Dear Nairalanders, This is my first time here though my husband is always on this forum 24 hours. I always admire the kind of advice people get here. Our marriage is about a year plus now and we have a very sweet and handsome baby boy. He was 6 months old last week. I missed my "show" last month and I just confirmed I am pregnant again. I am thinking of doing something "funny" but my husband is seriously against it. Is it not too early to have another baby as my boy is still breastfeeding? What should I do in this case please.

If the gyn says its OK for her and shes ready for it,why not 
Though i think the hubby is being quite inconsiderate by asking her to just go ahead and have it as if its so easy to have babies.
Assuming,her 6-month old baby were twins,wetin we go talk?
Its not too bad anyway,before her delivery date,i believe the first son wud be a big boy.

If she had a pretty uneventful pregnancy first time around,there should be no fear (in most cases).

@ Poster, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong in this. My older bro is just 18 months older than me, which means our mother was pregnant with me when he was just 9 months old. Not exactly the same scenario, but quite similar you will agree. And today, almost 3 decades later, nothing do us!

One good thing about it is the closeness it brings between the siblings. Now, my bro and I do so many things in common, - common friends, hang out together, . . . When people meet us for the first time, they ask if we're twins!

there is nothing wrong with it. you wouldn't be the first or the last this has happened to. it does happen. so go ahead and have the baby if you desire

maybe next time, you could consider using a contraception, most of the contraceptives don't affect you or the baby during breastfeeding. so maybe you doctor could recommend the mini pills or other forms of contraceptives that will be suitable for you.

***A little question, shouldnt there be an award 4 dis? Or is there anytin quicker? Say 3months or even 2months after giving birth.

Congratulations. My sister is 15 months older than I am so my mom was in the same situation as you are (+ she had a 3 year old when she was pregnant with me!). I know someone who got pregnant when the 1st was 3 mths old but she was over the moon as she had the 1st thru IVF and they had been trying for years.

Personally I wouldn't have an abortion even if I found out 6 weeks after giving birth. If you are only worried about your 1st one being young and breast feeding; all other things being equal, I'm sure you will be fine. However, I've heard that the breast milk starts to taste funny with hormonal changes so you may want to find out about how long to breastfeed for.

I found out I was pregnant again when my 1st was 14 months; though wasn't planned it wasn't actively prevented either and if I knew I would have been pregnant so soon, with hindsight; would have done it when she was about 6 months too. If you are not planning to have any more, look on the bright side, you can relax after this one and focus on raising your children and on the other hand, how ever many you want to have; you are getting closer to the number.

Please do not do anything "funny".  I went through same experience two years ago; I had a seven month old baby and I got pregnant.  Now I have two adorable kids.  It is not that bad but a lot of stress taking care of both.  Please see your Gyn, I think you should stop breasfeeding (pls confirm this).  I did stop.

Consider this as a special gift from God.

Believe me many couples are out there praying and fasting everyday looking for a fruit of a womb all to no avail.

Can you realy tell the number(s) of fruit in your womb?, please don't do anything stupid that could invoke God's wrath on you.

Note that the sweetness of love made it happen. Therefore, see the preg as a gift of love. So, the child should be named LOVE. _{joke joke, naming ceremony don start on NL be dat o.}

What is something funny? My son was 5 months old when I got pregnant with my 2nd son here in the US. No help and working a full time job, running a business and my husband was working full time and going to school full time. It is not that serious. I am sure I am not the only person that went through that. You and your husband have to make plans on how you will schedule your time.

DONT DO ANYTHING FUNNY, it happened to my Bro wife but they keep the baby. The little girl has now grown up and she's beautiful, we all like her.

my dear, there is just no need for you to panic and do something funny to GOD:s gift after all your husband is in support of it.though i know it wont be easy but the the lord will strenthern you.but i think the appropraite thing to do is for you to stop breast feeding your baby at once so that the baby wont get sick.you just dont worry about a thing cos everything will work out just fine for you.congratulation!!!
