Hello y'all

Just wondering, how far apart can someone's bank statement can be from the day it was printed out to biometrics date? Like many days or weeks apart can be reasonable?

Thanks in advance

ya guys are really doing a great work here. Keep the good spirit going and hope to see y'all at the next Nigeria independence parade, depending on the state u are in the U.S. grin

bunmixtra:

please can one go with an old I20 resumption was for middle of this year and attach with a cover letter through email from school stating new resumption date as my new I20 is yet to be gotten and my interview is on d 5th of Dec

@ Bunmixtra, you will definitely need a valid I20 for both your interview and when u wanna enter the U.S. The same thing happened to me. My I20 expiration date falls to the date of my interview, so i asked my admission officer for a cover letter but she told me the cover letter wont work, that i will need a new I20. Fortunately i got my visa with the current I20 so i was sent another I20 to enter the US since the previous one expired on my interview date. You gonna need a valid I20 for both your interview and entry into the U.S. No back up letter can work.

Have a good time y'all.

1) Saying "I has", not knowing the correct spelling of "clue", using present tense where you should have used past, and your composition in general, is a clear indication that the school made a mistake in waiving TOEFL for you. If you make it obvious in front of the VO, then you got a problem.

2) Just to be safe, since you have a lot of time before going for your interview, why can't you write TOEFL?

3) I think you should schedule your interview a little later.

4) You have to improve your English before going for your interview.

So funny why people are afraid and hate the young lady at counter 1 in the Lagos consulate. I think i like her. She was the one that interviewed me and i got my visa. Even though the interview was lengthy and she asked many questions. Well, I thank God i made it. This explains that you guys going for your interview soon at the Lagos consulate should be well prepared as you cant predict the consular that will interview you. Good luck y'all

@HOUSE: I was asked to come on Friday for the passport. But I've read of folks here picking theirs the next day. Can I go tomorrow? WIll it be ready then?

Also, my I-20 was retained. Am I getting it in the pick-up envelope?

Congrats bruv. You made it at last. I would advise you to go for the passport pick up at the specified date by the consular as you may be disappointed if you go earlier, though I know you will be kinda anxious which is normal, lolzz. Believe me, it happens to me too. Concerning the I-20, it will be returned to you upon pick up of your visa. My I-20 too was retained when my visa was granted but it was returned to me on passport pick up. Congratulations once again and enjoy your stay in the US.

babatulla:

Went for my interview in lagos yesterday and it was quite a painful experience for me,

Couldn't print my sevis receipt online before my interview, but payment was already made.

My appointment was for 7a.m got to the consulate around 6:15 / 6:20 a.m. Was called in for the regualar checks and all, behold, my visa application receipt wasn't with me, was given 90 Mins to go get it. Dashed home like a mad dog, had to even take a bike back to the consulate to avoid running out of 90 Mins. I understand they do interview just one set on Fridays, nothing like 10a.m apptment. Made it there before the 90Mins elapsed. Was part of the last 10 to be interviewed. My tally number was 127 that last person's number was 134.

My interview went lyk this
V.O : Hello
Me: Good Morning

VO: pass me your documents
Me: passed him my i20 and docs,
V.O: where r u going to ?
Me: Bleep state univ.

VO: and u r going for masters in ?

Me : as a graduate of Systems engineering, I have foundational knowledge in technological and managerial issues and how highly sophisticated systems are interconnected and made to function well.mcis will further equip me with relevant skills in business and computing.I'll be able to function well in any varying business environment.
V.O: any travelling experience ?
Me : yes, been to joburg SA and Dubai UAE.
V.O : I'm sorry I cannot issue you a visa today. Reasons written on the form given to u,

Abeg wetin I do wrong ?, the guy no check transcript, e no check anything, he just dey deny ppl, he just came there to assist other V.Os ni, how I wish I was interviewed by the lovely ladies in window 1 and 2. Comments pls.

Sorry about your denial bruv, you can always give another shot. Were you interviewed by the black guy at the consulate? In fact, all the male consular at the consulate are mean. I was lucky to get interviewed by the lady on spectacles at window 1 and i got the visa. I am sure you will get the visa, if you do not give up. God be with you

@HOUSE: My interview is for 10 am. Should I get there by 7 am or just chill till 9 am? Please those who went to LAGOS for interviews recently, pls reply.

@HOUSE: Recent applicants to the LAGOS EMBASSY, please identify who the consulars are and if there's anyone like the chinko woman in ABUJA to avoid?

Since your interview is 10 am, I dont see any point in you getting there as early as 7 am. You will have to hang somewhere till 9:50 am when they start calling 10 am applicant so its advisable to get there around 9:30. And also, I'm not sure if you could avoid consulars in the Lagos consulate. You will be given a ticket with a number at the interview center entrance. The computer will call your ticket number when it get to your turn, to go to the next available consular for your interview. Your ticket number will appear on a screen at the consular post already so i dont think you will be able to avoid it. If you dont stand up when they call ur ticket number, they make skip you and you may not have the chance to get interviewed again. Just pray for the best result from any consular u are directed to. Good luck buddy.

OK - This is how my interview went. I got to the consulate at 10:00 PM, went in immediately and passed through the security checks. When i got into the interview center, I am to pass through another security check so i was called by a lady in window 8. She checked my DS-160 form and informed me that there was an error with my name that i should go and fix it in 30 min. I quickly rushed out to a cybercafe, got it fixed and entered for my interview back. I was called by another woman and i passed the security check this time. One funny thing that i observed was that my passport and my i20 was not returned to me after the checks, and i noticed that they return it to others. I just sat down waiting for the thumb print guy to call me to come and collect my passport, not until i heard the computer announced my ticket number to go to window 5 for the interview. I stood up with courage and to my surprise, my passport and other docs is with the lady to interview me already. I made a quick silent prayer cos i was expecting the call that fast. My ticket number is 124 and they were still attending to people with ticket 105. just wondering why the call my ticket number that fast and why they give the VO my passport and not returning it to me. The interview went thus

Me: Good morning maam
VO: Good morning

VO: It appears that you want to go and study in the US
Me: Yes maam

why do you choose to study in the US
Well, I am going into aviation and i believe they have the best training equipment for me

I explained

Did you fly an airplane there?
No, we were just instructed, but i will be thought how to fly an airplane in the US

Oh OK, So why do you choose your sch in the US
(I think in my mind say sebi u don ask before abi u no get memory ni, but i no get choice i just tell her again)

Yes maam

I explained

@ Ojap, you may actually think I am lying about working with my dad but i can confirm the sincerity of it. I stayed with my dad immediately after my high school and I spent some years there. I dont see any reason i would be lying to the VO about that when i have the document to back it up and I can even explain on anything about the business. Come to think of it, If I now lied to the cons about doing a total different thing when I dont even have any documents to back it up and cant explain on it, that would be a total mess. So I prefer telling the truth and I know God will favor me one day with my sincere application.

@ Superbrain: The amount in my I - 20 is 43k USD and the course is just for a year. The balance in the statement is over 30M, both on my first trial and second - even though the consulars dont even check the bank statement in both interviews. My Dad is into Lumbering, all this wood processing stuffs and he have a big functioning sawmill. I was just encouraged to know about the family business, being the only son so I worked in his company from 2003 to Dec 2008. I later proceeded into an aviation sch here in Nigeria from the period of 2009 to 2010. After finishing the course and having my certificate, I started my US school application.

@ Superbrain, This was how the whole thing went. I applied into Phoenix East Aviation school. I am actually going for a professional piloting course. I am to start my training in March and I have all the necessary documents from them. I have all other documents too, like my aviation school certificates, High school certificates and Testimonial, my popman bank statement, Company's certificate of incorporation, Tax clearance certificate, his company's letterhead sponsorship letter, Letter from the bank, Sevis receipt print out as well as my own property docs too. I was scheduled for my first interview on Jan 18 in ABJ at 1.00 PM. I got there and follow the norm protocols. unfortunately, there was only 1 consular attending to people which is the famous strict Chinese Lady so i have no choice than to face her. She has refused up to 7 applicants before me. when it was my turn, I stood up with courage, and silent prayer within my mind and went to her. She asked me lot of complicated questions and i started stumbling. I have forgotten most of the questions she asked but i could remember they are tough questions. She didn't even check any of my docs. Eventually, i was denied the visa and i went out of the embassy. I traveled back to my base and started thinking of the way forward. I planned to reapply then I checked the VFS website on the following day. I got a date for February 11 in ABJ. I booked the date immediately and I started preparing myself. I used all the documents for my previous application for the second one as well, It was only my popman bank statement that was updated.

On the day for my second interview, I went to the embassy with all normal docs like my I 20, credentials, as well as my Dads Bank statement, company's certificate of incorporation and tax clearance. I used my Dad as the sponsor. This was how my interview went

VO: What are you going to do in the US?

Me: I am going there to study.

VO: Can i see your I - 20?

Me: Sure (I showed him and he went through it)

VO: When did you finished from high school?

Me: I finished 2002

VO: What have you been doing since then.

Me: I worked in my Fathers company. I happened to be the only son of the family so i was advised to know about the family business. I worked with him for some years. After knowing all about the business, I requested that i want to go for my preferred career and it was granted by my Father. Then I proceed into the aviation school.

VO: So do you go to any school here?

Me: Yes, I went to an aviation school

VO: Can i see your transcript?

Me: I showed him

VO: Can you explain the piloting course?

Me: I explained.

He now asked me to do a fingerprint which i did.

VO: I'm sorry I wont be able to issue you the visa this time.

I just pack my docs and get out from his face but I kept wondering the reason for my denial.

Is there anyplace that i am to be corrected cause i still have the intention of re-applying. Please get back to me with any advise.

Please forgive any typo and error, I am sending this from my phone. Regards

@ omotohhawt. Everyone there at the embassy was asked to do the fingerprint that day, either u were given the visa or not. Also, I have been firstly interviewed like 3 weeks ago but it was on this same admission process. That was my first trial. The information is still the same, no difference.

@ Layric - I have added you up in a way of freshpink007. Please lets chat. I have the mind of going for another interview next week. The funny thing is that there is no interview date available at the VFS website and I think of using the expedited interview but there was a note that says that the emergency interview is not for people that has been refused a visa in the last six month. I dont know what to do bro.

@Denio215. I cant say this is the specific reason I was denied. He asked me questions and I answered correctly. I was able to demonstrate my course to him. He asked for my I-20 and school documents which i showed him. All he would say was that he cannot give me the visa this time. I'm so confused {He dey do me make i slap him from the glass, lol}, but really its pissing.

@House, I want to know if schools can send documents to embassy on a student behalf. I think if they can do so, It would make the visa process easier. Please Let me know your opinions about this.
