agbameta: The same people laying claims to Lagos on this thread are the ones secretly wishing the CITY should be destroyed here https://www.nairaland.com/1417909/lagos-ranked-4th-world-worst/2 These are ibos, and they are the most shameless and bittered snakes out there. 12 Likes |

XereX: You have just noticed? Did you see https://www.nairaland.com/1418733/there-world-war-iii-how#17792245 where an ibo man is saying an attack of Nigeria is the opportunity ibos have been waiting for so they can attack the Yorubas to see if they could re-write their historical loss of 1970? Where is Eko Ile, Naptu, Eko Atlantic, etc people who can relate these kind of views to our leaders!? It is better to be prepared to smash the housefly with a sledge hammer rather than wait for it to depart on its own accord! 3 Likes |

XereX: Funny, every other ethnic groups are happy with this development as evident on this thread except the ibos.I bet they are simply being idealistic. If they succeed in making Igbos leave Lagos, the city will collapse like a deflated baloon. Then they will have time to integrate SW well and can even choose sign language to teach. |

Adm. Yamamoto: I presently live in a multiethnic setting in Nigeria, Abuja to be precise and I speak atleast four local languages with slight understanding of ibo language. If you really want know who ibos are and the level of hatred they harbored for anything Yoruba or south west or other Nigerians just enter into discussion with any ibo man without giving him a hint of your background. Ibo man will call Hausa goat, Yorubas dirty, South South lazy, and so on. 6 Likes |

Then they will have time to integrate SW well and can even choose sign language to teach. The investments of Aliko Dangote and Alhassan Dantata is greater than that of whole ibos put together. Dangote alone employs more people than all ibo business men in Lagos. Tell me one contribution the ibos are bringing to Lagos other than leeching and sucking? Your so-called economic prowess can only fly in the minds of deluded goats like yourself. Or you think spare parts and pirating CD is what is progressing Lagos? 12 Likes |

Government policies shapern investment and new ideas ,let there be electricity and see what will happen.A simple government policy on the banned on 2nd hand clothings and textiles affected lives of your so called business people. The ikeja industrial zone, ilupeju industrial zones were ones dominated by yoruba producers. 1 Like |

it will be a good idea to test it on a few schools and see how it works. It may be an efficient way to educate local childen who otherwise would be deemed illiterate. At least they will be getting education even if in yoruba. Eventually if it is successful, it can be expanded. XereX: Exactly!! They are very bitter and it shows. They always have the most horrible things to say. Their ill-wishes are very blatant. 2 Likes |

paulokougha: A good idea indeed. How many of thier children were taught in Yoruba language in Primary School? Stop fooling us. they are talking about basic schools. ie local government schools. It is certainly not a bad idea because if you go to a local government school, depending on the area, most of the children can't read or write properly in english. many can't even speak it. it is only yoruba that they know so why not let them get an education in yoruba? 1 Like |

icon8: Why do u use english to write dis?why not use yoruba? See them proposing what d can't allow for their children for other people's children. None of their children is schooling in nigeria, yet they are proposing this for other people's children. Why not equip ur schools with modern facilities and ensure students are properly taught what they are suppose to be taught? How will the use of yoruba or any indigenous language helps this? Who are these ones talking about "Yoruba graduates struggling with English". Anyway, if you are a learned Yoruba (especially a writer), you will have no problems with either English or Yoruba. Wole Soyinka for instance is well versed in both. 1 Like |

The flatheaded should be more concerned how all their folks are dropping their stone age lingo like a bad habit. And stop taking pain medicine for yoruba headache. Aint you subhumans ashame that even kids of yoruba parentage living in the diaspora speaks the language flawlessly while all your kids outside alaigbo can hardly stich a sentence together in igbo. 4 Likes |

Don't wait till its implemented. Get yourself the right books and perhaps teachers and take responsibility for your wards. The power of mother's language can be over emphasised . Multiple languages can also help improve thinking ability. Nice |

boldy235: This would be a practical attempt to divide the country . It may improve the sense of unity amongst the people of the south west and the opposite with other ethnic groups, there by taking us back to the times before 1914 . Now read your post again. Does this in anyway justify retaining English language as a language of instruction since 1960s? You've been using English since elementary days and your constructive use of it is still this bad... 6 Likes |

olas24u:Govt policies always sharpen investment no doubt. But such policies impact equally on bussiness irrepective of ownership. If Igbos can be ahead without such policy, what will happen when such incentives are given-complete domination! On the other hand saying Igbos deal on second hand cloths is self deception. This is because what we call Nigrian ready made cloths and shoes are produced by igbos. The ones imported are imported by Igbos. It is still Igbos that form the Bulk of the traders. where did yoruba come into the picture. This is why economic santion imposed by balogun and Alaba traders will see lagos governor begging them on his knees. It is unbelievable but true. 1 Like |

ILIDEFI: Many Yoruba graduates are terrible in English (both in their accents and d use of verbs), despite being taught in schools with English language. Can somebody now imagine how it would b in a couple of years time if dis new plan is implemented? I cannot believe that an Ibo person is criticizing another tribe's English or accent lmao This is delusion of the highest order. @ the bolded above What is the SW's business about how you feel about our language and how easy it will be for you and your children to migrate here? I simply cannot believe the nerve of you guys- seriously. When you make a decision to move to another state, you must be ready to integrate yourself, learn the Language and obey the laws- it is not the other way round. This is very rich coming from an Ibo person where meetings in the civil service are held in Ibo language. In the UK, if an English person moves to N.Ireland, the children will learn Gaelic in school, it is even worse in Scotland, University education is free for all Scottish citizens but citizens from England, Wales and N. Ireland have to pay- is it not one UK? Every region has a right to formulate and implement policies they deem will be in the best interest of the constituents. I dont know why you are complaining, how do Ibos manage in Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Afghanistan etc ? Do you also go there to claim rights? 6 Likes |

talktimi: youre obviously the pathetic soul here. If you decided to reason a bit, you would realize that i made valid legal points. If you have your own opinion to counter mine or any other here then state it. Without writing an epistle here its clear from my post that the moment we made english our official language in this country, such efforts by our amiable governors will meet constitutional brick walls except the SW has secceded from Nigeria without my notice. Like i said, lets hear what the ministry of education has to say about this first. What section of the constitution will serve as a brick-wall to this initiative? The constitution is available everywhere and it is not some mystery document that only a privileged few can read. Why don't you educate yourself before going about spewing falsehood. |
