"As regards Dr fagbohun, i will give a comprehensive breakdown of his charges when wife puts to bed. My only advice is intending users shouldn't waste money doing all the tests in Nigeria because he may still ask you to rerun like 80% of it. So just do a few. I wasted some cash on this already. All in all its been fun."

@Tvegas: Good to hear your own POE experience, I am sure your Americana baby go know say him papa dey town. My wife's next appointment with Dr. Fagbohun is this Wednesday, it won't be bad if you guys can form a small naija-Fagbohun football team o. I'll send a PM to you.

Please where's your wife staying in Houston, TX? I'm looking for somewhere for my cousin to stay; she wants to come in after Xmas, and will be seeing Dr. Fagbohun as well.

@ Tha Guv,
The Doctor fees may differ, if your wife asks her friend...am sure she will be paying a different amount from my wife.

The doctor fees covers the lab tests, but not hospital stay.

I stated that the hospital fees is 2500 dollars. There are different factors that determine how much you end up paying. 1. The number of tests you are required to do. 2. the time at which you registered with the Doctor (for e.g if you register at less than 32 weeks, you may still require some other tests compared to someone who registered at 34 weeks; just an illustration). 3. If there is any complications, type of delivery etc...

My wife did most of the tests in Nigeria before travelling so we saved some money.

Once Sheri replies the mail, she will include the list of all lab tests and the fees, Dr La's fee and any other fees....

Thank you. I have a clearer picture now.

@favored gal,
My wife's first appointment with Dr La went well. I asked Dr La if he used Memorial Hermann, he said he doesn't use them anymore and that WHMC is cheaper. We were able to do most of the tests in Naija so that helped us saved some money, we have paid $2775 so far. This includes doctors fees, a full scan, and other lab tests that are compulsory in the US.

We are yet to pay for the hospital fees ($2500), my wife will be paying that next week. Guess she will be seeing emispackage next week.... cheesy

so far I am impressed with the service received at Dr La Office and i have no regrets. I have also referred 2 persons since my wife's last appointment with him.

Thanks emispackage for your support.

My wife was at Dr La's office today to witness her friend's appointment (they actually ran into each other at the mosque y'day). She was told by Sherry (that's what the name sounded like over the phone) that she had to have prior communication if she wanted to use the doctor. I called Sherry immediately and sent an email. Said she'd try to respond before Thursday, with necessary info including pricing, to determine whether Dr La can take her.
Can I work with these prices you quoted for my budget? What do they cover? I mean, hospital stay, lab tests, as she didn't do any before leaving Nigeria, pre-natal checks, etc?
I'll appreciate your urgent response, please.

Phema:

And what if they ask why it is so important to you that it became a life long dream?

Well, they didn't ask me. And I didn't say mine was the best answer; I only stated what I told them. Others can contribute their experiences and whoever is going for the interview can take a piece of this and a piece of that for his/her own response. I think they just wanna see sincerity in your response.

jyde2014: Good Morning all;
Pls what is the best answer to give if asked by a consular officer on the reasons why you wanna have your baby in the united states?
Thanks.

I told them it's been my lifelong dream and when I got married, I discussed it with my wife and we discovered we had the same aspirations. We then set up an account for that purpose and started contributing towards it. I think that saves you the explanation about poor medical facilities here, and your financial statements.
Good luck!

For El Paso, Texas, visit www.doctoresparati.com and enroll in their birthing program for $150. Once they get your payment, they will ask you for when you want an appointment scheduled and then send you a letter of medical responsibility with your desired appointment date, and cost of the "treatment" stated in the letter. That's what the embassy wants to see.
Good luck!

Just like I and everybody else did, all the answers are on this thread; just take your time to go through from Page 1! I started on this thread and got El Paso info from here. If it means anything to you, it shouldn't be much of a job to read through. www.doctoresparati.com
Ciao!

todimski: Hello all
this forum has been fantastic. Please I would appreciate your help
my first birth was difficult and I would like to have my second in the US. I intend to
1. Fill my form declaring that the purpose of my visit is to give birth in the US and then vacation affer.
2. By the time I appear for the interview it will be obvious would also state same when asked. This is to clear any doubt at any POE since it is not illegal to go give birth in the US. Of course I will have handy al necessary documentation and cash.
what are my chances

Your chances are very high. I went with my wife last week and told the CO we want to have our baby in the US, that it's been our lifelong dream. She asked for a doctor's letter and we showed her the letter from El Paso. She asked how we were gonna pay for the trip, I showed her my bank letter and statement of account with a figure exceeding the amount stated in the El Paso letter. She gave her 2 years, B1/B2!
She leaves next week for El Paso via IAH. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Hi all!
I have been following this trend for a bit now from pages 1 to 41; quite informative and interesting, I must say.
My first contact email to the Doctoresparati crew was on 28th September, 2013 and the response was almost immediately, just like auto-response. Several phone calls back and forth between Rodolfo Gomez and I convinced me. I made the $150 enrolment payment and got the letter of medical responsibility for my wife within an hour. We made our application and got a 26 November, 0730 appointment and it went like this:
Me: How are you Ma'am?
CO: I'm fine, good morning. Passports and applications, please?
CO: How long have you both been married?
Me: About 3 months now. I have always promised to take her with me on one of my trips to the US, vacationing, y'know.
CO: Have you ever been outside Nigeria, Ma'am?
My wife: No.
CO: How many times have you been to the US?
Me: 4/5 times now or so.
Does some typing...
CO: I can see you've had an M-1 at some point; did you do some kind of training?
Me: That's correct, I'm a helicopter pilot and that visa was from my flight training school.
CO: OK, you also had a B1/B2?
Me: Yes, but I never used it.
CO: I also see an A2; did you go on an official trip?
Me: yeah, just like this one.
CO: This vacation is official?
Me: Actually, I'm going for a recurrent to enable me renew my pilot's licence, which the Nigeria Police is paying for. My wife is going to have our baby as she is about 24 weeks pregnant(I wink at the CO). It has always been our desire to have our children in the US.
CO: Oh, OK. So, do you have communication with a doctor or something?
Me: Yes. (I show her the El Paso letter, she reads through, looks at me, and goes back to the letter)
CO: Do you speak Spanish? Why this hospital?
Me: I don't speak Spanish, but as you can see, we communicated in English.
CO: Yes, I see that but I can see Spanish on the letterhead; meaning a lot of people choose the hospital because they speak Spanish.
Me: Well, like I said, it's been a lifelong dream and I just did a lot of asking around about having my child in the US.
CO: and a lot of people go to El Paso cos there's lots of Spanish people.
Me: There's Spanish people all over America.
CO: so, Who did you ask?
Me: I asked Google. And I discovered that it is what they know how to do best.
She just burst out laughing...
Me: And I followed a forum where a lot of people gave good reviews about the place. (I was referring to this wonderful forum!) I communicated with them and their response and attention was awesome. I enrolled her and now we're here!
CO: How long would you be staying, Ma'am?
My wife: 3 months.
CO: And you sir?
Me: Well, my training is only 4 days, but I might do another week just to get her settled in and probably take some pictures to bring back home.
CO: When is the baby due?
Me: Sometime in March.
CO: Will she be having this baby at El Paso?
Me: Yes.
CO: Will she be staying at a hotel or there's another arrangement?
Me: She will be staying with my uncle's family in Houston until she's ready to pop.
CO: So, how will you pay for this?
Me: I have an account set up for this purpose long time ago and I've been making monthly contributions into it.
CO: Can I see a bank document?
Me: Sure!
I handed over the bank statement which she looks at briefly and returned.
She then goes on to say she needed to do some inquiry about my training, goes inside for about 5 minutes after which she made some more notes on the computer and told me I needed to bring an I-20 from my training institution so I can qualify for the M status while on vacation with my wife. Otherwise, we might get turned back at the POE, something we wouldn't want to happen.
CO: Ma'am, your visa will be ready from Friday, as there's a holiday on Thursday, but I'll be holding on to your passport Sir, until you can bring the I-20 (I'm not refusing you, but I wanna do it right)...
Me, ...cutting in: Oh! Thanksgiving!
CO: Yeah.
Me: That means we're gonna be having plenty of turkey here then!
CO, smiling: WE are gonna be having turkey, but not here.
Me: Do have yourself a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday then!

And that was it!
I hope to go back there next week with the I-20, and after paying another application fee. cry

If you are interested, I can send you my doctors contact. I delivered in WHMC recently and his fees are quite reasonable.

Please I am equally interested in West Houston Med Ctr., if you'll share the doc's contact.
