Politics / Re: FG Spent ₦1 Billion On Tinubu’s Trip To Ethiopia, ₦650 Million On Honorarium by ThebestPromise: 5:30pm On Jun 27
It is a pity we found ourselves where we are but that has always been the practice all over the world including the developed countries. From OBJ to YARADUA to GET to PMB to BAT, the expanses have always been in millions of dollars.

My own take is just that the travellings should be reduced to the bearest minimum to save money.

According to Nairametrics and confirmed by Channels news, Nigeiria spent 96.3℅ of total revenue to service foreign debts ( alone) in 2022.

The removal of subsidies dragged it to 76% in 2023 accounting year.

As chief economic adviser of the state, why couldn't the state attracted FDIs for 8 years?

Governance is not measured by eloquency but through better understanding of the state.

I would have preferred Olumide Akpata but for Fairness and equity.

I wish Edo State well.

I know that many people will fall for it. As a former governor, you have access to the VIP lounge in any of the public airports in Nigeria. Ameachi is very rich to afford private guards or use PJ.

The essence of what he has done is to put a political stunt and very soon you will see the politicians eating corns at the public spaces.

It is very disheartening that some people are supporting the maltreatment of the state workers.

The mantra of LP is a new Nigeria where things work and as nature will have it, LP has a state to proof that they mean business.

I expect the governor to sort things out before it turns to mockery.
Politics / Re: What Is Your Rating Of Tinubu’s Administration In One Year? by ThebestPromise: 3:52pm On May 19
My Appraisal of President Tinubu:

1. Education: 6/10 . The first year has seen a peaceful atmosphere in our education sector. There has been no industrial actions and to cap it all, the outstanding payments to the university and polytechnic workers are cleared or ongoing.

2. Defence: 7/10 . Although there are pockets of insurrections here and there but there has been a visible achievements in the North and South.

3. Agriculture: 4/10. The major Flashpoint of inflation in Nigeria is food inflation. One would have expected the ministry to reduce the Inflation but nothing much has been seen.

4. Transportation: 4/10. The ministry performed below average. The only achievement was the Port Harcourt to Aba.

5. Works : 9.5/10. The ministry has covered more areas and the quality is top notch. The minister is audacious and working the talking.

6. FCT: 9.5/10. The minister demonstrated that his mojo is still active. He was able to cover more roads and the icing was the light rail.

7. Interior : 8/10. The ministry was the early flasher of the government. The clearance of the passport backlogs and the airport immigration automation.

8. Finance : 6/10. The ministry was able to introduce some reforms which gave confidence to investors as evidenced in over subscription of bonds.

9. Health: 6/10. The ministry has not done much in the are area of tangible infrastructures but the policies are okay and expected to be the headliner of the administration in the second year.

10. Blue Economy: 3/10. The prospect of the ministry has not been tapped and the minister looks missing

11. Steel Development: 2/10. Despite having the job narrowed to Ajaokuta as a pilot program. The minister has not been coherent about his vision or knowledge about what the ministry entails.

To be continued.

For those hailing Sim, the center of any government audit is the accountant general because he keeps the financial records and advise the government on spendings.

So, who will answer questions about the governance during the Wike tenure? It is the same Sim and it is his own admission that will nail Wike and himself.

Wike as a smart guy will push the load to the commissioner of finance and Sim.

Sim can't win the battle. Read the "My Watch" of Obj and understand the political of Nigeria.

What if the persons with Sim are planted by Wike to monitor him and his ploys?

Sim is too loud, playing to gallery and predictable. You can't fight a principality like Wike with strength but intelligence.

We all know that the next stage is demolition of properties.

If Wike can fight PDP to a standstill then Sim should not sleep deep.

Politics / Re: Gale Of Resignations Hit Edo PDP by ThebestPromise: 5:53pm On May 08
The battle ground is Edo South Senatorial District.

The mojo that worked for Obaseki then were the choice of Ize Iyamu whose Comrade had denigrated before, the support of the Governor's Forum headed by Fayemi, the presidency support and Wike financial war chest.

The impact of Wike camp ( Legacy ) will be felt massively. The Legacy group dominates the Edo Central and the group controls the Tony Anienth bloc. Don't forget that Senator Monday is part of Tony Anienth bloc ( a major stakeholder at that ).

The Philip Shuaibu was badly managed by Obaseki and it will hurt PDP greatly. While Obaseki was the head of the technocrats in his government, Shuaibu was the Manager of the political structure of the government. Edo North is gone already.

The Senator Ighoride and Ize Iyamu in the same camp is a force to reckon with in Edo South. The only bloc against APC in the South that is no more strong like before is Igbinedon bloc.

The failure of Obaseki will affect the chances of Asue Ighodaro because as the economic adviser, Edo could not attract a single FDI for years .

Let's watch how it will pan out
Politics / Re: Are Bello, El-Rufai's Ordeals In The Tinubu Era A Betrayal Of Northern Allies? by ThebestPromise: 9:07pm On Apr 30
Chief Segun Sowunmi was playing on people's intelligence by linking the predicament of the duo to PBAT. Why?

It was in the public domain that the predicament of both the El Rufai and GYB started during the tenure of fPMB.

El Rufai was having issues with the southern kaduna and the shites group. He was reported to the ICC for genocide and other related offences. The document was what nailed him and got him disqualified. Funny enough, it was Segun Sowunmi's friend that raised the issue ( his Yoruba brother). If PBAT had gone ahead to over rule him, the same people would have said he has terrorists in his government. The issue between El Rufai and his godson is beyond PBAT and the best option he has taken not to interfere.

You will recall that GYB was having a running battle with EFCC as far as 2020 in which his cousin was arrested. In real sense, PBAT should be celebrated by GYB' camp for allowing GYB to handpick his successor who happened to come from his ward and his LG.

Impunity should not be celebrated. GYB should learn from Fayose and others who went to EFCC without public paparazzi.

In conclusion, both of them know better and as such will prefer to align with PBAT to have control of their bloc. They should learn from RA who would have been a major voice in SS politics if not that he allowed himself to be pushed into political oblivion.
Religion / Re: Is It True The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Was Sex? (Photo) by ThebestPromise: 5:56pm On Apr 21
No.

Don't forget that when the woman ate the fruit the man was not there and it was later she told the man about it.

The simple questions to unravel the truth will be:
1. Could Adam have made love to Eve in absential?
2. Was Adam there when the sarpent decieved the Eve?
3. If the fruit was sex, why did Adam told God that it was the woman that gave him the fruit to eat?.

In conclusion, the bible said God pushed them out of the garden so that they will not eat from the tree of life and become immortal. This shows that the sins have nothing to do with sex and if there was connection he would have removed the genitals and leave them in the garden instead of pursuing them

Politics / Re: Top 6 Projects In Northern Nigeria by ThebestPromise: 9:20pm On Apr 06
[With open minded you will agree that there is need for the coastal road the same way the government is putting finishing touches to Lagos Abuja Super Highway

1 Revamping of Ports in other parts of the Country: The ports are presently being advanced for PPP concession arrangement and such the best will be to move to another line of development.

2. Wharf and Tincan : With the connection of Apapa port to the railway line connecting to Ibadan, the dry port in ibadan has been activated and already in use. There cargo coaches moving containers to Ibadan daily and freeing up spaces for more clearance. This is part of the reasons the IGR has increased of geometrically.

Do we need the coastal road? In my opinion, YES because it will create many opportunities in that corridors. The coastal communities have been long abandoned thus starving them of the needed development.

The coastal road will help farmers in Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Ogun, Osun and part of Oyo States to move their farm produce to Lagos deep sea port in Lagos . Because of lack of storage facilities for aquatic products, the coastal road will avail them nearness to the cities and access to more customers.

Is the cost too much? NO because it will the ND the needed motivation and sense of belonging in the project Nigeria. Dont forgot there is no railway lines linking the ND or SE to other states or regions. The East West road has become a scourge and lost the ephoria that greeted the commencement.

That road when completed will generate more revenue to the FG and state governments in that axis.

quote author=Believeintruth post=129297340]

The project makes no economic sense. I feel it is covert way to let FG to the coastal road instead of Lagos State government. In hindsight you want to do a road to link Lagos to Calabar and put trains to move goods to calabar, when there are ports in Calabar, PH and Warri in need of revamping and expansion to be like Apapa Ports. That trillions can be put to use expanding those ports and turning Nigeria to a huge maritime hub servicing Niger,Chad and Central African Republic. Right now the maritime hubs of West Africa are Ghana and Cote D'ivoire and these guys have already gone automated with their ports. Right now it is 5 times expensive to move your products from the wharf that shopping it in to the country. That alone is not good for business. Why can't they open and expa d other ports this is question that people have been asking. The road economically is not the best it is a waste, the ROI will not be good for the country.[/quote]
Politics / Re: Monday Okpebholo Declared APC Governorship Candidate In Edo by ThebestPromise: 11:51pm On Feb 23
Behold the next Governor of Edo State.

Oshiomole is still the leader of APC in Edo State. Edo North is secured for APC because Shuaibu that would have given APC a little run for their money is in odd with the PDP working.

Anslem and co in the central will work their livers out to deliver APC to spite Obaseki who they believed betrayed them. There is possibility of Dan Orbih working for Monday to win.

The APC candidate was endorsed by Ize Iyamu and other APC contestants in the South .

I would have preferred Ighodalo but things are not adding up base on the structure he's standing on.

Akpata of the LP may not fly because of mutual understanding on power rotation to Central.

Edo political bigwigs are not in tandem with Obaseki so expect a backlash.
seunmsg:

Will Oshiomhole and his Edo north people back him considering the bad blood from the primary election?

The guy is popular in Edo Central though. He defeated PDP for the first time since 1999 to emerge as senator representing Edo Central. The Benin people of Edo South have no candidate in this election so their votes will be divided depending on the candidate of LP. If Oshiomole can deliver Edo North for him, he may win the election.

Politics / Re: We Did Not Make The Payments As Requested By Minister, Edu - Accountant-General by ThebestPromise: 3:39pm On Jan 06
Like I have always been saying, the problem is never the elected or the appointees but rather the institutional failures. While the country moved from military to the civilian government, the system has not changed. Bring AA, PO or anyone the system will still fail them. What we need is institutional reforms.

The whole scenario is not strange to the civil servants but the saving grace was that the money did not scale through the office of the AGF.

And as per the other one that was caught, the money was from the 2023 budget and I suspect the money was released to the caucus that raised it reason there was a backlash.

Henceforth, there should a digital way through which monies can be paid without hassle.

For example, the government can use the Post Office to dispense the cash to the vulnerable ones. The vulnerable ones should be enumerated and given a loaded debit card which will be loaded via fintechs.
Politics / My Office Does Not Make Payments On Behalf Of Mdas, AGF Clarifies The AGF Explai by ThebestPromise: 3:08pm On Jan 06
The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, has clarified that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation does not make payments on behalf of MDAs for projects and programmes implemented by the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).

The AGF was reacting to media reports concerning a request from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for payment of grants to vulnerable groups in some States of the Federation.

She stated that allocations are released to self-accounting MDAs in line with the budget and such MDAs are responsible for the implementation of their projects and payments for such projects.

In a statement in Abuja, the AGF explained that although her Office received the said request from the Ministry, it did not carry out the payment.

According to her, the Ministry was however advised on the appropriate steps to take in making such payments in line with the established payment procedure.

The AGF noted that in such situations, payments are usually processed by the affected Ministries as self-accounting entities and no bulk payment is supposed to be made to an individual’s account in the name of Project Accountant.

She added that such payment should be sent to the beneficiaries through their verified bank accounts.

Dr. Madein reiterated her determination to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency in the management of public finances. She advised MDAs to always ensure that the requisite steps are taken in carrying out financial transactions.

Politics / Re: PDP Is A Party Of Stomach Infrastructure, Obi/LP Are The Opposition - Okonkwo by ThebestPromise: 9:09pm On Jan 03
Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo should know that politics is not about eloquency and granting interview. As it stands, PDP is miles ahead. While the PDP governors ( although not all) are still criitising PBAT, the only governor of LP is praising PBAT almost every month. Don't forget he was in APC for years and only left because he could not get the ticket.

What do I expect from LP? Set up a shadow cabinet and appoint a very brilliant and irritating egghead like baba Lai Mohammed. There were many opportunities for them to hit the present government below the belt but they failed woefully. Take for instance, the free ride program. I expected LP to request for the register and the total cost of the program. Request for full explanation on how the money will be paid since it wasn't appropriated?

PBAT is a very genius and dangerous politician. You can't defeat him with just mere talking or visitation. 2027 is gone already because Kano and Rivers are both 100 percent sure for him and Lagos State too.

Listen to the interview clips of Segun Sowunmi and Bwala to understand PBAT at least 50%.

There are ways that can be done and it will still be beneficial to the masses. This can be done through tangible and intangible means.

If the country decides to hold a stake in the Agro allied industries using Lagos business Model, the price can be controlled instead of throwing the masses under the capitalist buses.

The state can also mopped up the products and sell through credit facilities from States to Local governments. The IBB government was doing and making it a win win scenarios for stakeholders.

Gerrard59:

Good analysis, but the bold has been cancelled. Good a thing, as it would worsen the industry. Once commodities prices are regulated by the government, it brings forth penury. It is agro-commodites o, not one valuable resource. Even the most successful cartel - OPEC - has found it difficult to ensure higher prices for its members because of the growing number of oil producers outside the organisation.

Price controls do more harm than good (it does no good sef) to any economy or industry or country.
Agriculture / Re: Naira Devaluation: Neighbouring Countries, Others Feast On Nigeria’s Cheap Grain by ThebestPromise: 6:36pm On Dec 30, 2023
In one breath you said nigeria as a country produces nothing but only consumes and now you are blaming the government for a policy that will self motivate the farmers.

Let me break it down so that many will understand it better:

1. The purpose of dealuation of currency is to stimulate production for exportation.

2. More monies to the farmers will literally mean increase of investment in Agro allied businesses.

3. More production and more players in the industry will drop the price in the long run and increase employment rates in the country.

4. If implementated, the commodity produce system promised by the PBAT will protect the commodity market in Nigeria.

5. Unlike the previous years, despite the abnormal last minutedemands for local rice, the market did not shake because there is more than enough to sell.

Kudos should be given to GEJ that started it, PMB that modified it and took it to another level and PBAT that continued with the policy.

It is just a matter of time before things will start getting to shapes if we don't relent as a country. Presently, no country in the world is having it easy.

The winner was Sim Fubara. The PDP governors failed him unlike Obaseki during his saga with Oshiomole. There was no way SIM would have won the battle because the louder noises around him were his kinsmen. Even if the Wike loyalists were dropped from the house, they would have returned back through the election.

As it is, the tenure is secured to some extent and second tenure almost done and dusted for him.

The President anticipates that the new leadership across this critical sector will uphold the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people as primary and sacrosanct in all of their administrative activities. Due to the high cost of underperformance in the sector, the President demands the immediate establishment of world-class policy design, implementation, and regulatory frameworks to reposition the sector in alignment with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

I think many of the people commenting on the project don't know much about Ado Ekiti mostly the Iworoko junction the governor was reffering to.

Because of the traffic from Ekiti State University and other traffic laden establishment in that axis, there is need for a ring road in that particular place. The ring road will free the traffic in that place and also dispatch the many vehicles passing that route to the North ( Iworoko to Kaba ( Kogi State)) and other adjourning roads.

As for the cottage industries in that art of the state, the IPP is already completed and there is possibllity of the state buying out of BEDC anytime soon.

Tinubu came third, inec catapulted him to first, it was not the division of pdp that robbed any party, but the bias of inec, pdp didn't divide in 2019 and won, while APC came second, but then again, inec announced APC, it's a match where APC lackey is the referee, the problem is from 1999 constitution, which gives president power to appoint the inec chairman, aka referee, instead of a group of party nominates as done in civilized democracy, pdp's Jonathan failed to manipulate this lacuna, because of his lack of criminal intelligence, but APC's tinubu being a criminal has been using it effectively, recall also that the president appoints the chief justice, so anybody can go to court but can't win APC in,any presidential election dispute
With these arrangements, even if all Nigerians voted for another party, APC will still win, 1999 constitution removed the power of the people and put in the hands of the president, this enslaving the people.

Oga, emotions don't win election. APC won the election because the opposition parties were not prepared to win the election. Just look at the off cycle elections just concluded. In kogi, the PDP elements conspired against Dino and despite APC implosion that geared up SDP, the PDP came 3rd. In Imo the same thing. What APC was to unite Rochas faction and other parties were no where to be found. In Bayelsa, APC wasn't prepared and Diri won despite non performance because APC wasn't serious to wrestle power.

Because of the timing and fear of unknown, his name was unilaterally sent to INEC without primary. The matter was brought to bear when NNPP had the implosion that leaders could not resolved because of ego.

So, the issue here is deeper than pre election matter because there was no basis for him to contest in the first place because he belongs to no party.

The law says for you to contest for an election, you must belong to a political party. Base on this fact, it can't be seen as pre electoral issue rather a fundamental requirement one.

The lesson in all these issues coming out from the post electoral legal brouhaha to me will be that don't be in a hurry to get things done rightly. APC as a party was aware that the probability of winning the election would be very slim hence they work through technicallites and focusing on a limited and modest votes from less contestous region and states.
