Ivory Coast qualified as the best loser but have now made it to the finals. They had a second chance and took it seriously. Don't play with the second chance life gives you. Ivory Coast came from a one-man down to equalize at the dying minutes of the match against Mali. They eventually won the game. Don't give up on yourself! Don't look down on people too. Senegal did not lose any match at group stage, but when they played against Ivory Coast that lost 2 matches, they were eliminated. Such is life Ivory Coast mobilized support for Morocco to beat Zambia so that they can qualify. Some of those supporting you may not really like you. They may just be using your success for their gain. Morocco went home after helping Ivory Coast to qualify to the final. Don't let anyone use you for any gain that does not benefit you. Nigeria's second goal at the semi-finals was disallowed because of an earlier foul at the build up. The goal was not only cancelled but South Africa were awarded a penalty that gave them the equalizer. Such is life, when you think you have lost, God may give you a redemption to turn ashes into beauty. You can add yours... |

Politics / Makinde Seeks 5-year Single Tenure For Political Offices by Tekuzukite: 8:28am On Aug 17, 2023 |
Governor 'Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said that in order to avoid the issues that typically result from politicians seeking reelection a second time, the president, governors, members of the national legislature, and state assemblies should all be given a single five-year term. The governor made the call on Wednesday, at the retreat of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), held at Maja Avenue, Jericho, Ibadan. This is coming shortly after he was reelected as the governor of the state. Makinde noted that it has become essential for Nigerians to work together to rebuild the nation and reposition it on the path of sustainable economic growth and development, adding that the task of rebuilding the country remains the responsibility of Nigerians and should not be left to external actors. Makinde cautioned Nigerians, particularly those in leadership positions, to brace up for the task of rebuilding the country in line with the vision of the founding fathers. |
Religion / Why Did Elijah Run From Jezebel? by Tekuzukite: 3:16pm On Aug 16, 2023 |
There have been several discussions on this. Some believe Jezebel was a witch while others feel Elijah as just too tired to confront her. I feel Elijah was actually afraid. When God asked him why he was "running", he said he was the only prophet left and others had been killed. Maybe he felt God might not save him based on past prophets that Jezebel must have killled. Crime / Nurse Killed By Ritualists In Ibadan After Graduation Night Party by Tekuzukite: 2:48pm On Aug 16, 2023 |
The body of a young nurse was discovered without a womb after a night outing in Ibadan. The nurse, Omoniyi Boluwatife, was found dead and evacuated by the Police in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Boluwatife, a graduate of Lead City University was on Tuesday inducted into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, according to reports. She had reportedly gone to celebrate her recent induction into the nursing profession at a nightclub on Tuesday night before she died. In a recent viral video, the body of Boluwatife was seen on the floor. A source who preferred to be anonymous told PUNCH Metro that prior to the night before the incident, Boluwatife had seen her mother off to the motor park after she travelled from Port Harcourt to join her in the celebration of her induction into the nursing profession. He added, “Boluwatife was a member of my church, in fact, she gave testimony about her graduation last week Sunday after she cleared the carry-over course delaying her graduation. Reacting to the news of her death, the club where she reportedly went, Copacapana denied that the incident happened within their premise, adding that their management will not take responsibility for incidents that occur outside their premises. In a press statement that was made available to our correspondent on Friday, the management, said, “It saddens our heart to hear about the tragic event that happened to some customers after leaving our facility. “However, as a nightclub, we cannot take responsibility for incidents that occur outside our premises. Although, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. “Our nightclub prioritizes the safety of all our patrons. Our venue is equipped with top-notch security systems making it one of the most protected facilities in the city of Ibadan.” Reacting to the development, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Adewale Osifeso, said an investigation has commenced into the matter, adding, “Updates would be provided accordingly”. My office is quite a distance to my working place. Due to the recent fuel crises, I took public transport on Wednesday. On the way, I got to a major bus stop where I met a Doctor friend that works in UCH. He was going to board a cab to work when I asked about his car. He said he had parked it at home for the past one week as he cannot be struggling to buy fuel at an exorbitant price with his hard earned money. He went ahead to say, if there is an emergency that requires him to be at work urgently, the government should come and pick him at home. So sad but such is the state of mind of people. |

Crime / Death Sentence For Kidnappers That Killed 53-yr-old London Returnee by Tekuzukite: 10:28am On Jun 21, 2022 |
It’s been six years since the Animashaun family in Surulere Lagos were thrown into mourning over the death of their breadwinner, Kolawole Animashaun who had just relocated from London to Nigeria. After living in London for the most part of his life and raising a family, the late 53-year-old Kolawole decided it was time to return home. Not sure what to expect, he returned with only one of his daughters, leaving his wife and other children back in London. For a while, things appeared to be going on well for Kolawole as he gradually gained ground in a business venture. Within two years of his return, he was also able to buy a good property in Surulere. With everything going well, Kolawole was contemplating bringing back his entire family from London when the unexpected happened. Daughter recounts ordeal Kolawole’s daughter, Lola Animashaun who was with him until he was kidnapped, said he left their Ikorodu home for Surulere with one of his uncles who was sick. By the evening of that day, Lola said his father called to say that he was not returning home. Lola noted that she heard a strange voice in the background during their conversation but didn’t read much meaning to it. “During the call, I heard a strange laugh at the background. It was a strange and wicked kind of laughter. Immediately, I heard my father say, ‘what do you people mean,’ then he said to me, ‘I will call you back,’ and ended the call,” she narrated. Lola said she got worried when her father didn’t call back as he promised. “When he didn’t call back, I called him but his phone was switched off. At night, I tried his number but it wasn’t going. I called my uncle whom he had gone to drop and he said that my father had left his house.” Chat with kidnappers Unknown to Lola that her father had been kidnapped and his phone seized, she began to chat with the kidnappers believing that she was chatting her father. “I started chatting with my father’s kidnappers in the middle of the night thinking I was chatting with my father. They replied my chat and told me that he was fine that he went to Aguda to see a friend. On the second day, I called his line but he wasn’t responding. I told him to pick his call that he should no longer chat with me and that I was becoming scared. He replied and said he can’t call and that he was very busy.” Strange requests Lola said she got suspicious of the chat with her father when he started asking for his own personal information. Continuing her narrative, Lola said she reported that matter to the Police who advised her to continue communicating with the kidnappers while they proceed with their investigation. “One of them always told me that he was going to pluck out my father’s eyes and give it to the vultures. He also threatened that he was going to butcher my father and that after he was done with him, he will come after me. “He tormented me emotionally. He always said that I am a wicked and heartless child that I don’t want to sell my father’s property and send him the money. “I told him that the money is not the problem but that he should just let me hear my father’s voice to know that he is fine. But on and on he was just playing with our intelligence. N5m ransom “At first, they demanded N5 million ransom but later reduced it to N2 million. When we couldn’t raise the money, they said we should send N100,000 for my father’s drugs which we did. I also sent them another N100, 000 for recharge card. After that, they told me to sell all my father’s property and send them the money. “I told them that I wasn’t going to sell anything because it appears that my father has been killed. He told me he was coming after me to show me my father’s corpse and I told him to come because I was already lost and tired. I deleted my whatsapp because it was our means of communication, I told police I could no longer continue with the chat. “I was always living in fear, going from church to mosque. I also spent money consulting native doctors all to no avail.” He told me to get my dad’s drug else he was going to let him die. We sent N10,000 for his drug. After then, we sent him another N100,000 to let him know that we will give him money if he allows us to just hear from my father. One of the kidnappers kept calling different contacts on my father’s phone, telling them different stories. Although I made a payment to my father’s account number, but unfortunately for him, he forwarded his own account number to one of my dad’s friends. When we noticed that the Police investigation was not yielding any positive response after we spent a lot of money, one of my aunts asked me to write a petition to DSS office located at Magodo, Lagos. After much effort, the two masterminds behind Kolawole’s kidnap, Bode Fabiyi and Afeez Ahmed, were arraigned before the Lagos High Court, sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos in 2017. The Lagos State prosecution led by Mrs. Adeshina Adekunle-Bello and Mrs Titilayo Olanrewaju-Daud, told the court that the defendants conspired amongst themselves to kill the victim, Kolawole Animashaun. She said that the duo, after kidnapping Animashaun, blindfolded him, tied him up and gagged his mouth before strangling him to death. The prosecution also told the court that they broke the head of the deceased with a big sledge hammer before strangling him to death and dumped his corpse in a soakaway pit. Olanrewaju-Daud further told the court that Bode Fabiyi and Afeez Ahmed, also sold the deceased’s car and still demanded for ransom from his family. Death sentence After five years of trial, Justice Modupe Nico-Clay sentenced the defendants to death by hanging for kidnapping and killing Kolawole. The judge also sentenced them to 77 years imprisonment after finding them guilty of the offence of conspiracy to murder, kidnapping, murder, collecting of ransom and dumping of corpse in a soakaway pit. She further sentenced them to 14 years imprisonment for the first count and sentenced them to death on the second count charge and 21 years each for counts 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Justice Nico-Clay stated that the prosecution has been able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt that the convicts committed the offence. The judge held that the offence of conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping has been established. “That the deceased died, that it was the defendant that caused the death of the deceased.” Source: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/06/how-53-yr-old-london-returnee-was-killed-dumped-in-septic-tank/ 1 Like |
Crime / Bus Driver Kills, Dumps Colleague’s Corpse At Lagos Park by Tekuzukite: 10:15am On Jun 21, 2022 |
There was tension in the Berger area of Lagos State on Monday after the lifeless body of a bus driver was found near a motor park. The deceased, identified only as Wasiu, was alleged to have been dumped close to the entrance of the park around midnight. PUNCH Metro gathered that the late driver, who plied the Ishaga-Fagba route, had a confrontation with a colleague from another park on Sunday, which resulted in a fight between them. An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Wasiu picked a fight with someone at the park and went to pick a bottle. But when he smashed it on the ground, the broken pieces hit the baby of a nearby alcohol seller; the little child started bleeding.” Claims that the baby, who was rushed to a hospital, died, were said to have infuriated Ikman, his father. The eyewitness said Ikman mobilised his colleagues and attacked Wasiu with weapons until he became unconscious. Our correspondent, who saw the corpse, observed that there was no mark of violence on the body, except the swollen face. Some of his colleagues, who also witnessed the incident, said he might have suffered internal bleeding. Another source said, “Ikman was a close friend to Wasiu. He also drives a commercial bus plying the Berger-Obalende route. Wasiu would not have died, but Ikman deliberately left him unconscious on the floor after the attack without any attempt to revive him.” Some road transport workers at the bus park, believed to be friends of the deceased, protested the decision to leave the body at the park, as one of them claimed it was an attempt to implicate them. Normalcy was later restored when a team of police officers from the Ojodu division arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased, who arrived from Ibadan that Monday morning, were seen perfecting plans to take the body away for burial. But the police resisted the move. The body was later taken by the cops, who were joined by relatives of the deceased in a truck. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not aware of the incident. Source: https://punchng.com/bus-driver-kills-dumps-colleagues-corpse-at-lagos-park/ |
