Investment / Re: Charcoal Export Contract To Turkey (funding/partnership Required) by Ugoh11: 10:35pm On Mar 09, 2019
My brother,
First of all, I don’t know if you are new to charcoal export or if you have been doing it a long time, I doubt the later. Getting charcoal contracts like this is as easy as ABC .. what’s hard though isbsourcung the products that meet the requirements, I started exporting charcoal since 2013 and have had both good and very bad experiences.
My advice for you and anyone that wants to join you is to
1. ensure your contract is backed by a letter of credit (LOC) so that your revenue is guaranteed
2. I am not sure at $190/ton you will make a profit except if you burn your charcoal yourself and if you burn the charcoal yourself, you can’t meet that demand on your own
3. Even as at 2013 I never accepted a contract below $200/ ton so shine your eyes
4. To make a profit you need at least $250/ton
5. This is mostly for people who do not know anything and want to join you, I will help them break down cost for a container
Raw charcoal cost for a container - N800k-1m
Transport to pick container from port to load charcoal at site and return to port - 300-400k
Clearing and forwarding - 250-300k
Total cost : 1.35m - 1.7m per container
@$190/ton for 20 ton container revenue = $1800
Which is 1.368m &360/container
Either on the lower end or higher end .. this business don’t make sense and it’s not hedged from risk, especially buyers defaulting on payments
SHINE YOUR EYES PEOPLE . Thank me later

Good day All, please is it a good idea to obtain foreign loan at 2% annual interest to invest in Tbills since interest rate is usually 10%-13%? I need candid advise so I can weigh the pros and cons.

Something you can do is buy dollar futures (which is buying dollars at a particular rate in the future) to hedge against fx risk..
so if you wanted to invest 1000000 naira in the 364 Tbills at say 14%. You will buy dollar futures for the equivalent of what you expect from your investment which is your principal * 1.14 sobthat when it matures you pay for the dollar at the futures rate hence shielding you from the fx risk..
what I don’t know is if your local bank or local banks sell futures to individuals...

This here bares my concern with the Christian community ... when you make statements such as the “Islamic leader” the matters that concerns the church baffles me ... how does changing the name of an avenue affect worship or the activities of the church ... constituting a high level meeting and brandishing as a memo happily for a change of name .. that is both legal and within the rights of the Governor to do.. just baffles me..
There are a ton of things the church can be fighting right now ... poverty... healthcare ... education .. access to basic amenities ... but No ... making separatist statements ... spewing vile against the very same sect you are commanded to bring into the arms of Christ is what you’d rather concern yourselves with... allowing for Dangote (Muslim) bill gates ( an atheist) to do the charity work that is by right and commission yours to do ... I know for a fact that the Catholic Church works with these two individuals in the North... I don’t see any memo against a fellow Muslim as well...
Stop using the church for cheap political points .. join a party .. pick up a form .. run for election and galvanize votes and leave the church out of it ...

Hello Ugoh11. This is something you'll want to work with the school to get fixed, but it shouldn't have a material impact on the visa interview. It bears repeating: biographical details such as name and date of birth are critically important. Surnames, middle names, and first names should not shift places from passport to passport as though they are playing musical chairs. Titles and honorifics like Dr., Prince, Alhaji, Hon., etc. will not be printed in passports or visas. Dates of birth happen once and only once in one's life. Variations in these details mean the applicant is either careless or a fraudster.

Thanks VO
I got my visa today!!

Dear VO

Please this is very urgent!!!

I have my visa interview tomorrow and I just found out that on my sevis fee receipt there is an error in date of birth (aug) instead of july. However when I go to the sevis website, I input my correct details (correct date of birth) and it shows me that I have paid.

Please does this have an implication on my interview. If yes, what should I do

Hello Ugoh11. So the school got its own post code wrong? Or yours? That's odd and maybe a little worrying. But it should not have a material effect on your application or interview.

I got out in the wrong post code on my ds160.. I just want to know if it's ok to go ahead and pay for my visa.. and subsequently book an interview date or I shud fill a new ds160

Dear VO

Trust your doing fine..
Please I have filled my ds160 form and paid for my sevis fee.. but I just found out that the postal code on my ds160 form is not correct. Should I fill another one before I pay for my visa fee and book my interview or It does not matter.

Apologies inperiouxx ds wasn't meant for you.. it was meant to address omoluabiguy's post.

Remember I am mostly a viewer on this forum..I typed in the wrong section I guess and saw it too late.

Am sure deep down u know I wasn't calling you ignorant..

And No u didn't have to bring out your credentials.. I know them already.. lol.. being following .. just in case you wanted to ask.. how?

Alright .. Hope that settles it..

Damn! Why are you like this this guy? I can't believe you can't even handle a normal conversation like a man without bringing in this typical Nigerian behavior. Seems your body is itching you, right? I don't see where I discredited what you said about the loan. I was only asking for more info on behalf of those genuine students here who wish to follow your steps. However, I'll say it again, for every loan, you need to be verifiable before you're approved.... That's what submission of document as you've said does.

And do you think I'm interested in any loan? angry

FYI, for my first MS in Biochem, I didn't even pay anything to the school for the 2 years. My studies was funded by the grad school in NM + bi-weekly stipend. For my 2nd MS in PA which starts soon, I've been given $28,000 (56% grant - free money and 44% federal govt loan) through FAFSA to cover my $24,000/yr tuition. So, why should I debate with you about loans and funding?

When it comes to loans in U.S or funding education in U.S... guy, you may be working with #1 auditing firm in Nigeria, that's between you and those in Nigeria..... You're still tailing ....... so you need to keep your mouth shut! angry

This is why many old members don't return here. I can't believe I'll come back from work to answer to trash like this. angry

See my funding below, just 44% is loan, yours can't beat this.

Having applied and approved loans (Car loan, credit card, federal subsidized/unsubsidized/PLUS loan) before, I know loans are not like getting donation from a family friend. You have to pass through many verification and have a kind of guarantor (for a credit unworthy borrower) who can be hold liable if you default. That's the reason for my reply to aminlove.

I know a financial institution wants you to think application is hassle free but by the time you finish the preliminary application, further requirement may eventually be a stumbling block, then you start rethinking what's hassle free here. For every loan, a traceable identity and guarantor would be needed at some point.

Hope Ugoh11 will come to answer my questions to enlighten those that are thinking about the offer more.

So this is going to be my last post on this.. and that's because I need to give back.. to this thread..
First of all I need to make you understand that I am no novice.. I work for a top four audit firm and I own my own start up.. so I know the A-Z about loans..

Haven said that.. prodigy finance does not work like finance institution.. per say .. their modus operandi is focused on providing funding for intl students..

Alums of different skols requiring safe returns form most of their investors..

They have controls in place to ensure that you use the money strictly for skol not biz and all.. so disbursements will be made thru your skol..

I know atleast 3 guys who went to Wharton that work with the Nigerian office of top 4 consulting firm all financed by prodigy..

I won't put up my letter and or terms here cos I really have nufin to prove..

But anyway if someone offers you 100k dollar loan to study at the best universities in the world with a payback period of 15-20 years.. why are you bothered as too why there is no collateral.. except u do not plan to pay back.. thus demolishing your credit record and goodwill

For your information almost all mba students are financed by loans..

Oh less I forget.. don't just spew ignorance from your mouth on something you know nufin about.. do your research.. and stop spreading hearsay.. #factsovereverything
This piece is for all those who are zealous to change their careers via an MBA or msc but cannot due to paucity of funds...

I got my loan approved in less than two weeks.. the problem is we are still thinking like Nigerians.. your collateral to them is the school you are attending.. for example 85-90% of Ross business school MBA students get jobs between a range of 60-150k dollars depending on ur core.. so why wud you not pay back the loan.. the singular fact that you are an alumni of a top B skol will make u pay.. plus the loan payment period is abt 15-20 years.

I got 95% scholarship so I applied for 60k to cover living expenses .. travel for other programs and the remaining bit of my studies.. I am expected to pay it back in 18 years..

The key is applying to a top skol and or a skol that they partner with..

I researched them, went to their site and applied.. it was dat easy..
Phew!!! Dats I just enjoy viewing!!!

This is fantastic. I just see that there is no co-signer or collateral required but how would they trace their money? Even in U.S, they have to have something traceable about you for you to get approved for loans e.g address (from current 3 utility bills), ssn, credit score etc. If you don't mind answering this questions, as a beneficiary of this loan, can you tell us if you submitted anything extra (apart from what's on their website) during your application? Can anyone at random from Nigeria with no traceable address apply and get approved just like that? Were they able to cover all your tuition per year? How long it takes to get approved?

So many questions but we have to enlighten those genuine student members on this thread that need source of funding for their education.

Thank you.

I have a question concerning this. What about the issue of bank statement? Does it mean your school will no longer request for a bank statement if you are applying for a loan?
Once you apply, after they are sure you qualify for the loan, they will give you a conditional offer that you can present to your school as proof of finance... remember though that I said conditional... the final approval is dependent on u submitting all the docs req..
haven said this please just go to their website ko

you do not need a collateral. Just go to their site www.prodigyfinance.com and apply, its very straight forward as long as your school is among the schools they partner with and fund. I am a recipient. I just got my loan approved, No hassles.

grin I don't think it's easy that way without a strong collateral in Nigeria.

You will get an outright denial with the way you're going. You better focus on a better program. F-1 visa for one month program? Don't kid yourself. You had better relax and go for a better program. Unpaid internship in NY? Do you know how much rent cost over there? See, Trump is not joking this time around, you will get a straight denial.

GUY!
maybe you are not understanding me.
1. I am going to apply for my F1 visa for my MBA obviously.
2. Because I cannot go into the USA before july 3 and I really would love to join the New york prog starting june.

I am saying is there away out. The guys at the training center have indicated that most nigerians come in with a visiting visa or J1. I am open to suggestions.

IMBTW I know how much the cost of living is in NEWYORK and I have considered the cost as well as the ROI.

What he trying to tell you is that with the f1 visa you cant immediately enter USA and then start working at an internship...... f1 has rules and one of them is that you can only work on campus to a max of 20 hours . Internship is after 2 semester ....so to answer your questions yes f1 is not an option

The June program is not an internship per say.. it's a financial modeling training for 1 month and in the 2 month the attach u to a bank to gain practical experience.. it's totally unpaid.. the attachment I mean...
so it's not structured like it's an internship buh it's like the practical bit of the training

biikeys:

H1b is not an option if you're looking at June. Even if the bank is willing to file for you, you don't have OPT/CPT and won't be able to work until your H1b petition is approved..which could take months. Hope you know premium processing has been put on hold..so easily expect at least 3 months depending on your service center.
Also since you won't be cap exempt, your employer can't just file H1b anytime they want. USCIS starts receiving applications first week of April till the quota is filled up which typically happens the same week.
Hope you know H1b is a lottery system too..so nothing is guaranteed.

Usually you can get work authorization (CPT) to go for internships after two semesters in school...of course depending on your school

I guess what am trying to get at is.. what are my visa options as I have to start in June.. and even if I get my f1 for my uni I can't use it to enter the US in june

Hi guys

I am normally just a viewer on this thread and I really think this is an extremely informative thread.

So I am supposed to resume at tippie biz school in august and I have been sent my I 20 and all.. I am on almost full scholarship and I got grad assistance of 1k a month.

I also have admission to do a finance modeling course in New York with internship with a boutique bank on Wall Street..

My problem is if I apply for my f1 visa, the earliest I can be in the US is July.. so I don't know if I shud apply for f1 visa first and then go and apply for a h1 visa for the internship prog because it starts in June..
guys advise me abeg..
