illinois: I know some schools are that expensive (Penn State, Boston, JHU, etc). Can you afford it? Are the fellowships, assistantships, etc that you can secure after your first semester? There is always a way. I guess your school is IIT (from your user name) right? |

@ house, I guess the spring cycle has ended on a good note. I've learnt a lot from some people's cases, especially masepat that was denied previously due to insufficient funds and later got it without any hassle. Kwizzy was also put on AP, and my beloved friend, savemysoul, whose case was exceptional. I wish them the best in their endeavours. The struggle truly continues. I think we can officially announce the beginning of the fall 2011 cycle now. So peeps, how far with your applications? Any admits? Any challenges? I'm sure the gurus in the house are ever ready to respond. Kudos to femilangy once again for starting this successful thread. The thread will be 2 years old in a couple of weeks. Please I need to reach kev-d. If anyone has his email add or YIM I'd, please holla me- superbrainnl@gmail.com Let the fall cycle begin! |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by masepat: 3:17am On Jan 18, 2011 |
Superbrain: Superbrain, I was not denied visa because of insufficient funds. I would not have gone to the embassy with a bank statement that has an amount less than what was required. I was denied because my sponsor was not my biological parent. The consular felt that no aunt would pay $40,000+ for a relative who is not directly her child. I got further documentations to make my case more convincing, requested for an emergency appointment, was interviewed at a different post, and got my visa. Before now, I tried but in vain to get kev-d's contact details. I am sure he would be in his 3rd semester in UP now. 4ril, How do I contact you? House, Trust everyone is going great. The cold for here no be beans!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by illinois: 5:37am On Jan 18, 2011 |
@omofavor, i was admitted to UIC but chose a diff place, na iit u dey? my guy is coming there soon (maybe 17k/year), champaign, u nko? |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by Superbrain(m): 6:26am On Jan 18, 2011 |
@ masepat, sorry about the misconception. I actually wanted to say that the consular thought you had insufficient funds(not believing an aunt would spend that much still amounts to that). I know you must have tried reaching Kev-d too. I just hope he gets to see my post real soon. @ Illinois, UIUC is a great school. What course are you in for? You may be able to get funding if you impress any of your professors after a semester or two (for masters and PhD). Don't bug yourself. Like omofavour said, there will always be a way. |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 12:17pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
they require a TEAS score, i don't have time to write exams which is the reason am writing SAT and having a tough time getting schools that accepts just toefl, the ISU has potential though the website was a bit contradictory sha, the deadline for internationalstudents for fall is june 1, for spring nov 1, on another page,it stated that prospective nursing students should submit their applications and all by september 2010, that page was last updatedthat september last year though, should i ignore that and just follow the deadlinegiven to int'l students?, thanks for your time, |
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 12:19pm On Jan 18, 2011 |

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by seedord247(m): 12:40pm On Jan 18, 2011 |
ISU does not require most of the exams you mention including Toefl the only help i could do for now is to help you contact International Recruiting/Services & Study Abroad Specialist regarding what you mention nevertheless i will search for more schools today and get back to you.
