@kolaism This is a gyn thread but I don't think that particular remedy will work @tng The time for regular menses to start differs. It is especially complicated if you are breastfeeding. |

@rukyus There are changes to the vaginal ph at different times in the menstrual cycle. It should not affect her ability to get pregnant @ankeade Sorry to hear of your loss. It depends on the size of the fibroid. Do you know how large it is and where it is located? |

@9hmo Sounds like everything is normal. She should continue to take her vitamins. As for penetration, some women are very sensitive during pregnancy so you will have to be attuned to what she is feeling @tng yes. hang in there |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 1:44am On Dec 12, 2009 |
@susanamand It shouldn't affect your ability to get pregnant. I would suggest you discuss your feelings with your partner. I also think you might have a urinary tract infection. The touching might have something to do with it. I would suggest you go see your doctor @aniody Breastfeeding uses a lot of calories, 500 a day. Just try to increase your food intake |

@ ufobabe, pls from all u've said one can safely say that your friend has an advanced case of syphilis. I can't be too sure but i think she should test for the presence of the syphilis bacteria cos if these symptoms have persisted for ten yrs as u claim and if it turns out to be syphilis, then ur friend may be facing seriouse health danger including insanity, cervical cancer and multiple organ failure. Pls all the best to ur friend. |

Dr Kathy, Good day , long time i asked a question almost 2yrs ago on page 2 of the thread about hormonal imbalance leading to irregular period and uterine bleeding that wont stop unless i use Primolut , your advise was to loose some weight which worked miracle after 6wks of 5kg less. Due to work and school am unable to continue with the regular exercise thereby been on and off regular periods, my question now is 1. am about to get married , do i tell my fiance about my hormonal profile issue or i should just go ahead and sort it out with a gyn on my own. 2. Apart from the CLOMID stuffs, what other stuffs like vitamins does one need to take cos i really want to start a family first quarter of 2010. have waited so long for this. Thanks, await your response. |

@ammamat Are you fully aroused when having sexe? @lady jay Your prolactin level is borderline and this can affect ovulation but is easily treated. Sometimes, it is related to medication or a tumor. Your doctor will go into more details with you. As for the progesterone, what day of your cycle did you get the bloodwork? |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 2:45am On Dec 19, 2009 |
@dhotseal there is no correlation between cervical cancer, multiorgan failure and syphillis. You are misinformed and should refrain from giving advice with such a poor fund of knowledge @acl Congrats on the wedding but you also know the answer already. It isn't something you have to discuss, it is something you have to act on. No excuses |

@lolladey What are pregnancy pills? @Whitechick Staph, once again, is normally a contaminant rather than an infection. I don't know any doctors in rivers or lagos. Ask your friends and stay away from anybody who claims to be treating you for staph in a vaginal culture |

Hello Doctor, It has been long that I have contributed neither asked question(s) on nairaland(health section). It's all because am really depressed. Concerning your question that how big is the fibroid, let me quote what the sonologist gave me. "The Uterus is enlared measuring 14.8 x 8.34 x 10.2cm with a single fibroid measuring 8.08 x 5.82 x 8.47cm. The fibroid intramurally in the posterior aspect of the uterus extending into the endometral cavity. the , are free. There is no fluid collection in the posterior cal-de-sac. Large single intranura.submucosal fibroid." I am having a severe pain. Now to my question. Sir, I just got married three months and four days ago. What is your advise if I were to be your blood sister because people even including Nurses have been advising me to go locally (using of concotions) rather going for the operation. They said if one should undergo the operation, that it is difficult for the woman to become pregnant again. PLEASE, I NEED A QUICK REPLY TO THIS. |

i am shedding tears as i write this. it's almost 2 yrs of marriage and no child yet, if u could remember a lady that requested ur help in helping her calculate her ovulation which u did and got pregnant last year october. on the 21st of february, i noticed a terible back pain and went to the clinic, anyway it was my fault that i went to a quack for antenatal. i lost the pregnancy after 3 day of admission with them, the membrane ruptured and the baby was still too young to survive coupled with the fact that they took me to 3 different hospital thinking that there could be a help to make the baby survive but all to no avail until we got to the 4th clinic where they ahd to induce me. i never got pregnant again until july when i realised that i missed my period which later showed up but was just some spotting which was dark in colour and then it stopped again, i did a pregancy test which was positive even as i was still spotting, i was asked to go for a scan when the scan revealed that there was a sac in the uterus area but no fetall pole was found at 5wks 3day, i was asked to come back in 2wks after but unfortunately ,the spotting continued to a heavy bleeding and when i did another pregnancy test, it was negative and the doctor said it has aborted naturally that i did not need to do a D&C.finally i noticed a very thick tissue come out and and was the end of the bleeding. after that, i went for another scan and eveything was cleared, no remains was left, i went ahead to drink chelsea london dry gin thinking it will clear every other thing left. after that a friend said i should follow her to an Ijaw woman that can clean the womb and set the womb well to be able to carry a healthy pregnancy. i did follow her and the woman asked me to bring ROBB, ALIGATOR PEPPER and COTTON WOOL which she grinded together and used the wool to insert it into me. this was a week after the second miscarriage, since the 1st period after the miscarriage was not my normal period cos, it was delayed and i thought i was pregnant and then later after 3 days after, it started flowing and then getting heavier and it lasted for about 9days which was very abnormal coz my nor mal period last 4 days and its a regular 28days cycle but after everything i did, it has changed to about 32 to 33 days cycle and the will last for about 8 to 9 days now. now the way i do my period is, see it for 1 min on day 1 of 33 days cycle, it will stop for the rest of that day. it will come for abot 20 mins and stop again, then return the 3rd day and stay up to 7 or more days with a heavy flow. PLEASE DO U THINK THIS IS NORMAL? I CAN'T EVEN CALCULATE MY OVULATION TIME ANYMORE, EACH TIME I THINK I AM OVULATING, I BLEED IN BETWEEN FOR SOME MINUTES. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF PREGNANCY TEST THING IT MIGHT BE PREGNACY BUT ALL NEGATIVE. I FEEL NAUSEOUS AND VOMIT THAT BITTER YELLOW SUBSTANCE BUT DOCTOR SAID IT MIGHT BE MALARIA. I AM FED UP, PLEASE HELP ME. I AM SO DESPERATE THAT I FEEL LIKE SEEING U AND TELLING U MY MIND ONE ON ONE. NOW THE SPOTTING IS A USUAL THING THAT HAPPENS TO ME ANYTIME. I HAVE BEEN TREATED WITH CLOMID WHICH DID NOT WORK, THEN TRIED THE PREGNYL INJECTION AFTER A FOLLICULAR SCAN AND STILL DID NOT WORK, NOW I HAVE USED CLOMID AGAIN FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER BUT I AN YET TO KNOW IF IT WILL WORK OR NOT COZ THE LAST PERIOD WAS ON THE 6TH BUT THE FIRST SPOTTING WAS ON THE 4TH, SHOULD I TAKE THE 4TH FOR THE FIRST DAY OF MY PERIOD I AM STILL WAITING, PLEASE WHAT CAN BE THE CAUSE OF ALL THESE? WHAT CAN U DO TO HELP ME PLEASE, I BEG U IN THE NAME OF GOD. PLEASE HELP ME |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 7:21am On Dec 25, 2009 |
@ammamat The reason for the pain is likely due to your lack of arousal so your partner is hitting your cervix which is the opening to the womb. This causes pain. As for your lack of desire, do you have regular periods? @ankeade Sorry to hear this. The problem with this fibroid is the fact that it is affecting the cavity. Here are your choices, myomectomy surgery to remove the fibroid, using a drug like depo lupron to try to shrink it ( drawback would mean you wouldn't be able to get pregnant for at least a year and it may not work) or going ahead, getting pregnant and seeing what happens. the fibroid shouldn't prevent you from getting pregnant but you would probably have a higher risk of preterm labor or the fibroid breaking down and causing pain. |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 7:31am On Dec 25, 2009 |
@moduperola So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to prevent this. Miscarriages occur in 25% of all known pregnancies but blighted ovum is in a different category. Hang in there friend and let me know how it goes @olabola I am saddened but angry. You seem to have the resources to know better. You call your doctors quacks but go to someone who sticks robb and alligator pepper in your vagina to clean out the womb? Now that is out of the way, how far along were you with the first pregnancy? How old are you? Have you ever had any D&C or procedures on your cervix? |

Hello Doctor, Thanks for the advice. Am very grateful sir. Please, I don't really understand the "drawback". Concerning the drug that you prescribed, can I get it in Nigeria? Am also facing a big problem. (BLEEDING). As I told you earlier that I bleeded for almost 7days early this month and to my greatest suprise, my husband and I had sex on the 26th and after that I started bleeding again. Really, I want to assume that it's my period but the bleeding is very heavy. Please doctor K, what can you say to that and wat can you prescribe for me. So many people even matrons have been advising me not to undergo an operation and I also, I don't want to because my marriage is just 3months and two weeks old. They said the tendency of getting pregnant early is very low. I prefer to undergo an operation if I want to get my baby. But if the drug that you will prescirbe will shrink it, then I think there is no problem. Doctor, please, help me out. Infact, I do cry whenever am alone and I think a lot concerning both the miscarriage and the fibroid of a thing. Thanks so much for the advise and please, can you send me your email address. This is mine:ti2_awo@yahoo.com. |
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by ankeade: 10:20am On Dec 28, 2009 |
Sorry doctor, I forgot to add this to it. "drawback would mean you wouldn't be able to get pregnant for at least a year and it may not work". What is the meaning of that? Is it that if I should use the drug, it will not work or what? Also, you said the fibroid is affecting my "cavity". Please, where is the cavity located because the sonologist told me that the fibroid is located very close to my womb. As am sending a reply tp this trend, am seriously BLEEDING. Please, kindly help me out. Thanks |
