hi all smiley

I wanted to share my story with you ladies. I have been pregnant 4 times, i had 3 miscarriges and finally my fourth pregnancy i had a baby boy, G-d is wonderful. I just want to encourage everyone and let you know that you will have your Little one, G-d will definetly see you through and give you the fruitfullness of the womb. All you ladies ttc have you been to your doctor to be tested because infirtility is not suspected unless you have been ttc for 1 year or more. Also some common problems when ttc are not found in the woman it could be the mans fault. When ttc you should try to find what the problem is some common problems are:
1.) PCOS or irregular menstral period for this problem you can (take an ovulation drug called clomid)
2) not having sex when you are most fertile in the month ( count 14 days after you period has ended have sex on cycle day 14 rest on day 15 and have sex on day 16) its important to have sex during this time frame because that is when you are ovulating
3.)you help your body be more fertile after you ovulate you can take progesterone supplements cycle day 17 and on this will help the fertilized egg to grow and implant into your uterus, this is important because it can reduce the rate of miscarriage
4.) If you can afford it or your husband has low sperm count you may want to try IVF or other AFR procedures

I apologise if this info has been a repeat but the thread is so long i could not read through all 39 pgs

Well, I beg to disagree with that bold part. I would have kept quiet but for the sake of other innocent people TTCing, let me respond to this once again. I beleive its not cast in concrete that you must ovulate on day 14 or midcycle. . . .
We have seen cases where a woman ovulates on day 6, 7 or as late as day 23 or 24. Each woman has different body system.
So in essence, if the husby is strong enough and there is no suspision of low sperm count, go ahead and baby dance every day, and I mean every day or at worst every other day. It increases the chance of conception.

@sogotemi yes you are correct every woman is differene and some can ovulat cycle day 19,20 etc, but the majority of women will ovulate cycle day 14. smiley

@shiloh malta guiness should not cause this heavy flow, you should go back to the doctor to look into this further if you like or it could simply be a heavy period you got this time around

Hello everyone, especially Gen Buhari.Been an ardent reader of this thread but barely contributed.Me and my wife have been TTCing since 06.Ours is a "funny" story as she got pregnant in 05 which we aborted due to the fact we were not ready then. undecided Unfortunately since then, nothing has been happened again. We have battled everything, from infection to blocked tubed, after which she did what the doctor termed "flushing".

OK so the latest there's a male factor i.e low sperm count which i am ready to fight out rather than invest in IVF.i have been on fertility blend for male for more than 30days now(doctor advised i exhaust a period of 90days before any new test).I will appreciate of anyone with deeper knowledge advise on what more can be done and also where can i get Broccoli in Lagos?

Thanks and may all TTC achieve their aim this year.

@kafng
How old are you ?

How tall are you ?

and how much do you weigh?

Do you do night work

Do you sit down for long periods as part of your work?

Have you been tested for the level of the hormone testosterone?

How much do you drink weekly

Do you smoke?

How often are you ejaculating?

What I am trying to get at, is that all the above factors may influence your sperm count.
Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by kafng: 7:06pm On May 19, 2011
Thanks for gettin back Gen,and to your questions, here are the answers tot he best of my knowledge.

How old are you ?32

How tall are you ?6ft

and how much do you weigh?i flunctuate between 89-95kg these days.

Do you do night work.No but i am not the type that sleeps well really. So i do late night movies on my laptop quite often.Sleep around 3am more often than not and i am up by 8 to face the days job.

Do you sit down for long periods as part of your work?Yes but i have been watching this recently.I take time in "freeing" myself for at least 15 mins after every 2hrs of sitting down.

Have you been tested for the level of the hormone testosterone?Yes,and everything was perfect, but my doctor still placed me on Proviron, which i think is a hormonal drug

How much do you drink weekly:i drink maybe approximately 8 weeks out of the 52 weeks of the year.Unless there is an occasion for it,i do not touch alcohol.

Do you smoke?I am an occassional smoker. If i am in a cold region yea i do 2 sticks per day and that shouldn't be for more approximately 8 weeks outta the 52 weeks in the year too

How often are you ejecting? If you mean how much do i have sex,it depends on so many things, but lets just say twice in the month,It could be more in some months but it's never been less.

And yeah i am an exercise junkie. The type that spends at least 2 hrs in the gym almost everyday so i can boldly say i am physically OK.

Let me know if you will like to know more.

Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Nobody: 12:41pm On May 20, 2011
@kafng,

Regarding locating broccoli, abiop and ivynwa have posted previously that Goodies Supermarket in lagos sells it.

Here are the possible areas of concern:
1)
Your Dr says that your testosterone level is good yet it appears he has prescribed  you an oral testosterone supplement.
I am not a Doctor but if I were you , I would immediately discontinue taking this medication and seek immediate 2nd medical opinion.

I know that taking any type of testosterone would shut down your bodies ability to produce testosterone and your testicle would shrink away which I  imagine would definitely further degrade its capacity to produce sperm.

2)
Lack of sleeps affects testosterone levels, raises cortisel levels which is stress hormone which is bad for sperm production
Try to get at least 6-8 hours sleep every night.

3)
Sitting down for long periods as part of your job,  may overheat your testicles, and could affect their production of sperm and testosterone.
I suggest you stop wearing underwear and wear loose fitting trousers.
Also try to sit in a manner that allows you testicles to have space to breathe, consider sitting on the edge of your seat and make sure your thighs are not too close together.
When at home just wear a wrap with no underwear (assuming you live alone with your wife otherwise you may have to be careful  smiley)

4)
Physically you are in good shape.
However it is possible to overdo exercising and gym to the extent that it lowers testosterone levels ,
I suggest keeping gym sessions to no more than 20 - 30mins of high intensity workout with very heavy weights (heavy enough that you would not be able to do more than 6 reps at a time).

5)
Try to quit smoking all together

6)
When you do drink ensure it is not excessive

I have some more questions for you :

a) How long have you been taking Proviron?

For what reason did the doctor prescribe it?

Did he give you the actual measurement for your testostrone level (with range)?

b)
When u had your sperm counted,  what was the actual figure?
Was it done in the morning?
Did you produce the sample at home or at the clinic?
How long after producing sample did it take before it was submitted to clinic for testing?
prior to giving sample, how many days were you abstinent from ejac.ulation?

Do you m.asturbate on days you do not have sex?

Is there any reason you are not having sex more often than twice per month?

I only just stumbled on this discussion and i felt maybe i could get some help with my problem;i actually had my baby about 10years ago and since then,i had not conceived for a day;it had never really bothered me until in recent times and am now at a loss as to where to start from.
