ifechukwukamso: I was lucky to get my bachelor transcript the day I applied and was sent via DHL to CES in Toronto, both MSc & BSc certificates got there the same day and I received the evaluation after 2 weeks. I have worked in an agro-allied company as health and safety officer for 4 years before commencing my master in Sweden (2010. |

Hello, I am Aman from India. I have few queries regarding immigration to Canada through FSWP: - I have completed my Diploma in I.T. for 3 years, due to which i got qualified to direct second year of engineering in I.T. As per Canadian govt. needs 4 years of graduate. Do i have to do the assessment from local registrar for Diploma as well along with BE in I.T. - When i will send my documents for assessment, i need to pay first, do i have to attach the payment receipt with my documents or WES ref. number will work. - As i do not have credit card, is there any other way to pay the assessment fees. - Is there any way, for assessment to be done faster. - I am applying for Engineering Managers, what if the quota gets full. Regards, Aman |

kelo314: Referring to the bolded part. (I am assuming here that your Bsc transcript was obtained from a Nigerian Institution). It means the CES evaluation is faster than WES' evaluation. I see this as a marketing strategy which will eventually increase the evaluation/assessment processing speed of the assessing bodies. In essence, assessment should be faster with CES than with WES. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomonwis(m): 2:44pm On Sep 08, 2013 |
rickyaman86: Hello, Regarding the bolded part in your first comment, the minimum requirement to qualify for the FSWP is a Canadian Diploma or equivalent. Some people don't have as much qualification (beyond diploma) but still meet up with the minimum required 67 points factoring other selection criteria. Still on your first question, you can forward all your educational credentials from Diploma to Bachelor/Master degree to the assessing body of your choice (I always encourage this, even when you have a higher qualification it is always advisable to include your basic qualification - There's no penalty if you don't!). You don't necessarily have to include your online payment receipt when sending credentials, all you need to do is to quote your reference number. They can access your profile and tell when payment has been made. Regarding credit card, it is always advisable to pay using a credit card. The main reason being the fact that the process of transferring CAD$203.40 to WES is demanding and the charges involved will make it more expensive. You might also experience a slight delay in the payment/receipt confirmation. So I'd advise that you pay with a credit card. Again, if you can't pay for assessment using a credit card, how do you hope to get your application to CIO in Nova Scotia assessed timely when the process of wire transfer is time consuming? Remember, you are constrained by time and you are in competition with a whole lot of other applicants from all over the world who would have a less time consuming mode of payment(via credit card) than you. Assessment can be done faster with most of the assessing bodies but that will require extra charges. Most of the assessing bodies made it clear that the fast track process has been suspend but I have seen a couple of people whose assessment have been fast tracked with a 3 day processing period. If the cap for your eligible occupation get filled up, your application will be returned and you would have to pray fervently that your eligible occupation get listed in the net session. That is not to dissuade you from sending in your application as Engineering Manager though, you might just be lucky to be part of the 300. |

kelo314: Perfect! You will surely get it. No doubts |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by ifechukwukamso: 3:45pm On Sep 08, 2013 |
solomonwis: I think so too. WES is the most popular assessment body so they have many customers and many delays. The advantage they have is experience and standards. But if d standard of assessment is same, then people intending to send out their documents should start considering other assessment bodies. |

solomonwis: Yes my BSc transcript was obtained from University of Ibadan. you are right CES is faster, also the evaluation of CES is more recognize by most companies in Canada than any other agency. Though is more expensive compare to others (301 CDN). Friends living in Canada recommend it and I was told that one will still need CES evaluation when seeking for employment. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by ifechukwukamso: 8:35am On Sep 09, 2013 |
kelo314: I beg to disagree Kelo314. I have sought license to practice my profession in Canada before this FSWP stuff. Almost all (Up to 15) the institution i applied to referred me to WES for evaluation. I never heard of CES until this FSWP. WES is over 60 years old evaluating credentials for almost all the 194 countries on the planet. Though its tactically wiser to use CES or other agencies now due to congestion with WES, WES is STILL THE GOLD STANDARD when it comes to credential evaluation being globally and even more recognized in Canada |

good morning house. Just got a mail from WES that a copy of my cert has been sent to my school for verification. Where will it be sent to,Senate,Registrar or department? How long will it take to get there? Will I need to pay extra charges? And can it be sent together with my transcript since My school is yet to process the transcript? Thanks |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nobody: 10:55am On Sep 09, 2013 |
ifechukwukamso: WEll my brother you may be right, if you read my last message I said friends living in Canada, I've not been there so I can't say categorically that one is right or wrong. I followed the instruction given to me by friends who live in Alberta, and since they knew that Alberta is the location I selected in my application, they suggested that I should not mind the cost since most employers in Alberta always ask for CES. I am not condemning WES or doubt their standard. I used WES when I was looking for admission in USA. People can decide to use any of these agency recommend by CIC. |

Thanks The verification is usually sent to the exams and records unit in the registrar's office so you can follow up. Regarding how long the process might be,that depends on the medium of communication between your school and WES. Also you have to factor in the response time between your school and WES before you can safely conclude on how long it will be. 1 Like |

solomonwis:. What is ECA? |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomonwis(m): 6:55pm On Sep 10, 2013 |
blueQueen: . Educational Credentials Assessment {ECA} - ECA is issued by an agency approved by CIC to show it(your educational qualification) is equal to a completed Canadian secondary or post-secondary educational credential. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nobody: 7:12pm On Sep 10, 2013 |
solomonwis:Ok...is it the same as IELTS? Why can't you just send them ur transcript and certificate? Btw, I worked as a Trainee Geologist, can I apply under Geoscientist and is the cap reached? Thanks for the speedy response. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomonwis(m): 7:40pm On Sep 10, 2013 |
blueQueen: ECA is not the same as IELTS. Well, you can't just send them your transcripts and certificates as they'd need to be sure of the authenticity of the educational credentials you are sending as well as rate your qualifications to be sure it is equivalent to a Canadian qualification. Your eligible occupation is 2113 classified as Geoscientists and oceanographers. As at the last update provided, only 10 complete applications have been received out of a total of 300 for that eligible occupation. If you have done a self assessment of having the work experience as it is on the NOC website, then you can proceed to get your ECA and IELTS and you can guide yourself with the instructions on www.cic.gc.ca and the experience of others here. If you have any question along the line, you can come on here to make enquiries. |

Hi all, Please are we to include our professional certification in the application? Though I didn't see anywhere its included on the checklist, I just need to be sure. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by solomonwis(m): 5:58am On Sep 11, 2013 |
kike100: Hi all, •WES only evaluates credentials earned through formal academic training. Applicants should not submit short-term professional development courses or other non-formal, non-academic training documents. These types of documents will not be evaluated or included in the WES evaluation report. The question is, was your professional course earned through formal academic training? Is it a short term development course? If you can provide answers to the questions then you'd know whether to include the professional certificates or not |

Thanks for all useful information everyone. Please is the IELST test compulsory even when one has a bachelors degree plus a masters degree from a UK university? I mean considering the fact that one schooled in an English speaking country. Secondly can accounting and financial management be classified under the 1112 financial and investment analyst group? Thirdly, is a 2 year work experience enough to qualify me? Thank you |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Bwave: 1:55pm On Sep 12, 2013 |
Ca08abe: Thanks for all useful information everyone.IELTS is compulsory for every applicant. If you have experience as a financial and investment analyst for a minimum of one year, you can apply for NOC 1112, but bear in mind the cap for NOC 1112 is already filled. |
