I once experienced such on my c240 too. Only option for you is to replace the reservoir tank. If you glue it many times, it will give you headache. So please change it to a new one and have rest of mind

Don't do self medication.

Politics / Re: Lack Of Electricity How I spend 160,000 naira a Month on fuel? by Twob: 9:10pm On Oct 16, 2023
TheOldGods:
Nobody is talking about the big Elephant in the room, which is lack of electricity. This week I've spent 58,000 naira on fuel for my generator for work, that is full tank for alot of cars every week, and the car owners are complaining, what about us that need Electricity to work.

I barely get 6 hours of electricity, I tried buying solar, but the conditions are too much, turn off this, turn this on, don't use this bulb. Mehn, plus I can't turn on AC while working.

Since my work is from home I decided to buy a laptop worth 1million here on Nairaland (thanks to Nairaland) just to ease my work, atleat I get 4 hours of break in severe heated room with my laptop.

How else can someone survive in this country with this low electricity, is there any state that is better? Or is it a must I have to travel to another African country just to get simple electricity to work. My generator just went off and my fuel gone, that why I came here to rant. I'm going to buy feul at 615 naira per litre cry
Solar is still the best for u. U roughly spent 160k/month on fuel which is equal N1.9m+ /year.

I have been using solar for the past 3years, I cannot even remember that I have generator. When using solar, with power management and more power banks, it will serve u for almost 24hrs every day.

I had to go Online 2 mouth ago with the believe that I should be able to print my slip (the one carrying the NIN number because the one they gave me when I registered didn’t have NIN number on it) through their website. Luckily for me, I got information on how to print my national id card itself in to ways: one need that you Download the NIN app on google play and generate your unique log in information which I did. I paid roughly N1200 through remita and got the id card sent to me in pdf format. You can print it on plastic card also. Me save mine on phone and printed it later

Car Talk / Re: The Differences Between 4, 6, 8, 12… Cylinders by Twob: 8:32am On Sep 09, 2023
casualobserver:

A v6 is an inherently unbalanced engine few manufacturers get it right. You have 2 banks of 3 cylinders that don’t move up and down together in balance, hence the need for counterweights which introduces other problems. One of the reasons Mercedes V6 are problematic and they stopped making them…their current 6 cylinder engines are straight six engines also known as inline 6. . Toyota make some of the best V6s. The V6 was one of the reason that led to the problems of Citroen. They went bust and the French government forced Peugeot to buy them to save jobs. BMW have never made a V6 and the only time Mercedes ventured into the V6 world it damaged their reputation with unreliable engines. The Mercedes with a V6 is one of the cars you are advised to stay away from used.

So, to you and probably all Toyota fans, all Toyota engines and their respective vehicles are better than all Mercedes engines and their various vehicles. I believe u don't know much about engines the way u talk. U are just a Toyota fan with hatred for other brands, especially benz.

Me I drive bend with V6, for the past 4 years, no issue with anything concerning the engines. I carried out repair by myself and help others to do there's too. Besides, benz can never be compared to Toyota. Benz have complex design and also almost all parts are being monitored and controlled with special micro computers, and reasons why it is difficult for the local mechanic with no theoretical engineering knowledge to carry out repairs on it.

As for Toyota, a friend of mine has muscle. I do repair it for him alot. He has changed the gear box, ABS module and pump, top cylinder gasket, catalyst and many more major parts in that vehicle. The vehicle na 4 cylinder ooo but he had spent more money on it. So don't be deceived my brother. All vehicles are OK because every designed parts on them was simulated before mass production. But some brands are more premium and ride better in terms of feeling when you drive them.

Give a vehicle what it needs according to the manufacturer, get a good mechanic with theoretical background of engineering knowledge to handle it and don't compromise any wiring (that's where all problems usually start). Identify problems, solve it to restore the vehicle to original setting and not bypass problems as local mechanics do and tell you it has solve. That thing u bypass is accumulated and another problem will come because of it.

Thanks

Car Talk / Re: Electrical Vs Mechanical Faults: Which Is Worse? by Twob: 4:16pm On Aug 02, 2023
apache4:
Electrical is worse , i drive 2012 E350 Mercedes, never had any mechanical fault before, just normal servicing as at when due, but my rewire guy isn't good at all, if you have a better rewire for me , please let me know, I would really appreciate.

Me, I drive C class. I do repair everything on my own, even my peoples and other vehicles own by non relatives. Of course I am a mechanical engineer. I worked two years in automotive industry. Currently working as an electromechanical, this makes it easy for me to be able to repair, service and troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical faults.

Most of the rewires with no theoretical background of sensors, solenoid valves and other electromechanical components would only be using a trial and error approach. I am not even sure they have automobile scanner machine let alone knowing the interpretation of any faults codes from the machine. All these knowledge I do use to troubleshoot vehicles without bypassing any wires, and then successfully restore the vehicles to the way they should be. As I tell you, my vehicle has no fault code or light display on the instrument cluster

dsgrart:
My rewire said he’ll have to scan my car so as to detect the whole issues, is that true? Somebody help!!!

Scanning vehicle with appropriate scanner is to pull out Diagnostic troubling codes ((DTCs). These codes will give the direction to automotive technicians as to where the problem(s) reside. The DTCs may be specific to a particular sensor or electromechanical component which must be identified, tested for functionality (electrical & mechanical service manual from the manufacturer) or be related to two more components which can also be accurately troubleshooted using electrical and mechanical drawings from the manufacturer.

Also, life data from the scanner tool must be check for all available system components and compare with the standard values in the manufacturer's specifications to know which sensors or electromechanical parts that is bad or not before changing any expensive parts. And lastly, the person using scanner must be able to interpret if not all, atleast the relevant data information.

Car Talk / Re: What Alternative Do Foreign Countries Vulcanizer Uses Instead Of Apku & Eba? by Twob: 5:58am On Apr 05, 2023
fineboynl:
I was wondering if apku and eba is the solution to tubeless tyres. What are the recommendations from the manufacturer? What provision was provided? What are foreign vulcanizers using instead of apku and eba they are using down here.

They use a rubber-like-silicon-grease which is designed for that purpose of perfect sealing, this can hardly be seen among Nigerians local vulcanizers.

First, The rim must first be clean and free from corrosion, rust or dirts. If corroded at where the tyre would sit, there would be leaks, so, that's why that place and the tyre neck sitting on that circular track is coated with a rubber like silicone grease by professional vulcanizer to eliminate any irregularities around there and to ensure perfect sealing.

In my own case, each time I am to change the tyre(s) of my vehicle, I used to coat the tyre neck with grease in most cases, or better still oil (for I won't allow vulcanizer to use Akpu or Eba for that purpose). I would stay with the vulcanizer to ensure the rim is cleaned, washed and freed from corrosion or rust at the sealing neck, I will then ask him to apply grease or oil to the tyre and rim. Once that is done and tyre inflated to the manufacturer's specification pressure, you will then see the tyre hardly go down because there would be proper sealing between the tyre neck and the rim. As, I speak with u, I can't remember when last I visited vulcanizer to have my tyres gauged except last year June or July when I had a tyre damaged.

The motor is very strong, strong and reliable M112 engine (V6, 12plugs).

I am totally in support not only of this strike, but also to eliminate completely what they call AGBERO all over Nigeria.

A graduate from any institution in Nigeria who be emphatically told by government that they cannot employ all, they should go entrepreneurial/be self-employed irrespective of what he or she studied and time spent. Majority of these graduate are found in the transportation industry, facing the reality to fend for themselves and families.

AGBEROs are not excluded from being self-employed or entrepreneurial. Government should enforce that policy on them too and bring to justice whoever among them refused to do so.

It is cool and good to mourn with them that mourn,
But what is Most Important is to consider the needful which is preparation for Eternity. Death could show up at anymoment. It has no respect for your pocket or personality.

Death is not really a big deal. What is the big deal, is if you Depart this World without JESUS Christ.
It does not Matter who you are, what you have or your title. If you Depart without a Genuie relationship with JESUS Christ, you have wasted your life!
Man! Stop misleading people with with all these tantrums. Those that have departed (Abraham, Moses, good people etc.) from this world before Jesus was born are also going to hell fire? U Don't know anything. What will save any individual from hell fire is follow commandments and do the "WILLs" of God. Proofs from Jesus:

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. John 6vs38

“Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Mat 7vs21-23.

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man enquired. Jesus replied, “`Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honour your father and mother,’ [Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20] and `love your neighbour as yourself.’“ [Lev. 19:18] “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Mat. 19vs16-21

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven, but whoever practises and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5vs17-20

“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no saviour. Is. 43vs10-11

So, Jesus don't know you, neither was he sent to you and mankind, but to his "people", so, only God is the savior. Proof:

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, [Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means the LORD saves.] because he will save his people from their sins.”Mat. 1vs21

A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” Mat.15vs22-24.

He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil [Greek: unclean] spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. Mat.10vs1-6

So, stop misleading people hence forth.
May peace be unto us all.

Buharifan:
Car experts,

Please how true is this assertion?

Catalytic converter is fixed in the exhaust line to convert harmful and hazardous gasses (nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide etc. into Nitrogen gas, carbon dioxide, water ...). So, before and after the Catalytic converter are two Lambder (O2 sensors) which monitor the effectiveness of the Catalytic converter, then send the reports in the form of voltage or current as reading for the engine control module (ecm), this is then used by the ecm to determine how fuel it will allow into the combustion chamber or cylinder.

OBD2 scanners do no lie. One thing u should know is that, when u first scan any vehicle for fault(s), the current and associated fault codes would be shown unti u. That's why u need clear them, drive the vehicle around (in expectation of any code) and re-scan. The current code that is usually the code that triggered malfunction in other areas that showed codes will come up again. So, with that, u can start with life data to further troubleshoot

Education / Re: What Is The Hardest Course In University? by Twob: 1:08pm On Feb 14, 2022
sreamsense:
Hardest course in University can be proved from secondary school down to university. Right from secondary school, science class is considered harder than other like art, social science and commercial class. Science class from secondary school is believed to be convergence of brilliant minds more than any other class. In science class, most brilliant minds are either aspiring to study medicine or engineering (..in majority than any other). Further maths remains difficult subject on secondary school among science students.

Many science students run away from it by sticking to economics because it is mostly considered difficult subject than other. Even among many science students who prefer to study medicine in secondary school, they do so by running away from further maths. Biology is easy to pass in jamb compared to maths at jamb level. When you get to university, further maths majority of brilliant minds in secondary school run away from becomes elementary or introduction to engineering maths in University.

As from 200level, advance engineering maths and it's related application remains toughest and hardest course. Therefore, engineering remains toughest course of study. Medicine is not as hard as engineering, it is only given prestige because it deals with human being while engineering deals with engine or non living thing.
