Eeyah! You seem to be half-informed, yet frustrated. How did Nigeria and Buhari destroy your life? I think government needs to do something fast about the level of drug abuse in the country. Look at what cheap illegal drugs have turned you into.
MY HONEST ADVICE TO YOU: As it is not possible that Nigeria be destroyed by some unknown asteroids......get a gun, blow up the brains of ur dad, ur mum, ur siblings and all ur family, then do yourself the honour of committing suicide. That way, your 'Nigeria' and that of your entire family would have been destroyed. As for the Federal Republic of Nigeria where I, my family, my friends and loved ones reside, no evil shall befall her in JESUS Name!

I can see that you are a product of Allen Avenue Brothel. but you can hide your inherent hare brained character sometimes. No matter how bad they would talk of Ibb, people would always remember 3rd mainland bridge. When you mention Buhari, the first thing and perhaps the only thing that comes to mind is war against undiscipline. Can you point anything that Buhari is known for. Go and vote for Buhari. Johnathan is really trying for you guyds jor

drexx: Buhari again? I wonder what he hopes to achieve with all this rants. I always say it and I would keep on saying it, Buhari is one of the persons that plunged nigeria into this state of doom we are in today. He took part in a coup which in itself is a big crime. What did he achieve in office apart from war against undisciplined? Flogging and beating nigerians. at least one can point out the things that IBB did but Buhari, can't find any. we all know GEJ is bad but if Buhari is the only alternative, then Johnathan till 2019. Buhari doesn't have the moral justification to criticize Johnathan. Nigeria doesn't need an Islamic Extremist as president

Pataki:

I don't live in Nigeria. I am from the South-West. The last experience I had from the South West was under the PDP administration. I am currently and independently reviewing the works which some of the State governments are doing under the new ACN administration. I just finished documenting that of Lagos State and I can say, I am impressed. Ogun State is undergoing massive urban renewal. Demolition of obsolete structures, expansion of roads, etc. I was truly glad that now you cannot just park your car anyhow in some part of the State without getting a parking ticket on your car. This has created employment for some.

I am heading to Ekiti next to review what they are doing there. But the honest truth is that, without a credible and intelligent corrupt free leader at the center, it would seem that any effort being undertaken at state or local level is a sheer waste of time.
Nice work Sir! May I also add that you need to see the transformation in Oyo state. Challenge, Mokola, Iwo Road, Agbeni-Ogunpa market etc that used to be a source of concern to the state due to illegal hawking, traffic congestion, criminal activities are now sights to behold. Truly ACN is working!

Shame on you, you illiterate donkey, for the rubbish you wrote up there. Who criticizes America more than Americans? Besides, Illiterate, did you somehow miss the fact that this is how he started off: "By convention one usually would like to talk about his country outside its shores in glowing terms extolling its virtues and defending its values and interests. But the situation in our country is so bad and no one knows this better than the international community, that it would be futile to take this line today. "

Anyway, let me leave you with this famous quote, hopefully your hypocritical self catches the drift:

We don't put some factors into consideration when analyzing some things. 10K might be chicken change to you because you either stay in Lagos or Abuja. Things in these cities are way expensive than these other states.
Was in Abuja some years back priced a commodity for N2000K and outside Abuja got that same thing of same quality for N800, you see the price difference!

The cost of living in these cities, states are of great margin.
10K should go a long way for a person living in Osun outside the state capital probably.

Comparing price of farm produce in Texas and NY city, very in.sane I am sure.
Well said. May I also add that I live in Abuja. I work as a temporary consultant with an agency in the FCT and I reside in Kubwa (a satellite town on the outskirts of FCT and about 25 minutes drive into the city centre). I occupy a two bedroom flat with my brother who also works with another agency. What we pay per annum is #650,000 and our flat is one of the cheapest around. Newly built two-bedrooms go for #700k-800k per annum. I have a cousin who works in Ilesa, Osun State with NASENI, he occupies a 3-bedroom flat but pays only about #50,000 per annum. So yes, anyone who earns #20,000/monthly in Osun can afford at least a decent self-contain or one-bedroom flat with ease.

I conclude that there is a fundamental problem in Nigeria that needs to be addressed by all and sundry. As at the last time I checked osun did not pay his pensioners until after 15th,gratuity and arrears yet to be paid, selling forms for civil service jobs that are not available. I believe d gov is working but the noise is more than what is actually doing in the real sense of it.
As at the last time I also checked, the FG were yet to pay my mother's pension arrears since 2006 till date after serving for 35 years. At least, Aregbesola is paying, maybe a little late but he is!

Its such a pity that NLs cannot understand the political scene per time. That some governors cried that they couldn't pay minimum wage doesn't mean they couldn't pay in the real sense of it. Even some oil-producing states that got extra-budgetary allocations claimed they couldn't pay. How come all the states are now paying minimum wage?
About Osun state, it is true that the present ACN gov met the state bankrupt......the former PDP governor went to the extent of borrowing funds to build six stadia in the state (the craziest project ever carried out by any governor).......when Rauf Aregbesola resumed office, the first thing he did was employ 20,000 youths (whether or not that affected the statistics of unemployment, I don't care).....and what they were paid was #20,000 monthly. For those saying that that amount is paltry for graduates......they should remember that: 1. The standard of living in Osun is low as compared to other states. 2. Accomodation is really affordable. 3. Some states are not even making any effort to reduce unemployment. 4. Aregebesola didn't force anyone to accept the OYES job (so the retard calling the job a form of slavery should shut the f.uck up). Anyone who doesn't want the job should sit back @ home and be waiting for FG appt or oil & gas job. Afterall, there is NASENI, INEC and NIMC (federal agencies) in Osun state.
Finally, Aregbesola stated that Osun state doesn't wait for allocation from FG before they pay salary, then is Osun a poor state? Poor could have different meanings depending on the context it is being used. I stand to be corrected, but I think Aregbesola's usage of 'poor' to describe the state was to win the sympathy of investors and corporate organization to invest in Osun State.
Please, we should be more objective in our assessment of the polity before we type and share on NL.

Family / Re: Mum Still Slaps Me At 23 Years Old by vicope: 8:49pm On Feb 25, 2013
Much has been said, its left for the OP to make a wise decision!
In my opinion:
1. No one is above mistake; but the OP should have at least in the last 23 years have a clearer picture of what her mum dislikes. She should try to be of best behavior.
2. It is ABSOLUTELY wrong to hold back your mother's hand or try to fight back. Biblically and culturally, it is wrong. The best solution as suggested earlier by well-meaning NL is to have a decent and mature conversation with your mum! Make her understand how you truly feel, what you intend to do when next it happens and other meaningful discussion! Do not THREATEN her, but make her understand you're fed up.
3. Never for any reason, disrespect or be at loggerhead with your mum. I had a little disagreement with my Dad in 2010, I travelled briefly and didn't call him throughout my absence. Unfortunately, he died without showing any sign of illness and I never had th opportunity to make up with my dad. Please note, that before this argument I had with my dad, we never had any reason to disagree. He was such a gentleman! Till date, I find it hard to forgive myself for what happened.
4.I always have misunderstandings with my mum over very trivial issues.....so I decided to drawback a little! I got a job, made sure I was always busy, avoided long chats, stopped collecting unnecessary gifts and money from her (this is very difficult but there are some things you don't need- you should avoid receiving excess money), stood firm on every decision I took, I don't laugh unnecessarily at every joke made in the house (even though they we're funny) and so on. It really hurt my mum but I gained a great deal of respect. Even though we still have arguments, itz not as intense as it used to be, precise I walk out on heated arguments and come back later pretending like we never had one, thereby preventing any form of malice.
5. If you decide not to have a BF so you can concentrate on your education....good decision! But whoever tells you that you're too young to be dating @ 23 is crazy. What they should be talking abt is an healthy relationship devoid of s-e-x.
6.Patience is a great virtue.....remember that you will leave mum's house one day. Also, mum won't be around forever! Just believe that the number of years remaining for you to receive slaps is not up to one-third of the time in which you have received slaps. LOL
7.Your last sentence showed a little arrogance in you.....I hope you don't speak to mum in that manner? Maybe that's one of the reasons she slaps you often. Not justifying her actions though!
8.I believe you should also pray to God to make your mum a better woman and understand you better!
And when she finally stops slapping you, please don't forget to share your testimony with NL. grin Best of Luck

mercylicious: Hahahah.
Ur own was just slap. My mum will flog me, if the cain breaks completely, the beating will start. When she is satisfied, she will push me out and lock me out of d house for days with no food even at 20.she will instruct my siblings to make sure I get no food. I will sleep under d staircase for days and be bitten by mosquito. The worst is dt it was just me dt she treats like dt. At a time, I went to report her to her parents. When she was called, I don't know what she told them, dt they all turned against me. She came back and told me to go and report again. I got tired of sleeping in d staircase dt each time she did dt, I will look for a relation and visit and at the end, they will beg her to accept me back.
How did it stop? Shortly b4 my Nysc, I can't remember exactly what happened. She beat me and I pushed her down. She came back wit more fury and I made sure I beat her back. She started shouting. All my siblings except my immediate younger joined her in beating me.
After dt, respect came back.
Currently, no one likes her. She noticed it and started apologising. She was actually frustrated and being d 1st, she let out her frustration on me. She was a young widow with 5 children struggling to survive. She had a high class she was b4, and was trying to cope wit d new status. At times they culd be owed months salary, and all dt made her more frustrated.
I know sum won't believe this, but d beating starts at d slightest opportunity. I remember this particular one- I was switching on the bulb and d bulb could not come on. She said I've spoilt d bulb. She beat me and made me replace the bulb. I remember a guy dt used to be my nephew's friend gave me d money. On several occasions, it could be dt she gave me our feeding money for the week and while doing account for her, the money doesn't balance, maybe by N5. Growing up without my father was tough, but dt was when I made up my mind I would try my best to be independent in life.
WoW! U really have gone through a lot. Wish you better dayz ahead!

Hmmm......are u for real?
Family / Re: Mum Still Slaps Me At 23 Years Old by vicope: 5:49pm On Feb 25, 2013
greatgod2012: @ op im a mother, and i cant think of d last time i slapped my kids, not to talk of an adult, i guess your mum is naturally aggresive, what i will advise you is that, when you are both in good mood, walk up to her and tell her you have something that is really bothering you, and since you claim she loves you, she will want to give you attention, go to her, kneel down and tell her your mind, that you dont like d way she slaps or shout on you, let her know what you will likely do if such repeat itself, say whatever you want to say with all humility as well as with all seriousness, remind her that some of your mates are already mothers, and you dont believe somebody of your age should always be slapped like that.
Ask her if shes transfering d anger she has towards your dad to you, ask her if she will be happy if her own mother treat her like that at that age, ask her so many thought provoking questions, that she will know that she has actually gone beyond normal, let her know this is not d best way to correct you, even, if you err.
And one more thing, make sure you always behave well.
I wish you all d best.
U truly are an example of a good mum. +10000000000 likes

Lagos Bride To Be Is Hit By Vehicle And Killed When Trying To Recover Her Purse

A young lady identified as Bukola Adelowo, met her untimely death on Friday in Lagos as she was killed by a fast moving vehicle when she attempted to recover her bag snatched by a suspected thief – the suspect also met his waterloo as he was knocked down by another car which killed him.Information Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred at about 7 a.m., on the busy Adeniji Adele-Oworosoki Expressway on the Lagos Island.

The suspect allegedly snatched the lady’s bag and ran across the six-lane expressway.
“The lady ran after him to recover her bag without being mindful of the vehicles on the road. The suspect and the lady were killed by two different vehicles.

“The body parts of the lady were scattered on the road, and the accident caused a heavy traffic,” a source said.
A lady, who simply identified herself as Olufunke and who claimed to be a younger sister of the deceased, said that the victim was concluding arrangements for her wedding in July before her tragic death.

Olufunke, who was sobbing uncontrollably, said that she was informed of her elder sister’s death on phone by someone who knew both of them and she immediately rushed to the scene of the incident.

“The dead lady is my sister. Her name is Bukola Adelowo. She was to marry in July. Her fiancée just left Nigeria for abroad to prepare for the wedding. It is a very sad moment,” Olufunke said.
Contacted, the Lagos police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said she was yet to be informed of the accident. (NAN)

Foreign Affairs / Obama Asks Supreme Court To Allow Gay Marriage by vicope: 11:58am On Feb 24, 2013
The Barack Obama administration took another step toward institutionalizing gay marriage, formally asking the US Supreme Court to strike down a 1996 law defining marriage exclusively as a union between a man and a woman.

The request was contained in a legal brief filed Friday with the US court, whose nine justices will next month review whether or not to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans marriage between homosexuals.

The document marks the first time a president has endorsed same-sex marriage rights before the Supreme Court.

According to the filing, the Defense of Marriage Act “violates the fundamental constitutional guarantee of equal protection” before the law stipulated by the US Constitution.

DOMA “denies to tens of thousands of same-sex couples who are legally married under state law an array of important federal benefits that are available to legally married opposite-sex couples,” read the brief signed by US Solicitor General Donald Verrilli.

The case before the Supreme Court involves Edith Windsor, a lesbian who married in Canada in 2007 but whose spouse and partner of 40 years died. She was required to pay more than $360,000 in federal estate taxes because she was not considered married under DOMA.

The White House position, however, came under fire from Republicans in the House of Representatives.

In a brief filed Friday, they insisted they have a legal right to defend the law in the Supreme Court in the absence of a defense from the executive branch.

Last month, 10 US senators urged the court to uphold the act and not to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

All of these senators had voted for the Defense of Marriage Act and in a friend-of-the-court brief, they said it was inconsistent for the Justice Department to have assured Congress the law was constitutional while it was being crafted in the mid-1990s only to raise questions now.

“The time to speak was in 1996, when Congress gave careful consideration to the need for DOMA,” they argued.

The Obama administration’s decision to challenge the law comes as little surprise. Obama has signaled on various occasions recently that he is that he is in favor of gay marriage.
During his second inaugural address last month, the president drew parallels between the struggle for gay rights and the Civil Rights movement of past decades.

“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well,” Obama said.

He also drew a parallel between several watershed struggles in US history: the landmark Seneca Falls convention in 1848; the 1960s civil rights battles; and the Stonewall riots of June 1969, which are widely seen as having launched the gay rights movement.
Obama’s also chose gay poet Richard Blanco to read a specially composed poem at his second inauguration.

Already during his first term in 2011, Obama abolished the Pentagon’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy requiring military recruits to hide their homosexuality, or risk being expelled from the service.
In 2012, he became the first sitting US president to speak out in favor of gay marriage.

This past week, the Pentagon officially extended some military benefits to same-sex partners, but said services like medical coverage would not be offered to gay troops’ spouses because of DOMA.

“One of the legal limitations to providing all benefits at this time is the Defense of Marriage Act, which is still the law of the land,” Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said.

About 17,000 same-sex couples in the armed forces were affected by the decision, including 5,600 active duty service members.

The effect of the DOMA law is to ban gay marriage at the federal level. After victories in several local referendums however, it is now legal in nine out of 50 US states and in Washington DC.

Crime / Jealous Brother Hacks Sibling To Death (GRAPHIC PICTURES) by vicope: 3:15am On Feb 24, 2013
Policemen attached to Ilemba Hausa division have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother, a Merchant Navy to death while he was asleep.

The incident, occurred at the early hours of Wednesday morning at Oritse Street in Imude community, under Oto-Awori local development council area of Lagos.

After allegedly committing the devilish deed, the suspect, Allen Biodun, 30, reportedly dragged the remains of his brother, Allen Olawale Ayetimi, 24, to an uncompleted building behind their compound and dumped it inside the foundation of the building, covered it with leaves.Thereafter he quietly went to his room and took his late brother's ATM card, his Merchant navy uniform and phone.

Crime Guard gathered that the deceased only returned from an official trip to Port Harcourt at about 11pm Tuesday. Although, the late Olawale was based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. But his mission to his family's house as reliably gathered, was to settle a score between his elder brother and mother.

Neighbours who referred to Biodun as a terror in the area, alleged that he was also responsible for the death of his father two years ago. He was alleged to have poisoned his father's food in order to take over his three-bedroom bungalow as inheritance.

After his father's death, Biodun reportedly chased his mother and siblings out of the main building, giving them the two shops in front of the house

No one, could however tell whether there was any scuffle between Olawale and his elder brother on his arrival. But Crime Guard gathered that there had been a lingering dispute between the duo. Sources attributed the dispute to petty jealousy which could be likened to that of the biblical Cain and Abel story.

The death of their father as gathered, saddled Olawale with the responsibility of catering for members of his family, since he was the only one who was working among them. Unknown to him, his good will did not go down well with his elder brother, who on the other hand, reportedly resorted to buglary and bullying as a means of survival.

At other times, Biodun reportedly did menial jobs. But the fear of Biodun in the environment was the beginning of wisdom.

"After the death of his father, he took to burglary. Everybody is afraid of him in the street. The only thing people did was to close their doors or even enter their rooms whenever they see him coming. Even if you see him stealing your property, you have no option than to beg him to return them because if you shout at him, he will beat you and nobody will come to your rescue", a resident said, when Crime Guard visited.

Another possible reason attributed to the seeming 'cold war' between the duo as gathered, followed Olawale's refusal to sometimes meet with Biodun's financial demand, an action the latter took as intimidation and disrespect on his person.

Journey to death

On arrival from Port Harcourt that fateful day, Olawale reportedly washed his uniform, took his bath and shared a brief moment with his mother and siblings in the shop they were confined to,during which he informed them that his mission home was to convince his brother to accept them back into the main building, unaware that he would never live to see his mission accomplished. Before retiring to his bedroom which he shared with his elder brother, Olawale was said to have instructed one of his sisters to boil water for him to bath the next morning.

But apprehension set in at about 7am Wednesday, after his sister went to inform him that the hot water was ready, only to discover his blood stained clothes on the floor, without any sight of him. As she was about to leave the room, she reportedly met Biodun, who informed her that Olawale had gone to the bank. Unsure of what to do, his sister, reportedly alerted her mother who raised an alarm that created a scene in front of the building.

At that moment, a neighbour identified as Mr Sunday Abogunrin, disclosed to the gathering that he saw Biodun hours back, dragging something on the ground. Their greatest fear was confirmed when Biodun bolted at the verge of being questioned about the whereabouts of his younger brother. Noone, could at first run after him, apparently unsure of what he could be up to. It only took the efforts of a man among the crowd to catch him. After much persuation, Biodun reportedly took the crowd to where he laid the remains of his younger brother. On closer look, a deep cut, was discovered in the late Olawale's neck and forehead.

How I killed my brother

A mild drama reportedly unfolded as Biodun, according to eye witnesses, started behaving like someone that was mentally ill, following his incoherent statement. But at a point, he reportedly confessed to have stabbed Olawale while he was sleeping.

The neighbour who claimed to have seen Biodun dragging the body of Olawale, told Crime Guard that: "I came out at about 1 am to ease myself at the backyard, when I noticed some movements. Out of curiosity, I peeped to see who it was, only to find Biodun dragging something on the floor. When I finished from the toilet, he was returning from where he went. I noticed his hands were stained with blood and when I asked where the blood came from, he said he just killed a goat. I never suspected anything, so, I went inside to sleep. It was when I heard shout from their compound in the morning that I had to disclose what happened"

The residents who wondered why a man could go as far as taking his own brother's life, were however not too surprised, as some of them claimed they saw it coming.

According to one Ochukwo: "It is unfortunate that Olawale died. Biodun has actually made do his threat because he had on several occasions boasted that he would be the one to kill Olalwale someday. He had stabbed him before during a fight and since then, had told several persons that he would kill him someday".

On why nobody cared to inform the police about Biodun's threat , the residents said they would not want a situation whereby he would come after them at the end of the day.

Crime Guard gathered that Biodun's mother and siblings were currently not only devastated by the tragic incident but were also afraid Biodun could carry out a more dastardly act if let off the hook.

He was however, handed over to the traditional ruler of the community, who thereafter, invited the Police.

@seunnaija,I'm tempted to engage you in an argument, but on a second thought, I know I'm smarter than that. I'll leave Nairalanders to judge who has more intelligence btw the both of us. Thanks to the easy accessibility to the internet, bigots like you just write any rubbish thought that comes to their mind and post for every1 to see ur level of IQ. Truly, those who live in glass house should not throw stones........but u're too daft to know this!

I tried to restrain myself from commenting on this thread but couldn't help it. Here's my honest opinion:

1. The writer would have made a lot of sense except for the sentimental undertone which the write-up reeks of.

2.The writer tried to judge Goldie, thereby ending up committing a sin. We are in no position to judge anyone either living or dead. The Bible stated in seperate verses, do not judge.....judge not the dead!

3. The writer knew Goldie and not Susan Bimpe Harvey.

4. The writer insisted Goldie was a junkie, even when autopsy has revealed she died of hypertension. Obviously, the writer must have been the drug dealer that supplied her the drugs she took.

5. Why did the writer have to wait until Goldie's demise before speaking out on the moral decadence in the society? Before Goldie, we had other controversial entertainers like Cossy Orjiakor who flaunts her body without caution, why wait for someone's death as an inspiration to speak out? Isn't that craving for 2 minutes fame?

6.If his friend died for saving his mother's life, how does that become a national pride? Goldie would have done same for her mother, so will I! I know several other people who have done even more selfless things and lost their lives in the process, yet their friends don't clamour for national honour for them.

7. If anyone decides to honour Goldie, well, she deserves it, as a young lady who followed her dreams and carved a niche for herself in her choosen career despite all what the gadflies said about her. She didn't just sit in her room writing baseless, non-profit articles like the writer. Goldie was an ambassador for peace, she was the president of an NGO that advocates for the emancipation from violence against women! How else can one impact her society?

8. The writer tried to prove to be self-righteous. I wonder if he would have written the same if Goldie was his sister! We all have sinned and no is pure before God, so please spare us that morality crap already! Do we know what the writer engages in in secret?

9. Jesus had all the right to be the first to stone the adultress yet He didn't, so why do we act as if we were appointed judge over men? Do we know Goldie's personal relationship with God?

10.Whatever the writer meant by Obama sending drones to whoever, only confirmed my curiousity about the writer's intent.

Number 10 point led me to check the facebook account of the writer and I found out from previous posts of the writer on facebook, he is nothing but a religious bigot/extremist who supported the killing of the US ambassador in Libya over one foolish video! A person who derives pleasure in hearing about how some useless extremists killed a jew or an isreali.
We must be careful about how we receive other people's opinion!
A proverb says
"The truth when spoken with evil intent is worse than all lies that can ever be told". In as much as the writer made sense on the issue of moral decadence, the intent behind the message wasn't genuine!

Finally, we should let the dead rest. Goldie has lived her life, how do we want to live ours? Do we just wake up each day and discuss other people's lives? Aren't there more productive things to engage in? I would advise the writer to leave the issue of moral decadence for clergymen and imams, he should channel his writing prowess into something more productive like Chimamanda Adichie did! Before he (writer) was born, the moral decadence was already there, we already had entertainers who promoted obscenity way back before now! Only God knows who will make heaven....

I don't need anyone to insult or comment on my post, I only shared my opinion which I am entitled to.
