Business / Re: Bill Gates Beware: Warren Buffet Is The #1 by seyiox(m): 3:47pm On Jun 19, 2008
let me ask you simple question? would you rather be richest man in the world warren buffets age or second richest at bill gates age?
question 2. bill gates was the longest on that post surely you dont expect him to stay forever.
I'd gladly be in gates position than in buffet -
less publicity and more space to carry on with my life.

Finally, Buffet being number only means he;s currently earning more than bill gates and not that gates is earning less than he used to>>>

Have fun!

I dont think it's about who's prophesying doom: before i started this thread, i had a heated argument with my friends on whether or not styl plus will remain together. the reason why it's important to speculate is that the growth of music in this country depends a lot on the consistency of good music.

while it's a known fact that they are talented musicians, they do nothing if after a while the split up without ever havin to hit the international scene. In the case of tu-face, he did make some waves in the international music industry but that cannot last long and do you know why? it's because there is no big deal in one music talent doing well - after a while we all get tired of seeing the same face and hearing the same voice and thier kind of music becomes a fad.

While in some cases, it's not true in most, this is the case.

@Bolaji4349
for your first question (the cisco "wahala" and using linux instead) : that's the idea behind quagga (iptables is also there). Using a linux box to act as router.

About the one on IPsec with windows and linux i think i can help out there so lemme do some homework nd expect my reply.

lastly thanks for the help on MAN but i have some issues wit wireless though

Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by seyiox(m): 4:48pm On May 15, 2006
@darkmanzero

that might be a good idea but having no idea of what distro or desktop enviromment he's using, figured the CLI is the best way

i've kinda gotten used to using commands since i constantly work on different flavours of linux in ma lab.

@SADDAM

yeah i forgot to mention, there are easier methods of connecting - graphically, so dont hesistate to explore.

@SADDAM

well yeah on my fedora system, it was painless. i did it cuz my modem was connected to the standard serial port. (RS232). Here are the steps:

run wvdialconf
<if all goes well it should detect your modem and give it and INIT string.>

Then vi /etc/wvdial.conf: Then uncomment name,phone fields and replace with your own info

save the file and voila!!

run wvdial and try you should be up

you may need to point you default gw and dns to your ISPs

first try using a graphical internet connection tool though (is easier)

i will send u a mail on a more detailed step and posible problems u might encounter if u send me your info

@chxta you're the don
that's the best networking question asked on this site (apart from mine grin grin)

Yep so chxta to get a lot out of linux networking, do this:
Install quagga,
get like 3 net cards
get a small material on SLIP (Serial Line IP)
and u know what, you have a mini cisco router there to play with

nice right? well i'm yet to try it.
Computers / Re: Networks by seyiox(m): 4:30pm On May 10, 2006
IPv6 was included in the CCNP routing exams i tooks a while back - though not more than 3 or so. I also visited some Cisco forums where people says IPv6 questions were asked but like r00t said get thier syllabus from the site.

A good networking question is that How best do we implement MAN (metroplitan area networks) i,e like city wide networks without having to use companies like GTE for thier cabling? cuz that's what many do now and they run into problems with thier clients when these "telcos" fail to maintain thier networks.

Manta:

I don't pray nor anticipate their break up though but incase it happens, it's still part of the game.

Word man! i think i like that very much cuz that's the truth. though that brings me to my next concern. Can we have a nigerian boyzIImen? or do you think that boyzIImen can ever split. (even if they still keep releasing hits)

Deb deb are you serious!! ok then let me trust you oh ,

, really i tried but this is too difficult
who made more impact when they started out. Plantashun boiz or styl-plus. b honest in your selection and you will see the same thing i see.

sweets:

:owa! seiyiox, that is really something. what do u mean they are on the road to a breakup? just when i have discovered them??
groups don't stay together, its like a fairytale marriage, cracks normally appear even before the weding!!!
unless the group is already exibiting signs of cracks and yawning gaps?

truth be told. i like styl plus. they 've got good voices. but what i foresee is even worse that just a break up. I think they'll become a fad. people will just get tired of them cuz thier music (in my opinion) isn't well formed. They sounded like a bunch of guys trying to find out what kind of music they wanna sing in Xpressions.
Programming / Re: Anybody Conversant With QT GUI Toolkit? by seyiox(m): 11:12am On Apr 24, 2006
Nwoke:

What about QT is pissing you off? Is it the price of the more important Windows version?

no it's not like that but i have working gui applics written in qt ( on my slackware ), but as soon as try to run them in fedora, it doesn't work. As if that's not enough i tried copying the source <from slack> so i could compile in fedora but it still gave problems.

I know they might be different <minor> version but the both use qt3 so it should not be a problem.

And no i dont even have plans of using qt (or writing any application) for windows
Music/Radio / Re: Will Styl-plus End Up Like Other Boy Bands? by seyiox(m): 3:44pm On Apr 19, 2006
i was hoping they wont but since i heard Xpressions, i'm quite certain they will

Phones / Re: Starcomms' Credit-Eating Fraud by seyiox(m): 12:45pm On Apr 07, 2006
In asmuch as i am not in support of the manner he put it, I'll have to agre with redboar.
I mean if you are a starcomms user, you will understand thier bitterness.
Those who subscribed for starcomms internet know that it is a dialup line as as such paid for it but even for a dial up cnxn. Starcomms is way below standard. That's not even the issue i want to raise.

Its about the credit eatng fraud. I'm surprised that no one has experience their latest MADNESS. After 2 or 3 months without charging, my line will be disconnected and i have to pay =N=2500 (or thereabout) to recover it and even at that, i dont keep my previous line number. Which other PTO does such rubbish.

I mean i travel so when i'm on a trip, should what i'm thinking be "ye i haven't rechargend my phone"? presently i'm disconnected ad i don't think i want to pay that crap. I'm even thinking of writing to those consumer rights people sef.

Religion / Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by seyiox(m): 12:04pm On Apr 06, 2006
i believe we should pay our tithes.
The reason many have opposed the idea on this posting is that they fear what pastors will do with it.

Que.
If you think your pastor is that greedy then why do is he still your pastor?
How come you're so interested in your pastor only when it comes to money matters?
If you decided to give your tithes to the poor. How come the command to give your tithe and to give to the poor are completely different?
If your pastor is really greedy, why you feel you are they one to react by not giving your tithe? Or God cannot defend his own again?

I believe that if you wanted to analyse every things in the bible, you'll finally find a reason to sin. That's because you finding a way to align what is written to what you feel should have been written.

Forgive my being blunt.
Programming / Anybody Conversant With QT GUI Toolkit? by seyiox(m): 5:08pm On Apr 05, 2006
QT is a C++ GUI programming applics that has found majority usage on linux platform but is available for windows too. Ok i went into it a while back but its pissing me off.
So if there's and expert on this who might want to convince me to stay, i'm all ears

Music/Radio / Re: Kennis Music: Best Musical Record Label In Nigeria? by seyiox(m): 1:24pm On Apr 05, 2006
if kennis music was the only musical record label in nigeria, they still wont be the best!

It not just about how many artists you have or how popular you are but how the impact your music makes in the entertainment industries while under ur record label. here's kennis music style other media houses discover and promote the artiste, artiste becomes a star, kennis music signs you up at a higher cost, then they WRECK you.

Tu-Face please take care!!!
Music/Radio / Will Styl-plus End Up Like Other Boy Bands? by seyiox(m): 1:18pm On Apr 05, 2006
when plantashun boiz came up we all said they were da bom. Sorry let me go back in time. Remedies - the best thing that happened to hip-hop in nigeria or so we thought but today where are they? Look at the boy-bands we have, they always have the same destination and i think that's where style plus is headed.
Of course its not restricted to nigeria, imean we've got nsync, backstreet boys, plus one and tons of others too.
Computers / Re: Linux or Windows Operating System? by seyiox(m): 11:47am On Apr 05, 2006
i've been using linux for the past four years and since then my cdrom drive hasn't "touched" a windows installation CD. Anyway my point is this linux is fast and it gives you so much flexibility that you will overlook some minor issues with it (i.e you actually need to learn). The real reason why i feel nigerian PC users should migrate to linux is this if you cant afford to get an original windows OS with all the packeges ORIGINAL and not "otigba". Then move to linux 'cause you probably will get the same and you won't be drawn into this software piracy madness. Face it! windows says you are pirating my software and i will sue you but the keep allowing you to go on that way you become so dependent on windows. That what i call e-slavery.
