Solution is simple but no political will to tackle it. I keep asking this question, why should 1 FG take 52.6% while 36states share 26%. Why do we have things like Federal roads when all these are in a state. The states fix these roads and FG will takes forever to pay. FG should get not more than 20%. FG should be responsible for things like military, police, immigration, customs e.t.c. FG should regulate other sectors and should not be responsible for building them.
By the way, check out how your state is doing http://www.yourbudgit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/THE-FATE-OF-STATES-Final.pdf

http://www.yourbudgit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/THE-FATE-OF-STATES-Final.pdf

This is no joke, I watch the chaps on TV and decided to visit the site. There are a couple of states that will go under considering the data here. We need to wake up from our slumber, no wonder the governors are crying out that they cant pay the 18K minimum wage. The drop in crude price has definitely given them a bit hit but this goes to show how lazy most of the states are. Now lets get serious , tell me
1) Why should FG get 52.6% while 36 states share 26%, 2) Why should roads, health care, school and co in a state be managed by FG after all these facilities are all in a state. They feel the pinch more. Infact they eventually do the job and beg FG to pay. This is rubbish
Lets us rise up and ask these questions, this is not PDP or APC stuff. The current federal system will not work ever. FG is too far from the people. FG doesn't know the infant mortality rate in your LGA, they don't care. FG has too much money and that's why our legislators can be demanding for so much funds as allowance. Ministers become billionaires overnight. We need to start asking some pertinent questions. I agree that ultimately the LGA is the closest to the people but for now we need to get government as close as possible, we can start with FG to states. Please fellow Nigerians, this system is not working. Forget the APC and PDP stuff, lets talk about Nigeria. Please I beg you all

Romance / Re: A fellow Nairalander needs your advice before crossing the rubicon. by XXCASH: 12:16am On Nov 03, 2015
Iamthewatcher:
I met my fiancee some few yrs ago. I've agreed to marry her but there are factors I still want to give a final consideration before signing the dotted lines. These are:

1. She is not literate but willing to go to school. I never dreamt of marrying an illiterate when I, myself is a graduate. Her waec result is nothing to write home about. In fact she wasted her time in secondary school as far as I'm concerned and when I asked her why she was such an olodo, she quickly blamed those she lived with. She said because she was more or less a maid then, she hadn't much time for her studies and that's why she failed woefully. When I met her, her use of english was zero and I had to exert much effort to bring her to the level where she could converse freely with me at least in english. She retook her ssce and credited all subjects except math.

2. She's 2yrs and 3months older than me. Some argue that a woman will age first when older and that's the reason men go for younger women or at worst, their age mates.

3: She sometimes feel inferior to me cos' of my literacy and polished way of going about my stuff.

4. She has a fat tummy. This I perceived to be an upshot of her eating habit before I met her. Can you believe that it was when I started staying close to her that I discovered that she doesn't drink water after eating. Maybe she does that very much later. She was an expert in devouring meat with her friends and never exercised. I also had to teach her to drink water first thing in the morning before taking breakfast. I discovered that her mouth was always dry as a result of this disgusting lifestyle. If she wants to have a word with me in low tone, I do perceive some offensive odours from the mouth sometimes. All this are changing slowly now cos' a damage of so many years can't just be corrected overnight. I'm putting much effort into rearing her cos' she's a wife material.

There are one or two other drawbacks I won't like to go into now as the aforementioned factors are the ones that baffle me the most. I sometimes get so annoyed and start abusing her. But she also has her good sides that even attracted me to her which are:

1. She is well-mannered.
2. She can cook very well.
3. She is very hospitable.
4. She's very respectful.
5: She's pretty and fair.
6. She's a wife material.
7. She's reserved.

The crux here is that we are presently, not on the same page as far as being learned and refined is concerned and I want to marry someone who'll be very refined as well. Though we stay as friends but I feel she doesn't measure up.
So my people, if you were in my shoes, can you go ahead and marry her despite these bad sides??
Pls and pls, helpful comments will suffice.

Cc: Lalasticlala

My advice, don't even try it. From the mail it tells me that you are not more than 30yrs old or likely not up to. I'm 43yrs and can tell you little experience that its more of sympathy than love. I have mediated in several cases. You have clearly stated some negative points that will hunt you forever. Give yourself a couple more yrs, there is no hurry in this marriage of a thing. A woman should be the pride of any man, can you comfortably pose with her outside like for a dinner with your friends.

Politics / Re: Wike Or Buhari Who Is To Probe Amaechi? Probe On Amaechi How Far?... by XXCASH: 8:12am On Aug 15, 2015
drshrewd:
I have these few questions for those giving in to the very puny effort by PDP to drag Amaechi’s Name to the mud

1) who is to probe Amaechi’s government wike or Buhary?
If it is Buhary that have to do this, it means that he also have to probe the 36 state governors as well as the 774 council bosses. We all know that this is insane and practically impossible. The state governors has the prerogative and time to probe and bring to book their predecessors just as the president also has the discretionary leeway to bring to book the dealings of past presidents. So people saying that the president should start his anti corruption war by probing past governors like Amaechi, Fashola, Tinubu,Elechi, Theoder Orji, et el, where we have state governors that have firsthand knowledge of their predecessors’ dealings are either out of touch with reality or deliberately obstinate

2)Probe on Amaechi by Wike. How far?
Wike’s probe panel set up over two months ago to investigate Amaechi’s government is conspicuously blown to oblivion due to dearth of incriminating evidence to indict the former governor. What PDP now resort to is cheap blackmail and propaganda that lack substance to sway the sentiment of impressionable minds. The latest was the one that was done by scannews.com a Rivers State government propaganda media that should not be taken seriously.

3)how come no commissioner, head of agency/parastatal, permanent secretary, Accountant general, etc of Amachi fingere.d so far?
In the mix of all the petty allegation of corruption levied against Amaechi why is it that no commissioner, head of agency/parastatal, permanent secretary, accountant general, former aid to the governor, etc is being indicted or seriously linked to misappropriation of found. It is almost impossible in a bureaucratic settings for a leader to be indicted without involving some of the people that worked with him. A shining example abounds in What is currently playing out in the federal level where heads are currently rolling over corruption ___former ministers, heads of agencies/parastatal, etc, are all involved in the mix.

4) How come the accountant general of the state was summarily dismissed without any reason or serious allegation of corruption against him.
Anybody that is abreast with state administration will understand that the accountant general of the state comes off as good or as bad as the governor in financial dealings because the former keeps records and is in privy of all the financial transaction of the state. The fact that the acc. General of the state was dismissed and allowed to go scort free without any serious allegation go to a greater extent to vindicate the former governor of all the unfounded allegation against him. Should the new appointee cook up some phony book? Only time will tell.

5)if Amaechi is corrupt and financially reckless as PDP claim why was it that as a governor he performed exceptionally well and did not plunge the state into debt
It is on record that Amaechi did not sink Rivers state into debt despite the monumental projects he embarked as a governor. In fact, he has one of the least debt profile among the rich states( check out the debt stock of states here) whilst leaving over N100b! owed by FG in the state coffers. Is it not preposterous to mention Amaechi’s name in the same line with financial recklessness.
For those of you that may have forgotten so soon the unparalleled giant strides of the former Rivers governor below is a summary of some of the land mark legacies of the former Amiable Rivers governor

1)Built over 500 schools with modern state of the art facilities with at least 10 in each LGA (which other state governor can beat this in quality and quantity), also transformed the once ailing state University to the standard it is today. no more cultism, strike, etc

2)Built over 100 primary and secondary health centers with well equipped facilities with at least 3 in each LGA (which other state governor can beat this in quality and quantity)

3)Trained and employed over 13,000 teachers and over 400 doctors(trained Abroad) to man those beautiful schools and health center respectively (even the president can’t match this)

4)He revolutionized infrastructure in Rivers state. Anybody living in Rivers state and really know the state very well will recall that Rivers state as a whole barely has five dualised road before the inception of Amaechi’s administration but the story has change as we have lost count in the number of high quality dualised road with underground drainage and pedestrian walk ways. Several fly over and bridges were constructed. Inner street construction was taken to another level with underground drainages and pedestrian walk way D-line, Oroworokwo, GRA areas come to mind. Check out the infrastructure in Rainbow town initiative stated by the Amaechi’s administration where we have clusters of several up rise building that are almost in completion stage. We also have the greater PH where modern city infrastructure is being constructed( Roads, underground utility system, etc) , Olympic sports complex of international standard with modern state of the art basket ball court (two), Olympic standard aquarium (Two), Fifa standard football pitch (40,000 capacity second largest in the country after Abuja stadium), volley court, etc.

How about the phenomenal revolution in agriculture, the Songhai initiative, Banana plantation, cassava plantation etc, RSSDA oversea scholarship for both indigenes and non indigenes, etc. the list goes on and on.

[b]just found out that the probe panel was actually given one month to submit their report to the governor but up till today no news about the report undecided check out http://www.punchng.com/news/wike-sets-up-panel-to-probe-amaechi/ https://www.nairaland.com/2389818/wike-sets-commission-inquiry-probe
does this not show that the panel did not find anything against AMAECH.

It is a good policy but I don't know how feasible it is when the number of unemployed is more than the employed. Some parastatals are owing their staff. Government complains on spending too much on re-recurrent expenditure. I can't actually match these.
Let's assume we have 20 million unemployed. Paying N5,000 to each person translates to N100bn every month and N1.2 trillion per annum.
Statisticians can help me out on the figures and compare it to the National Budget.
Instead, I believe this money can be invested on developmental project.

Politics / Re: APC Zoning Of SGF To SE Divides Igbos by XXCASH: 10:55am On May 01, 2015
ImperialYoruba:
Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC who are of Igbo origins are divided over who becomes the next secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, as the fight for the post has split them into three bitterly divided camps.

Under Nigeria’s complex zoning arrangement, the SGF has been zoned to the Igbo-speaking southeast geo-political zone and the race has begun to find a suitable candidate to fill the spot.

After several meeting held by the APC’s southeast caucus in Abuja it has been unable to reach an agreement on the nominees to be submitted for the positions of SGF and ministerial positions, Nigerian Newswatch can report.

Yesterday, the caucus met again at the Imo State governor’s lodge in Abuja at the instance of Governor Rochas Okorocha but the meeting ended in stalemate.

A party source at the meeting said they were unable to reach agreement because the three top contenders Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Chris Ngige and the current secretary to Imo State government, Professor Anthony Anwuka failed to yield ground for one another.

He added: “The leaders met to consider nominee for the post of the SGF which has been ceded to the zone. However, the meeting was divided on whether to forward one name or the three names but later resolved to send three names to the president-elect to decide whom to choose.”

Sometimes I just tire for my brothers in the southeast. This was the same way they were fighting themselves for Senate presidency.
How can anyone contest this position with Ogb Onu. The man is the most qualified and best fight for that position. I won't be surprised is Okorocha hand they this casala. That man wants to remain forever the political leader of southeast and thinks Onu won't dance to his tune

Politics / Re: Lagos Generates N2.433trn In Eight Years, Spends N2.7trn by XXCASH: 10:31am On May 01, 2015
zeekz:
Lagos—The administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State generated total revenue of N2.433 trillion through Federal allocation, Internally Generated Revenue, IGR and others in the last eight years.
1000-naira-notesIt also spent over N2.7 trillion in providing infrastructure and other economic needs for residents during the period under review.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ben Akabueze, who disclosed this yesterday, in Alausa, Ikeja at a briefing explained that the total revenue generated represents 89 percent of the total expenditure by the government.

According to him, “The total revenue generated by the administration is N2.433 trillion through Federal allocation, Internally Generated Revenue, IGR and others, representing 89 percent of the total expenditure by the government. The aggregate budgetary expenditure in the last eight years by the present administration is N2.749 trillion.”

He explained “What these translate to is that only 11 percent of the state’s expenditure has been funded from debt. Of course not all the revenue was generated through IGR. Only 59 percent (N1.4 trillion) of the budgetary expenditure was funded through IGR.”
“The government through the ministry in the last eight years certified 8, 961 projects/programmes valued at N1.132 trillion.”

Akabueze stated that the bulk of the projects were done last year, saying “the sum of N39.675 billion was issued as pre-payment certificates.”
The commissioner noted that the average budget performance over the period stood at 79 percent, adding, “the claim that the state is operating on loan is not true.”

According to him, “Average sectoral allocation of the budget from 2008 and 2015 are: General Service; 23.70 percent, Public Order and safety; 3.12 percent, Economic Affairs; 31.58 percent, Environmental protection; 8.56 percent, Housing and community amenities; 9.17 percent, Health; 7.66 percent, Recreation, culture and Religion; 1.5 percent, Education; 14.09 percent and Social protection; 0.60 percent.”
