Politics / Re: Reps To Ban Oversea Education For Public Office Holders Wards. by 1honeybee: 1:58pm On Apr 02, 2010
cmonsence:

ABUJA—A Bill to prohibit the overseas basic and undergraduate education of children and wards of public officers and other matters, awaits second reading in the House of Representatives.

The Bill sponsored by Rep. Emmanuel Bello (PDP/Hong/Adamawa) seeks punishment for public office holders who send their children for education abroad without a “waiver” from the Education Minister.

According to the bill, “Subject to a written waiver granted under the hand of the Minister for Education, every child and or wards of public servant shall henceforth undergo basic and undergraduate education in the country.

“The Minister for Education shall in consideration of an application for waiver pursuant to Section I be guided by the nature of the proposed course of study for an undergraduate applicant, medical condition and the general national interest

“Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions of this Act, any public officer whose children and or wards are undergoing basic and undergraduate education overseas immediately before the date when this Act comes into force shall be deemed to be doing so pursuant to a waiver granted by the Minister  for Education”.
The bill added that “Save as otherwise prescribed, any public officer who seeks, applies and procures overseas education and or scholarship for his children or wards for basic or undergraduate education shall be guilty of an offence”.

But one of the colleagues of the sponsor of the Bill, Rep. Friday Itulah(PDP/Edo State), said the piece of legislation was unnecessary and undemocratic.

“That is rubbish talk you can send your children anywhere you like. This is democracy, if you have money you can send your children in space. Issues like that are better taken as motions instead of Bills”, he said.

@ the bolded part

These people are one for God's sake, they all do each other 'favour(s)' in their respective 'departments' or watever. But lets see what happens sha cos i support this 10000000% grin
Career / Re: The Reality Of Overqualification - Are People Getting Overqualified? by 1honeybee: 1:37pm On Apr 02, 2010
Hnmmm, this is so familiar. I have a friend who is finishing uni in the uk this summer, she's also starting her PHD thing in october without an hr of work experience in her field. My honest opinion is a no no, but i'm being all supportive because i don't know how to tell her that she'll find out that the PHD will do her basically 'less good' by the time she's ready to get a job in the sense that i believe people with just a yr work experience will be considered over her in most cases. But . . . . what's with all these titles though?

I personally want to work for a couple or yrs before any PHD or wotnot sha.

PS: my friend is in the engineering filed and i dnt think PHD is all that in that field . . .says another engineering friend anyway

Family / Re: We Share Different Rooms Bt She Is Pregnant 4 Me! by 1honeybee: 1:28pm On Mar 30, 2010
A million people here may tell you its a good idea and a trillion may tell you vice versa but the important thing is that you and your spouse have to know if that's what is going to work for you or not.
By the way. . .as long as your friend have/had sex with his wife then she will get pregnant at some point if they are both fertile, the fact that they sleep in different rooms or whatever does not matter. It is not 'sleep' that brings babies its sex

Religion / Re: Natural Disaster Will Soon Hit Nigeria - Adeboye by 1honeybee: 1:43am On Mar 09, 2010
It is really beyond me the way people take this nairaland so seriously, people should understand the fact that we can not all agree on the same thing and our opinion(s) may sometimes be very realistic and crude. Aisha spoke her mind and just because some of her 'gud'  friends didnt think she 'should' have said wat she said, they are already losing respect for her. . .   u ppl should realise that she's got her reason all u can do is let her see if this reason of hers is real or nt. Nigerians take this religion thing too seriously that they cant even see the most obvious things. Not everyone can like a particular prophet or wat not and nt everyone can dislike them. all ye xtians come here to attack ppl speakin out their minds about certain pastors and hurray, u start preaching about how nt to judge a pastor blah blah but you do know the same bible said u shouldnt judge your fellow humans which u ppl do EVERYDAY. is only your fav pastors u dnt judge, the moment the table turns on the ones you dnt really like then u wont mind wat ppl say  angry

@ elrazur,
your view was a bit harsh oo but scientifically and economically true

Romance / Re: I Have Fixed My Wedding Date. Who Will Be My Bride? by 1honeybee: 2:13am On Jan 21, 2010
NETGAIN:

I am tired of being single and I ‘m determined to marry not later than first quarter of this 2010.  If everything goes according to plan, I should have had a baby (son or daughter) by 31st December, 2010. To this end, I have fixed March 27, 2010 as my wedding date. The immediate constraint however is that there is no bride yet. I know I can find my way around, but I have to use this medium to aid my search because of time constraints. None of the relationships I had in the past – and I ‘ve had a number of them – led to marriage mainly because I discovered that the ladies involved were not really the ones I was looking for.

About Me.
I am 32, 5ft 10inches, good build, academically and financially strong. I am healthy, genotype AA, and HIV NEGATIVE.
About the One I ‘m Looking For

(i) My ‘Miss Right’ should be smart, intelligent, a jolly good lady, and should be no less than 5ft 7inches tall.
(ii) The ideal person should be academically strong and should have proven this by posting a strong performance at a minimum of first degree. Someone with OND could still be the one if she has all the other qualities enough to make up for this deficiency.
(iii) The person I ‘m looking for must be healthy and must be HIV NEGATIVE.
(iv) I assess people on their merit and never on the basis of tribe. The right person could be from any tribe but will need to a Christian
(v) I am not looking for a retired or practicing love-peddler! Pls do not respond if you have ever s.ex in exchange for money or other material
(vi) I ‘m currently based in Port Harcourt, and the person I ‘m looking for should either be based in PH or be willing to relocate.
Ladies, only if you are single, meet the above criteria; share in my vision to wed on 27/3/2010, and willing to give this a try, mail to endlessloveandbliss@yahoo.com

This is serious. Pls do not reply if you have nothing constructive to say.

God bless everyone!

Wow see the qualities u desire of your woman and even relocation oo and see the little u're willing to offer back ( according to your post anyway) . By the way u didnt mention the complimentary attitude u want from her, just a reminder grin
Politics / Re: Prophets Disagree Over Yar’adua’s Return by 1honeybee: 12:51am On Jan 02, 2010
duh. . . . . these are obvious things nau.

ladi02:

A Prophet, Primate Theophilous Olabayo has predicted that President Umar Musa Yar’Adua would not return to the country and would be forced vacate his office any moment from now.

The Primate, Evangelical Church of Yahwah stated this in an interview with Saturday Tribune on new year eve, highlighted that the president’s seat will still be vacant as some power- brokers within the Peoples Democratic Party are preparing Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to take-over the rein of governance.

Olabayo however said that the decision that Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan should take-over from President Yar’Adua would not stand the test of time, following an impending revolution that would bring about a God-chosen leader who would embark on spiritual cleansing of the country.

He explained further that ‘what will happen later in the year in Nigeria, would make whoever is abmitious to take up a political appointment, to have a rethink about it.”

Olabayo stressed that a one-time president and a past governor in one of the 36 states of the federaton should also pray against bereavement.

He said: “Thus says the Lord of the Hosts of heaven, that the two past leaders may not last the year, while the Olu of Warri, Delta State, should pray fervently in order to survive the year 2010.

“Kidnappers and ritual killers would take-over the country and this would lead to a revolution and the emergence of a God sent leader.”

In a related development, the Pastor of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele said there will be mixed blessing for the citizenry in the new year.

He added that the rich will have protracted problems with their wealth, while the poor would get poorer if they are not prayerful as there is no indication for economic stability in the country.

Speaking further with the Saturday Tribune at the church’s premises on the new year day, he said, President Yar’Adua would return to the country very soon, but that the ailing president would be faced with a lot of political crisis, especially from his party members in the PDP and other prominent Nigerians who were dissatisfied with the on-going political situation in the country.

Accordingly he said, “God told me that Vice-President Jonathan Goodluck will not be allowed to be president in the event that President Umaru Yar’Adua can not continue as result of ill-health and he would not be allowed to get a ticket for re-election in the 2011 general elections and that the citizenry should pray against the incidents of bomb scare Aso Rock, Presidential Villa.
“In the new year there will be rumour of military coup while all the service chiefs will be removed.

UPDATE (Dec. 26th, 11:32am): Sahara Reporters claims to have uncovered details about the flight 253 suspect.

He is the son of the recently retired Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Umaru Abdul Mutallab.

The Al-Qaida-linked Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab is an engineering student at University College London. Saharareporters sources have revealed that prior to his sojourn in the UK, Farouk had studied at the prestigious British School of Lome, Togo. Where he passed his International Bacchalaureates Diploma before moving to UCL.

The younger Muttallab lives in a £4 million pounds apartment in Central London, although he is only a student. The apartment, Flat 16, no 2 Mansfield Street in London, W1G9NE is registered to a US company and has been raided by UK security agents today.

Family sources that declined to be named told Saharareporters that in 2008, Farouk has left the London school and frequented Yemen. He told his friends and relatives that he wanted to study Arabic, a decision that came after he reportedly met Islamic radical elements in London.

Travel / Re: Uk Phone Service: Contract Or 'pay As You Go'? by 1honeybee: 9:58pm On Sep 28, 2009
For international fone calls on the go,

lebara mobiles

If you talk or text alot(within the uk), i'm sure u'll find deals with orange, t-mobile, 3network, vodafone and o2

3 network, can be annoying . i think they're got limited network coverage in some places or something

flex on t-mobile is ok if u want to make some international call to some countries but its about 40/min, lebara mobile will sort that out for less

all in all, i prefer contract deals to PAYG.

if you dont want contract hassle, u can go for a sort of one month contract sim which gives u some advantages over PAYG and u can quit wenever u want by giving them a month notice or so
