It's not bad thing for anyone to preach in a bus whether muslim or christian, the bottom line is! do your preaching and allow people to accept or reject the word. it's only God that will judge. I don't buy the idea of people cursing other people's religion in the name of preaching b/cos that's what causes religious riot and mayhem. it's high time our people become wise to issues like this. |

i only want to share my own experience and not to join the train of your arguments. sometimes last week i board a bus to obanlende where a young man was preaching when he finished another man stood up to sell his powder that will bring more customer for your business but to my greatest surprise he was the first person to request for the powder.so, what do we call that? does it mean that he does not belief in what he preaches or he he's been frustrated. |

I ve met of couple of Iman preaching in the buses. In fact one impressed me so much with his preaching that I had to go and make him my friend. He was able to integrate both Christian and Moslem teachings. He exposed the points of agreement. So man, we got not only Christian preachers, but also Muslim preachers. |

@smallwrold: are you kidding me? To the rest especially muslim or islam whatever you call the diff: You guys should really stop trying to fight or make trouble with christians at all cost. If you start shouting and preaching that Jesus is a thief, I promise you no christian will fight you not to talk of killing you! for the most they might try to correct you! but for you guys, if a christian mistaking speel Mumuhammed wrongly, you guys will pick your bow and arrow and ofcox cups to drink blood! Pls leave christians alone! you have your own believe so do they. And for your info. I lived in the North for 12yrs, lived in Dubai for some months (life 4 a christian is easier there than northern Nigeria) I have an English Koran so don't even tell me some bullcrap that I already know! You guys are simply Confused. What would this world be with you guys as majority? |

when dan brown came out with davinci code a book that contradicts everything we christians believe in it was lightly brushed and no issue even arose from it, but a primary school teacher was incarcerated just because her pupils named a teddy bear muhammed and somebody is telling me islam is a tolerant religion. nonsense. Any christian that wants to preach in d bus should go ahead probably the muslims know that their belief is faulty and that is why they are no quick to preach in public places like the bus. [sub][/sub] nonsense! |

smallworld, your remember the story of a man that probably didnt fit the picture of a xtian, but check a story I have been told as well. A man was preaching in a bus. Amongst the passengers was a nursing mother and a mallam. when he was preaching the mallam xpressed his displeasure and he was shouted and hushed down by other passengers so he kept quiet. After a while he said he was coming down from the vehicle. As he did he brushed on the baby who was being breast fed. " Note the mother was one of those that shouted on him the most". After the bus had continued moving for a few minutes, the mother noticed her baby wasnt sucking any more. initially she was thought the baby was sleeping then she noticed the baby wasnt breathing either, that was when she screamed. In the midst of the hola baloo that ensued, the preacher took the baby from the wailing mother and started praying in a loud voice. naturally everyone joined in the prayer with choruses of amen here and there. after about 1hr of praying people started giving up and the mother's wailing was even louder. after a while the pastor stopped praying but he still held on to the baby, then he started cryin softly, as the first set of tears dropped from his face, another passenger noticed tears coming out from the baby's eyes as well, then suddenly the baby gave a beautiful wail, i guess u know the rest of the story, |

There is freedom of speech.so if you learn to tolreate people then you wont have problems with preachers in commercial buses or muslims call to prayer and sound from speakers during church services |

deols: deols: these word are too harsh and are coming from someone who has a lot of anger in his heart! I sincerely believe they are too harsh and not fair! @everyone JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY; TRUTH AND LIFE NO ONE CAN SEE THE FATHER EXCEPT BY HIM!!! NO MATTER HOW MORAL WE MAY SEEM; WE ARE NOTHING WITHOUT JESUS YOUR BELIEVING IT OR NOT DOESNT CHANGE THE FACT THAT ITS TRUE. I'm not against Muslims, Atheist, Buddist or Native doctor I'm only against what you do becos God doesnt like those things too. I believe I have made my point clear in earlier replies and dont want to repeat myself But will say this and zoom off: we shouldnt be fighting over who's right and who's wrong that's what satan wants: a thread that starts with genuine intentions and ends with quarrels and fightings Preaching in a bus is not wrong. Any and everyone should preach, I dont have a problem with that! We should also be aware that not everyone that calls himself a christian is actually one! This claim can also be attributed to Muslims as some pple hide behind Islam to do evil that Islam itself condemns! Lets not fight over nothing and loose a great deal! I dont care about winning or lossing arguments; you all can win for all I care! I only stand for the truth and dat alone! On the last day we will see who is right or wrong. I pray it wont be too late for some then. Amen. |

viceb: true talk because i've witnessed such too. I think those sects are called "Chrislams". They profess to practise the two religions. I was surprised when the Iman preacher in the bus distributed some tracts to fellow passengers and donations were made. |

I usually feel sad when Christians feel bad for going through hard times in the hands of Muslims and the likes My Bible makes me know that I should be full of Joy when I suffer for Jesus' sake. Then why am I seeing so many replies from christians condemning such sufferings? All we should pray for is dat God gives us (Christians) the grace to be joyful and to continue doing good despite all persecutions; and the ability to love those that are wicked to us and call us all sort of names. If truly we are christians as some profess in this thread; then we wont be throwing stones and harsh words as we so see ourselves do. A word is enough for the wise!!! |

Dear Muslims, U need not reply to their provocations. They will always wanna provoke you into something rash. A verse says their religion is theirs and ours is ours. let them continue to say, u needn't bother cos islam is the only way. |

Hoping not to sway from the topic,I am a 100% supporter of preaching in the buses .The religious background here (of the preacher ) is unnecessary Nigerians are so materialistic, always chasing about our daily bread that WE HARDLY HAVE TIME TO PRAY.If someone did that on our behalfs in the bus,I dont see anything wrong with that! . Though I am yet to encounter any religious targeted attack by a christian preacher.I also want to deposit here that everyone is entitled to his own religious point of view, entited to his own opinion.Athough the law would say (i think so)that"ur freedom terminates when it infringes on another man's freedom". Lastly ,i feel the original poster of the thread is very selfish and biased.Reason because of the "fallacious" and "purported" antireligious preaching by the christian preacher. The authenticity of his claim cannot be verified. I think he is trying to "cry wolf where there is none" and trying "to create a mountain out of a mole hill" Maybe you should get yourself a car,if boarding a commercial bus is flaming anger within you In conclusion ,every religion has its own peculiar shortcoming.I read someone write about the noisy 5.30 am call to prayer at the mosque. The Churches respond by mounting loud speakers at the entrance of their auditorium, with tlhe belief that this could help extend their sermon to the immediate vicinity. |
Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by 2dye4(m): 4:44pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
faith cometh by hearing, so yes people should talk about God's love and salvation (even in buses), sadly we christains usually talk but do not act out what we say (even as clearly displayed on this forum). the good thing is that we all stand alone @ the end, every man 4 himself. |
Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by DisGuy: 5:04pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
2dye4: see how logical that sounds to you? even in buses? you dont care if the people want to listen or not you don't care if they are Christians or not think about it this doesn't happen in other Christian countries why do you force it on people? |

Hi nairalanders, I believe this is a forum for adults (correct me if im wrong). It is not an avenue to trade insult neither is it meant to castigate anyone's religion. |
Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by 2dye4(m): 5:56pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
Dis Guy: @Dis-guy:it would be hard to talk about logic in a country were every situation defies logic and sound reasoning! if there were laid down rules condemnin this act then its a different story. in all fairness, most of these preachers that i have encountered lack the decorum to careful pass across their message and move on, instead they choose to shout, make irrelevant analogies and i dont know whats up with the offering they collect. but as mentioned earlier, the same society that allows pple to sell pregnancy pills, cheap and un-innovative guides, pesticides in buses also gives a free hand on this, so not much can be said. |

Christianity and Islam are much more similar than they are different. I abhor people who preach on buses, because it disturbs my peace. I don’t care what religion it is they happen to be preaching about. I and other commuters need to have our peace respected. I do not board a bus to be disturbed by someone who thinks he or she has the perfect ideology about God or whatever. All these religions we are arguing about aren’t things we invented. We were born into a world with religions and after we are dead religions would remain. Religion is just another human institution that would come and go. Let’s learn to love and live in peace. That’s what’s important. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Ifa, Hinduism… are all ideas and concepts based on ideological philosophies. None of them was revealed by a deity. If you study them closely you will find out they have a lot in common. So live in peace and love your neighbour. Be good today and forever. |
Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by grafikdon: 6:53pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
I don't have a big problem with the bus preachers but I think it is irrational to hop in a bus and start spewing something that people don't want to be bothered with. The worst part is they expect you to shut the hell up while they spray their saliva all over the bus and it would be a grave blasphemy the interrupt the 'spraying' of the 'word of God'. Unfortunately, the word of God will continue until you get to your destination. You either shut up, get your face drenched in saliva and inhale the putrid stench of beans breath or carry on with your conversion. |

I am a born again christian but most of the times, when you just want to travel in peace and quiet, the preaching disturbs. Note please, I am a christian and I love God. Sometimes sef, the english of the preachers is killing! some of them sure know how to murder english, some even spit on you in the process. Well, freedom of speech and expression. |

Well it doesnt only happen in Nigeria Come to the subway stations here in NY and you'll see all sorts of ridiculous people. If it's not breakdancers nearly falling into your lap, it's a bunch of people screaming abi preaching in your ear until the next stop. Luckily it's only in NYC subways you see such nonsense so I only have to suffer through them when Im in the city during the weekend then I get to escape when I get on the DECENT Upper NY trains going home. Such annoyances arent allowed on Metro-North trains, we thank God. I also give thanks for headphones. |

Dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Dieeeeeeeeeee!!!!" Dis Guy: Neither does the endless Muslim call for prayers. can't they just get wristwatches and find their way to prayer when it's time? Why must we also endure someone screaming at the top of his lungs on a peaceful armed-robber-free morning? it's called tolerance,if you don't like the preaching step down, you are not held at gun point |
Re: Preaching In Commercial Buses: by ayettymama(f): 7:53pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
I agree this is the largest piece of crap i have ever heard!!!!!!!!! What about when non muslims are forced to follow sharia laws and dress like muslims. Patient and tolerant my backside are you not the ones stoning people cos they are seen walking beside the oppsite sex!!!!!!!!! are you not the ones blowing up buildings and chopping peoples arms and legs cos of land!!!!!!!!! How many non muslims countries/areas have problems as much as those? even in london muslims stand outside the malls and preach thier religion and ways of terrorisM!!! encouraging young males to wreak havoc and you have the audacity to come on this site and complain about gentle preachers preaching about the kingdom of God instead of voilence and terrorism!!!!!!!!!! even if your not a christan you should appreciate that we dont condone voilence and killing while islam does!!!! Im not mashing anybody's religion but we should be complaining not you, if you were a christian i will say God punish you, but your a muslim your mosque's wakes us at 5 in the morning in lagos with your magaphone noise and in that country no one can complain! You tamba right outside peoples houses so thier gutters stink right after your prayers, you pour emu inside your kettles and use prayers as an escuse to go and ifaaji! you discourage women from having good sex lives and careers thereby most of your women are weak, dependant and unhappy i could go on for years but i have work to do! My advice to you, LIVE WITH IT!!!!!! |
