Barcelona Livewire Andres Iniesta Declared Fit After 100 Days Andres Iniesta has been given the green light to return to action after spending the entire summer recuperating from an injury. Barcelona medics told the midfielder that he was fully fit after a round of tests on Wednesday morning saw him come through without any problems. On May 10, Iniesta suffered a small tear in his thigh but he played through the pain to help the Blaugrana win the Champions League in Rome later that same month. That encounter saw his condition worsen slightly and the Barca favourite has had to forego his summer holidays in order to regain his fitness. As well as missing out on pre-season training, Iniesta was also unable to play for Spain in the Confederations Cup in June or the World Cup qualifiers that are taking place this week. Barca have also been busy without their star as they have won the Supercopa de Espana against Athletic Club and claimed the UEFA Super Cup last month with victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in Monaco. Iniesta will be named in Pep Guardiola's squad for the game against Getafe at the weekend, but it is unlikely that he will start. http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2009/09/09/1489966/barcelona-livewire-andres-iniesta-declared-fit-after-100 |

BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS!! BREAKING NEWS!!! Real Madrid Voted Club Of The Century A study has crowned Real Madrid as the best club between 1901 and 2001, Real Madrid have been named as the best club of the 20th century after an exhaustive study by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). The Spanish giants finished out in front of Juventus, who were second, while Barcelona, Milan and Bayern Munich completed the top five in the historic record books. In recent seasons the IFFHS have judged clubs in order of merit, but have only done so in the Club World Ranking that began in 1991. Demand was high for a ranking based on titles won, placings in competitions and other factors over the entire 20th century, and now the IFFHS have explained how they reached their conclusion. "For some years now, the IFFHS has been asked by clubs, sports journalists and fans to determine the clubs of the century for the individual continents but on a realistic basis without imaginary values and subjective influences," the statement on the IFFHS website explains. "The rankings published so far have been based on the number of titles won or placings or marathon tables in competitions. "Because the Club World Ranking (by IFFHS) has been determined monthly only since January 1991, it cannot be used as the basis for determining the club of the century. "The IFFHS has decided these continental clubs of the century and with it continental rankings of century to determine exclusively on the base of individual match results of the continental club competitions. "The national competitions are merely a prerequisite to qualify for the continental club competitions. Intercontinental club competitions were not taken into consideration." A point system saw clubs rewarded for their performances in the Champions League, UEFA Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup, Mitropa Cup, Copa Latina and the European Super Cup. Below are the top ten clubs of the 20th century: Points Club 563.50 Real Madrid 466.00 Juventus 458.00 FC Barcelona 399.75 AC Milan 399.00 Bayern Munich 362.00 Inter 332.75 Ajax 300.25 Liverpool 299.00 Sporting Lisbon 231.00 Anderlecht CATALUNYANS WILL ALWAYS TRAIL US. |

Krayola2:Barcelona chief admits Real Madrid signings took away Treble glory Barcelona public relations chief Manel Estiarte admits the summer signings made by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez took some of the attention they deserved for winning the Treble last season. "It is true that we could have enjoyed the Treble more, but it will be with us forever," he said. "Florentino stole the Treble feeling for us, this experience. "We are not concerned about the arrival of Florentino, we have extra motivation." http://www.tribalfootball.com/barcelona-chief-admits-real-madrid-signings-took-away-treble-glory-306591 |

Barca are a very modest club when it comes to PR. We make our noise on the pitch!! Madrid is all hype. Bloody Noise makers. Word of Advice though. . .Tribalfootbll is the National Enquirer of football, keep quoting them and all u'll do is embarrass urself, over and over again. This is the actual interview. Estiarte:”We can continue dreaming” Head of FC Barcelona external relations, Manuel Estiarte, assured the press that not even Josep Guardiola knows whether he will continue his coaching job at Barca in 2010. Guardiola With Pep Guardiola`s contract expiring in the 30th of June, 2010, Estiarte, who maintains a great relation with the Barca coach, did not clear the doubts about Guardiola`s future although he added that he believes he would be staying for years to come. Ibrahimovic The ex water polo legend also commented that Ibrahimovic was always the “first option” for FC Barcelona. “Pep has long been following Ibrahimovic and admires big players. And Zlatan for his part was only keen to join Barca”, added Estiarte. Eto`o Estiarte also clarified some aspect of the Samuel Eto’o sale:”The people been interpreting the Eto`o case a lot and I heard many claim that there was a bad relationship between Guardiola and Eto`o. The truth, however, was this: Pep felt that changes had to be done after such an important year”. Dream continues Winning so many trophies was “very positive” experience for the team, but there are also “dangers”, pointed Estiarte. “The peril is in complacency but we are happy because so far we haven`t seen signs of it. The technical staff are doing a good, or even better, job with training and we can continue dreaming”. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tribal is full of shit. Quote them at ur peril |

Nice 'abridged' version you have there, excluding the comment about perez and madrid. source? A more detailed version in spanish is here (from Barca's own Sport), http://www.sport.es/default.asp?idpublicacio_PK=44&idioma=CAS&idnoticia_PK=643260&idseccio_PK=803 Relevant section in spanish: LA LLEGADA DE FLORENTINO PÉREZ II “Es cierto que la llegada de Florentino ‘apagó’ el triplete, pero también es cierto que el triplete estará ahí por siempre, es histórico y será inolvidable”, evaluó el Premio Planeta al Deporte, y concluyó “Florentino no nos sacará el triplete ni la experiencia vivida”. Google translation: The arrival of Florentino Perez II "It is true that the arrival of Florentino 'switched off' the hat trick, but it is also true that the triplet will be there forever, is historic and unforgettable", evaluated the Premio Planeta Sport, and concluded "Florentino not get us out the triplet or lived experience. " I had checked other sources before quoting tribalfootball. I just didnt want to post Google translations |

No time to waste as our value/worth would always speak volume for us in the field of play.they can only dwell on Adam and Eve era's records. i do not pay serious attention to how many point madrid had last two seasons,of course barca would have set a new record in laliga last season but that could have cause us the incomparable and historical treble we gat last season.we dont want to break or set new records for record sake, effective planning is what brought the treble and we have already added two trophies and we aint done yet,cos we are looking good to shock the world this season.my people we have a difficult away game tomorrow, what do u all think our formation would looks like considering the fact that our stars are just retuning from their national assignment?Barca for life jare. |

Márquez given green light to play Rafa Márquez has been given the green light to start playing again four months after he last played in an official encounter. The Mexican central defender has been training with the rest of the squad in recent days, but it was not until he came through Thursday evening’s session unscathed that the club’s medics announced that he could be chosen for the squad to face Getafe this weekend. http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/noticies/futbol/temporada09-10/09/n090910106677.html |
