Politics / Re: Do You Support A 2 Party System For Nigeria? by WarriBoyz: 8:43am On Oct 11, 2009

remove the yorubas, edo , delta and bayelsa state into benin republic. multiple party is the best. 2 party would end in a one party state. they would bribe the other party.

This thread would not complete without becomerich. Haba na one track mind u get o!

On topic, how can you legislate a two party system? Nowhere in the world has that ever been done. Are you going to define their ideology or their goals? Their political structure and membership? What a disaster that would be. The two party system in USA is failing, just look at them in an ideological headlock. They can no longer compromise on even the simplest of issues - it is pure us vs them.

I like parliamentary form of government for 9ja. It matches our multicultural background. I believe state govt's need more power to legislate and organize their own resources, as long as allotment is made back to other states according to guidelines set forth in the constitution. Just look what Fashola is doing in Lagos.

another thing.
here is my THEORY:
i do believe that the first humans were ape like. not exactly coming from apes, but very much ape like.
and the first humans were said to have been in the ethiopian/somalian/northern kenya area.
so i have reason to believe that the first somalis or ethiopians looked like cave men.
then eventually over time you know the humans evolved spread out. moved into europe/asia ect. . .
years and years went by, ect. . .
THEN the arabs that started trading or doing whatever they were doing in africa eventually mixed with their neighbors (the ethiopians/somlis ect. . .)
so thats where i have a reason to believe they got their look from.
so all these people claiming they are 100% whatever, PLEASE CUT THE BULL.

Amaka, these comments are too harsh. There are many beautiful women from the area you mention and I find comparing them to apes very offensive. Something an oyinbo person would do, not a fellow african. Lets try and keep our heads above water here.

I'm sure you a very beautiful lady even though your profile pic right now, I can't make too many comments on  grin

LOL who cares though? that's the thing. No men scarcity over here. so what's up with these noise-makers?
Like the beautiful ones of the so-called foreigners will give 'em the light of day. They always end up with the ugly ones unless the guy is loaded with moola, which I'm sure these dudes aren't.  Grin

Haha chiogo, u have no idea how true that is. You should see some of the oyinbo's that 9ja's over here are dating and/or marrying. And of course they will always say they are attracted to the inner beauty which may be true for some. But I know alot of them just think they are marrying 'up'. Anyway I never said 9ja women were the most beautiful, I just pointed out that the OP has a skewed sense of what beauty really is.

I think we are way off topic. The discussions about beauty and perception of beauty were at least related to the OP in some way. But tossing sand back and forth at each other is just negative. Please ease up on the personal attacks.

No, they are nations, and they act like nations. Plus you should know that on the internet things are often abvd.

Old history. Fulani and Igbo had empires but they were never 'nations'. There are Fulani in 7 or 8 different countries in West Africa, so maybe you could refer to them as being 'multi-national'. On topic, yes Fulani and Igbo can boast some very beautiful women to be sure. Out of curiosity, are there any broz dating a Fulani woman or married to one? I can honestly say I have met very few, if any women from that part of the country  .

So because they are darker than you, that means they not Arabs!!! so what would you call Lybians

You obviously don't get it. Have you seen a traditional Arab? Do they look anything like a Sudanese so called Arab? So you take a racially mixed person, who has some Arab blood maybe, but predominantly African features. And this person then decides to SELF IDENTIFY as Arab. What do you call this? Or are you too blind to recognize self-hatred. This is how the white race is winning the propaganda war oh MY PEOPLE!

Me, I love my people and I love my womenz.

Somalis could only wish they were Arab. Only a few "clans" over there are Arab mixed, and they feel superior to all other Somali's. NEXT!

Thank you. Even though why anyone would feel superior for having ARAB blood in them, is beyond me. That is why Sudan is breaking my heart to this day. Have you seen those in govt that call themselves Arab? They are darker than me. Self-hate, the great weapon of the white race.

P.S - You get bonus points if you can tell me who the Nubians were. ROFL.

Your forgetting that the Fulani are from the East African or Central African region,  The Somalis are the finished article

Omar, you need to educate yourself before posting with abandon. The Fulani people originated in West Africa then migrated eastwards. They are off-shots of the Peul ethnic group, with language links to Wolof and Serer. The Somalis on the other hand are an ancient afro-asian ethnic group that originated in the Horn of Africa. They are closely related to Ethiopian and Eritrean populations (don't remind them of that though), and have NO relation to Fulanis whatsoever.

@all

It is foolhardy and immature to think that beauty is strictly about physical appearance.
Appearance can infact be deceptive. I have refused to hop along the train of media deceit as it applies to our world, our children should be thought that beauty comes in different forms, shapes and sizes, and that true beauty lies within. My most memorable and incredible relationships have been with people who 'by media standard' would be considered otherwise.

Wakey Wakey.

I agree with you. But also keep in mind that, after watching hollywood movies for years, most african youth have drunk the kool-aid. They believe the oyinbo's that tell them that long straight hair, tiny noses and thin lips are the measures of beauty. And then you look in the mirror and hate yourself because you are not like that. Amazing. It is one thing to admire another races features from afar, but being dangerously obsessed with them to the point of self-hatred? I am not that weak.

And I am not lying when I say I find african women to be the most beautiful in the world - TO ME. That is my (biased) opinion. And I have been with women from everywhere so I am being a little bit objective as well  grin

now let me take u on a trip to the continent that i have seen women looking like the sun goddeses. that place is called south america. as a newly married couple, the last mistake u will make is to take your honey- moon to brazil. these girls are so beautiful that even a rev father may be tempted. ever wondered why venezuelan women kept winning the miss universe thing? then take a peep into bogota, the colombian capital or habana (called havana for the uninitiated). the problem is that even the black skinned women from these countries are very beautiful. with long and curly hairs. 90% of our guys who live in south america are married to their women or have kids with them. i have no problem with nija women,i know a lot of them are beautiful (they should cut down on the nni ewu that they always carry on their heads),bt i dont do nija women and that is not a crime or disrespect to them. just that it wont work out for us.

You don't 'do' 9ja women? Where are you from? Your post is more offensive than the OP's. You srsly prefer women of other races to your own kind? Everyone gather round and study this case in self-hatred. Ole boy, you stand alone.
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Bloody Naive? by WarriBoyz: 11:29pm On Oct 04, 2009
Rossike, your knowledge is impressive to say the least. Some of your points seem to contradict each other though - case in point you seem to make the argument for pan-africa on one hand, while also apparently believing that western capital investment is the necessary instrument for economic progress. My problem with that reasoning is this, I think we can universally agree that it is in the interest of the so called first world countries, to retard economic development in africa, thus maintaining the status quo. Africa's vast natural resources are fueling the economies of the West and now the East. While we serve as a target for their manufactured goods. Any macro-economic policy made by the West will surely be in support of this status quo, why would they undermine their own economies in favor of our own? My point being, it is unrealistic to expect, that western economic policy will ever be in favor of our development. And I am not talking about individual private investment, some of which we do have. But rather economic policy made at a national and international level. I think we can all agree that the policies of the IMF, World Bank and Paris Club have ravaged African economies for the past sixty years.

Our best chance for progress, lies in a well thought out strategy for economic development that DOES NOT REQUIRE WESTERN CAPITAL INFUSION. In other words we must look to the African continent as a source of economic growth. Promoting trade between countries on the continent and encouraging local production AND local consumption. This will actually have the positive effect of raising real world prices of our natural resources. After all if we pour a portion of these resources into our own development, then the laws of supply and demand dictate that prices for them will go up.

Africa must not go last in this development race o!

why thank you. I am gambian and the pics I posted were gambian girls. And Gambians are WEST AFRICANS. Just want to make that known lol

Haba don't do me like that! I know where Gambia is, infact I will be vacationing there soon smiley

And I 'throwaway salute' for standing up for our w african womenz! We have very beautiful women, in and out. But for the ladies on here, understand that the boyz will always want to sow the wild oats. I know men from all nations and all of them have the itch to try out other women, that is the nature of the beast. And to be honest you women want to do the same thing as well.

But I pity the man that after sampling dishes from around the world, doesn't come back to his home for a real meal.

China was never colonized so they never went through what Nigeria or other Africans have gone through

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_revolution

Please focus in particular on the 'Long Term Results' section. It is true China never became a protectorate but for all intents and purposes they were a 'colony' for decades.

Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Bloody Naive? by WarriBoyz: 9:23pm On Oct 04, 2009

Now if Africa must develop as we ought to, 5 ESSSENTIAL THINGS MUST HAPPEN.

1) We must realise that we have no ''friends'' in the international realm. We are on our own. All those whom we think are our ''friends'' are only there to exploit and divide us.

The likes of Abati and other ''columnists'' are the first who need to imbibe this message.

This realisation would, in natural consequence lead ultimately to the following ESSENTIAL transformative events:

1) Continental Unification, ie centralisation of political and economic decision making power.

a) Where this is problematic, we could split the continent into NO MORE THAN THREE STATES, NORTH, CENTRAL, AND SOUTH.

2) We must develop as a matter of urgency, internal, INTRA-continental  trade systems and mechanisms which succeed in keeping the labours and productivities of the continent WITHIN the continent in order to build its wealth and allow it to permeate the African population.

3) EXTRICATE the continent from the global financial/commodity pricing systems in which the prices of African natural resources are determined in resource-poor regions like France and Belgium, rather than in Africa.

4) Develop a powerful, integrated African MILITARY and intelligence forces to counter all  foreign attempts at sabotaging African independence.

5) Engage in INTENSE and SUSTAINED re-orientation of the African collective (similar to the rise of Confucianism in China) to create a New African Personality (as propounded by Nkrumah), in which the African sees himself and his continent as the FULCRUM of his existence, shedding the externalisation of the African consciousness.

I agree with point 1 (but not 1a). I also agree with points 2 and as a  matter of course, 3. However on your other points,  Africa will never be a united 'state'. It is unrealistic beyond imagining to think that would ever work. Even the few tribes in a place like Sierra Leone cannot get along, not to talk of trying to align Africa's several COUNTRIES as one cohesive block. I agree that a sea change in the general mindset is required, to combat this 'foreign creep' of ideals and culture. More appropriately stated, we have to salvage and restore the important parts of our culture that survived the brutalization of the colonial period. While at the same time incorporating the technology and ideas that serve us best from the colonists. After all, sub-saharan Africa was severely lagging behind the colonial powers when they arrived, in technological know-how. To be honest the most important thing for Nigeria now is a re-emphasis on education and an inward focus on improving ourselves. I want to see an alignment between African government that goes way beyond fancy speeches in state capitals. We need to build strong economic ties between the various African states to reduce our dependence on the West and East for imports.

We have a severe imbalance of trade with the West that serves them best and us least. But part of our problem is our youths have become propagandized to value products from the West while ignoring their own culture. Everyone wants their fancy Nike shoes and McD's burgers. Where is the encouragement of local industry? Where is the pride for Nigerian made goods? I want to see land reform and a phased economic expansion plan from the Government (agriculture->basic infrastructure->value-added industry->service industry). Its hard to believe that after 50 years of independence we have not built good basic infrastructure which is the backbone for economic development.

Instead we continue to export low priced resources, while importing high cost finished goods. No way we will ever advance with that kind of a 'strategy'! In all fairness, the pressures on us are huge, these neo-colonial powers have been playing this game for a very long time. But a united country can do wondrous things.

And for historical reference, I hope my brothers on here remember that China also suffered at the hands of colonial powers. Even more so than Nigeria did. Branding them an 'evil power' when in fact, we are the ones encouraging trade ties with them, is odd to say the least.
