unfortunately it was the subsidy.
I am not here to say that tinubu is doing the right thing, especially since he has brought back subsidy since October 2023, otherwise fuel would have been over 1000 naira as it should be, and I am not here to say that APC knows better , but the fact is, we were in a position where we could no longer afford subsidy at the rate we were doing then.
Even now, we cannot afford subsidy.
All I would say is...in 2012, we had the last chance to be rid of subsidy. But most of you agreed ironically with Tinubu that it should remain....and here we are.
If we want more working refineries and more jobs in the petrol sector, we have to have fuel sold at market price. It is not a popular message. Yes, I am just as angry with the government , and yes, APC Has failed, and yes, Tinubu is not the best president we have had.
But right now, we are not earning enough money to pay for cheap stuff anymore. And it is very very painful
Calling me a tinubu supporter or a IMF Lackey does not change the sad fact. 6 Likes 1 Share |

One of the rare intelligent post on NL. Tinubu and his team should borrow a leaf here. But his goons are more concerned about Peter obi. adonainana:
I have said it again and again on this platform
DIVERSIFY THE ECONOMY
DIVERSIFY THE ECONOMY
CRUDE OIL IS A BLESSING A CURSE
THE CURSE IS MUCH MORE BRUTAL THAN THE BLESSING
I have said it here many many times on nairaland what Nigeria must do https://www.nairaland.com/7989133/naira-rebounds-banks-offload-excess/4#128260034
Convert all NYSC CAMPS into cash crops processing mega centres
Instead of corpers shouting corper wee wee up and down employ them to run these mega farms and produce Made in Nigeria cash crops
DO you know much land Nigeria has in the south
Till today I have never seen a crop in my life THAT CANNOT GROW IN NIGERIA.
Made in Nigeria bananas Made in Nigeria mangoes Made in Nigeria pineapples
Made in Nigeria cocoa
Even if it’s just one made in Nigeria something that is flooded European markets with
Then that’s all you need TO MAKE THE DOLLAR almost as strong as the naira .
The first paragraph just told you there was a time in Nigeria in 1980 where naira was stronger than dollar and that time Nigeria exported more than it imported and thus the favourable balance of trade even made it have 9 billion dollars extra
THIS IS NOT SOME ECONOMIC THEORY OR SOME TRIAL AND ERROR
DIVERSIFY THIS ECONOMY FOR GODS SAKE
LEAVE CRUDE OIL ALONE , humans eat and humans eat most crops , even cocoa that cannot be eaten directly It is needed for making chocolates coffee
THE NIGERIAN EXPORT SHOULD BE MERGED INTO NYSC , and nysc camps should be converted to these mega farms and tons and tons of crops should be processed to be shipped out
FG should go to European countries and lobby each country to buy even if it’s made in Nigeria bananas, that are being processed and prepared in advance from the NYSC camps .
Any embassy or country that doesn’t want these MADE IN NIGERIA products should be closed down
Any country that doesn’t mind buying Nigerian oil but when it comes to made in Nigeria products it’s reluctant is an enemy of Nigeria .
This is the only way NIGERIA CAN escape poverty
PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN READ THIS
PLS I BEG YOU IN THE NAME OF GOD I AM FROM THE FUTURE . NIGERIA BECAME WORSE THAN WHAT IT CURRENTLY IS RIGHT NOW
NIGERIA pls diversify this company all oil licenses of any oil company should be revoked and tax free concessions given to AGRICULTURAL companies
Nigeria please leave crude oil alone
Sunshine is free Rainfall is free Photosynthesis is free
These are the 3 things you need to grow any cash crop in the whole world and feed the whole world if you are serious with it
YOU CAN SELL ANYTHING TO EARN FOREX IN THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET , it’s not only refined oil you sell there
Please convert all Nysc camps into these mega farms and start churning out tons of materials to earn good money outside
NIGERIA PLS LEAVE CRUDE OIL ALONE
THE UK import bananas all the way from Panama and South Africa
Please which country is closer to the uk.
How big is Panama and how much land does South Africa that tescos stores in the uk import all the way down South Africa for bananas
Why can’t there be made in Nigeria bananas
Why this oil curse for Gods sake
How much green land do we have in the south of Nigeria that bananas fresh good ones can’t be planted to be exported in tons
Convert all nysc camps to farms now , double allawee to corpers that want to work leave the ones who don’t want to go and be looking for thier oil corporate jobs
After converting the nysc camps into mega farms Merge nysc and the Nigerian export council and EXPORT all your wahala and earn cool forex
Find a country and export good fresh foods to this country
No one can tell me this is impossible If elections materials can get to every nook and cranny of this country
You can’t tell me state sponsored Mega farms are impossible
ALL THE TRILLIONS SAVED FROM FUEL SUBSIDY. Invest it in agriculture and become a sole supplier of foreign countries different types of food
Tomatoes Peepers Cashews Bananas Carrots
Do you know how much crops you can grow for free and make FREE DOLLARS FOR free
Who told these guys oil is the only thing you can sell
Once again scroll back up and check the first paragraph soemthing used to happen to Nigeria before 1980
After 1980 it got carried away and chased something which is crude oil
And 50 years later Nigeria life has never remained the same
Please diversify this economy now
Besides carrots takes 3 months to grow Cucumbers etc
There are some crops that if Nigerian becomes a sole exporter to selected foreign countries growing them would be light work
Infact self nnpc should be forced to buy shares in this new mega farms
Leave oil alone

Una go explain tire. Nigeria isn't bigger than any individual, but it was a single person who made a thoughtless statement on inauguration, plunging millions into hardship. This same one individual floated the naira, leading us to our current predicament. Now, you're pointing fingers at opposition supporters for gloating in having fore warned you. Let me ask again: 1. How does the joy of opposition supporters impact the economic situation? 2. When will you criticize your perplexed, incompetent god who built Lagos? The gravest aspect of this situation is the exorbitant cost of the dollar, yet one can't access it. Cards remain restricted. Babalegba: I was making the point in that post that most nigerians are too stupid to understand that Nigeria is bigger than one man or a party and unfortunately you had to prove me right. I'm committed to the center left politically and Tinubu has not shown himself to be ideologically bent that way.In 2016 after winning the Nevada caucus Trump declared that he love the poorly educated ,acknowledging that the poorly educated gave him victory so stupidity exists everywhere The schadenfreude exhibited by the opposing camp when naira nosedived is sickening since Tinubu being a dollar billionaire will not even feel the effect.Stupidity stalls countries. 4 Likes |
