masonkz: My point exactly! From a police officer you'd expect him to come up with concrete facts e.g. taking residual samples of the rubble and testing for presence of foreign and/or explosive material, or evidence from carrying out proper forensic investigation regarding activities and movement around the building in the days leading to its collapse. When a police officer relies on a survivors word of mouth-with no scientific proof whatsoever- as his evidence....we are in serious trouble o! 1 Like |

rodolpho: sorry to hear that too, that is their usual anthem 'not a bonafide student' nobody is ever a bonafide student -except themselves. but if i may ask did you send your original transcripts to them, are you a member of any professional or student association, does your school require toefl etc.these are some docs that may help buttress your 'bonafidablity'. if can also remember, you were the one that had issue with changing jobs, do you have any idea on whether they contacted your former workplace, cos in most cases a leave of absence letter is good enough to confirm ties in the case of a study permit. As for the deferment just as AY mentioned is usually only for a year -but talk to your school and tell them you have pending issues with the embassy, I ve seen my friends deferment extended 2ce due to visa issues. it is good you can reapply again but i will not want you to rush into it , if you feel it will take some time to thoroughly repackage your application , then its worth it instead of hastily submitting another one and risk suspension, do you work? you will do well to save more money which will significantly boost your proof of funding as well. trust me, there is no need to rush or panic, you will surely be better off if you take time. wish you the best 1 Like |

hamzatafee: Nope, the study permit is different from the work permit. The CDHC only issues you a study permit. When you arrive canada as a student, you have to spend six months before you are eligible for a work permit in other words, you cannot engage in any work (except on campus employment). but afterwards, once you get the work permit, you can work (anywhere) as you study.i hope its clear |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by tonio2: 10:48pm On May 25, 2009 |
hamzatafee: hamzatafee There is definitely NO PATTERN whatsoever in the way CDHC operates and each case is determined separately and independently! For example, what delayed my case was that my school did not respond early when thy wanted to verify my transcript. People that we submitted same day got interviews b4 me, and some got theirs months after mine. many things are involved but why I say keep disturbing them is that I’ve seen cases where they issue the visas the same day after considering some peoples cases but that is not a rule So don’t worry, mine too stayed with them for 5 months and it’s not as if there was any problem with my documents or information, patient and keep praying, they will surely answer you. |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by tonio2: 10:29pm On May 25, 2009 |
teachme: they are only trying to verify that you are a student and actually coming to canada to study. it is good to have toefl but it is not a requirement nor is it mandatory, but i hope your educational history is well documented also with your transcripts included, and you have good reasons for continuing your education in canada detailed on the study permit questionaire |

globalpaul: well you dont need to work for a company previously to earn a place with them in the future. what you need to convince them of is that the company has the capacity to employ you upon your arrival, it may be a post dated letter of employment like ay mentioned or just assurance, also VeRY IMPORTANT is ur purpoted studies directly related to the company? you will need to link it up somehow for it to make sense. but dont go into payslips blv me, you will only be complicating matters |

globalpaul: Of course! if you can get a letter of future employment, that will be better but mind you i hope the company is registered, and preferably has a board of directors cos you have to convince them it is not a phony one-man-show and the letter is on company headed paper. you may wish to throw more light here on the type of company he is into - maybe people with similar background and issues here might have useful info |

rodolpho:rodolpho First of all, kneel down and thank God for your new job, and then ask for forgiveness for even contemplating refusing a good job, in this recession! Nobody should ever forgo any opportunities with the hope of getting a visa, which is not 100% assured and neither a ticket to heaven! Though it is a good thing you want to further your education in Canada, the standard of education is high and there are many good universities. Ok as per your leave I feel your point but the fact is that you do not expect to resume a new job and ask for a letter of leave on your 1st day of work do you? But at the same time trust me, the CHDC will call your office, they called mine and i was lucky the HR lady was a nice woman cos as of the time they called i had not yet informed my office of my intentions. my advice is this, if you have good relations with your former work place- which i had, you can always confide in your HR, MD or whoever and in the event the CHDC calls, they'll cover for you (hint: they will use the number on the letter you gave them) on the other hand, it is perfectly in order to change jobs so long as you have proof (and its not as if they sacked you) then if they call you to verify, you can explain to them, and inform them that you are in the process of obtaining a leave or absence from your new work. In some cases, they may not even call afterall! So, NEVER try to be proactive and give embassy info they don’t ask you, from experience, it usually rebounds to your disadvantage. Wish u d best and don’t forget to update this thread with any new development! 1 Like |

Kennis:Kennis since you have submitted your letter and sent a mail, you can always send another mail, and if it will not be a burden to you, at least try visiting the embassy once a week(they wont kill you) and keep filling the forms enquiring about your status, as i mentioned earlier you might hear familiar responses such as 'we are still working on it' but its still better than to sit back and do nothing, also you dont have to pay your tuition! paying is entirely at your own risk and doesnt guarantee a visa, dnt let anyone decieve you! the CDHC are never in a hurry, just be patient take things easy, they will surely respond at some point, have you tried to defer your admission? cos even if you get a reply next week, june is just a week away, there will be no time to complete medicals book a ticket etc, so i advice you not to live your live waiting on the embassy alone keep going about your daily business normally and everything will surely fall in place, all the best |

chinicole: That depends on the schools admission criteria (which changes sometimes). ususally, most schools in Canada demand a 2:1 equivalent but others will take 2:2. Also some schools have what they call qualifying masters where you take some courses for a certain period(1 year) b4 you start the actual masters, but for scholarships and into highly competitive schools, a 2:1 is the minimum requirement. What course do you intend studying and which schoolsare you considering? Fidelo:The banks are listed on the CDHC website they change periodically so you have to check it to get the most current ones but i know many people still use zenith. |

Kennis: Well, iven't seen any thing like that b4, but u know the CHDC alone know the way they manufacture their letters. The only thing i know about bank statements is that they actually contact the banks to verify the authenticity of the statement. In some cases the bank even calls you to confirm if it was you that sent that statement. Confirm with your sponsor are you sure he wasn’t called by the bank and maybe claimed ignorance (since he wasn’t the one applying himself). Another thing is that a written explanation should be a cover letter written by the bank (not the applicant) also attaching a new statement from the bank possibly covering the same period the old one was sent stamped and dated. But you really need to talk this out with the sponsor and reconfirm nothing was actually done to his account for that period The Medical test lasts only a few hours but the results are usually sent to france for verification (ask me why) so it takes abut 2wks to a month (dont 4get to add the CHDC factor) for the embassy to receive it. But he cant go ahead to do it until he’s told to do so by the embassy. did he get any such letter? Three weeks is rather a short time to sort all these out, he should try to defer the admission if possible, am saying it for the umpteenth time on this thread , ALWAYS APPLY EARLIER THAN 3 MONTHS FOR STUDENT VISA!. But take things easy, it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be given a visa, just try to send them the confirmed docs. good luck! 1 Like |

Delta007: Yeah Delta is spot on. MAny of you guys dont even read thru previous posts and expect us to keep repeating what we've been repeating. haba! if anyone is really serious with travelling or studying, i expect you to start reading from post 1, you will get a clearer picture from reading multiple posts not just one reply! Besides ALL the requirements for any class of visa are clearly stated on the CDHC website so you dont expect anyone to start itemizing requirements if you can read then you should be fine. You can only expect this forum to share experience not apply for a visa for you, neither delta nor myself is the issuing officer (even though we wish we were) hamzatafee as i said earlier dont panic, send a mail and try to go there at least once a week, fill the usual form and wait for a reply you will likely hear the same thing (i heard it for more than 5 times) but if u've deferred your admission till fall then you'll be fine . just make sure you get the letter of deferal and send it to them (you dont have to wait till they ask). In my case i even sent the deferal letter as an attchment. |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by tonio2: 3:54am On May 11, 2009 |
hamzatafee: Yeah of course go to the embassy ASAP (btw 8-12 noon) and request for an inquiry form at the gate, make sure you clearly state that your school has already resumed and insist that you get a reply on your visa status. You shouldnt have any problem if your documents are genuine and you have proof of enough funds for tiution and living expenses, but the final visa decision resides with the embassy. good luck! |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by tonio2: 10:39pm On May 10, 2009 |
Even though it is stated three months, it takes longer usually btw 4 -5 months to to process a student visa, if you have been following this thread you would have known this and submitted way earlier, your best bet will be to first call the embassy, you can look thrugh earlier posts where the no was listed , though at peak periods of the year i doubt you will get an answer from the visa section, your next bet is to go to the embassy in VI and fill an enquiry form but be sure to be armed with your DHLor UPS waybill no so that they can track your appl package. Well dont panic, youll hear from them soon inviting you for a medical or interview, as for the school i advice you to defer the semester to fall or winter term, always start at the beginning not during the middle of the semester, classes here can not be easily crashed like those in 9ja, trust me, a few lectures missed and you are so lost! Well, in any case,if the embassy approves your visa you will still have to get a new letter of admission with a new start date , so you'd rather start the process of getting a deferment from your school so that you can get the new letter and present it as soon as the embassy requests. what is the name of your school and for which course were you offered admission? I hope this answers your question, wishing u the best! |

Delta007: @hotstepper, delta, What of the siblings and members of family form that was filled on the visa application, what is its significance? Im assuming that in the case where u have ypur PR, it should be easier for them to come over or is it just for security reasons? |

Shame on INEC shame on PDP shame on Yaradua, sometimes i feel like weeping for this country does it mean that INEC and the Nigerian Police with all their assumed preparation and noise cannot hold a credible election in 64 wards and 200,000 people. This was the same INEC that said they are more than capable of holding elections in 36 states. I thot that within hours the results would have been announced beyond doubt and complaints by any party, Alas how wrong i was, the REC is sick, the remaining elections will be held indefinitely, these pple think they are fooling NIgerians but it only shows how foolish they actually are, God help Nigeria, as 4 me, i've given up!!!!!!! |

Well, I've looked at former and present, the truth is that people will generally resist change from what they've been used to whether better or not. The truth is that the existing design is simple and easy to use, the new one looks more complex at a first glance but really it is not as bad as people are making it too look here but the logo is a no no. Just like google, they've kept the design virtually the same and used the simplicity to their advantage, but mind you they also constantly added more features and made it more functional. My advise is that whilst improvements can and SHOULD be made to the design it should have the basic framework of the existing one. A website or page must be improved upon constantly to meet the varying needs of a dynamic audience im not necessarily saying you change to the new one but really some improvement here and there wont hurt. |
