Politics / IGP Bans Edo Security Network From Governorship Poll by wazzub: 3:29pm On Sep 13
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has announced a ban on the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) from participating in the September 21 governorship election in the state.

Egbetokun made this announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin.

The IGP stated that the responsibility for securing voters and election materials will rest solely with the police, supported by other national security agencies.

He emphasised that no private or state-owned security organisation would be permitted to operate during and after the election.

“All local security groups in Edo State should refrain from participating in the election. The activities of the Edo State Security Network are suspended and will remain so,” Egbetokun said.

He revealed that 35,000 police officers would be deployed for the election, with an additional 8,000 personnel from other national security agencies providing support.

He said security aides attached to VIPs would also be withdrawn even as he reeled out the various election offences and warned that anyone caught against them would be treated according to the law.

Egbetokun assured that the police would enforce the Electoral Act and other relevant laws to ensure a peaceful election environment.

The IGP warned against any acts of hooliganism or violence, stating that anyone caught with weapons during the election would face criminal charges.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced that the commission will collect uncollected Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) from across the 18 local government areas in in preparation for the election.

Prof. Yakubu explained that these PVCs would be stored in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) until after the election to ensure the will of Edo voters is accurately represented.

He reiterated that Edo State has 2,629,025 registered voters and to promote transparency, INEC has provided soft copies of the voter register to all political parties contesting the election. He added that in the coming days, INEC will also release a detailed breakdown of PVCs collected for each of the 4,519 polling units in the state.

Prof. Yakubu emphasised the collaborative nature of the electoral process, stating that while INEC plays a crucial role, the success of the election depends on the combined efforts of all stakeholders. He highlighted the global interest in the 2024 Edo governorship election, noting that 134 groups (124 domestic and 10 international) have been accredited to deploy 1,836 observers across the state.

He also revealed that parties will sign a Peace Accord on Thursday, encouraging them to honour their commitments and abide by the Accord’s terms for a peaceful election.

And the funny part is that I was not allowed to have security codes or passwords on my phone, and I was also not allowed to take my phone to school because my family monitored it almost everyday.

But I was always three steps ahead of them... grin grin grin

Even in varsity I was able to get access to the university staff members' WiFi password and these other guys also taught me how to bypass the university firewall just so I could watch movies during my free time.. grin grin grin.. I asked them to teach me how to use the dark web, but they refused and told me that I could end up losing my law license one day if I get caught.

Some students later got caught bypassing the university firewall, I started panicking thinking that I was next... I kept logging on to the internet to check if I was blocked from having access to the university's students WiFi and I was afraid that one day they'll call me to come for an interrogation, but I was never blocked and I never did received any call, meaning the university never did found out about me... grin grin grin

Politics / FLASHBACK: How Terrorists Planned Civil War In 2022 By Late Mailafia by wazzub: 12:13pm On Jul 29, 2022
Former deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mailafia Obadiah had on August 10 2020, raised the alarm on alleged plans by the Boko Haram terrorists to begin civil war in 2022.

The former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, made the exposure after meeting with some repentant Boko Haram members who, according to him, revealed the plans of the insurgents.

Mailafia, who spoke in an interview with the Nigerian Info as tweeted on his official Twitter handle, also alleged that a Northern governor was the overall Commander of Boko Haram.

According to Obadiah, the Boko Haram insurgents also planned to invade and kill prominent Nigerians in their homes in urban cities, stating that the attacks would be carried out in phases.

He said, “Let me make some revelations because some of us have our internal security networks, we have met with some of the bandits’ high Commanders who have repented and they told us that one of the Northern governors is the Commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria.

“Boko Haram and bandits are one and the same, they have a sophisticated network, during the lockdown, their planes were moving up and down with ammunition, logistics, money and distributing them in different parts of the country.

“They are already in the rainforest of the South, they are everywhere. They told us that when they finish these rural killings, they would move to phase two.

“In phase two, they will go into the urban cities, moving from house to house killing prominent people.

“I can tell you this is their game plan and by 2022, they want to start a civil war in Nigeria.”

The insurgents have been on rampage across the country, particularly in the North, killing and abducting unsuspecting citizens of the country since January 2022.

Recall in March 27, 2022, the terrorists attacked a train conveying passengers from Abuja to Kaduna, killed scores, while several passengers were whisked into the forest. As at press time, some of the victims are still held hostage.

Recall that on June 30, terrorists attacked Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, opened fire at a mining site and killed at least 51 persons, while scores of others were injured.

Those murdered in the attack included 10 police officers and 30 soldiers. The remaining 11 were civilians, while several Chinese Nationals were kidnapped too.

Same week, terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State and killed over 40 worshippers.

More worrisome is the invasion of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja where terrorists are currently on rampage, killing soldiers and civilians.

On July 5, suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists attacked the Kuje correctional center in the nation’s capital and freed at least 800 inmates. A security personnel was also gunned down during the attack.

A few days after that, terrorists ambushed a Joint Patrol team made up of troops of 7 guards Battalion and 176 Battalion of Guards Brigade during a patrol along the Bwari-Kubwa, Abuja, killed at least two soldiers and kidnapped 6 others.

Just few hours ago, terrorists attacked a military checkpoint, near Zuma rock in Niger State, 47 minutes drive from the nation’s capital.

My mechanic came around today and said that it is normal. If I turn on the ignition without starting the car all the dashboard lights come on.
When I finally start the car the lights go off
He said that it is not a problem at all and didn’t recommend anything .

Am I safe or I should go to another mechanic ?

I’m trying to get full details of the oil but the mechanic isn’t picking up now

Quit stressing over nothing. There is nothing wrong with your oil pressure switch as it's performance is normal. It comes on when you switch on the ignition and goes off a few seconds after the engine is started.

Car Talk / Re: Converted My Peugeot 407 Coupé V6 From Auto To Stick-shift by wazzub: 2:34pm On May 01, 2022
Ikenna351:
I converted my D2 Coupé V6 (ES9A) from 6-speed Automatic to Manual Transmission, which I started the conversion on 01/11/2021 and concluded on 19/01/2022. The project started in 2020 before the conversion commenced in 2021. Words cannot express what the car has become after the conversion, which became another success, after carrying out a similar successful conversion in my Z9 V6.

POST CONVERSION: THE JOURNEY SO FAR:

As good as Peugeot 407 V6 Saloon, Estate or SW road handling were, none impressed me enough to consider ever owning a 407 back then. Not until the day I test drove a Coupé version with V6 petrol engine matted to 6-speed Stick-shift box, I was sold, which later became a reality for me (whatever you set your mind to will manifest).

The only Peugeot I have driven that handles this well (even better) than this D2 V6 Coupé was RCZ. The fun part is not necessarily the high-speed, but driving into & through a corner on high-speed. It's one of those things that are better experienced than explained. And one more thing. The car loves to be swerved. You can't help but love doing it, at every opportunity you got. You can also always change the car position via the stick and pedals, and return the car body position back to original through the pedals and stick, while the bucket sporty seats glue your body to the seats without any move.

Interestingly, this Coupé is so long that it's almost as long as the Z9 V6 Stick-Shift. The Z9 is only 87mm longer. So, don't expect a compact/smaller interior space of the Saloon version. Even the rear seats are big enough for adults to sit comfortably with average headroom (unless you are that tall in height like over 6ft).

Notwithstanding, my D9 V6 Stick-shift is still quicker, but insignificant to me based on joy derived when in action. He is quite a heavy car, which is easily felt, but zero body roll on very high speed on corners or sharp swerve between lanes. Purely made for hardcore enthusiasts (more pronounced with the Stick-Shift)

The Coupé still suffer the 407 Saloon, SW & Estates suspension weakness. Superior in performance, but not as rugged as the predecessor. I can live with that. For these components to last longer, don't abuse them by speeding on potholes, bumps or similar road conditions.

The AC system is good, but not as cold chilly as the predecessor. It takes some higher blower speed to have effect, unlike the predecessor. Notwithstanding, avoid setting the blower to Auto mode, especially at high ambient temperature. Not good for the system overtime. Same weakness in other versions of the 407.

The seats are not meant for comfort. Hard surface feel which some may find uncomfortable on rough roads. It's a constant reminder that the car is designed for hardcore, even though it's not a sport car (when compared to RCZ). There is another car that serves the comfort purpose for me: The Z9.

Irrespective of the Coupé shortcomings, the positives outweigh the negatives. This car came for one purpose and he is serving that purpose perfectly well. You could still experience some of these benefits on the Auto versions of this Coupé, except it limits your driving skills (especially if you already have them or want to explore and add more).

Was converting him to Stick-shift worth it? Bleep yeah! Will I do it all over? Absolutely! A car that inspires you to jump out of bed every morning with smile, just to jump back behind the wheel and gear him into action.

CONCLUSION:

On the 05/01/2022 at Abuja - Nigeria, a man (Peugeot parts seller at Apo) said to me "The conversion you embarked on will never be successful, for attempting an impossible conversion. You won't go beyond the stage you claimed the conversion has reached. Mark my words this moment, you are going to scrap the car at this stage, for no one has ever successfully converted a 407 V6 Automatic to Manual gearbox", he concluded.

As I was walking away in disbelief in what I heard, I got to my Z9 I drove to Apo that very day and I couldn't help but wondered "Why ever bother to explain yourself to people?". Last I checked, similar words were said when I was converting this very Z9 V6 to Stick-Shift, "This conversion won't work", they all said.

One of the life lessons my 4 V6 Stick-Shift Peugeot vehicles have taught me is "You are the only obstacle to your happiness, not him, her or them, but you."

Lion-King Monk.

The Lion King himself. Welldone grin

Politics / BREAKING: Court Sacks Umahi, Deputy Over Defection To APC by wazzub: 3:33pm On Mar 08, 2022
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, sacked Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and his Deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress.

The judgement, delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, held that the total number of 393,042 votes Umahi secured at the March 9, 2019 Ebonyi State governorship election belonged to the PDP, hence could not be legally transferred to the APC.

The court noted that both Umahi and Igwe’s defection to the APC, not only threw out the PDP, but also the votes that belonged to the party.
