GEJ increased the allowance and the payment started just immediately, Buhari increased corpers allowance, the payment kicked start immediately. But one self acclaimed first class illiterate accountant want to suffocate corpers with hardship and lies.
Point of correction, Buhari didn't start implementing untill January 2020, despite adjusting the minimum wage around September 2019, and never paid arrears

The length of days is not a good yardstick to judge. The real question to be asked is how many kilometers can it cover with a single (full) charge and at what average speed.

Kudos to innoson though. That's the way to go in the long term.

The NYSC Allowee will automatically be 77K. I don't know if arrears will be paid anyway, but as soon as the National Assembly passes the new minimum wage bill, payment will begin. So congratulations to them

Career / Re: At What Rate Will Salaries Be Increased On New ₦70,000 Minimum Wage? by theowane: 10:02pm On Jul 18, 2024
Let me try to answer from my little knowledge of the civil service. Now this will be the job of the NSIWC to determine, it will depend on the Conolidated salary structure. The higher your Grade level, the lower the percentage increase. For example, in 2019, when the minimum wage was increased to 30K, from 18K, (which was about 80%) the consequential adjustment for core civil servants ie Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) was:
GL 07: 23.2%, GL 08: 20%, GL 09: 19%, GL 10: 14, 16%, while GL 15-17 was 14%.

In this case, the minimum wage was increased by about 140%. I believe the adjustment from GL 7 will begin from like 30/35% down to like 20% for GL 17.

Just my opinion, but it shouldn't be far from it. The NSIWC must have complied the Breakdown and sent to the Minister of Finance, who will in turn brief Mr President then Mr President will look at it and take a final decision. I think that's what really happened.

Politics / Re: Nigeria’s 4.5GW Electricity Generation Is Shameful, Says Tinubu by theowane: 2:24pm On Jul 06, 2024
BAT and APC are a very clueless people. Even my great grand mother in the village knows that it is shameful for Nigeria to generate less than 5000 MW of electricity, ofcourse it is not news, and what is also not news is BAT and APC never gave a road map as to how inadequate electricity/power will be improved when campaigning, so i won't question why it remains so. All of us MUST enjoy the less than 5000 MW and do load shedding where necessary. We MUST "enjoy" this govt together. By the time BAT and APC is through with Nigeria, we won't recognise it. 😆

Sorry, b4 I forget, somebody help me tell Mr President that der is a difference btw Power generation and power transnsmission. You can generate 20,000 MW of power, yet it will be useless if you can't transmit. Please remind him too that our transmission lines are as bad as our generation. Thank you

Any Southern Governor who can't pay 62k as minimum wage should resign immediately, let someone who can think out of the box occupy the position.

62k is barely 2100 daily which is not enough to feed anybody for a day, I wonder why anybody will want to work for 62k monthly in the first place, like how have you been able to feed yourself and your family.

Ps. Prayers to anybody earning less than 100k monthly today while working to build someone else business or dream, we go get am clear one day.
Pls who is talking 62K! Why are you lowering the standard for crying out loud. Are Nigerians this gullible!

Politics / Re: How Is Minimum Wage Calculated ? by theowane: 1:16am On Jun 08, 2024
OffsahBoye:

Will this percentage be that of salary or of the increment in the wage
Let's say the MW moved from 30-90k
Will the increment be a percentage of the 90k or of the salary each level was collecting before?
It will be of the old Salary, but ofcourse the percentage will be far higher this time cos the percentage increase from 30K to the present one would be higher.

Mind you, assuming, but not concededing that the MW is increased to 90K, it will be a 200% increase. That of 2019 was less than 50%, therefore the consequential adjustment too will be higher.
I assume for level GL 7 to 8 it will be about 100% in this case, then going down as the GL increases...
Just my humble thoughts oooooo

Toh

My own curiosity is, if some states are still paying the N18k minimum wage claiming they can't afford N30k.

How then do you expect such states to pay anything above N100k?

We are even yet to talk about the private sectors. Would they be able to afford above N100k minimum wage? Even if the minimum wage is pegged around N80k, there would still be lay off.

How about the inflation the ridiculous amount N464k abi na how much NLC would cause?

https://www.nairaland.com/8113134/n70-n80k-realistic-minimum-wage

That's daft thinking with all due respect. Because they don't pay 30K doesn't mean they can't pay,and because they ain't paying doesn't mean you should just let it be. Plus do you know the revenue accrued to these states after subsidy removal?? If you do, you go carry placard go street protest.

Politics / Re: Maintain Minimum Wage At N30,000.00 But Give Workers 3 Things??? by theowane: 4:53pm On May 16, 2024
KnowAll:
1. Free transport to work

2. Subsidised homes. Like the ones built by shagari in the 80’s . Little one two & 3 bedroom houses. They would pay N5000.00 per month

3. Build large cooperative stores that would sell groceries at rock bottom price. That means government would buy fruit and vegetables from farmers and subsidies them. Including meat rice& fish.

It can be done. There would be know reasons to increase wages which would eventually lead to a runaway inflation. The 650,000 labour is asking for would lead to runaway inflation just like in Zimbabwe.

Are you saying all Nigerians (both Govt and private company) workers will get subsidised houses plus free transport? How will all the workers genuinely access subsidised food I beg??

It won't work in this Nigerin setting

Oga say well done to obaseki, when i hear that Sanwo olu did same thing in lagos last week i say well done to him no be every time you go dey play politics of bitterness.
Under what strength are they standing on to increase minimum wage please.

I wouldn't call this the minimum wage, it is a technical increase to the minimum wage of 30K.

The Tripatite committee is still yet to recommend a new minimum wage so all these ones are just to mitigate the hardship being faced by Edo State workers, after all, Mr President had already appealed to State Governments to pay the 30K additional wage award to its workers. That would automatically make Edo and Lagos States pay 70K as thier minimum wage.

Until and unless the tripartite committee recommends and the FG, States and private sector agree on a specific Amount (which I strongly believe will be a little above 100K), I'm sorry, this is just a temporary addition to Salaries.

Very educative thread.
For me, I think the B737 is still the greatest ever built yet. Even in the Nigerian airspace, it still remains the highest in operations, majority of the airlines have it in their fleet, very reliable aircraft, though most of them are over 22 years old.
Infact, the NAF 001, the number one official Presidential plane in Nigeria is a B737 BBJ, bought by then President Obasanjo during his 1st tenure as President.
One of its major negatives is that it isn't a Long range aircraft
