What is a phobia?

A phobia is the unrelenting fear of a situation, activity, or thing that causes one to want to avoid it. Phobias are largely underreported, probably

because many phobia sufferers find ways to avoid the situations to which they are phobic to.

Fears of midgets, haunted houses, helmets, pickles, and feet are just a few of the less common phobias and may be considered strange by some

but can be just as debilitating as those phobias that are more common. Agoraphobia often coexists with panic disorder. Very few people literally go

berserk in a phobic situation, but their reactions prevent them from accomplishing the things that they could normally accomplish.

Types of phobia

Agraphobia - Fear of sexual abuse.

Health / Re: How Do You Cure Depression? by therapist: 6:39pm On Apr 30, 2009
Depression is the result of imbalance in the overall energy field of the individual. Because this imbalance is not perceptible except by the sufferer, many do not appreciate the wieght. Drugs will help lift you up because it creates an euphoria of a balance, the sufferer momentorily feels better. But after the effect is gone, the depression comes back simply because the energy is yet to be properly balanced.

Imbalance in energy field can be caused by past life pressures, anger, childhood experiences, disaapointments, loss of loved ones which lead to disruption in the energy fields. Depression is one of the consequencies or results. Drugs attach what has manifested as results but not the causes.

My advise is that you seek out an Energy Therapist who will help balance your energy field and the depression will go. I gurrantee you that.

A direct Therapy-
If you like, a simple exercise to do is to tap (eitherside of) of your collarbone with your fingers (2 or 3 of them together) several times while saying "I forgive myself, even though I have this depression". Take three deep breaths in and out while doing the tapping.

Try this and post your reaction. or call me on 08027759667 or 08037227334. I will guide you more if you join our GIET Club where we advise members on how to manage psychological and physical problems with simple energy therapy methods.

Health / Re: Post Natal Depression - Any Urgent Help? by therapist: 3:57pm On Apr 25, 2009
Something as simple as imbalance in your wife's energy system could be responsible for her actions and behaviours. Such imbalance could result from energetic blocks due to, may be, fear from pregnancy complications, having to attend to two kids instead of one, how to manage the kid along with her husband, coping with pressure from extended family members, etc. Such imbalances can not be traced by any laboratory tests because these instruments do not capture energy fields of the type I mean here. Try an Energy Therapist to help in balancing her energy field. This can also be done through distance healing.

Please note that this is not religious healing but simply a method of manipulating the energy centres on the body to achieve balance and overcome such chalenges as depression, fear, guilt, anger, etc. You may go to Total Drugless Healing in the Health segment of this forum to read more.

Hope this helps.
Health / Re: Any Cure For Stammering? by therapist: 2:29pm On Apr 25, 2009
Yes there is cure for stammerers.
It is basically an emotional problem. The stammerer either builds-up emtion before the speech or anticipates responce / reaction to the speech and builds-up emotional defence. The consequence is the force with ehich he or she wants to use in expressing himself or herself. This force wants ti push out many words at the same time which leads to stammering. Dont ask from where this theory comes. However, if you deal with the emotional aspect and get the person under control, he or she will talk without stammering.

1. Avoid steeped up emotions when talikng. I can teach you how to disolve negative emotions to free yourself of the pressure it presents at such times.
2. Be in control. Dont anticipate response or reaction even before you start talking. (Dont be a mind reader)
3. Take it easy at all times.

Best wishes

Hi i found this piece very interesting and decided to share it with you

By John Blosse

Hi Gary,

I have stammered for as long as I can remember. Although I did a fantastic speech course which really helped me but after a while I realised there were still issues from the past that I hadn't cleaned up. EFT has helped me deal with a lot of these issues.

Advice such as 'talking slower' doesn't really help when you're full of the fear of stammering. The way to get over a stammer is to become more assertive about your speech even when you do stammer. Realise that it's not the end of the world. The following are a few of the affirmations that helped me:

Even though I have this stammer and it holds me back I can choose to give it a hug.

Even though I have always seen my stammer as a monster it's really there for a reason and even if I don't know the reason why I'll give my monster a hug anyway.

Even though I have this stammer and am embarrassed by it because I don't speak as well as other people I choose to realise I can do some other things better than other people, nobody's perfect.

Since becoming an EFT therapist I have found that tapping on acknowledging my stammer and giving the stammering monster a hug has really helped me.

I feel that my stammer has been a blessing in some ways because it has allowed me to empathize better with other people. I feel my speech has benefitted so much from EFT when using the method on memories and negative beliefs.

GC COMMENT: I'm glad EFT was used on memories in this case. If those memories were SPECIFIC EVENTS the chances increase for a deeper, more lasting benefit.

It has given me a lot more confidence and has definitely made me a better therapist.

All the best,

John]]]

case study1

Take for example somebody who wants to quit smoking. Anybody familiar with muscle testing would be able to tell you this person should test positive when saying they want to stop. However most people don't. They still have some deeper part of them that wants to carry on smoking. Finding these different aspects and treating them with the help of the set-up phrase (see EFT Techniques), can correct this problem. The outcome of this is its possible to help someone to stop when their will power is not strong enough. In fact it even demonstrates that will power is not best used to overcome addictions.

When psychological reversal is in place the person will 'self sabotage' any attempts to change the problem, eg someone over weight will find a reason to eat more than needed when trying a diet. Will power if used for long durations is another form of stress on the body. It is great to use in emergency situations, but if used to overcome a craving it is likely that craving will resurface for something else. This is commonly seen when someone quits smoking and starts eating more instead.

What can i use EFT on?

EFT can help many different issues. The motto is ‘try it on anything’, however EFT does have much better success rates with some conditions than others. Some of these include fears and phobias, headaches, addictions, trauma, abuse (sexual, physical or mental), allergies, self-confidence/image, dyslexia and anger/stress. Others that people have reported respond well to EFT are weight loss, arthritis, phantom pain, anxiety disorders and even warts.

Using the basic EFT guidelines in this site you may like to try and treat some of these, or any other conditions you can think of. More ideas are given in the case files and plenty more still on other web sites found on the links page under contacts.

Also see: Trauma & Abuse, Stress & Anxiety, Fears & Phobias, Depression, Addictive Cravings, Children's Issues and hundreds of physical symptoms including headaches, body pains and breathing difficulties.

Disclaimer: Please note that while EFT can help a multitude of problems, it is not to be used as replacement to medical treatment, but can usually be used in conjunction.
Nairaland / General / Re: Total Drugless Healing by therapist: 4:46pm On Apr 18, 2009
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was developed by Gary Craig around the early 90’s, although continues to be refined by many people to this day. It is one of the many forms of METs (Meridian Energy Techniques) now available, and perhaps one of the easiest to learn.

EFT originated from TFT (Thought Field Therapy), which was discovered by acupuncturist and psychologist Dr Roger Callahan. While Callahan developed the basic concept and structure, Craig had the vision to refine it and make it accessible to everyone. He also, along with many other therapists working in this field, began to realise the broader possibilities for EFT.

As a therapeutic technique there is little else to equal its simplicity and effectiveness. Many experienced therapists now report typical success rates of 80-95% for many conditions. The immediate history of EFT is short; its future looks to be much longer.

Energy healing with hands debuts in Nigeria
By Chukwuma Muanya

A drugless, natural healing therapy that manipulates the energy system of the body to achieve improved health and energy balance has debuted in the country.

An energy therapist and Director of GoldenRays Integrated Energy Therapy (GIET) Centre, Surulere, Lagos, Dr. Iwowarri Berian James, at a demonstration of the technique said (GIET) is a drugless health improvement method that offers knowledge and skills which enables individuals, children of all ages, families, groups, companies and organisations to fix basic health related distractions.

James said GIET combines various energy psychology methods with key energy medicine techniques like energy medicine and quantum touch, to deliver a holistically improved health.

James, who is also the Logistics Manager of the Nigerian Brewery in Lagos, is currently pioneering the formal advent of energy therapy.

James is a member of the world body for energy therapists, the Association for Comprehensive Energy Therapy (ACEP) in the United States of America (USA).

James told The Guardian that he stumbled upon energy therapy when he travelled to the USA some time ago, and discovered that it had been in use for decades both in Europe, Asia, and in the USA.

He explained: "All created things are formed out of energy. And to sustain them, energy flows into them through seven channels called the Chakras and flows through pathways called the Meridians and flows out after use, through energy points called Acupoints.

"Imbalance occurs when there is energy inflow without a corresponding out flow or inflow is impaired to sustain the body. These blockages and imbalances in the energy field can manifest as mental, physical, emotional, and/or spiritual disease."

James said Energy Therapy is the process of working through the meridians of the individual to relieve the body of tendencies capable of causing physical, emotional, mental or spiritual imbalances that ultimately affect the overall wellbeing of the affected person.

"It is simply through the intelligent manipulation of the energy field of the individual to bring about energetic balance which keeps the body immune level rich and protective, boosts the energy level of the individual which helps accelerate healing and wellness. It has no side effect, it is not herbal based, it is simple, and is easy to learn," he said.

James said GIET is similar to acupuncture but the major difference is that needles are not used. "Hands rather than needles are used to trace the energy points," he said.

James said the energy points become blocked when something happens and one becomes agitated, altering the evacuation of one's energy. He said: "This leads to dis-organised flow which later results in blockage. When you are angry or aggrieved, you are releasing certain negative energies, which the body does not require.

"Since these energies are no longer useful to the body, they ought to find a way to exit the body. If you continue to retain your anger, it will gradually end up blocking the energy pathways, thereby preventing fresh ones from coming in."

James said energy therapy has testimonies of freedom from a host of ailments from acne and allergies to anger and irrational temper and appendicitis amongst others. He said the therapist manipulates the energy system of the individual by either unblocking, flushing, clearing the energy pathways through the use of high resonance energy through the therapist's hands brought close to or directly to the body of the person being treated.

"During energy work, a client may have an emotional release that might be accompanied by specific memories, or may be experienced as pure emotion, which arises," James said.

Energy therapy frees the mind and body — IWOWARI JAMES
Written by Josephine Igbinovia
Tuesday, 21 October 2008

IS healing possible without use of drugs? Dr. Iwowarri Berian James, Logistics Manager at the Nigerian Brewery in Lagos, thinks so. He is currently pioneering the formal advent of energy therapy, a drugless healing method. As the first and only Nigerian to become a member of the world body for energy therapists, the Association for Comprehen-sive Energy Therapy (ACEP) in the USA, in this interview with Josephine Igbinovia, he unveils the secrets behind energy therapy and how efficient the healing method is. Excerpts:

You’re the first Nigerian to join ACEP. How did you get to know about Energy Therapy?

I stumbled upon it when I traveled to the US some time ago, and discovered that it had been in use for decades both in Europe, Asia, and in the US. So when I learnt about it’s benefits and how affordable it is, I decided to study it.

What’s energy therapy all about?
