You know why? - it's because when it comes to issues that affect African Americans collectively - they all speak with one voice despite their differences/statuses/classes in the society. That's the website community that they got me through uni with Guardian UK CIF. The Guardian UK is like British middleclass version of Bossip and they both have the collective agreement mentality when it comes to issues that affect everyone despite their differences. However, with nairaland, it's always about bigoted opinions and sycophantic pseuds attacking your posts for no reason and calling you names. Heck, the first ever comment I made on this darn forum was attacked!

The American economy is never going to sink. America has enough resources to stay afloat - it just needs to cut its military spending and the country will be alright. African Americans have absolutely nothing to worry about. Collectively they have the highest GDP of any black group/country on this planet. However, I believe they also need to go back to how industrious they were during segregation and those things that enable them to create to great black institutions like: HBCUs, Black Wall Street etc.. They need to start embracing their own and learn how to create wealth. Once they can get that out of the way - they should continue in their place as the shining stars of the black race. They gave black people a voice with the different movements they started in the 50s(although Haiti started the revolution) and I believe they will also be at the forefront of the black renaissance. Err...if you factor the massive oil reserve in California into the equation, then the country should stay afloat, if it can stop fighting meaningless wars everywhere. Late to this thread but did anyone listen to the tapes where the screaming was heard? (the neighbor's 911 call). I'm pretty convinced that the voice was Trayvon's. It just doesn't sound like it would come from whiny voiced, nasally George Z. Sounds like it comes from someone with a deep voice. Also there's something about the voice that doesn't sound like it's coming from a man with a huge young man sitting on him and bashing his head repeatedly into the concrete. According to the pics of zimmerman's wounds, all he had was a bloody nose and some scrapes on the back of his head that only needed a band-aid. At what point when a grown ar*se man sustains these minor injuries does he start screaming like a deranged bi*tch? Makes no iota of sense to me whatsoever. No way he was screaming that much because he got punched in the nose. I think Trayvon was screaming when he saw the gun and psycho murderer Zimmerman was holding him to gunpoint and threatening his life.

A little bit late on the thread, but I just have to say that the Jury are either racist or they are just stupid to just see facts. During the trail, which I saw on TV. The defense kept trying to say that George Zimmerman might have been the one who was screaming during the 911 tape, and mind you the scream stopped when the gun was fired. But if this picture was showed to the jury and they saw trayvon's mouth opened, couldn't they have put 2 and 2 together that it was obviously trayvon screaming?? And before anyone comes out with the whole B.S argument of it was "self-defense" "stand your ground" "Law of the land" claim to try to defend the Jury, I just want to say that if the situation was switched we won't be having this conversation right now.

And the saddest part of things like this is the only reason the Media and the public are still all over this issue is because it is still fresh, I give it 2 more weeks and the media will get another hot topic and we won't hear about this issue anymore and the rest of the public will rally, march, protest, petition for a month or so and if nothing is done about it they will go on with their daily life.Terrible, I know.

The Murder of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy, and a reminder that eventhough America is suppose to be the land of the "free" and "equal", it probably will never be that for a group of people who aren't white.

If previous empires could predict what would sink them, they would have stopped it before it grew big enough to take them out. All the reasons you have mentioned make sense, and that is the problem. There is a lot more to physical happenings that originates spiritually. Which is why every empire will fall eventually, and never in the way they would like.

Events like Trayvon Martin's murder are dangerous, because the whole nation witnessed the injustice and can therefore be held responsible based on their next course of action. These are the kinds of crimes that count against nations spiritually

I agree with you. Africans are easily brainwashed. Unlike the West nearly all Africans in Africa don’t know the full mentality of Caucasians in the West. Without studying the diversity in Caucasian nature, and often with a white Jesus being the only non-black face seen in thousands of villages throughout Africa, a god complex occurs.
