It is a new week, one in which I have set out once again in the pursuit of the New Nigeria vision for our collective good.

The past week was filled with its own highs and the lows, with the most significant lows for me being the death of over 100 persons by an explosion at an illegal oil refinery in Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo State, and the death of the Alaafin Of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty; Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi.

It is highly regrettable that Orlu Zone of Imo State; which I am privileged to represent at the Senate, has been in the news in recent times for the wrong reasons. The incessant disturbing stories of death have become grossly unbearable. I call on the Minister for Petroleum to set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the unfortunate incident at Abaezi in order to avoid such unfortunate incidence in the future. My most sincere sympathy is also with the family of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident and my prayer is that all those who lost their lives be granted eternal rest. Amen.

My condolences are also with the family of the Late Alaafin of Oyo, the government and people of Oyo state, and the nation at large for the loss of such a great pillar of our culture. In course of his meritorious life, the late monarch was a front-row monarch who brought tremendous value to our nation via the traditional institution he led.

Lastly, fellow Nigerians, We have another week as a nation, in which we can take bold steps for the betterment of our lives in asymmetric proportions. We must make it count.

WHO IS OWELLE ANAYO ROCHAS OKOROCHA?...

The man everyone knows to be Rochas Okorocha today was born 59 years ago into the humble family of Chief Nicholas and Josephine Okorocha of blessed memory.
Rochas is an Igboman born in Ogboko, Ideato South LGA of Imo State.

Through the dint of hard work, his parents lived in Barkin Ladi, Jos Plateau State as petty traders, where Rochas learned the art of trade; selling oranges, coconut, pineapple, garri, etc, and later selling second-handed clothes known as Okirika/Gwonjo. His mastery of the Hausa language is as a result of these trades.
He is an engineer of ideas and one who makes alot out of nothing. Through the business of selling used clothes while in secondary school, Rochas bought his first television, a lady's
motorcycle for his mother, and a Hiace Toyota bus for his business at the age of fourteen. Even his teachers became his customers and his school holidays saw him go through major markets around Plateau State such as Mangu Friday market, Bokos Thursday market, Dafo Tuesday market, and Cheka Saturday market to make ends meet.
Rochas sold cars while in the University, buying cars from Cotonou, the Republic of Niger, Jos, Kano, and selling them in the eastern part of Nigeria under the Rochas Motors Business in Jos, Plateau State.
From the proceeds of this business, he built his first school; the Kings Commercial College Vom at age twenty-one. One that has gone on to produce so many great Nigerians, especially from the Northern part of Nigeria.
My first million Dollars came from my time as a commission agent for the sale of Balenga Dam project equipment auction by a British company; Baffour Beatty Construction Company. This sale was made by my referral, to Late. Chief John Olowuya from Lagos State for 10 million Dollars and saw me getting a commission of 10% off the sale price. An equivalent of 1 Million Dollars.
With this, my business grew larger and spanned into real estate, fleet motor sales, aviation, pharmaceuticals, the hospitality niche, and cement distribution.

In my business prowess, I supplied the first one thousand (1,000) Prado SUVs to the Nigerian Police along with other many fleets sales. But it was Real Estate that has given Rochas major wealth, as he contributed immensely to the real estate development in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja even before it became the Federal Capital.

As you must have known, on the 31st of January 2022,
I, Senator Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha publicly declared my intention to run for the office of the President of our dear nation.

In the times after that, and leading up to now, I have continued to make consultations with various groups across political, gender, ethnic, religious, economic, and social lines.

Every segment of our society has been presented with our core values of realizing sustainable unity and peace, creating wealth to tackle poverty and insecurity with a technologically driven paradigm led by the youths and the bringing about the spirit of compassion to care for the less-privileged members of our society, in the New Nigeria.

Furtherance to these consultations, I want to, on behalf of The New Nigeria team, invite you to join me every Wednesday and Sunday as I engage with you directly in what is to be known as the 'Chat With Rochas Initiative'.

This initiative is a means of communicating directly with fellow Nigerians as we jointly think through the issues and ideas that would be the bedrock of the New Nigeria.

In these sessions that would take place between 7:00 pm and 9.00 pm on the aforementioned days, I would be personally available to have conversations with you via the comment section of my Facebook and Twitter pages.

Each day would have its main topic for discourse but participants are free to engage based on topics of their choice. It is my fervent belief that with our collective efforts, our nation will be well-positioned for greatness.

Growing up with poor parentage made me know the realities that accompany poverty.
The realities of having to sleep on an empty stomach while still having no hope of the next day's meal.
The reality of knowing that like one's parents, there is a possibility of things never getting better.
The sorrow caused by unmet needs cannot be quantified and that is why I have dedicated my life to alleviating the suffering of as many as I can.
This I have done as a private citizen via the Rochas Foundation and many other humanitarian programs that operate on personal funding. With a presence in all six geo-political zones of Nigeria and over 25,000 graduates as of the last count, the Rochas Foundation has as its vision the goal of giving free standard education to at least 10 million indigent children across Nigeria and by extension; Africa.
This I did in my time as the Governor of Imo State through both infrastructural and human capital development in every strategic sector of the state.
It is this passion that has informed my desire to run for the office of the President of our dear nation.
I remain unsatisfied as long as my nation has 14.5 million out-of-school children.

ROCHAS OKOROCHA ON HIS 'A YOUTH MUST WORK INITIATIVE'-

Youth Must Work" initiative to see that young people do not remain idle.

According to the United Nations population projections for 2020, about 43.49 percent of Nigeria's total population were aged 0 to 14 years, 19 percent aged 15-24 years and about 62 percent are below age 25 years.

Nigerians aged 60 years and above were less than 5 percent.

For Nigeria's very young population, unemployment is a constant reality that they face.

Programs that specifically target the youth are often overlooked, are paramount to him and essential in poverty alleviation.

Rochas Okorocha, the Nigerian senator and founder of the Rochas Okorocha Foundation officially announced in a January World press conference that he was running for the office of the President of Nigeria in 2023. He made a call to his party, All Progressive Congress (APC), the ruling party of the country, to be equitable in the primaries.

"I appeal to my party – APC, to allow a level-playing ground," he said at the press conference. In an interview with Channels Television last week, Rochas Okorocha urged Nigerians to look out for leaders who care for them and who can really make the unity of the country stronger.

He said Nigerians need a detribalized leader who can unite the country, a leader with a compassionate heart, who will care for the poor and downtrodden, and a visionary leader who can create wealth for the teeming populace" – he's that leader he said.

"I have been able to prove that I have a compassionate heart, that I really care and I love this country – especially the needy, the poor, the widows, I have been able to listen to their cries through my foundation. More than 22,000 Nigerian youths have benefited from the Rochas Okorocha Foundation."

Mr. Okorocha, who is the former governor of Imo State in South Eastern Nigeria also further stressed that poverty is the major cause of the complaints and chaos in the country. He will address it squarely, he added, under his New Nigeria agenda if given the chance to lead the country.

For years on end, I have had to answer literal thousands of times on the motivation that sees me pouring in more than 60% of my monthly income into the establishment of, growth and ensuring of the best standards of education in 12 schools via Rochas Foundation (@rochas_fdn) in different states in Nigeria. This is in addition to one Rochas Foundation College of Africa (ROFOCA) that caters 100% free for students from over 20 nations in Africa.

Fellow Nigerians, My Motivation is the joy I see in the face of young children who had otherwise given up all hope of education.
My motivation is coming to the reality of hope that happens when otherwise rejected persons realize how their life can have meaning once again.

My motivation is the tears of pure delight I many times cry in my chambers when I hear the strides some of our students from years ago are making in various sectors all over the world.

My motivation is the covenant I have made with God to continue blessing others as He keeps blessing me.

These are the motivation that keeps me awake on many nights studying books and taking courses on business management and profitability just so my businesses stay profitable enough to fund this vision.

Nigeria is a unique nation.
There are not many nations in the world where multiple ethnic groups make up one nation.
This multi-ethnicity is our strength.

Lagos, Edo, Ondo and Ogun brings their Bitumen,
Enugu bring its coal,
Akwa Ibom, Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Imo cause us to shine with its Oil and Gas,
We become better as Kano provides Lead and Zinc,
Our great nation soars as we are Salted by Cross River and Ebonyi.

I could go on and on and on but that which I desire that we see is that this nation indeed can be united in brotherhood for greatness.

The mood of our nation pangs with dire calls for a leader that can truly unite this country.
Nigeria will indeed be great again.

The existence of every single innovation in our world can be traced directly to women.
We would not exist as the human race but for women.

From Naijabrandchick to @odun_eweniyi up to every other woman building innovative solutions for our tech and digital needs, we would never not be indebted to women.

From the women who toil day in and out to keep our roads clean to the women involved in the running of our nation, to every woman in every corporate office doing their jobs with diligence, up to every mother who goes leaps and bounds for her family, and even to the young woman aspiring to make her mark in our world; we desire to let you know that we are most grateful to you as a nation.

You matter and are not second class irrespective of your economic, ethnic, educational, physical and religious reality or choices.

Thank you for all you do for our nation and our world.
