>> There is NO such thing as Consultant Pharmacist or Nurse existing in GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL OR TEACHING HOSPITAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE US.
>> All known consultants are in their privately owned set up. Patronage is from doctors referral of private patients needing private touch.

>> This does make sense considering their peculiar society. We do not have old peoples homes or a large number of people requiring and able to afford concierge health services.

>> The US government DOES NOT have consultant Pharmacist or consultant nurses or consultant physiotherapists in its public service structure.

>> My source of information is from pharmacists employed by US government in John's Hopkins and Veterans Affairs Hospital in US.

[8:57am, 07/07/2014] ‪+234 708 362 9353‬: They are not called CONSULTANT NURSE or CONSULTANT PHARMACIST but NURSE CONSULTANT and PHARMACY CONSULTANT to highlight the roles they are expected to play which is to consult and prescribe on minor ailments in rural areas where doctors are not available, just like the those ascribed to the CHEWS in this country. So they do not work in large government hospitals and are supposed to be supervised though. They are not positions like that of a consultant medical practitioner but terms describing the roles played.

It is unfortunate that those that are suppose to be responsible for the regulation of healthcare practises in Nigeria are not doing their jobs. The MDCN, NMA, ARD, the private medical practitioners and the ministry health should create a comprehensive data base of all medical practitioners including expatriates and foreign-trained Nigerian professionals, accessible to everyone all over the world. Enough of this nonsense, lets safeguard the health of our nation.
