Travel / Re: Importance Of Toefl Waiver Letter On Visa Decision by Yvete(f): 7:01pm On Jun 06, 2013
@ Pinkyz: Go for the interview without the TOEFL scorecard. If you speak coherently and intelligibly, you may find favor. You may try this -
V0: Did you write any standardized test?
You: I scheduled for TOEFL, but the school didn't need it. My WAEC or Neco was enough. I have a waiver letter (Show it to the VO). You should have written SAT though. Good luck!

Health / Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by Yvete(f): 6:36pm On Jun 06, 2013
Nice thread! I've been trying to lose 12 pounds in forever!! I started using protein shakes and it added a few pounds. I'm very active, workout 4 times weekly, but I've hit a plateau so I'd be trying kickboxing classes this Saturday. Hope it works!

imygirl: Has any1 heard of zulix herbal anD does it help to shed weight?

I tried Meizi Evolution to drop a few pounds. It works, but my throat was always dry so I stopped using it.
NYSC / Re: NYSC 2013 Batch C Corp Members House by Yvete(f): 5:52pm On Jun 06, 2013
Quick questions. I'm quite ignorant with this NYSC thing and the website doesn't say much about batch C or if there's a batch D. From the NYSC website-
Special Note:
Registration of foreign-trained graduates commences on 8th April and closes on 7th June 2013
Registration is not done by proxy. All prospective Corps Members must therefore appear physically at the Evaluation Division of the Corps mobilization Department for registration.

Please guys, when is the registration period for Batch C - Foreign trained graduates? This is clearly stated, but has anyone tried to register by proxy? What's the possibility of serving in the Abuja-Nassarawa area? (I'm scared)Thank you!!

Sassygurl: Seems like you know your stuff.

My FI told me ask about Jabi Lake, but he thinks its razz. Are you saying that outdoor weddings costs just as much as an indoor wedding? Do I buy or lease the chiavari chairs? What do you think about Ladi Kwali hall? What part of wedding planning to you cover? Thanks.

Just for clarification, It would not be a bad idea to have my friends wear Pink + Maroon while I wear Maroon jewelry? If I decide to wear a Maroon gele, will it be too matchy with my friends?

My TV is relatively new. I bought it in January, but unfortunately it doesn't come with netflix. I'll go get a cable at Bestbuy to see if the squeaky noise drops. I delivered your message to baby girl. smiley

Sassygal: Thanks. That bride looks beautiful and the pearls too.
Please ladies, don't get tired of my endless questions. My FI suggests that I forget the Maroon gele and stick with maroon beads instead while he wears the fullah hat with maroon as the primary color. He loves the gold color in pic 1 and 2. He's going to look like the guy in pic 2. Then we can use beads like this yoruba couple in Ivory (See picture 4).
I wanted a small wedding, but my mum is trying to razz things up with traditional dancers from her village and her meeting people with different colors. I didn't want the aso-ebi thing, but she insists so can the ladies wear maroon and pink or should I choose a different color entirely? Thank thanks thanks!! Plenty plenty!

Thanks for the quick response. The sound is coming from the TV. I called my younger brother to find out if it has always been like this and he said no. He uses the same cable with PS3 & his laptop too. My laptop didn't come with a cable. How do I know if my TV has in-built netflix?

Mamacita is not feeling too well. I thought you guys are aware. My bad! sad
Food / Re: Beans Lovers by Yvete(f): 3:49pm On Jun 04, 2013
Since I put myself on a high protein + fiber diet years back, beans has been my go-to food. I love moi-moi with little oil, dislike akara, dislike yam in my beans undecided I eat it almost everyday. My mum claims beans upsets her stomach so she never ate it. It doesn't bother my belly at all.

Guys, I need help. When I connect my hdmi cable to my HP laptop, it makes a squeaky sound every 3-4 minutes or so that distracts me from the movie. Soo soo annoying! I pulled the cable off my samsung surround sound system, is it too strong for my laptop or my laptop is too weak for my TV? Do I need to change to a HP cable?

@ Uncle-Nice : I watched House of Cards throughout yesterday. Its a neflix series. Check it out.
Travel / Re: Mexico Or Nigeria Pls Advice by Yvete(f): 3:40pm On Jun 04, 2013
@ OP
Good thing you changed your mind. Mexico ain't really all that. The Nigerians I've met over there are either schooling or looking for a way to migrate to the US (it's harder to get a US visa in Mexico than in Nigeria). I went to language school over there so I didn't need a job. The only way to settle in is to marry a Mexican, what's the point? I'd rather marry an American / British guy than sit in Mexico with a Mexican black passaporte grin . Invest the money in Nigeria or migrate to Europe or Canada if you find better opportunities there. For future purposes, if you're going to migrate to any country to hustle or for non-academic purposes, get skilled before travelling. Mechanic, tailor, carpenter, cell phone repair, ...whatever or you'll be useless. Good luck!

Rocktation: W
- WINE AND GOLD
- WINE AND PEACH
- WINE AND SILVER
- WINE AND OLIVE GREEN
- WINE AND PINK

Thanks Rocktation. You've been so helpful. I'll stick with coral beads. I used this color palette to match colors, but worry that Maroon gele with gold lace may be too popping! Carton-colored lace may be too dull for my skin too (see picture 1). Looking at the collage above, what color works best - Gold, Ivory or Carton-color? Yellow is a great match, but too loud for me. My skin tone is like the last girl in the pic above (pic 6). Thanks.
Events / Re: Abuja Wedding Venue Asap by Yvete(f): 9:47pm On Jun 03, 2013
I need recommendations for a wedding hall in Abuja. I want something tastefully done where I can have chiavari chairs and exquisite lighting. I'd like a lush green garden outside. I'm looking at the following
Intl Conference Centre,
Ladi Kwali hall,
NAOWA centre,
Family Worship Centre Multipurpose hall,
Shabak center
Protea Hotel Hall
For Outdoors: with marquee
Jabi Lake park ... Is it rachet or razz?
Julius Berger Shooting range
Julius Berger Club House
If you're a wedding planner or may have attended a wedding in a good venue, please help cool

Wow! Seems like choosing a color is just as hard as finding the perfect wedding dress smiley

I need help with color combination. My fave color is Cranberry/wine/burgundy/maroon. It looks good on me, but I don't know about my fair-skined FI. He wants to wear the Hausa-styled 'fullah' hat. Is it better to match the burgundy hat with mine or he can wear a cardboard colored hat with burgundy dots on it? I love pearls. Can I wear pearls on African clothing or coral beads are better? Thank you!

Witch hazel is incredibly good for eczema. Google it!

I used to spend a lot of money on beauty/skin care products until late last year. I realized that one product can do the magic. I use witch hazel with cotton buds as a toner/acne cure/..just anything. My face is smooth as a baby's butt! grin kiss

Travel / Re: Mexico Or Nigeria Pls Advice by Yvete(f): 3:18am On Jun 03, 2013
I think there's a Mexico enquiries thread already.
Anyways, weigh your options properly. The only thing I see Nigerians do in Mexico is teach english for about 60 - 70 pesos (6 USD).

If you want to mingle with Nigerians, consider moving to Cuernavaca or D.F. It's affordable and ITESM is a great school too (recognized in the US). A friend of mine went to school there and she currently works at the Mexican Embassy in Abuja. Good school!

Family / Re: Victims Of "You Must Get Pregnant For Me Or No Marriage" by Yvete(f): 8:42pm On Jun 01, 2013
Life is funny! Wherever the pendulum swings ... some people stay happy with babies before marriage.

My closest friend is a single mother with a disabled 7 year old daughter. She got pregnant right after her engagement and decided to call off the wedding until the baby is born. As God let it, her daughter was born physically disabled. She cannot talk, walk, sit, feed herself ... Her only form of communication is to scream and cry even at 7. So sad!

The guy claims a doctor informed them about the disability, but my friend refused to abort the baby so he's not interested. Sometimes I wonder, what if the girl was born after they wedded? Would the situation be tolerable? Should she have aborted the baby to maintain happiness in their relationship? Life is crazy!
