I just drove through Ikeja to Maryland and with all the street lights, sidewalks and functioning traffic lights, I doubt any of these states run by these other Governors have been able to have such a profound effect on such a large scale. Thumbs-up Fashola.

My Submission is based on the following:
(1)Governance relates to consistent management, cohesive policies, guidance, processes and decision-rights for a given area of responsibility.
(2)Governance occurs in three broad ways:

(a)Through networks involving public-private partnerships (PPP) or with the collaboration of community organisations;
(b)Through the use of market mechanisms whereby market principles of competition serve to allocate resources while operating under government regulation;
(c)Through top-down methods that primarily involve governments and the state bureaucracy.
(3)According to the UN, good governance has eight characteristics.Good governance is:

Consensus Oriented (An opinion or position reached by a group as a whole)
Participatory (the broad participation of constituents in the direction and operation of political systems)
following the Rule of Law (citizens can expect to be treated fairly by a justified government. )
Effective and Efficient (Effective: Adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result. Efficient: Performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort.
Accountable (the obligation of an individual or organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results)
Transparent (the concept of removing all barriers to —and the facilitating of— free and easy public access to corporate information and the laws, rules, social connivance and processes that facilitate and protect those individuals and corporations that freely join, develop, and improve the process
Responsive(Readily reacting to suggestions, influences, appeals, or efforts)
Equitable and Inclusive(Must recognise diversity and difference. Must accommodate differing meanings of citizenship that cut across gender, political, cultural, and social lines)

From the foregoing and relying on information provided by each government on their websites as i am not on ground in all the states, the winner on average of scores is the government of Lagos State.

Areas in which Lagos state government are strong include Effective and Efficient (A lot of wastage reduced and some parastatals are profit making. Govt is lean as lagos has the least number of commisioners and special advisers and assitants in the whole of Nigeria....less than 50. Ondo has 243; Imo has an incredible amount)

Othere areas of strength: Accountable and Transparent (If you are accountable, you are already on a high % of transparency) Lagos publishes the amount that each agency makes on a quarterly basis and also publishes its budget so you know where money earned is going to)

Other areas of strength:Participatory Equitable and Inclusive: Every 100days since 2007, lagos state govt has rendered report to the citizens at town hall meetings; taken questions; explained policies etc.

One major thing also noticed about Lagos state is instead of hearing promises; promised; promises, we hear delivered; completed etc and Lagos relies heavily on statistical data that can be verified.

Thank you

The fact that people are being asked to chose from a group of best performing governors, and making varied choices must mean that something good is happening in Nigeria.

If this was five years ago.....the title would have been "is there any good governor anywhere in Nigeria ?".

Its good to take stock of even the smallest steps forward.

Bravo!

alkadriyar: The next generation will not forgive Okorocha for his present policies in imo state if he doesn't adjust now. Okorocha is turning Imo state to consumer oriented state rather than producer oriented depending solely on federal allocation. Racall that he has made education at all levels more than even free for imolites, by paying huge allowances to all students. He is also payiing higher than the national miniumum wage to civil servants. Okorocha gives free 10 liter of fuel 2 some keke napep users everyday, okorocha exempted some so called investors from tax, among other. Imolites are happy with these developments. But i must tell u that okorocha is seriously killiing imo economy, because he has blocked the way for direct techical skill aquisition (vocational skills) which is one of the keys to economic devoloment. He has lured imolites away from thier potentials of creativity since most youths who had potentials of vocational skill aquisition are now pushing their minds towards the conventional schools just for tokens. Am assuring u dat by the time most of these youths will gradute Okorocha will not be there to employ them as he is seriously aspiring to be in aso rock.
Oshiomole is a true democrat and lover of his people. Who always listen to the voice of the commons. But he is the kind who says yes to whatever the people say. But that is not what we need in this present Nigeria.
As for mimiko he's a good governor and okey.
Fashola on the other side, is creative and innovative. He understands nigerians. He knows that nigerians needs coession force or let me say the "carrot and stick" approach before they can obey simple instructions. He knows nigerian democracy should somtime be like jungle democracy where the leader should somtimes be radical. And thats what we need in this presents nigeria. Am not campaigning for Fashola, but If he's to become the president of Nigeria 2day, am sure he can transform dis country for good with his radical policies. Thumbs up for Babatunde Raji Fashola.
For those who believe in God, no explanation is neccessary, and for those who do not belive in God, no explanation is Possible.

You already hv 20 likes from maybe people that do not hv the facts like you.
Am not from imo state but do follow all the developments dat hv happened in okorochas office.NTA international showed the world a live coverage of okorocha 2013 budget presentation to the house.
You hv to admire what he has achieved in 1yr.Even the house members could not say a word as they watch on a projector-projects going and completed ones.
You said imolites will regret okorocha being their governor and dat he is kill the future of imolites children.Maybe its because he is doing what most governors can do but they choose to pack the money for their personal use.He submited his 4billion security votes for the free education to continue.
From the budget which i watched thanks to improvement in power supply,His 2013 budget is to complete all the ongoing project.
You said there is no skill aquisitn centre,He built a world class school of professional studies within 6months in office.
Finally,I pray the our country remain 2gether and i promise you that by the time okorocha's 2 tenures will be over at Imo states,Nigerians will ask and beg him to contest for president.
May God bless Nigeria

Long live Anambra
Long live Southeast
Long live Nigeria
