Ksudr: Great medics, pls i was shortlisted for addax/nnpc scholarship text for 2014. Pls wat do i need to knw, learn and revise. Need ur help
Back then in 2011, it was just English and the usual aptitude tests. It was paper-based (shading) and organised by WAEC. The time was very short and only a few people finished. We were given N5000 each for transport. I wrote mine in Abj and the 5k was more than my to and fro t/fare. Only 92 people were awarded the scholarship that year and I don't know whether the number has been increasing or decreasing. For preparation, just go through GRECAT or any other job test material a bit. I didn't read anything as I don't think there's really need to prepare for UG scholarship exams. In the hall, be aware of your time (it won't be enough) and carefully pick each answer (you won't have time to go back). Leave any time-wasting question, and when they tell you your time is almost up answer every unanswered questions without reading them (there is no negative marking). Don't talk much when you come out, the results will decide who did a good job in the hall.

What I know is that some state govts pay some sort of bond with the condition that the student will work for his state govt on graduation for a few years ranging from 2 to 5 years. This is optional and you can decline. Here in the north, the govts were not really enforcing the condition but now things have changed. I've heard of doctors having to return all the money because they got opportunities outside their states which they couldn't resist. For some of us, ordinary N4000 general annual students' bursary from our govt na war.

TONYE001:

Thanks, brother, for encouraging me.

I wish you the very best Sir. It's possible, it's achievable. Go for it, put in your very best. As I always urge students, study because you SHOULD study and not because of an event (interview, exam, etc). If we make reading a habit, success would be an everyday tale!

I had the same plan too. In my time, a CGPA of 4.0/5.0 was the requirement to switch to MBBS/Dentistry at the end of thr 100 Level, I didn't make it. I shifted to Plan B which was making a 2-1 and then transfering to MBBS/Dentistry (to begin from Year 3 if it's the same school). When we got to Year 2, Uniport had an issue with their MBBS program (overpopulation). This almost cost them their accreditation. Consequently, they shut down all transfer options to MBBS (I think they didn't accept JAMB MBBS applicants too).

I graduated with a 2-1; as God would have it, I was the 6th in a class of 140-150. Presently, I'm rounding up my Youth Service (would be done by October)...and I still have some MBBS possibilities on my table.

Again, success to you and every other person in your shoes. We shall hear your testimonies..

... smiley
my brother it was painful to us in anatomy then. We were promised switching over, but when we got to year 3 that problem surfaced, and after seriously protesting, we were not allowed to switch. So I graduated and went for service in 2011. In 2012 shortly after my service I applied for MSc in Benin, but in October my fire for MBBS ignited and I took a jamb form for 2013/2014. I scored 293 in jamb only to disappoint myself with 59 in post ume. I thanked God, smiled to myself and decided to move on. then waited for November to be among the first set of people to buy 2014/2015 jamb form, this time around I opted for Ebonyi state university Abakaliki. But in this year jamb, I scored 237 and felt I disappointed myself a bit, but I moved on and prepared for their post ume where I scored 279 and was admitted on merit to study MBBS. I wasn't filled with emotions when I saw it but I had this feeling of satisfaction that my patience payer off.

write another JAMB. Only possible if ur dad or close relative is a top official aside that, a g.p of 5.0 won't release u into med.

Lolz. We probably lived in the same hostel at the same time.

I may not know all those names... I wasn't very social. The only thing, outside studies, that I got myself involved in was the Red Cross..

I was at the third floor, wing A. Room 307. I was the Wing Captain my last year there.

They used to call me the Human Eye because of a poem I wrote and pasted at the hostel while in Basic.

Some names at my wing: Ugo, Daniel, Emmanuel, Collins, Amaechi, Wisdom, AJ (politician.. SUG's Director of Transport when I been dey Basic)..
