Irrespective of the fact that no course is useless and no knowledge is a waste, I personally believe from the real life scenario that some professions have more prospects and dignity than others. Take a brief look around you and you will see it in the lives of people in your neighbourhood. Fate also counts. In that case, you talk about luck. But first, do something more practicable within your locale and get more chances and opportunities of attracting good luck to your side.

PEACE please !!!

Oluwatola5: The problem with Nigerians is that they lack the ability to think outside the box. I SMH whenever i tell people my course(Education and English Lang) and the question that pops out of their mouth is ''why were you given that course? Did you actually pick that course?''. Like seriously, the reason why unemployment is rampant is because of over-concentration on just particular courses of study.

Like seriously, if i didnt have parents who are learned, i guess i also would have been wallowing in this backward mentality of ''once you are a good Art student, go for Law''. When i think of the doors open to me through my course alone, i just laugh within me and say ''the end will justify the means''. Perhaps many dont know the kind of money educational consultants are earning per consultations just like the medical consultants or also the wide room opened which means a larger percentage will never go jobless for a moment. The life of Dolapo Ogunbawo tells it all about the education world.bro I like your comment and am a situation now.I was given education in social studies to study in uniben.am thinking of leaving the course and retake jamb because my initial course was biz admin.I would need ur advice bro.08104885874.fb-namu peter.pin-30EBFF9D.email.namu_peter@mtnnigeria.blackberry.com.hoping to hear from Ù

The bottomline is that, know your worth, know the benefits of your course and go for it. Besides in the university, you get to borrow courses, all these are done to make you a rational thinker, not just thinking withing your field of study, you can as well try something else when your desire directs you. smiley

I recently graduated from the Dept of Building, Unilag. During my undergrad, I did some ESM courses and I really enjoy the lectures.
Estate Mgt is a profession that trains on how to value properties and manage building structures. You get to value houses and give clients the estimated price of a property depending on their location, type of occupants, purpose of the building, etc. You can also help determine rent, lease amt. and so on.

Just look for any Estate Mgt and Valuers firm where u can practise or get someone to give u insight into the profession

shut the fuc'. there is no discipline anywhere in this planet called building! what they have is building and carpentry ..thats what i was tryna let the useless homosexual knw bfor he started exuding his largish inherent stupidity.

When you aren't sure about something, listen to others for clarity. I recently graduated from Dept of Building, UNILAG and I'm am presently doing my NYSC @ Oyo State. There's a course called Building on its own and not Building & Capentry like u said. Professional Builders must be present on all Building Construction site and they help manage the building from the construction stage to its completion/ defect liability period, some even specialize in Maintenance of Buildings and they help renovate or reconstruct an existing building in order for it not to deteriorate or dilapidate. They decide the Method of Construction, supervise the work of Subcontractors and Site workers, manage the project as project Managers, take quantity of material supply, calculation of required materials, payment of workers, allocation of work, material schedule, resource mgt, etc. etc, etc, ***a Builders work on site is endless.

Go and sin no more

Building as a course is not a joke and the effort you will put in to make 2.1 here will get u 1st class in some other courses. As a Building student you get to take compulsory course in Architectural Drawings, Civil Engr. (Strength of Materials, Design of Concrete, Steel Design), Surveying and Geo., Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Property Valuation, Law of Contracts, Project Mgt., Quantity Surveying's Cost Estimation, combined with Building departmental courses.
You keep jumping around the whole university faculties for the 5yrs course duration and during the 6months internship, you work under sun on a site where sun go re-color ur skin.

PS: I'll finish my NYSC this February, any one it the field ready to give me d breakthrough I need to succeed as a Builder can take me up. Thanks

so many stupid people. going to the university is not just about the degrees. university gets you exposed to many things. you even get neccessary connections and extra skills or knowledge you pick up. you get to imbibe the reading culture and many things. trust me, university is more than the degree

Volunteering and internships are a great way to build a resume for those who have liberal arts degrees.
