Hi, there are a few factors to consider but I'll list some of them and then you can do the consideration.

1. A 2yr course means that you'll be on 20hrs work restriction for 2 years during term time
2. There's a tuition fee gap between both schools. It might be small but its something.
3. Consider cost of living for the two cities
4. what's your wider family plan? and how does being a student for 2years (or 1 year) affect that?

Lochinny91:
Good morning house! Pls I really need help coz I don’t understand again. I did Biometrics on 4th of January (priority Abuja) with my family. Priority is for main applicant. Got an empty NSF mail the next day and up till now nothing else. My application has been stuck at DMC. Did a paid mail on Monday and got a reply that it’s being considered and that I’ll hear back from them soon. My colleague who did his biometrics on the 11th (standard application) at same Abuja has a received his. So I just don’t understand what’s going on. Is this normal? Is it because I declared one US visa denial but I’ve traveled to the US several times too.
Pls is there any other thing I should do? I really need help on what next to do. @dduchess and others pls help me!! Thank you all

Hi Adewale,

I hope your issue gets resolved soon.
From all that you've said, I can't see any issue here. But remember that case workers are humans and the make mistakes and have their own biases even though there are policies they should be guided by.
Now, technically, because she's had previous refusals, she would have been tagged as high risks - the question for them is, were those previous refusals warranted/legitimate.
I'm sure you would be fine.
What I would do in your case is to call them as many times as possible, send as many mails as possible until you get the answer you want. Another thing I will do is to barrage them beyond reasonable doubt that the child in question is indeed my child - ie provide as many documents as you can get beyond birth certificate. School correspondence addressed to either of the parents, pictures, hospital appointments from very early age, immunisation documents if you still have them.

Best of luck.
dewale1234:
@dduchess90 and the team, thanks for all you do

Could you help look into this for your advise

We have a daughter that's in University outside of Nigeria, she is 17, she was denied UK visit visa twice because ECO states that he doesn't believe she is going on a visit

Her siblings have had UK and Schenghen visas

They were all dependents in our application, but she submitted her application from her base, while we did ours from Nigeria just with a day difference (hers was earlier)

MA has arrived UK while the others are planning to join soon but she alone doesn't have her decision made yet

We did a paid mail and were told that it will be escalated

Please what could be the issue that only her is having this issue (she also didn't do TB test cos it is not a requirement where she is based

Also, can we touch our POF? Applications were submitted since 21st December and everyone else have a decision except her

Should we still leave the POF, pending when ger decision is made?

Your wealth of experience in shedding a light on this will be appreciated

This might be a long shot.
I have a flat for long term rent in Ipswich (suitable for a family). No references or Guarantor needed but tenant would have to pay in advance.
Let me know if there are any takers and then I can share more details.

If you're referring to university of Suffolk in Ipswich, the rent is less than 10mins walk to the Uni, less than 5mins walk to town centre and less than 5mins walk to the water front.
Send me a message and can take you through.

Hi.
I have a flat in Ipswich to share with anyone. There's a double room still available. Ipswich is in Suffolk. Accommodation will be suitable for anyone in that area. If you message me, I can send pictures.
Also, with the double room is a chance for a care employment (only in Ipswich). The room might be suitable for a couple but surely not a family (with children) except if they're taking the entire flat.
Happy to be contacted for more information.

Caveat:
You DO NOT need to pay any money until you're physically present to see the property.
There's no holding fee
No agency fee
Room is also suitable for someone who's ready to work and travel (less than 50mins) to Uni.

LOL. Full disclosure.

Is it better to live in a big city, get a job with a considerable high pay and spend more on living expenses and accommodation or live in a smaller city, with not so good pay but with cheaper accommodation and living expenses?
I feel at the end of the day, they're same and for someone who wants to really establish in UK, get affordable mortgage and stuff, the latter is a better option but I may be wrong as I'm currently in Lagos lol

There are different kinds on loans. There's student loan which to be best of my knowledge you must be a citizen or settled to access. There are bank consumer loans (depending on your credit score and your bank) anyone can access it as long as you have a bank account, there are credit cards and overdraft limits (again accessible by just anybody depending on bank and CS).
So can you confirm that your friend who's on tier 4 visa got a student loan?

Lets not bicker back and forth on this. The point is that, its possible to make genuine mistakes on these official documents.

giselle237:
none of the above resulted in you having the wrong date of birth on a child’s international passport. These are not the same instances.
The above are answers given which dont involve putting in an IMMIGRATION application which at the top of your head you might miss.

Your number 1 example, at biometrics it was found out child’s gender has been wrongly put because child in question was been seen. Again a biometrics will not happen without the child and this is one of the reasons why.

For a 1st time international passport to be done for a child, there would be presentation of a birth certificate corresponding to the same date. That’s the only way such will be translated onto the passport.
You have an international passport, it is the duty of the verification personnel to ask for documents certifying this. And this is what they do all the time.
This is not question and answer from the top of your head as you have given in all your instances above.
The dad must have provided a birth certificate then, also to process a visa, a birth certificate with tht date of birth must also have been presented.

Your tier 2 sponsorship category has lesser restrictions. There is no restriction to pursue a university degree while you're on tier 2. However, you must consider that you need to be doing full time work if you're on tier 2. And depending on individual university, they will only offer part time studies to students with settles stays. Your tier 2 visa is not in the settled category. Having said that, like i said, its down to individual university to make that call.

In summary, from a HO perspective, you're not breaking any lay and it doesn't impact on your status in any way or the future applications of your dependents.
From the school perspective, it depends on the individual school if they want to take you on a tier 2 visa to their part time study. the reason why they will say no most times is part time studies can drag for more than 2 years, so what happens if you dot have a visa for the remaining period of your study?
I'm not sure if any school will be willing to take you on a full time study when they know you're on a tier 2 visa category.

i hope this is clear..

Pacypatty:
Good evening gurus, in a situation where a student on tier 4 visa is about switching to tier 2 visa and still want to continue her studies will it be possible? And what are the advantages and disadvantages. What positive or negative effect will tier 2 visa have on the students dependants still in Nigeria?

Pls make everyone advice us pls.

All of what you've written here might not be correct. This is just your opinion but i'll tell you facts.

As a parent, I'll tell you the mistakes I've made with my kids bio data.

1. I have listed a male child as a female child for a passport document and the mistake was only discovered at the time of biometrics capture.
2. I mix up my kids name several times, I cant even count.
3. Atimes, when filling their DoB, I mix it up or completely get it wrong and then call the partner to please re-confirm, who atimes also gets it wrong. The person with the right answer is usually the child
4. we've both given our neighbours address (house number) as ours before, a complete mistake!!!it was on returning home we reconfirmed the number at our door and called the agency to please rectify.

In all of these cases, it will be very silly for someone to think us as liars, they were genuine mistakes.

Solatium:

You are not mandated to fills form off hand, things like these are allowed to be verified by using an original document for clarification.
Why do you think people are usually allowed to go with a firm and submit after you are done with it? why do you think people allowed to fill online form at their convenience?
the mistakes in DOB or Misspelt of name has several dimensions.

1..If the i was supposed to type letter F on the keyboard but erroneously typed G i could be forgiven because of the proximity of the letters to each other,.

2...If The filled DoB by the Dad is 11-09-2000 and you turned up to say your new DoB is 20-10-1995
My brother how do you justify such?
Most time's these cases are much more complicated,if you go before a document examiners or an interviewer and tell them you can't remember your date of birth they will just be viewing you as a LIAR

1. I'm not sure how much things have changed but I know they usually specify on the visa of the dependent child, the passport number of the parent they are allowed to travel with - I'm not sure if they still do that but you will have to check with someone who's travelled recently on a dependent visa. This is fact.

2. Depending on the 'mood' of the immigration officers in Nigeria - they may give you another series of issues especially when you're not in any way related to the child. Even when you're related to the child, they still cause problems atimes.- Experiences

3. Boarder control in UK might also give you some trouble. the red flag here is you both answer different surnames on your passport - obviously since you're not related to the child. And knowing this people, they would rather err on the side of caution than err on the side of negligence.

The question you want to ask yourself is, how do you want to prove this is not child trafficking to immigration. But I might be wrong, this may not be an issue but please check very well.

1. Go ahead and apply with her maiden name on her passport - no issues
2. Attach the affidavit to your application with every other supporting document to show that your relationship is genuine and subsisting.
3. She can renew her passport in London when the time comes to her partners name - its pretty straight forward for married women.

JedahT:
Hello Everyone, please I need help!

I recently got married and my wife is yet to change her name on her passport. Although she has other change of name supporting documents like sworn affidavit and newspaper publication together with our marriage certificate. We tried to start the process of changing the name on her passport but it looks like something that might take a while before it's sorted .

We plan to apply for visa soon and I want to ask if its okay for us to go ahead and apply with her passport in her maiden name while attaching all the documents mentioned above.

Also, will she able to do a change of name from the UK when her passport expires next year?

Please I need anyone with good information to please respond.

Thank you .

No risk.

As long as you're not exceeding the 20hrs limit per week during term time.

Enraf:

Please @justwise and @sniperaz we mnes more enlightenment about this 20hrs work limits and the implications.
You guys should help us to get it clearly,
For example if one gets a job 6pm to 1am permanent night shift and it Pays around 12£ PEr hour.
What are the risks?

Give them a ring.

We have similar experience
We did biometric on the 26th of August. Priority for me as main applicant. the rest on standard
Got a NSF mail on the 1st of September
I didn’t get any Decision mail even while the decision was taken on the 21st.
I got collection mail on the 24th late friday.
We got decision mails for the rest 4 of the family on the 26th a Sunday.
On getting to TLS on the 27th only my passport was ready for collection.
Waiting continues till we got collection mails for the 3 kids very late on the 30th of September unfortunately the next day was a public holiday we have to wait till Monday October 4 to pick them.
We have been waiting but No collection mail for their mom.
We have all received the brp mail. You can imagine the harrowing frustrations.

The only time you need to travel with someone specifically is when its mentioned on the terms f your visa - usually dependant children.

Dear Nairaland,
Please I've asked this question thrice, no responses yet..can I travel via Turkish airline alone on a spouse dependant visa to UK. There is no way to reach the airline and wakanow agents are giving conflicting info. One said you have to travel together with main applicant, another said you can travel alone. Please, has any dependant here travelled alone recently via Turkish airline to the UK? Main applicant (my husband) has travelled ahead

Its not a problem if you decide to travel will all your family members on a student visa as long as they're below 18 and they are your dependents.
There is no requirement for you to prove family tiers for a student visa.

There is also a student I know that built the entire security infrastructure of his university. The Dean of Computer Science was taking note. Also a Nigerian student.

Please read my comments. The possibilities are endless and its not just care work and security work that there are in this society. As long as its legal and you're not breaking any law.

Then declare and pay the tax of our earnings that HMRC does not know about. My point is, there is no restriction as to your earnings inasmuch as there's restriction to the number of hours you can work. So get creative and pay your tax.

And like I said, 90% will still do care and security job, but for the 10% who can see beyond, the possibilities are endless.

LagosismyHome:

HMRC wahala is something you don't want to joke with on a normal day, coupled with been on a visa status. Their stress no be here ooo if they chase you for owed tax.
