Rooney lacks sharpness since the begging of this season. He need to improve on his ball control. |

Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 9:57pm On Oct 02, 2007 |
@ 9ja4eva, I think if we dont concede . . . . . We wont score more than a goal in any match. What the Bleep is tonight's performance all about? An early goal would have opened ROMA up and we should have eased into the game. Roma played with lotta spirit and TOTTI was just awesome. Tricky touches . . .Sublime passes . . . Good balance and stealth and he was just outstanding on the night. Man Utd also played some lovely footie but something hsould be done with the pace of our game. Carrick and Scholes were too slow in their decision-making and the passes were too late in getting to the front men. Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 POINTS FROM 2 GAMES is not a bad return. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by medube(m): 10:02pm On Oct 02, 2007 |
Man U are becoming the Chelsea of last season with 1- 0 games. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Iman3(m): 10:06pm On Oct 02, 2007 |
I'm thinking its time Scholes was rested alongside Giggs.Once Hargreaves gets back,he should be starting alongside Carrick.Scholes has been operating too deep, leaving a lot of gap between attack and the centre of midfield. He no longer has the pace or energy to cover the distance. Nani had a decent game, even Anderson showed flashes of brilliance. The key thing is that we secured all 3 points, win the next 2 games against D.Kiev and we are through to the next round with 2 games to spare. Rio was outstanding at the back.I thought we were too cautious and played without any sense of urgency. The pace was too slow and this suited Roma.Hopefully,as the attacking trio of Rooney,Ronaldo and Tevez regain full fitness,we will be up and running. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by debosky(m): 10:09pm On Oct 02, 2007 |
medube: . . . . meaning they'll come second and not win the premiership But seriously, 1-0 victories are priceless, you nick the points with minimum fuss. Goals are good, but in the early days like these, getting the results is much more important. Flamboyant wins can start at a later point in the season. Get a good run of victories under the belt and then move on. @ Jackal what happened to Nanizza and Ronalzza in this game? Methinks they were relatively quiet, what say you? @ I-man are you saying Ronaldo is not fully fit? I dont know of any injury he has had, maybe you are taling about regaining form? |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 10:25pm On Oct 02, 2007 |
@ Debosky, Nani and Ronaldo had a brilliant game. Although, Nani was show-boating a lot but he showed flashes of his sterling quality in the match. The problem has to be in the midfield . . . . Carrick and Scholes were too slow in making telling passes. Carrick is too cautious and always passing the ball backwards and sideways like a self-servicer. Tevez keeps getting better and better. . . . . He had to be the best buy of the season. He's got balance, stealth, raw skills and he was very unlucky with his strike. Rooney was awesome . . . . Ronaldo was dangerous all night and RIO was immense in the defence. I really cant wait to have Gazza and Owen back . . . . .Scholes needs rest . . . . . AGE is catching up with the old guards. 2 more VICTORIES and we dont have to think about UEFA till February. It will give us the time and space to CONCENTRATE more on the PREM and chase the GAYNNERS out of the pole position. This time last season . . . . United was leading both the PREM and UEFA league table. Its about time United gets into the groove and show what they have got. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by ochocinco1(m): 12:09am On Oct 03, 2007 |
So which team do you guys reckon had the clearer chances? Rooney, but for the goal was mediocre for a player i rate highly. Tevez I dont think did anything special compared to the impact Pizzaro had when he came on. Esposito looked like a player that should be in the Championship. the english Championship that is Vucinic strong on the ball Ronaldo should have got the ball more cause he was a threat Nani showed some good moves. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Iman3(m): 12:44am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@Debosky In Ronnie's case, its more a question of form than fitness @Jackal Hargreaves is out for 3 to 4 weeks. That man spends most of his seasons on the treatment table |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 1:02am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@ I-man, Just heard about Hargo now on SKYSPORTS. What the heck is wrong with that dude? Are we going to get the best out of this geezer with this injury curse? I think Nani had his best game in a red shirt tonight. Giggs should be starting from the bench to give these youngsters a chance to express themselves. No one would have known his worth if he had started from the bench today and kudos to FERGIE for giving him a chance. He was unlucky not to have scored when his effort hit the cross-bar. Rio Ferdinand was simply outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a night Vidic was quiet, Rio took matters into his own hands and coped well with Roma attack. Interceptions, reading the game well and keeping a good defence line . . . . this is why i think he is the best centre-half in England. On his day he is unbeatable but his short attention span sometimes lets him down . . . . . . The goals would come soon . . . . . .I am confident. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Abium: 2:04am On Oct 03, 2007 |
we should be happy that we clinched 3 points |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by 9ja4eva: 5:23am On Oct 03, 2007 |
Jackal: I didnt like our game today even though we grabbed the three points.I think we have to up our game and play good spirited football.SAF would have brought in younger players to light the game up.No key man nothing. Not to forget Tomaz who had a great game.Special mention to him.We need Owen back as soon as possible.NANI had a lively game but too much unwanted skillz from him.Well i expect to see a more spirited side against Dynamo. Mother luck was just on our side.Anywayz na three points. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by McOmo(m): 6:33am On Oct 03, 2007 |
At least u didnt go down like u did in front of ur faithfuls when Coventry came calling just last week ! Why do I just love Hargreaves ? |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by tkb417(m): 8:29am On Oct 03, 2007 |
Rio was superb, nani also and my boi Rooney. I think Saha needs a spiritualist to talk to him. Scholes ,Carrick and Saha are the reasons why we are scoring one goal per game. They are not just playing well at all. Tevez is now the Tevez i used to know. We need a striker in January SAF needs to do something to Hargreaves, Saha needs to upp his game or run to lyon Giggs should take a bow Gary Neville should just come back |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 9:38am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@ tkb417, All i need from the lads is 2 more victories in the next 2 games to sail us through the next round of UEFA. If we can do that . . . . .then our youngsters and all rusty players should be given the chance to play in the last 2 games of UEFA. I think the problem lies with the midfield . . . . . They kind of slow the pace of the game down and were too cautious. The only time we played one touch footie was when Wazza scored!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scholes and Carrick should offer more passes in the midfield. Carrick played his heart out against Chelsea . . . .I don't know why he's freezing up these days and SCHOLES isnt that IMPERIOUS again. The only functioning department is the defence . . . .RIO + VIDIC. Something has to be done and fasssst to sort out this slow pace. Its about time United start scoring avalanche of goals. C'MON UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Chacal Sometimes when you don't know something, keeping silent on the issue is the best approach (One can never have unlimited knowledge of stuff, can one!?). Let me make this loud and clear for you for the final time WILL ARSENAL BE TAKEN OVER IN THE FUTURE? YES!! WILL IT BE ANYTIME SOON (Like in 1 year)? NO!! Now what part of that don't you understand And yeah what were you saying about DD http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2182491,00.html "Red & White said in August that Usmanov did not intend to take a controlling stake - a declaration which under stock-market rules precludes the company making such a bid within six months. Yesterday the Uzbek-born Russian sidestepped the issue: "Today I don't have this intention - maybe next year or maybe in 10 years. Maybe we have that intention but we've reached our capacity for today." with this as emphasis; "Red & White said in August that Usmanov did not intend to take a controlling stake - a declaration which under stock-market rules precludes the company making such a bid within six months." ANYWAY!! THAT ENDS THAT THEN!! By the way, Good game yesterday GOONER 89 |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 10:51am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@ Loyika, This is just a FACADE. I expected someone like u to disregard such statement especially from a crooked Russian. Blimey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do u expect him to say? Lemme break it down for u because it seems u don't know ZILCH. ARSENAL SHAREHOLDINGS. DIRECTORS (Total 45.45%) Daniel Fiszman 24.11% Lady Bracewell-Smith 15.9% Richard Carr 4.4% Peter Hill-Wood (Chair) 0.8% Lord Harris of Peckham 0.09% Ken Friar 0.07% Sir Chips Keswick 0.06% Keith Edelman (MD) 0.04% MAIN INDIVIDUALS (33.19%) Red & White Holdings(USMANOV) 21% . . . . . . . . . .IT rose to 23% LAST FRIDAY. Stan Kroenke 12.19% If Usmanov buys 25% holding of the company, he would get a blocking vote and that will allow him a veto over key decisions. He only needs to woo Richard Carr(4.4%) and buy his shares at a double price and that ends the story. If Usmanov reaches the 30% threshold, he would be required to launch an OFFICIAL TAKEOVER. THE ICING ON THE CAKE IS . . . . . .USMANOV IS A RED DEVIL . . . HE IS A MAN UTD FAN! Are u telling me Usmanov wont provide the funds if a share-holder decides to sell today? Loyika, can u trust any RUSSIAN? Dont be so naive . . . . . Its all a COVER-UP. The take over is imminent . . . . .Its only a matter of time and can happen THIS YEAR. Somebody somewhere is going to sell out . . . . .I will remind u when that happens. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by loyika(m): 11:04am On Oct 03, 2007 |
Chacal A blocking vote is only for "Special resolutions", Which Arsenal hardly make (doesn't affect the day to day running of the club) Keith Edelman has made this known time with out number, so as usual; YOU ARE MAKING NO POINT!! This is useless, let me make it simple for you, Noting has happened yet, and until something concrete takes place; LEAVE IT ALONE!! Stop getting erections (as you and Kit would say) anytime Usmanov farts. If you reminding me has anything to do with your prediction powers of late , Then i guess this is going to be one long a@@ wait for you (I probably would be carrying my Gran kids on my laps, by the time you get to shout! EUREKA!! TOLD THAT GEEZER LOYIKA IT WOULD HAPPEN!! As your children support you on your stroller, so that you won't fall off due to your need to rush to your computer to post on Nairaland ) GOONER 89 |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by tkb417(m): 11:12am On Oct 03, 2007 |
I think the problem lies with the midfield . . . . . They kind of slow the pace of the game down and were too cautious.Jackal The passes are not crisp and sublime no more. Those two guys are supposed to be masters in that line. They are f'cking slow and Scholes resulted into long passes which things difficult. Der has to be a fundamental change in our approach to games, then we can conveniently thump opponents |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 11:17am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@ Loyika, What do u know about corporate takeovers? Please stop this joke u are trying to make. Lemme break u something proper and what 25% stake can do. . . . . Usmanov can influence company affairs . . . . The Russian can change the name of the club to CSKA London or Locomotive London. He can also summon an Emergency General Meeting and things and things. Usmanov being a Man Utd fan can change the name of the club to Ferguson FC for a start . . . In ma mind's eye . . . .The takeover should be expected anytime soon. It cannot be a long ass wait and should happen before ur seeds cause chaos in any woman's womb. Its so soon i can smell it already. . . . . .give or take, i will say less than 180 days. Usmanov has got big plans, big planx!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by RuuDie(m): 11:35am On Oct 03, 2007 |
good game, but if Roma could'a been a li'l more daring they could'a given us a huge scare and just maybe shoot 'emselves in the foot at the same time! both teams tried to be cautious, but at the times when UTD upped the intensity, it was obvious that Roma would crumble if it was persistent. . . . we opted for the patient approach and well, it paid off in the end. IMHO, the Saha / Tevez swap gave us that match - yes Tevil is far from spectacular but when he's up and running he's like a attack and defense player rolled in 1. . . . . dropping deep and helping out admirably! I was most impressed by O'shea. . . . th'ot Mancini was g'onna have a field day running him ragged but he stuck to his guns well enuff all nite long, though he didn't offer much in attack - he kept it pretty tite at the rear! Scholesy and Carrick were a bit off color amd played far too deep in our half too much to offer any kind of offensive support - guess it was all in the name of caution! well. . . . its Wigan this wkend and i'm looking forward to a reign on the top of the log - 24hrs at the most |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by loyika(m): 11:45am On Oct 03, 2007 |
Chacal I know quite a bit about Corporate takeovers (much more than you think). I GIVE UP!! I forget i am arguing with someone who even Jesus coming down a second time, would find hard to convince either way http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/7020611.stm 25% = Blocking "Special resolutions", which hardly takes place Calling for Emergency meetings Why!? Changing the name of the Club!? Chacal your jesting knows no bound , AS IF YOU BELIEVE THAT WILL EVER BE POSSIBLE!! Anyway, keep waiting for Arsenal to be taken over any time soon (which game week does this fall under ), I have other things on my mind (Like winning trophies ) but as you said, YOU WILL REMIND ME, WHEN IT HAPPENS!! So keep up your Erections on a takeover happening in 6 months, i will concentrate on us winning the Prem GOONER 89 |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Jackal(m): 11:58am On Oct 03, 2007 |
@ Loyika, U give up? That coming from u is a big COMPLIMENT to the WOLFMAN. However, u have spoilt the fun . . . .i enjoy winding u up with this takeover brouhaha. Do u actually believe i care if Usmanov takes over Arsenal? I DONT GIVE A FLYING Bleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just a wind-up . . . . I got the same stick when the GLAZERS came knocking so why cant i taunt ma PH negro aka LOYIKA. Meanwhile . . . . . Dont rule out blocking special resolutions. It hardly takes place DOES NOT MEAN it cannot. Lets get things straight . . . . . .Usmanov will help Arsenal in a lotta ways. Think about it . . . . more money to be spent and maybe Wenger might be chucked out. Ever imagined Arsenal buying a player like Messi for 90 million? or Kaka for 65 million? NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!! Back to footie . . . Good result from the gooners last night although not a VINTAGE ARSENAL. It seems u lots have been bitten by the lone goal syndrome as well. Who cares as long as its 3 points? Go head GAYNNERS. Just remember one thang . . . .Man Utd is lurking around to capitalise on one slip of urs. Whatever u gays do . . . . .just dont slip-up with United's breath on ur napes. |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by loyika(m): 12:17pm On Oct 03, 2007 |
Naahhh We leave the 1 goal per game to you scummies Business shall return on sunday against Roy Keane (it will feel like beating the Scum ahead of the game with the actual Scum ). As Bruce Lee would term it, "The Art of fighting without fighting!!" As for our game yesterday WHATTT!! THAT GAME WAS SO FREAKING BORING!! I feel asleep watching it i was soon wondering if Cesc was now playing for Chelsea But oh well can't have "VINTAGE FOOTBALL" all the time. This comp is going to be tight, i see the Pool doing the biz tonight, Have a feeling Chelsea will get a result at Valencia (a draw will be ok for them as funny as that sounds). English teams rule Europe, just too bad we can't win it on the trot Anywayz funnily enough i prefer the Humdrum of Prem footie to the hype of the Group stage of the UCL, real Comp doesn't start for me till the Knockout phase Can't wait for the Weekend GOONER 89 |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by RuuDie(m): 12:28pm On Oct 03, 2007 |
Don't think Usmanov's move is g'onna cause any harm to the relative stability in the Gunners' camp. . . . as long as it ain't g'onna be hostile and it don't mean the return of Dein which wouldn't go down well with quite a no. of the board! |
Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by justkunmi(m): 3:04pm On Oct 03, 2007 |
Nice win. especially with the 3 points but I'm not satisfied at all. United was clearly missing something. There was no bite to the game. Nothing special, nothing to point to, just the goal. We've kind of thrown our daring approach away. We were kinda relaxed and were waitin for Roma to come at us. . . And I defintely am not comfortable with these slim 1-0 wins. This is the 5th or 6th time we'll be winning with a single goal this season. This is a far cry from the United I saw last season. WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PROBLEM!!!!. Rooney and Tevez are starting to click but the journey is too long. They had better gel as soon as possible. . . Nani did well but I think he over did it a little. He holds on to the ball way too much and it annoys me. Well. its a good thing we are winning at least, but I need to see 'em goals. and I think things would surely change when Gary Neville returns. He'll reduce the work load on Ronaldo on the right so he can be more attack minded and daring. And also, Rooney could use his crosses. . . . . . .and wats up with Hagreaves PROUDLY UNITED |
