It looks like the other site is slowly grinding to a halt. The moderator has been accused by members of behaving like
a bully. He demands and solicits money from members with menace. He threatens them with expulsion if they do not
post regulary. He sometimes closes his forum to non members and then later opens it up and this he does several
times in a week. The way he constantly changes his mind over any issue makes me think he has a mental problem.

Leave the rx as it is. U can live with the logo. Or if u most, go ahead and upgrade.

Thanks for the advice. I'll leave the box as it is otherwise it is my curiosity that was getting me all worked up for no good reason really. Curiosity killed the cat.

Ameboperoo: It depends on what u want.
@ Ameboperoo
I think we are going around in circles. In my inqury about the software to use (see about 4 posts above) I clearly
stated in ENGLISH (not vernacular) that I was anxious to remove MY TV logo of the the current version. I
thought and still think that I was clear "on what I want". This should be possible because I have seen other SRT
receivers booting with "STRONG -not just by name" logo.

Ameboperoo: Altho I'm not sure but I think ur receiver is d same with 4620xII which uses d same s/w as 4663x. It is an mpeg2 just like 63x and not hd. That soft ware also most likely has a mytv logo. To be sure u remote the logo, make sure u download Australian or Brazilian version from wizkid and not those 4 Africa. Hope u don't mind if d 6969 function disappears after upgrade?
So which software shud one use? Or shud I leave the receiver as it is?

I have a Strong receiver model SRT 4622 XII (PVR new black face) that I bought from a friend who was
upgrading to HD model. The software on it is 1.18p (Feb 18 2009) with CH Version shown as: MY TV SEP 2008.
The software info inside however shows: SRT 4663X and the box is made in Korea. It responds very well to
6969, 8282, 8280 etc.
My question is; can I upgrade it with the software known as: SRT4620XII_4661X_4664X_189p_20121125.zip
which I have already downloaded on my PC. I am anxious to remove the MY TV logo of the the current version.
Kindly please advise and let me know if there is a better SW version out there that I can download for this box.

@ llish:
My neighbour has bought himself a brand new SRT 4930. Even without a new firmware update, it is almost at par with my second hand supercharged SRT 4910 (S/W 240p 22-2-2011). The SRT 4930 came with the original S/W Version: 1.00 (Aug 2 2010).
My question to those with this model is this. When playing a media file (press F1) like WMV, XviD, AVI, VOB, DivX etc, how do you fast forward, rewind and pause? Or do these functions come with SW updates? The SRT 4930 can play HD 1080p in addition to 1080i. What is the 1080p for? I do not have this 1080p in my 4910 although mine boasts terrestrial digital receiver which the 4930 lacks. The SRT 4930 can however record 3 channels while watching a 4th channel or a recorded file at the same time.

I am from Lagos and I have bought a used Strong HD receiver model SRT 4910 from Alaba. Because I had read a lot from this forum, I asked the trader to make it as good as new in terms of software expecting him to go back to the original factory default settings. He instead suggested to instal the latest firmware i.e. version 240p dated 22-2-2011. Since I had not paid for it yet I accepted on condition that I test it to my satisfaction. I am happy to report that my new used 4910 is like a mini computer of sorts. Besides its own recordings (trp format), it can also play other files like DivX and Xvid etc. thru the USB port. The editing functions are fantastic. I can cut out undesired parts (like ads) from a recorded file and a lot of other functions. While playing a recorded file press info twice to see a text with details about the movie just like INFO on live SAT viewing. It also has HE-AAC sound codec. There are probably more new functions but for that I leave to the gurus to tell us more.
After reading about warnings not to upgrade anyhow, I was happy to have a risk free firmware upgrade and I hasten to add: I would still not load any new software in my receiver. Its better left to experts and dealers otherwise the consequences are too dear.
