it doesnt have to be fertilizer o, a lot of things can cause upward price movement.
Some can like the way a company's name sounds and they ask their broker to buy millions of units, u will be surprised,  or let me ask you, when was the last time you saw afroil's result?  (note: this is not a sell or buy recommenation on afroil o, this one na just ILLUSTRATION!)

Hey, oga temmie10, abeg I don "patent" that name-o. grin

FatherOF2:

 Upward PZ now stands at about 20% profit since that result came out when there were some worries that day. Like i said,  I BUY when i see what i want to see. Today is monday. Anything happens on Mondays. Lets see the momentum till about wednesday for PZ. If it continues, then this week will be an excellent exit for PZ.I'm looking between N31-N32.83 for an exit. Some people have just been credited with the bonus of last year and the price needs to get to at least N33 to absorb the shock of the selling that will follow this.Then one can reenter after the storm will be over.This would be around 9months results time.

@ Fo2, I really agree with you. I had set 32 naira as my exit (as at that day when we spoke about PZ), but I was beginning to wonder if I was left alone in this flight but as you don talk am now, I'm relaxed. Anyway, going by all the tutorials aktopgun has been giving us, I still think buyers still have a say in puching th price of PZ. I have not looked at the charts for today, but up till Friday, it was that way.

Mr. Risky:

All I have to say about PZ is that it has taken off. grin Bye bye

Thanks Mr. Risky for your comment, but yeah what do you think is chasing it, where is it running to?

@aktopgun,
Please what do you say? PZ gained agained remarkably today.  Yeah WAPCO dropped, liked I said, I expected it, some turbulence on the way, as it prepares for higher altitude.
Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by upward(m): 1:55pm On Feb 11, 2008
aktopgun:

just to say that i am happy for the fellas with wapco.
it looks set for bumper days ahead in a big way. reasons for saying so:

1. RSI above 50 (now just creeped over 70 actually)
2. candlesticks showed buyers are gaining the upper hand and therefore will drive prices higher.
3. MACD is above its trigger line and more importantly it recently crossed the centre zero line

wish i had it. then i could be wrong and just be blowing smoke  wink.
doubt it.

@aktopgun,
you really can't have everything. At least I'm happy you actually are piloting Oceanic (highjacked), I'm just right behind you on that flight, however I got into WAPCO a while ago, and I talked about it on this thread. The guys that listened must have all boarded by now, I entered at 68naira anyway. The rumor of the bonus seems to be gaining momentum as the days go buy. Let's see how high it can go, though there may be some turbulence on the way.

What do you have to say about PZ?? Thinking of exiting after reasonable gains, but the buyers seem to still be in control (at least on full bid as at Friday)

Your broker needs to confirm this. It depends on the address they are using for you.

If it is your personal address then you should get your warrants at this address.

Some brokers will do all your trades c/o their own office address so in this case warrants will be sent to your broker and passed on to you.

Thank you so very much. You are highle appreciated.

please, how does one receive bonuses and Dividends of stocks you bought from the secondary market I've been receiving bonuses and dividends, but from shares I bought from the primary market. I just started doing secondary market last year and will need some clarifications from the guys that have been doing this for a while now. I have a CSCS account.

pricelist for 080208 - downloaded from nigerianstockechange.com. It's different from the one on nigeriansecurities.
(seems the change column contains "absolute values".)

Thank you so very much for this.

dollarmani:

if you want authoritative source of a result . zenithsecurities and nigeriansecurities is where to look. Those two entities are on a different league of their own. I have noticed that TRW rushes to put out results and therefore have a lot of mistakes. Nigeriansecurities howver because of their focus been on accurate data because they are about tools and the accuracy of their data.

TRW have nothing to loose when they publish inaccurate data. They may be the first. But Nigeriansecurities and zenithsecurities are the most reliable. Infact i have never seen both of them differ on any result

@dollarmani,
you can see from jandbabe's post that your nigeriansecurities and zenithsecurities are not "error-proof" afterall, because there are a number of "wrong" prices on them (going by the fact that nigerianstockexchange is the most authentic).

Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by upward(m): 11:18am On Feb 08, 2008
aktopgun:

@gudchoice, what i mean is that buyers controlled the price from first trade to the last trade. You see, the kind of candlestick cutix showed yesterday is called a MARUBOZU (japanese name), no mind thename jare.

what it means is that the high for the day was the closing price and the low for the day was the opening price ie high price=closing price and low price=opening price for the day's trades. On nigerian securities.com, they use the color green to denote days that the opening price is lower than the closing price and red for the days the closing price is less than the opening price. if the colour of the candlestick hab been red and the opening price equals the highest price for the day while the closing price was the lowest for the day, then that would have meant the sellers were in control of the trades from the first trade to the last trade.

so in summary Marubozu can be of 2 types, called brothers.
brother 1 is green (using nigeriansecurities.com color code) which is good and means the buyers are in control
brother 2 is red which is not so good and means sellers are in control

hope this is helpful for the techies on here. am learning more everyday. mixing it up with all the other little gems of info i've learned on this extermely beneficial forum. probably the best investment decision i made in 2007 u know, to join this forum.

My dear Fatherof2, I really appreciate your effort to make out time to reply all necessary info you feel you have missed out on. It is well, I pray you have more time so we'll keep benefiting from your incisive and somewhat straight to the point posts.

About my PZ and WAPCO flights, well doing well for now, since we are all bullish. But like you said, the GOOD TIMES will not last forever, so wisdom is required to know when to bail out of one's SHORT DISTANCE FLIGHTS.  However, I've been picking up some UBA, Dangotesugar and Oceanic when they bottomed out (although I bought some UBA at 50+, but still picked up a reasonable chunk at 49). So, like Oga wanajo will say, those are possibly LONG HAUL FLIGHTS for me, but I must also apply FatherOf2 strategy of "taking out your profit and allowing the principal to still be growing" abi FO2

@All,
Please, who knows when CSCS accounts will be credited for the Fidelity and AIICO POs Abeg answer me now.

will show u my pilots licence but if the plane isnt on autopilot by tomorrow i will have had a bad teacher be that!
only kidding, but really i am quite sure oceanic will do well as usual in the medium to long term as u know i am not really keen on fly-by-night shares (even though i struck at night  tongue). I followed my nose ie (analysis) on this one and its a big boeing 22B share jet so it may take a while still for all the air hostesses to serve everyone on the plane.
be patient dear friend, be patient

@aktopgun,
you can see I said this already yesterday, note the bold prints. I got into Oceanic after I read the handwriting on the wall, but my only worry is that I didn't go close to the cockpit, so I became afraid when you said we were on-board a highjacked plane. However since you have re-assured me, I'll hold my peace.

Ha. If you have been following the Zenith discussion you will note that some already predicted that it will lose steam today. It may still come out strong at end of trading but the turbulence must hit today as profit takers go for 5% on large volumes. That N50 mark is a heavy resistance line for now.

I followed it-o my brother but didn't really believe it, thought it could be able to weather the resistance. Na wa-o for all this large volume profit-takers. Anyway, it's good for some more people to come on board, then it will take off again, viz-a-viz the PHB phenomenon.

Looks like our mighty Zenith is having a stop=over sooner than expected. It's loosing 1.00 naira today on the floor. Also seems like the light has fully shun on the Petroleum sector, most of them are jsut comfortably sittinginthe gainers chart with high figures. NSE, very interesting-o

No clue. They never meet up with the dates in the prospectus. However, I don't expect any of these to be credited (if this is the case) soon. Not within the next 3 months for Fidelity and even 6 months for Aiico. Aiico just finished bare a month ago na.

Thanks a lot

@pumping,
I can see you've deleted your earlier post, which I was about to pick up.

@hbrednic,
well, I think you've just hit the nail on the head. Because, if one already has a stock, you are to sell when it is likely to start trending downwards( when RSI has reached 70), so you can take your profit or cut your losses; and vice versa when RSI approaches 30. However this is just ONE INDICATOR, and the stockmarket is always not that predictable.
Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by upward(m): 3:21pm On Feb 05, 2008
RoughCut:

When the RSI is above 70 it is OVERSOLD and a retractment downward is imminent that will be the time to BUY and when the RSI dips below 30 it is OVERBOUGHT and a upward price movement is imminent and that will be the time to SELL

Thnx for spotting that!

Still not sure about the above, I think you are mixing it all up Roughcut. when a downward movement of price is IMMINENT, will that now be a time to BUY or SELL, and when an UPWARD price movement is IMMINENT, will that now be a time to SELL? I think it's still the opposite, or am I missing something
