Lastly, the police tend to be very naive on this issue. They think the thief that will attack all these celebrities are just some people living in Sokoto who will begin to drive to Lagos and attack celebrities on seeing it on instagram that the said celebrity has acquired a new car. That's a big lie! Any thief or kidknaper that will attack celebrities or anyone for that matter, is living close to their victims. He already knows you have it wether you put it on instagram or not. He is someone who knows you've just upgraded.

My advice to the Police is that, instead of complaining, maybe they themselves should up their game. Our society has changed for the positive in status and wealth. There is no reason te Nigerian police and their stations should be this archaic! They should realize that ten years ago, we did not have as much private jets in the country. But now and as at the last count, there are over 200 private jets at the MM Int'l airport in Lagos. Te overnment has to realize that our society has become wealthier and as a result, they should up the budget they give to security. Our police and other security out fits should have modern gadgets and be well paid and motivated. Telling people not to post pictures of their wealth on instagram, is encouraging backwardness, and going backward is a no no.

It is simple logic that where there is more money, theives will be attracted there. Thieves are not going to get finished in the world. So it is our duty to up our game as the frequency and sophistication of theft rises. The padlock you use to lock your wardrobe when you had only one slippers and and shirt in it, is not the same one you would use to lock that same wardrobe if had a laptop in it and it still wouldn't be the same you will use when you have a billion naira in it.

@Toni. O, I completely agree with you on taking his time in recrafting a better visa application. He should contact his school on the deferal issue. If the school agree to defer for a year, he should take it and he can plan ahead now. But assuming the school will not defer for him, then I suggest he should reapply now. The reason is that if he reapply for admission, then he will be in the admission pool and may likely get his admission letter next year April depending on how fast his university is. Thereafter, he will also be in the Visa pool and you know that visa applications is always much between May and August. So it is still the same thing. Or what do you think?

Though his best bet is this deferal so that he can apply as early as next year January.

well i believe the next line of action should be based on the schools response to the deferment, if he gets a deferral for winter(jan), then it will still be in order but if the school doesn't accept, then he can always re apply again as long as he is confident that he has more and cogent documentation as to regards his academic history and economic ties

I need help and fast too. i just got a response from the almighty Canadian embassy. My student permit application was rejected. the reason given was that 'they are not convinced i am a bonafide student and they are not convinced i will return back to nigeria upon completion of my studies. now in my application i submitted a letter from my employer showing i have been given a study leave to show i will return. i also showed proof of admission by Mcgill university to the ll.m programme.

my questions are- what more could i have done to show i will return to nigeria and that i am a bonafide student? can i reapply for the student permit now or is it better to appeal the decision?. taken into consideration the fact that i deferred my admission last year, can i defer my programme again for another year. what more could i have done to impove my chances of getting a student permit?

secondly, concerning my case, the school will resume on 7th sept so am planning to send my application next week monday. i have never worked for my uncle in the time past. i just graduated december 2008 and if i have to tell them i av,dont u think they will wanna see my payslip and other stuff.
my uncle owns a business not really a big company, but registered and he sells well. he stated that am gonna work with me after my return in  the letter he gave to me. i was just asking if i could add something like a landed property from my dad and affidavit just to show that i have family responsibilities here but my dad is not usually sponsoring cos of his low income at present.

Global Paul, The essence of Landed property is to show how credible your sponsor is. So if you intend to submit any C of O, it should be that of your Uncle that is your sponsor. If your Dad wants to sponsor you too, then you can include your Dad's C of O, otherwise ther is no need for that.

Concerning your coming back to work for your Uncle, I think the key point is packaging, Let your Uncle write a letter of Confirmation of Employment on a letter head describing your previous work with him, how you have been an assest and indicating that your will come back to work for him. Pls, Add prayers to this.

By the way, I hope you know that you dont have much time that is if you are applying for september entry, having in mind the 3months required to submit your visa application to CDHC. So get going fast. I sincerely wish you the best.

i applied  for my student permit to study  in Canada on 19th April 2009. in support of my application among other documents was a letter from my office confirming that i have been given a study leave and i can come back to the job upon completing of my programme. however around March  i commenced moves aimed at getting a new job,  hoping in the event that i fail to get the visa i can change my job. unfortunately i am yet to get a feedback on my visa application but i have been offered employment in the new job. i am directed to resume on 26th May 2009 even though i can shift my resumption date for at most a week. the pay is almost thrice my current salary.

however i really want to go to Canada for my postgraduate study and i feel the chances of my getting a visa will be seriously affected if i leave my present job as the embassy people may subsequently try to confirm the authencity of my study leave letter and of cos my employer will tell them i am no longer in their employment.

this new job is also offers great financial improvement and if i refuse the job and i am subsequently denied a visa, i will feel seriously gutted. this is especially as i don't feel motivated and appreciated enough in my present job.

gentlemen, what do i do? accept the new job offer and jeopardise my visa application  or deny the offer and hope my visa application will be successful.

I hope u remember my issue with the CDHC. 

They sent a letter for an explanation of my sponsor's statement authenticity

I sent an updated statement with letters from my sponsor and a personal letter as requested.

The school resumes on June 8 and they are yet to respond,  I am even yet to do the medicals.

when i went to the CDHC to inquire on the status, they said they will get back to me soon and I can send them an e-mail.

I sent an e-mail, but CDHC is always some slow ass, they are still yet to reply and there is limited time b4 skool resumption.

I met an applicant at the CDHC who said it may be difficult getting a study permit without showing commitment by paying the tuition fee

what more do y'all think i can do on my own end as of now.

Do i keep going back to disturb them about the status of my application until skool resumption?

Or just chill and see what happens next before taking a further step?

the embassy replied a study permit application with a letter that the sponsor's account was altered and that a written explanation should be provided within 30 days.

It's a surprise b'coz the sponsor's account was never altered, so an updated statement was sent back with the passport via return courier with written explanation that the document is original.

Has anybody ever recieved a letter like this?

the school resumes in 3 weeks and still there is no response yet.

what are the chances of getting a positive response?

how long does it take to get the medicals done and would it still be possible to do the medicals if there is only 3 weeks left?

Read the thread; your answer is probably on one of the pages.
Like you were advised earlier, make the contact and get your admission deferred. If you do not hear from the embassy in a week or two, try again but this time, go with a new letter from your school with a new resumption date to update your file. Bottomline, you need to keep going at them.

They were asked to send additional documents either because their application was incomplete or the additional document(s) is/are needed to prove a claim they made in their application. They need to send in the documents within the 120days or formally ask for an extension if they cannot mee the deadline otherwise, a decision may be made based on the "ïnsufficient" info they provided.
The only relations that will be PR alongside the applicant, are those that were listed in the main application as accompanying the main applicant; i.e. the Spouse of the main applicant and dependent children (if any). Any other relation(s) listed in the application is simply for "background check" purposes. I hope this answers your question.
