Nairaland / General / Re: The name of the store for the whole family by star255: 6:38pm On May 04, 2021
Hello.

I suggest the name "Clothing rows and the slogan" Clothing row. Always there." I also ask for "Clothes for an ordinary customer", but then this very ordinary customer will be offended. Still possible:

Step up to the clothing line
Buy for everyone

With respect,

Nairaland / General / Re: What Are Some Best Facial Mask? by star255: 8:20pm On Sep 30, 2020
I've only used My Beauty Diary, Laneige,The Face Shop, C.O. Bigelow masks, but with all masks, I think the purpose is just to give a lil boost and they aren't going to give an amazing change.

My Beauty Diary-although I think these masks are quite effective, doesn't work on me because I seem to be allergic some ingredient in a lot of their masks. But many people really like them, especially since their formula/sheet mask seems to have improved last year or the year before. The ones that worked were pretty good in effectiveness.

Laneige- Strawberry Yogurt Pack, now upgraded to Multiberry Yogurt Pack- does give a short brighter/softer complexion. I prefer the the Multiberry Yogurt Pack because the Strawberry one seemed to give me a allergic reaction, so glad they improved it. The Water Sleeping Pack is also very popular and raved about from their brand and I bought it but haven't tried it.

The Face Shop- I've tried their sheet masks, the fruit ones & the Herbal Medicine ones, most of them are cooling, calming redness, some provide clearer skin but effectiveness is minimal compared to the others I've tried. They are moisturizing to some limit and decent masks, just not great masks.

C.O. Bigelow- this brand is from Bath & Body Works. I tried one of their clay masks, and it was very good at clearing the pores, making the face less oily, reduces redness, etc. very effective but I think it's discontinued now and I haven't tried their new ones.

Oops, sorry C.O. Bigelow is not asian.

Recently bought Missha masks to try because of their big sale, and Silk Whitia but haven't tried them. Although with Silk Whitia, I've heard many good things about it as well. Other asian facial masks I've heard many good things about and are quite popular, but have yet to try are: Sexylook, SKII, Face Q (heard these aren't as good as My Beauty Diary), innisfree, and Etude House...

Nairaland / General / Re: What Have You Been Really Into Lately? by star255: 6:22am On Jul 24, 2020
I became interested in a book-Zuzak's Book thief. I finally finished it, and also finished my College essay on this book on "what love means to me". I was having some writing problems, so I had to get help immediately. Sometimes I really like the process of reading, so I can spend whole days doing it.
Nairaland / General / Has Anyone Ever Attempted Writing A Book/short Story? Also Would You? by star255: 1:06pm On Jul 22, 2020
Really curious if anyone has every written or attempted to write a book or short story?

If you have how old were you, were they good, dhow do you loo back on them? Fondly? With cringe?

I used to write fantasy when I was 13 - 14, I used to write many short stories set in my own world I created. It was loads of fun, unfortunately those stories are terrible and my grammar was so bad back then due to my dyslexia and such.

To this day I always wished I could write and create stories, I love the idea of world building and have wanted to really get back into writing some good fantasy having been heavily inspired by the many books I have been reading over the last few years.
Nairaland / General / I Finished My Book! :) by star255: 1:25pm On Jul 21, 2020
Hello, darlings.

A couple of you have been awesome enough to check on me and ask where I've been the last few…years? Has it really been years? Ungh. Well, I know I've spent at least the last five years writing this novel, and as of March 28, I published it. Five years of blood, agony, tears, booze, suicidal ideation, staying up all night, sleeping all day, losing good sanity I'll never get back - and that's not including all the reading and research and WRITING. And then the editing. Oh, the editing. That first draft is nothing. The third draft copy and type edits will make you die, and formatting for paperback will drag your corpse for a mile. And that's IF you did all your artwork right the first time.

BUT IT'S DONE.

The book is called Mary, Everything, and it's book one of my series The Flapper Covenant". It's 1920s sorcery and multiversal travel and ass-kicking, and they're just starting their freshman year in college. Instead of trying to sum it up, I'll just paste the link here and you can check out the description. And if you're bored and looking for something truly different to read, download my sample on Kindle! I can't promise it'll be everyone's thing, but I can promise this isn't a concept that's done every day, nor are my heroines the usual stuff. ^.~

Also, I invented an entirely new magic system for my universe, if it matters. It's not 100% complete yet, but it is a logical magic system. In other words, you don't just wave a wand and have your wishes come true. You can build your own spells (called "reactions" or "formulae"wink - and I've done my best to give it a uniquely 1920s feel. WWI has just ended as well - and one of my major characters is an American combat sorceress who fought on the Western Front. So far, she's been a favorite among those who've read…

I've been really excited to come back and tell you guys what I've been up to. I'd love to have had your advice and feedback when I was still finishing it up, but maybe it's for the best - I'm sure I'd have come to a few of you, hat in hand, begging for you to be beta readers, and I lost too much of my self-respect as it is.

P.S. Color maps! Pictures!

If you *do* happen to be interested, and you *do* want to read, I would seriously love you forever if you gave me a (nice) review! (I'd still really appreciate you checking out my book and taking the time to review, but I can't promise I wouldn't cry if you gave me one star ) And if a lot of you are interested, I think I can launch a sale, too. But I'm not counting on a ton of interest. I'm just glad to be back. I feel like I've come home and now I can brag to my family about what I've been up to.

I missed you.

Nairaland / General / Re: What Was Your High School Like? by star255: 1:21pm On Jul 21, 2020
Pretty good.

I went to high school in a small, suburban army town just outside of Savannah, Georgia. It was and still is the best public school in all of Georgia, both academically and athletically. It's such a nice school that people in Savannah lie about their addresses so their kids can attend.

Don't get me wrong, we still had all the problems of a regular high school (bullying, fighting, etc) but they were few and far between, nothing compared to the other schools in Georgia. Trust me, just a short drive away, in the city of Savannah, their public schools are awful; gangs, drugs, you name it, they have it.
Nairaland / General / Re: How Can I Improve Site Security? by star255: 11:19am On Jul 10, 2020
If you mean security to protect against attacks on your website, web security isn't really that simple unfortunately. There are lots of exploits and things you need to be aware of and the relevance and the way you go about protecting against them depends heavily on the libraries and programming languages you're using. For starters, the OWASP top 10 contains the top 10 most common vulnerabilities with websites. Do your best to make sure you're protected against those, and if you have any questions about them, I or someone else can try to answer.

Guess the 10 years warranty covers just the motors, not bearings.
I'm rather skeptic about steam : not a case commercial washers don't use it, unless they are *steam heated*

Nairaland / General / Re: Where Can I Quickly Get Money? by star255: 6:25pm On Jul 01, 2020
Check the phone book or Google for Market Research companies. They run Focus Groups and Shopping Mall Intercept projects all year long. You might be asked to sample a food, watch a advertising comparison, talk about a specific type of business , maybe get your political opinion. They pay good $$$. Many of these companies maintain contact lists and group contacts, groups that use this method to raise money for charitable purposes. During my early school years I worked for a company where we paid people to do a blind taste test - Pepsi vs Coke! Those were fun days!
Do you live in a major city with prominent medical centers? You might have heard of companies testing new virus vaccines, paying for your time and covering all health issues.
As a kid, I found out the easiest way to quick cash was visit a neighbor and offer my gardening services!
Nairaland / General / Re: You Went To Parties At The University by star255: 12:09pm On Jun 25, 2020
what your friend did is pretty common, especially with graduation parties

one of my friends had two graduation parties, one for like elite guests and then one for soso guests, I got an invite to the soso party but that was ok because this was when he was a senior and I was a junior so it was still a big honor

as for me in school, I was really popular

that kind of tapered off in HS because I didn't drink so all of my friends were foreign kids with strict parents (just as well) so I still had a lot of friends but I wasn't in the IN crowd anymore

but no one in the IN crowd hassled me or anything because everyone remembered me from before HS

I am like old now so none of it matters

Most of friends cocoon and just do their hobbies outside of holidays I see them then, that's enough, I have Vesti
