The raining issue among the youths today is the technological advancement the world is facing to, ranging from the production of antibiotics, nuclear weapons, latest games and software, social networks, Internet and a host of others. Almost all the students in any University or tertiary institution owns a laptop. But is this of real benefit to us? In a way it is, other way, it has its own pros and cons. Let me explain, all this technological advancement came as a way of shrinking the world into a global village; thereby creating the free flow of information from one continent to another. But this have really decrease the belief certain countries have in themselves. Lets take Nigeria for instance, almost all creature in Nigeria thinks that everything worth creating, has been created; any idea worth developing has been developed. This has made the country turn a deaf ear to whatever concept a child might decide to create. If a child doesn't have have a business acumen or is not educated, then the community sees him/her as being useless. Thank God there is a change in the musical and entertainment industry cos if not, the musicians and comedians we praise today might not have existed. In the academic side, students no longer develop their brains buy reading extensively and intensively, rather when given assignments, term paper; they plagiarize because they think that another person has done the work for them, so why waste time. But above all these, we tend to forget that the future of this country, this continent, this world really depends on us because the society we really abuse today may take revenge on us tomorrow.
So, why don't join hands and ask ourselves, friends, family, community and everybody we come across; Of What Benefit (will we gain from certain things)?
