Re: Do Pastors Fall Sick? by 4getme1(m): 1:56pm On Sep 20, 2006
@michy, you rock!! cheesy

Second appeal @Seun: is there a way that you could upgrade the emoticons to include some winks? I think Mukina2 wants us to confirm whether we are cowards or liars (whichever applies) as men, by winking with our eyes. (Now, I wonder what applies to women - esp babes as young as muki-babe ). Let me see: a philosopher once said that men will resort to lies as a last resort; but with women, a lie is first-aid. So, give us some 'plaster emoticons' as well, you hear me?? Enjoy!! cheesy grin

@Mukina,
Seriously, speaking, that dude who did this to you must have done something really bad. I will tell you the truth so listen and listen well. If you die with such grudge against men (or the man). You will have no where to go but hell which is why we are preaching the message of the CROSS to you.

Jesus said "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
It is my prayer that you will begin to see the Light Of God in your life. kiss

Re: Do Pastors Fall Sick? by pilgrim1(f): 4:31pm On Aug 08, 2007
Pastors are human beings like every other person with flesh and bones. We find in the WORD that even notable believers were sick -

Epaphroditus: (Philp. 2:25 & 26)
"For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick"

Trophimus: (2Tim. 4:20)
"Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick."

Timothy: (1 Tim. 5:23)
"Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities."

That even other believers can sometimes experience sickness is clearly given in James 5:14 & 15 - and we can rejoice that such can be healed through the prayer of faith -- "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."

Believers do not glorify sickness; but the idea that Christians can NEVER experience sickness is not what Scripture teaches us. Some people have stretched that idea to mean that any Christian who ever falls sick is either not born again, or is not exercising faith in Christ! That is simply not true - or the same could be said of those believers mentioned earlier in the verses above.

It is a common experience for our body of flesh, blood and bones to experience sickness; but it is not something that we all look for in expectation, nor make the daily experience of our lives. God desires that His children be healthy and live rejoicing in His goodness - whatever the circumstances. When Jesus returns, our bodies shall be changed to be fashioned like unto His glorified Body - not subject to any sickness at all, nor even death (Philp. 3:21).

First and fore most,

Divine health is part of the new covenant:
Some step into it (because they know it and accpet it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Secondly,

Properity is also like Divine health:
Some step into it (because they know it and accept it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Thridly,

Salvation is just like Prosperity and Divine Health
Some step into it (because they know it and accept it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Fourthly,

Power over sin is Just like Salvation, Prosperity and Divine Health:

Some step into it (because they know it and accept it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Fifthly,

The in filling of the Holy Spirit is like Power over sin
Some step into it (because they know it and accept it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Sixthly,

Power over demons is like the In filling of the Holy spirit

Some step into it (because they know it and accept it)
Some don't step into it (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about it
Some don't care about it.

Seventhly,

Every other promise of the new covenant is as all mentione above

Some step into them (because they know them and accept them)
Some don't step into them (though they know, but somehow they don't have faith)
Some don't even know about them
Some don't care about it.

Finally,

Forgive my repeatations, I just want to communicate in a style.

And don't forget, not all those who "defended" Jesus, God, Bible or even their church will be saved, but those who humbled themselves and trusted the Saviour with their lives.  Jesus is alive and well, making sinners to become saints.

Beloved, have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?  Are you yet delivered from sin? Is your name written in the Book of Life? Repent and believe the gospel. Shalom

The ones who know their God (and do exploits) and do not gt sick but only get tired. You dont ever see them on a sick bed, they only sleep and wake up for 20 years without a single dose of drugs. I am a living testimony to that it is ot hear say. Divine health is real and you can live without falling sick if you know your God.

But it is not for baby christains anyway.
Re: Do Pastors Fall Sick? by mnwankwo(m): 9:17pm On Sep 12, 2007
It is erroneous to assume that good health is a sign of being a christian. Any person who still wears the physical body can fall sick and it has nothing in most cases to do with his or her spiritual state. There are evil people that are healthy, their are also those that are unhealthy. Similarly, their are God fearing people that are healthy and others that are afflicted with one sickness or the other. Good health is a consequnce of several factors. Those who are blessed with good health should rightly thank God but it will be wrong to assume that others not so blessed in that direction are still immature in their service to God. The ways of God is simple and yet more complex than can be deciphered. Strange as it may sound, some cases of sickness are actually a blessing. Some people are sick all throuigh their life and yet leave to a very ripe old age, while others never experience sickness and the first sickness leads to death or infirmity. Wheather healthy or sick, a true servant of God should be thankful for the experience he is permitted to undergo even when it is unpleasant. If he really have faith, then his sickness can be healed by the power of God or he comes to the recognition that the sickness is necessary for his own development. Not all sickeness are meant to be healed.

I acquisce.

m_nwankwo:

Affliction of God fearing people (i will assume you mean children of God) by sickness can be baseed on this fact:

There are two levels of the Children of God; a) Those who know their God and b) those who dont.

a) Knowledge of God in this category means those who have been able to grow their faith spiritually to the level of God's kind of faith and also know God's provision concerning health and healing and welfare in the overall package of salvation. Salvation is a package of gifts just like a typical wedding gift. Until, you open the gift pack, you wont know and therefore be able to enjoy what gift it is. You must first know that the gift exists and then also know how to use it.

There are several scriptures that promises health divine, but knowing them in your head is one and agreeing your spirit man with it is another thing before the mixed with faith. When mixed with faith and obedience to God and you know the promises, you cant miss it. Before it settles, you will tell it to go and it shall obey you. See Dan. 11:32.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. The knowldge is not had knowledge but undrstanding the spirit behind the word.
b) If you do not know God, though you are serving him, when sickness comes, it will stay.
c)When children of God sin, it also brings sickness attimes. Remember, sickness only came in when man sinned.

It is also important to note that, though we have power over sickness, the children of God must also live a good life and fulful good health/living habits so as not to test God. By doing that, you are leaving no room to the enemy.

True, when a man of God falls sick, he must ask himself what is the sourc of this scikness. Is i God's will, if yes, then let it have its course, if not, it must be driven out. If he has sinned, he must confess and seek forgivness because, the curse causless shall not arise

A scripture that i have used in praying for people on their sickbed who experienced instant healing is Psalms 18:44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
. And it has worked wondrs because i use it strong faith.

Lol. . . I know the reality of divine health. But nobody can argue against the reality of Scripture. I've dealt with this issue before to point out that several MATURE
servants of the Lord experienced illness at one time or the other: (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-22923.128.html#msg1370196). Those of us who enjoy long periods of health should be thankful to God for His sovereignty - but our experience does not mean that Pastors do not fall sick, or that only baby Christians do. wink

Yes, we should thank God for his sovereignty truly but mind you, with the numerous promises in the scripture, God is telling us that falling sick is now by choice and not in his plan for us except if it is from God himself for the purpose of trial of faith or sickness unto death.

I yarn for more please.
