TV/Movies / Re: Link 65: New TV Station In Lagos by SEGA(m): 3:58pm On Apr 11, 2007
twinstaiye:

The TV station is HITV, they have even won the bid for EPL.
Bid for Territory 70, which is the Nigerian market, made separate from the rest of Africa by the Premiership owners, opened last Monday in the United Kingdom. Of the seven companies which submitted bids from Nigeria, Vanguard can authoritatively reveal that HITV has been favoured to win nearly 70 per cent of the total package, to the disadvantage of some well known broadcast companies. Read the rest in this link http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/sports/november06/13112006/sp213112006.html
Hi All,
Just a quick clarification, HITV has got nothing to do with Link 65 UHF (now G 65 or GoTel). It must have been a mix up somewhere.
Besides, most of the movies shown on the channel are without permission (24, friends etc), The authorities are on the watch and will soon be on them (they had better take lessons from DBN). if the viewers love them, let them be advised to go legit or face the wrath of the law and go down the drain.

Nigeria will surely be cleansed.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: FG Bans DSTV From Airing English Premiership by SEGA(m): 12:19pm On Apr 01, 2007
Hi Folks,
This is just a hint, HITV has got nothing to do with link 65 okay (the one on UHF)? HITV is operating a digital terrestial transmission lincensed by NCC and can only be received via their Decoders and Antennas no other way out. Alaba boys or no, let them try and see if they will make any success with the current encryption put in place by HITV. grin
Music/Radio / Re: Do You Create Musical Beats? by SEGA(m): 10:32am On Apr 01, 2007
Hi Folks,
Nice ideas you guys are pros. Candidly, I'll suggest cool edit pro for any voicing and then import into fruity loops or any other software you are using. The thing with cool edit pro is that you can master your voice input perfectly well with it before you export to other software.
Alternatively, you can import your finished sound track into cool edit pro (now Adobe Audition), on one track and choose various tracks for the different verses of your song, the pro way, have fun.
9ja4eva, welcome to pro world.

Hi All,
Beeman sure is a wonderful listener and an ideal Nigerian, ready to give any situation another chance. If only you were contesting for president,I would have voted you in without further ado.
Following Beeman's example, let us all give growth a chance to better our Nation as whole in all sector. Let us ask why foreigners are pouring into this country to exploit us and we aiming relentlessly to escape to their country for nothing (actually to litter their economy).

Nigeria is great and this will manifest as soon as we change our value system by believing in ourselves. Let the 'affirmative action' begin (a phenomenon of developing ourselves intellectually through dessemination of information, education and awareness at all levels).

As always, TIA (This Is Africa)! We are surely blessed.
Thanks for the Time folks

Beeman:

I think it a matter of Intergrity. I am not against a new nigerian station. What I am pissed with is the fact that they are not fulfilling their promises. Nigerians too should learn not to promise what we cannot deliver. When you do that, you raise hopes and expectations. And when you fail, people get disappointed.
I personally went to their office and even introduced my friends. They told us they are still working on their channels and that is why they will not start billing yet. They said this is their testing period and closing deals on stations to transmit.

I paricularly bought it because of sports and movies. those are the two things I watch. sometimes documentary.
My friends that I introduced are also complaining.

I don't put sentiment into things like this. In believe in having value for my money. Why should I be paying for what I am not enjoying. I'm sorry I don't subscribe to that.

I had to insert my smart card over the weekend 'because they stations were scrambled.

Secondly, Sega told us that their network is not weather dependent. That is not true. The rain of the last two days disrupted their signal. The moment the rain started, I lost signal. It dropped to 15% and nothing showed until the rain stopped. I called my friends to confirm that my dish had not shifted out of position and they confirmed the same thing. So this raining season that is already here will surely disrupt our reception.

If they can work on this it will be very good else it will be a "little fox in their vine".

Gentlemen of the forum (and ladies if any), I must say that Beeman must be very pissed at the present state of HITV's startup or rollout if I may say, which is natural and expected (hey, we all work for our money and do not intend to burn or waste it on things that does not bring fulfilment). But let us be mindful that these things take time and I'm sure they are working on it. I bought too you know, even introduced many of my folks to the network, we have some issues too but the way we go about it differs.

I'm an internationally trained broadcast Engineer (France), and this particular solution deployed by HITV has been tested even by my firm in France in several climatically hazardous regions of the world (Vietnam, Lyon, Emirates etc) without any recorded failure.
I'm not saying that you are not giving a true account of your experience, but let us question your installation before drawing conclusions on the technology.
1. Is your antenna hanging on a pole higher than 15 or 20 feet? this of course you will agree will dangle in heavy torrents of wind storm during rain.
2. Where are you feeding from? is it farther than 10km from where you stay? if your repeater station has signal then there is no reason why you should lose signal. As a matter of fact, during the heavy torrents of the early hours of the 26th of March, (Monday). i was still receiving the signals, at least for about 30 - 45 mins till PHCN  seized power. The laze of going out in the rain to start the Gen prevented me from testing further.
So sir, let us verify things properly before drawing conclusion.
In your case, I may help solve the mystery of what stole your signal if you can tell me your area and where your installer picked the signals from. I'm sure HITV Field operators will look into this ASAP.

I don't own shares in HITV, (though hope to in future) but I just love my country and wish to uphold its honour and Glory. I also want to be the voice in the wilderness saying make way, Beeman, cheer up, your movies and sport as well as an uninterrupted signal delivery (be it in rainstorms or Fire & Brimestone) will be delivered without fail, just believe it and it shall be, remember we are gods on earth exercising dominion,
I will get back to you on further investigations as regards my earlier assertion I will surely help your case. However, if HITV is guilty of witholding any info from the public, you will be first to know.

Besides, the rights acquired by HITV does not permit their transmitting Free to Air so let's ease up on the anger towards their scrambled channels.

Peace I'm out

Hey Guys,
why don't we organise an exhibition of Beatworks? featuring various talents in the industry a least let us know each other, the pros and the upcoming. this will do us a lot of good in developing the industry. At least we can get to invite the likes of timberland and co someday to see what we have made out of their influence here in Africa.

I await your response meen, it's time we wake up.

Hi guys,

I use Fruityloops, mix meister, cooledit pro, cakewalk, Sonar, Garage band etc and have been for the past six years. I have worked with lots of studios and producers like cobhams and the rest in Nigeria and a couple of others in France. I would be willing to render any assistance to anyone who is willing to learn or trade. we once floated a network called beatworks in an alliance with some other talented beatmasters, but our environment fraustrated the efforts.

I'm looking at another opportunity of educating folks now on the recent softwares that will paint the music industry red. I currently score music soundtracks for pay TV channels, websites as well as very rich upcoming artistes. I don't come cheap due to the quality of my work as well as the time spent on perfecting the work.

Hit me back and let me know you request.

Hi All,
With all due respect and I say this with all sense of responsibility, let us all be patient in passing judgment on brands that are inspired to change or at least make a difference to our current horizon. I have personally realized that one of the reasons why things don't get better in Nigeria is simply because we don't believe in ourselves.

HITV needs all the support it can get from all of us, at least some people are using their money and influence to better their nation through redeeming same from the jaws of colonialism and iconoclastic business predators from all over the world. Rather than sit and criticize woefully, why not ask yourself what you are doing for Nigeria to better its stance. if you ain't doing anything yet, why not support by contributing your quota to that which is presently being done.

Today it is the TV/broadcast sector, tomorrow it may be in tourism or what have you. I still want to congratulate HITV for the journey so far, if you think it's easy try this even at home!

I'm sure folks working in HITV would read all these someday (good or bad), it will make them improve on their services, let's just give them a chance. They did not present themselves as wolves but as an alternative, (see subscription details viz-a-viz that of their counterpaths) and this is just the beginning.

If a six months old baby is picking a fight with a 15 year old in a terrain that gives ample advantage to the older contingent, the least the younger would expect from spectators should be support and not criticisms, remember when David was pitched against Goliath, people who could not support by hailing him in his seeming suicidal mission, watched in awe as things unfolds, and that will be my submission, if you ain't got much support to offer these people other than whining and babbling, sit back, relax and watch them in victory. wink

This is Africa! (TIA)
TV/Movies / Stardom, Fame & Its Associated Vanities (lessons To Be Learnt) by SEGA(m): 8:53pm On Mar 04, 2007
Hi All,
Have you ever wondered why most celebrities no matter how successful, eventually lose it all? Ever wondered why icons like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Elvis Prestley, Mike Tyson etc became a shadow of themselves? These are no mere coincidences, there are surely lessons to be learnt here, even for me and you, as our own celebrity, stick around and let's take a peep into some case studies together, this will blow your mind.

Case study 1: Do you know that Mike Tyson made a whooping 300 Million Dollars and lived large, with cars, party and all but recently filed for bankcrupcy? try to convert that sum into Naira for size and see the effect that would have on you if you were to lose that much? More to come, stay tuned and share your views.

Hi All,
4 Play mentioned something quite correct, Dstv has no competitor as at then and was enjoying the African monopoly especially with exclusivity on the Premiership, National Geography and the likes, but just as it was during the colonial rule, some are still of the opinion that we were better off then than post independence. ( as likened to the Isrealites' prefernece of Life in Egypt to their promise Land).

When you are old and strong enough to ask for the reason for your present situation, I see no reason why you shouldn't.
HITV has come to stay, and come the next season (from August) the premeirship is theirs according to the bid they won for Africa. So, no HITV Decoder/Antennas, no Premiership for sport lovers especially in Nigeria.

TIA (This is Africa!)
no more rip offs, slave trade is now only by choice!

TV/Movies / Re: Hitv & It's Relevance In The Nigerian Broadcast Economy by SEGA(m): 12:20am On Mar 02, 2007
Hi All,
In answering mufikins questions, according to my findings,HITV have the following channels launched as enumerated below: Nigezie (a high quality Nigerian music channel), Hi mix (movie and serial channel), Hi Nolly (Nigerian movie channel), Hi Sports (sport channel with rights to show LIVE Laliga, EUFA champions league, EPL (from next season), Serie A etc), Hi Kids (Kiddieprogramme/cartoon channel),Hi Life (a family entertainment /inspirational channel, catch a funfilled session of your favourites comedies (Goodtimes with Jayjay, The Jeffersons, intereting Flashbacks of significant history, Single and Married with PBO, Creflo Dollar Ministries etc), LTV 8, DoveVision, God Africa, E! , Nickolodeon, Fox Sports, MTV Base, LBC, ART Movie World,BBC world, CNN ,Hi Ovation amongst other channels awaiting approval from the NBC,

It was however gathered that there would not be any price increase even when new channels are added (still 3k per month) as the vision of the firm is principally to give Nigerians a fairer alternative to world class technology via digital Tv broadcast and information at an affordable price.

In fairness to Lelele's view I must say that proper care need be taken before swallowing another pill as DSTV has wiped out several competitors (the likes of FSTV, TITV, just to  mention a few) owing to the fact that they (the competitors) chose to battle a shark at sea without the mastery of the element of survival in the enemy's natural environment.

Dstv is widely experienced and successful in the Satellite environment and until a proper, well structured financial base is established as a backbone for any firm who intends to compete, coupled with an ideal vision to provide for the masses a need, success would only be apparent and subsequently the business would fizzle out with time.

The wisdom of HITV can be likened to that described in the scriptures when God pitched the DEVIL against the LAMB. Although, the lamb was slained for the restoration of the souls of men and later resurrected never to know death after the defeat of the later. HITV never came to war with sword and shield but with a sling and stones, they operated on terrestrial and not satellite yet delivered quality signals void of rain fade effect when the weather changes.

Just as the revolution in the broadcast Industry is taking place, that of the political sector would follow till the entire nation is completely redeemed, I personally welcome this development not because of any subjective reasons but simply because of the theory of Apocalipsis which simply depicts a new beginning after the end of an era, may the soul of DSTV rest in perfect peace with effect from August this year when their rights to the premiership is extinguished and HITV commences their transmission of same all over Africa exclusively, be a partaker now or run the risk of the apocalyptic rush come the new season. I have chosen and my choice is clear (and you sure know I ain't talking about Sprite! grin)
wink
Cheers

Hi All,
In answering Beeman, I got the HITV decoder installed at my place and would tell you the clearity is awesome! The BBC, CNN, E! and MTV Base channels are clearer than that of their counterpart and what's new? During rainstorms where we experience fades and loss of signals on DsTv and other networks, HITV remain crisp and clear with no rain fade effect, for this alone I will buy another copy in my office at least the subscription is just N3,000.
Cheers
