I'm at Calabar. From the EVDO stuff I read on Starcomm's website, It switches to 1x when out of coverage area and 1x should give up to 70kbps but it looks like its just around this my area, cos a friend that lives about a mile away says the network's OK and about 8 miles its OK cos they have a mast there.

The irony of the whole issue is that starcomm's office in Calabar is like a walk away from my house. Anyway, I'll be moving to my new place around that my friend's area at the end of the month, so I'll confirm for sure if its the network coverage.

This morning I managed 7kbps when I changed location in my current house.

I doubt that there is EVDO coverage in your area. I mean for you to be getting this kind of speed,it is definitely not EVDO

why don't u get a laptop and test ur evdo device at ur friends place to be sure ur device is not the problem or ur pc

oh and don't bother trying to get 70kb/s with 1x we that use evdo we were promised over 700kb/s and even up to 1mb/s but all we get is 50 to 180kb/s and its not even steady

but thats really slow even when i was using the first starcomms with the big phone i got at least 4kb/s ur not even up to 1kb/s and to think u paid for evdo thats just wrong try using a download manager

Wit ur location bin close 2 a mast u definately shudnt b getn dose rates even on x1
It mite likely be a problem wit ur system(software/hardware incompartibility multiple ntwk accts etc)
Try d data card on dif systems at ur place & ur friend's b4 tkn it 2 starcom office, at least dey wont hv any reason 2 push u away in a hurry

Please I am having problems with my starcomms connection here in Warri. I subscribed for Evdo, but there's no Evdo coverage here in Warri, so I'm using 1x. Since yesterday it has said my username and password is wrong on the domain, please help me out. I dunno what to do, there's no starcomms office in Warri yet.

I wouldn't say i am not happy neither will i say i am not sad. The Problem is that it just flashes for about 5 to 10secs and its back to status quo of averaging 35kbps when i paid for a maximum of 3mbs!

1. if u just got d stuf today its not meant to be activated til after 24hrs
Also is it d EVDO card or usb u got? & hv u verified dat u r in d coverage area?
2.To tk screenshots click on d "fn" + "prt sc" den open PAINT application and click on edit den paste.
save d file where u can easily locate it
i gess u can tk it frm dere u ca also get an application such as PIXRESIZER to reduce d file size for easy upload
