Politics / Re: Bbc2 Welcome To Lagos! by stkitts1(f): 2:29pm On Apr 25, 2010
The reaction of many Nigerians irked by the greatest service a foreign media has done them by highlighting a sort of Nigeria many like myself never knew existed, reminds me something that happened during my secondary school days before the civil war broke out. I was a student then of the famous Bishop Shanahan College in the then old Orlu divisional province in the Eastern region.
We were told by our then principal (A white Priest) that the deputy premier of the region (Dr Ibiam) and other government officials will be visiting our school and few day to the visit, the Orlu provincial council chairman then breezed into our school asking that so many things be changed for the visit. Asking that unpaved tracks within the school should be covered and all sorts of cosmetic changes should be affected to impress out august visitor (Dr Ibiam).
But our white Priest Principal was furious and told him to go to hell. He said that it will be silly to make the school cosmetically look good beyond what it will normally look. That it will serve us better for the politician and his entourage to witness how we will look normally, so that he can address our needs instead of pretending to be alright or showing off a false image that doesn’t match with reality of our school everyday life.
And that is what we did, even though we cleaned up the school but we made no attempt to hide our short comings and you know what, when Dr Ibiam left, few months later, he commissioned that we get a brand new laboratory, a new dining hall, three new sets of football jerseys because he was shown our old ragged one and then demanded that all road leading into the school and all the dusty road inside the school to be tarred with immediate effect and within eight months after his visit we got all that. Unfortunately the whole thing was bombed down by the Nigerian air force during the war.
So in a country that means business and values progress, BBC should have been congratulated for showing the real Nigerians that live a life without the oil wealth. Those in government should have admitted that many years of neglect created these slums but they are doing something now about them gradually, probably ask the BBC to come back in a couple of years time to see the difference in the area or the individual characters featured on the programme. Instead you have the half baked morons of citizens and their corrupt elite rulers and good for nothing diplomats complaining on why the wrong people were shown instead the normal faces on the NTA networks. This programme has shown the world that an average Nigerian is peaceful, hardworking and not everybody does 419 and it’s not poverty per-say that drove the people into 419 but greed. But our useless Nigerians will not see the positive from the programme because they are not use to the truth. They preferred to be lied to instead.
Now you can see why every nation had the kind of leaders they got. The reason being the governed
Eziachi, God bless you for this truth!

Politics / Re: 58 Nigerians Deported From Sudan by stkitts1(f): 9:46pm On Apr 03, 2010
smh, as a people, i thot we had eveolved in our thinking, but the opposite seems to be the case.
some people have been trying to tell others on this thread that u get deported from ANY country in the world if you have breached their immigration laws, but some silly twats still say 'sudan of all countries'! just stupid and annoying really!

i saw someone say what makes nigerians leave their country is unemployment, thats soo myopic and the rubbish we feed ourselves everyday.
have u ever heard of globalization? it is a phenomenon that makes borders 'dissapear' and make the world increasingly interdependent in that peple get jobs and move to places other than their countries which isnt a big deal, just get the right documentation.
unemployment isnt peculiar to nigeria alkone, do u know the number of indians in the u.k?
what of the lebanese in nigeria? the chinese in southafrica? everyone seeks employment where they get better pay, and peopl emigrate all the time, nigerians get deported cos they dont like to go thru the right process full stop!
Music/Radio / Re: I Am Ashamed Of Naija Retarded Music by stkitts1(f): 9:14pm On Apr 03, 2010
the nigerian music is on a rise, but individual artists are sometimes crap, like they said terry g, he sings crap, i think he does, my opinion.
some of u might think danfo drivers are razz but they had good lyrics, at least in the danfo drivers album. they might not have been lyrically fluent, but they had a message, especially in songs like 'na God' etc.

on the whole, we still look good. not retarted, with time, the 'retarded'(and i use this term loosely) would begin to see that their rubbish isnt selling anymore and would up their game.
once the consumer's taste changes, the supplier has to adjust as well, so once we stop buying their 'shit' they wud stop producing it.

pls,, who's dis saying good music died with mj? abeg lemme hear word with that cliche, mj hadnt done a good album since dangerous so shove that!
Family / Re: Funny Things Parents' Do That Makes You Chuckle! by stkitts1(f): 8:56pm On Apr 03, 2010
i remember wen i was about 5 and my mom had just had a baby, i went to her saying i wanted my own kid and how did she do it.
she said she just prays with daddy and God gives her a child, i went and grabbed my older brother and made him pray with me, after 3 days, without a kid ofcourse, i oncluded she was lying.

who remembers how wen u get moeny wen ure young and ur mom asks to keep it for you, u never see ur money again and wen u ask, u either get 'the look' or it was used to buy something for u, lol

in my house, my mom was the boss(still is) dad was the nicer one(still is), if we want something or want to go out, we ask daddy, he says, if we dont ask mummy and get an agreement, we aint going nowhere!

whenever momsie was travelling, we could hardly wait to see her go and when she comes back, no one's really excited. when popsie travels, we are sad, and wen he comes back, eveyrone is all smiles and happy.
she confessed to us later(after we had all grown up) that it made her sad, cos she thought we all loved our dad and didnt like her. lol
well thing is, no kid likes being shouted on or beat so until u grow up, we all think of our moms as terrors.
Music/Radio / Re: Do You Think Any Nigeria Musician Can Win a Grammy? by stkitts1(f): 11:26pm On Mar 24, 2010
this 9ice's tradition album, i have no doubt that its a great album and all that with a bag of chips, but it being in a language that is not everyone's lingua franca makes it hard for the non speakers to appreciate its depth.
so those who r insulting people cos they dont get the album, dont be angry!

if youssou n'dor, salif keita, ladysmith black mamboza(these are world wide acclaimed african artistes that make great music) havent won a grammy, i doubt our musicians with songs like shayo wud win one.
some stand more of a chance than others,
Romance / Re: Why Are Nigerian Men Attracted To Carribbean Women? by stkitts1(f): 2:59pm On Dec 25, 2007
all this talk about nigerians, carribeans, african americans whites, its all built from sterotype. we all have our convictions about different groups but we shud try and be open minded when we meet individuals from these places and get to know that without bias instead of pre judging them on their race or ethinic composition.

we all have our faults but we shud live with them and make compromises thats why we r humans!! and just for the record, u realli shud try and meet the educated and sophisticated nigerians, the ones u have the misfortune of meeting are rather the uncouth ones, i wudnt make excuses for anyone but i would say this much, am a nigerian and some of us can be a hell of a lot annoying and cause bad blood but the majority arent like that and the are rather nice people and who anyone gets attracted to is not a matter of whether or not his own country people arent goo enuff its just choice, like the saying goes, u cant choose who u fall in love wiv, i mean look at terrence howard who has never been wiv a black american woman but he's black doesnt mean there arent good ones, its just his choice, i even support people seeking love outside their spheres it brings harmony betwween different groups.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Guys Prefer To Date Christians Girls? by stkitts1(f): 9:23am On Nov 23, 2007
2 Kings 19:18  And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them
. @ cgift
u wud notice that christianity was long in existence before islam came along so how then can this verse be applied to islamic gods? and also the people of the book(christians) if u read the qur'an well, werent called infidels by God they were called just that people of the book and u also had ur own gods too. just after moses had brpought u out from egypt, after crossing a great expanse of water, u didnt pause to even think that this God might be a greater one than they ones u have always worshipped, u still went ahead and brought out ur idols to worship when u were in the desert and there was no food. was it not then ur people rebeled against moses and said they didnt beleieve in his god??

also in the bible is sodom and gomorrah which was burnt because of sin, if you want to say that our God is violent, am not gonna be blasphemous wiv you but wat does this say about your own 'God'?? and this shows that your people have been sinners since time immemorial!

every religion has had its own fair share of violence before it cud be established. wasnt moses a murdere and thats why he escaped from egypt? didnt nebucadenezzer think himself God and God threw him into the bush and he lived in the wilds for 7 years?
wasnt solomon married to 7 woman and have hundreds of concubines? and u say onli islam promotes marriage to more than one person, am not even talking about the average person, am talking about your esteemed prophets!

what am i trying to show? that everyone has his or her own blemish notwithstanding and just so y'all know islam beleives in all the prophets mentioned in the bible and beleives in addition that mohammed was the last messenger and they all gave the same message. the oneness of God, but it seems that their work were all in vain because people like thopse here do not still beleive in the oneness of God!

the jews from which christianity descended dont even practice the christianity again. they have their own religion, judaism. they are the cause of all the problems the world has encountered thus far, number one makers of weaponry which destroy human lives.
God told them to go to cannaan that was the promised land and establish themselves but they shudnt inter marry with the people there but did they listen? nope that is the cause of the isreali-palestinian war! and this is supposed to be the originating  grounds of the so called peaceful religion

i hate to do this but you people push someone to the limits, i never knew in the world of today that there are people so myopic about happpenings in the suroundings and donot even understand their neighbours, wel before we talk about tribalism in nigeria, i think we should begin to talk about religion because it seems like its amuch bigger issue. salam to my muslim brothers and sisters. for the ignorant, salam means peace unto you, i beg you not to thrash it!
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Guys Prefer To Date Christians Girls? by stkitts1(f): 6:37pm On Nov 21, 2007
to all the nwAndo's and davidylan of the world. u deserve an applause for the continued hatred for a religion u know next to nothing about. u shud concentrate ur energies on making urselves better people and moving forward in the world instead of expending all ur energy in nairaland pouring insults on people who dont even know u exist except for the few who are on nairaland!
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Guys Prefer To Date Christians Girls? by stkitts1(f): 6:26pm On Nov 21, 2007
THIS IS TO DAVIDYLAN, U WANNA SHOW ME WHERE IN THE QURAN THAT EXTOLLS VIOLENCE, AND ALL WHAT U TALKED ABOUT?? u need to realli start respecting other people's religions. its cos of people like u we have wars in places that are warring now! on this thread is not anything bout religion but why some sects prefer to date people from other sects, i mite say the same for hindus and sikhs
i guess u are totally unexposed to islam and all wat u know is the propaganda from the american press where u claim to live, u need to stop all the invectives cos wen u truly fall victim to the "terrorists" that u seem to be talking about then u would truly have something to talk about!
peace,
p.s take a moment and ask God for forgiveness cos u say ALLAH doesnt mean God and u didnt tell us wat it meant, thats blasphemous. also are u a christian?? cos u havent talked about another religion u just seem to get all hot and bothered when islam is mentioned.
Fashion / Re: Skimpy Dressers: Confidently Shy, Stupid, Or What? by stkitts1(f): 7:24pm On Nov 16, 2007
i agree wiv the guy who posted the thread. wear wat ure comfortable in and if u pull off ur mini skirt wiv panache, no one's gon notice ure half naked but the wud notice ure looking good! i like to flaunt a lil, and i dont adjust or stretch my clothes outta proportion, i knew they were small before i came out of my house duh!
the eyesore is when big girls try to wear clothes not suitable for their size, all wat i think of then is "everylittle thing wey lepa do, orobo sef go wan do"

i rest my case!
