@Choose4me

Sorry for this late reply, I just got home since morning. It was so hectic today. Well let me try to answer your question

After I read through your post I found out that you have three (3) options and you need to go for the all the options.

The first one is about the University 1 at the University of Manitoba Winnipeg applying for the foundation programme which is what we call Pre degree in Nigeria. Which I think you dont need considering your age.

The second option is about you applying as a Diploma student at the Grand Praire Regional College, Ontario. By getting your grade transfer frvom your current school to the school in Canada
.

Now let me tell you why I am recommending this for you.

1. I can see that you 23 years, finished your secondary school in the year 2003 , and you just got admission for a part time programme owing to the fact that you are in first year of study.

N.B Well you have to tell the Canadian Visa Officer what you have been doing since 2003 during your study permit application. Well, I think you just have to firgure out a cogent point to explain the gap in your study history, cos you will not want to tell them that it is because of your inability to pass the Nigerian University Entrance Examination (UME). If I may ask what actually have you been doing since 2003?

N.B If you can really answer this question I just ask you now very intelligently and you have proof document to show for it, then I will suggest that you should consider going to any Canadian University directly as a first year student, and this is the third option

Anyway the three option is worth trying, So go do it mehn

@Choose4me

Yea, you can apply for a pre degree programme. There is one I personally know about that it is called University 1 at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. You can check this web site for more info www.umanitoba.ca.

Also try to Google for more schools in Canada that does  Pre- foundation degree programmes, check this website www.aucc.ca  for the list of colleges and Universities in Canada.

Well, if I may ask  do you just graduated from a secondary school here in Nigeria or you are in a University already? Please answer so I can know how best I can be of help to you.

But in all just be happy, cos it is very possible to go to Canada  for a Pre- foundation programmes

@ Biometrix

Good to hear your story, but please don't let anybody's  behavior , black or White, to bring your moral down, just enjoy your time in Canada. We  all here are coming  very soon.

@Marcleo

Just keep the feeling aglow, cos soon you will be there. Do you believe?

@!All

Please bear with me I am still compling the lists of all the documents I used for my  application.

@charlie,when are you going to post the documents you used in getting your visa.thanks

I want to specially thank the founder of this thread in person of LEO, whose initiative bring about the starting of this great Thread. Also my gratitude goes to all the pioneers of this great thread whose posts were really a source of information for me, people like Delta, Hotsteppers, Debosky, Ezinwanne, Ogbogolo, Adywale, and many others whose posts on this thread make my dream of going to Canada be a reality. Also I will need to mention the names of my senior friends on this thread, Bobobabe 2010dreamkid (99dreamkid) and Rare, ( all are In Alberta currently ) whose success was a source of courage , hope, inspiration to me during my VISA application. My special friends on this thread, Lanreade, Harryman, Tosinosho, Marcar, Benon and many others that will all started this journey together here on this thread which names I can’t pick up for now. Lastly I greatly appreciate the posting of you guys, those asking for help and those that are giving out the answers, you guys are great!

I want to specially Thank God for making my Visa application successful. He is the only green light in my application. So I advice you that you should put all your hopes in God. He that do it for me will definitely do it for you.

I think this need to be on records that I read ten times and saved all the posts in my system, referring to them from time to time during my Visa application ,all the postings of this thread from the begin to the 45pages where I joined the thread. So I will strongly suggest that you do the same, it will be of help to you all in gaining insight about everything, I mean, everything(!) about Canadian Universities application and Canada Study permit application.
Now the following is the list of document I U ued during my application.

But for my case, since I finished my NYSC I no see job. It was really a problem for me during my Visa application. I don’t want to lie and give a fake employment letter. So I one day an idea came to my mind that I should approach my Boss where I did my student Industrial attachment to write a letter for me emphasizing the things I did when I was with them which are all related to my propose study in Canada. And that was how this red turn to green light by God given idea)

11. Letter from an International organization ( I have been a member of the association for the past 8 years and I have once served as the General sec for the Nigeria Branch, so I got a letter from them too. It will interest you to know that the organization has it Headquarters in Toronto Canada)

And for your information of you are planning to use themm they are no longer at the Sura shopping complex they have pack to somewhere in Lekki, but get to their office at Sura shopping complex from there you can then get direction to their nnew office.

@charlie and all gurus i have an uncle in canada and his helping me out with my admission with a school,and in the application form there is a place where they asked to indicate if i have any relation in Canada ,so i want to knw whether to say yes that i have somebody or no.thanks.
Re: Travelling To Canada by charlie193: 1:14pm On Dec 19, 2010
@Cavaed4real

If your Uncle does not bear same surname with you and also he has not stated any relationship with you in any of the application form is filling for you, then your best bet is to say 'NO' . See please just say 'no' it is better, Ok!

@cavad4real, if its visa application forms then I subscribe to Charlie193's above advice but as it is school admission, you can say yes (gives the school the mandate that your brother can act on your behalf) which comes in handy in following up your application and its status.

Re: Travelling To Canada by harrymann(m): 4:40pm On Dec 19, 2010
For all those making their application for study permit to the canadian embassy, i advice you read thru what charlie just posted.
NOTE: to get admission is easy but to get a study permit is not that easy. You need to convince the CDHC beyond any reasonable dought that you are only going to canada to study and that you wil come back.
Also below are what i submitted in the process of my application and with God on my side, i got a VISA.
1. My completly fill application form,family composition,questioniar,3 passport photograph and my international passport.
2. My undergraduate,Waec, neco, FSLC original certificate
3. Birth certificate,certificate of origin.
4. Police clearance certificate
5. My admission letter
6. Scholarship letter of 15,000 dollars from the school to support the cost of my first year.
7 break down of my fees and living expenses for one year.
8. Letter of congraulation from my HOD in my school (undergraduate) showing willingness to absorb me to the department on my return as a lecturer
9. My Employment letter and pay slips from one company( actually i had no job but i needed some thing to serve as tie and to show that i was not idle after my NYSC in august 2009)
10. A publication of my research work in the journal of Nigerian Society of chemical engineers. This has a lot to do with my Masters course.
11. My undergraduate project report.
12. My industrial work experience certificate(it must have a lot of relationship with your proposf course of study).
13. My sponsor employment letter,payslips,bank statement with closing balace of 800,000 and overall deposit of 8,000,000. Also a formal letter address to the CDHC of his intention to sponsor me . He was in no way related to me.
14. I did not put my statement of account since i did not have a reasonable amount of money inside.
15. Pray to God for favour,

I have sent the SOP. I wish success as you plan for your study in Canada.

@Sosodat

I just remember you that you are the guy that the embassy call for an interview, so I quickly read through the last posts and I saw that you letter got you VISA that same day. Congratulation

I am very happy for you. You see that our GOD is good. I can remember how scare you were when you application was more than a month even after Medical. Now we can all see that with God all is possible. My brother, I wish you well as you start your study in Canada.

Please which school are you going to? And what course. Congrats once again

@All

Now just like Harry said, I have come to the conclusion that you are free to use anybody as your sponsor, all what you need is to show relationship with the person. It is not a must that your sponsor should be your Parents. I did not use my Parent and Harryman did not use his parent either.

@All , traveling to Canada this Winter

Please I think we should all look to the past post on this thread posted by Rare on the likely lists of Things you might need in Canada. Cheers

@charlie and all gurus thank you very much for you reply.am having a challange pls tell me what to do. The weac result that the sch used in granting me admission was upgraded,it wasn't my real weac cos he said the sch will not give me admission with it,so he changed my B's and C's to A's.As it stands nw the sch wants to go get my visa and i dn't have the original copy of the upgraded result from weac,pls do u think that the embassy will call the school for the result they used in giving me admission.(2) is it a must to have toefl result?cos i dn't have any.thanks.

Re: Travelling To Canada by charlie193: 10:16pm On Dec 19, 2010
@Cavad4real

From your user's name that end with ' REAL' I think you are real, I don't know your are a fake guy. How could you want to use a fake WAEC result. This is going to be the beginning of your problem because the Canadian Consular will definitely find out that your result is fake , and you will be ban fro some years but the truth is that, you will not be able to enter Canada in your life time again.

I beg you, use your original result. Do not do any upgrade nonsense. It will leads to doom. Canadian High Commission verify all the submitted documents you gave to them. Ask you self why does the Canada study permit timeliness is very long? The answer is simple, they try to proof the authenticity of all the documents you submitted during VISA application.

Learn from this thread, just recently a guy with User name was denied Visa because they found out that he used fake Bank Statement, even after he has do\ne his medical.

So now let me answer your question

1. Yes, they do a background check on you trying to know if the school actually gave you admission. I think they do this by calling the school, I am not sure how they correspond with the school. But one thing is sure, that all the documents you send to the Embassy, they scan it , process it on their system and send it back to the schools, respective authority that issue the certificate or document to verify the authenticity of the document. And that is what they do with Banks, they just scan back the bank statement to the bank to verify.

See cava4 real, they will definitely get you that you are using fake WEAC, Do you want to bet with me? Please don't because I pity you. You are desperate! You have just started on a wrong platform

N.B 1, My advice is that try to use your ORIGINAL WAEC certificate to secure another admission in Canada. Forget about this current admission that you got with fake WAEC. If you don't mind I can send you the list of Colleges, Universities, and community colleges in Canada that will give you admission with B's and C's in your WAEC Result even with scholarship.

N.B 2, Please try to distance your self from this your Uncle. This is my 2 cents to you

2 If the school does not require TOEFL result from you, Then you are good to go.

P.S, Please I don't mean to sound abusive with this post to you (* Apology to you, if you think so). I see everybody on this thread like a brother, and I will not like to see you fall inside a pit.

Re: Travelling To Canada by charlie193: 8:15am On Dec 20, 2010

I am happy to see that you are ok with my post. Well the truth is that all schools in Canada will give you admission with 6 credit pass in your result which must include English and Mathematics . So if you meet up with the requirement, then check out for the list of all the schools in Canada and apply to those that suite your taste.l

To get Scholarship will depend on your secondary school transcript, you will need to submit it alongside your application.

Check this web site www.aucc.ca to get the list of all schools in Canada.

I wish you luck as you start again your dream on a solid platform.
Re: Travelling To Canada by Cuddlemii: 8:52am On Dec 20, 2010
Does that mean you can use a rich managing executive in your office or rich family friend as your sponsor when applying for visa because sponsorship is the only visible clause for me.

Secondly how much does the consulate want to see in the account. I am going for a PGD or graduate certificate in Information Technology, the school fees for this program ranges from $11900 to $19990.

Finally, do you think I shld ditch the agencies since they ask for full tuition and I can't afford that, what do you suggest.
