TV/Movies / Re: Avatar, Insult Or Exaltation To Nigeria by sirgai(m): 3:02pm On Mar 10, 2010 |
This topic may seem stupid but if the way the whole world particularly America sees us is anything to go by, the present state of non-leadership, the Jos and Niger Delta thingy, someone mentioning going on 2 military tours (thats 1 year active military participation) in Nigeria in a futuristic movie should tell us that some people either think there's going to be a war in Nigeria sometimes soon or they are working to ensure that the war happens. either way, i think we should all be worried and be on the look out. |

Religion / Re: What Do Arab Christians Call God? by sirgai(m): 6:21pm On Oct 26, 2007 |
@ davidylan, God ( by whatever name you call him) CANNOT DIE. If yours came to eartyh and then tasted death (which he created by the way) then you are correct that can not be the same Creator of heaven, earth and all there is that Arabs (its just a language bro!) call Allah. And the capital G thing, as you can see grammar even affects the God spelling, so its just that, language. And i understand your firm stand on your faith, its good. i mean if your pastor came upon sunday with a salamu alaykun greeting in church wouldnt you think he was possesed? live your faith bro, God (Allah, Chi, Olorun, Jehova) etc) knows whom best serve him. |
Family / Re: Your Husband in The Labor Room During Childbirth? by sirgai(m): 3:21pm On Aug 09, 2007 |
for those who were there during childbirth, i salute your courage (even though i fear you had a "side game" for the months after), for those who'dlove to, i say, prepare your mind for what follows. for the ladies, youj ust want him there because you need someone to blame for the pain and you want him to see. (honestly, you dont "need" him there) for me, my first son and my second twin boys were born with me outside the labour room, the midwife didnt want me in, i didnt want me in and my wife knew why. i'm a creative person and my mind creates a lot, a bit too realistically sometimes, so when i think of (just think o) something that large coming out of my wife's, i go off sex! just turns off. 7 months after our first son, i didnt touch or even think sex with my wife ( and i didnt get a side game either!). she didnt like it. the twins case is different however, my imaginations is under control, but i still dont want to be in there if we're having any more babies. a big "if" lets just say,its psychological. call me what you will. |

an image i worked on for a book cover. its a combination of hand drawing with Photoshop work. and unlike what many beleive, coreldraw is the bomb! i'll sjhow you guys some works soon and you tell me which software you think did it. its not the software guys, its how you use and explore it. Flash developers talk to some flash users to develop the new flash because they do things with flash that even the developers never knew flsh could do.

There are some really creative designers here, thank God the notion of dead graphics in Nigeria can be put to rest. here's me suggestion for a logo design competetion Company name: Nairaland extreme business: web forum and ideas development design logo, logotype and call card sample size: logo- 300x500 pixels any which way call card: 3.5 x 2 inches anyway 5 samples per submission with name (screen or otherwise) , location, process and software used. we should look at a 2 months time span. Note the object is not the competition itself but for all of to see and learn a thing or two. i know i'm willing to learn. lets get this show on the road for the best Nairaland Graphics designer 2007 here's something i did for a real estate company

Career / Re: List Of Careers Associated With Creativity (Creative Careers) by sirgai(m): 3:32pm On May 18, 2007 |
gamine has a point. creativity is often associated with art oriented or literary business, however as we say at icstudios, creativity has no limits because it is life. anything you do when done creatively produces a whole new dimension to it. look at the ipod. creativity itself is a career and a whole way of thinking. its about creating a link in things that before had no possiblity of being linked. so anything goes. engineering, medicine, astrology, religion, art, technology, advertising, design, chemistry, geology, cinematography, name it, just do it differently. Identify what aspect of human living your creativity tends toward and latch on to that. anyone interested in finding out more from me, i suggest we get together either online or in person, maybe a meet of some sort, email me :gaisalam@yahoo.com or call number in previous posts |
TV/Movies / Re: Why Are Nigerian Cartoons Rare? by sirgai(m): 3:11pm On May 18, 2007 |
Kadey, seun, grafikdon and gbade have spoken the best. the market for cartoons, animation and comics is large in nigeria. we are talking about it arent we? and if every nairaland member buys a comic book made in naija regularly i can make a career with it. you will be amazed at the number of people who watched and still watch pinky and the brain. My studio has been in the creativity business for a while and we've produce a comic book in the period and found the number one problem - marketing and distribution ( the people who like comic and animation are not accessed) that and the following: in Nigeria, everybody wants to do their own thing (it took Disney - with their $50million plus budget and over 200 animators) to do lion king, how long do you think it will take 1 person on no budget to do one? We have the skills and structures, we dont have the direction, we dont have the team spirit. For comics, people think its all about the colours or the action or even the art. comics is about all of this and more. most existing comic concepts we have are developed with just the creator in mind. there's more but, in time. in the mean time, anybody seriuosly interested in making Nigerian comics for home and abroad can call me. lets build the industry that's ripe to blow. Career / Re: List Of Careers Associated With Creativity (Creative Careers) by sirgai(m): 1:13pm On May 13, 2007 |
for the creative mind mostly you'll have to work either alone or an environment that provides a flexible work structure. you could try any of the follwoing: Copy writing for an advertising agency Illustration Comic art Digital colouring Computer Graphics Product packaging design concept development for movies and other productions Archiecture 3d modeling and animation 2d mation or you could just call up ICStudios for a meeting and lets explore your abilities and put you in your dream environment 08023515239 - Ibrahim Ganiyu |
