I just stumble into reading this thread. Aside from the medical point of view that many have raised, i will like to say that miscarraige and conception that many experience are seen but do not think that they are important. YOUR DREAM LIFE IS YOUR MIRROR. Many keep having this repeated dream when things happen to them.

Try this prayer for one hour before you sleep for 7 days. EVERY DREAM ABORTING MY CONCEPTION AND BLOCKING MY CHILD BEARING SHOLUD DIE. IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

baby dust to all.

I stumble on this thread unknowingly and been a fertility surgeon I think its proper to let you Ladies know that when you have any problem with fertility or conception or questions the best person to talk to is a fertility expert not a Gyn.
And you can talk to me for education and enlightenment.
And if need be consultation .

Since May this year, l have been having scanty periods, l went for pelvic scan in June,  result showed  *suggestive feature  of early pregancy'.to repeat scan in 2wks time.  last week when l supposed to start another period, l was spoting, and later l was passing out thick bloods, without any abominal pain. went for scan it said,NO PREGANCY.  l have had about 3 miscarriages for the past 4 years of trying.  Do you think  l miscarried again?  and what is the cause of this change in my period. Again, l noticed that from cycle day 21 l will start spoting dirty blood, this started since this year.  I have excellent scan result, no fibroid, no cycst.

@udoka2
I'm really sorry to hear this, sad to say, yes you miscarried again and the reasons for this can vary for several reasons ranging from Hormone imbalance to weakness of the uterine walls.
A thorough physical examination will reveal a lot.
And as we commonly do where I train we close yp the cervix to help reduced the effect of pressure on the pregnancy . And I might need to ask a couple of personal questions too.

GUys,

It is well.Been TTc since 2005,succeeded in 2009 but had a mc at 18 weeks.Never conceived since then,my FS has suggested ovarian drilling or ivf ,i prefer ivf cos the last thing i think i need right now is any form of surgery ,had a cardiac arrest in the theartre in 2009.

Looking at the ivf route, thought of going abroad but i hear there are good centres here too.

Does anyone know anything about St Ives?Have you heard anything about the doc there (Tunde Okewale) and his practice.

Please any input will be appreciated.

Love & Baby dusts to all

@Ketuba, definitely there very sound IVF centers in Nigeria.
But there are a couple of things you should know before elective IVF, Inbox me.
First we want to check the reason for the last MC and as well as find out the state of your uterus, and supporting organs,
And the success of your IVF depends on a lot of factors.

First i'll advise you both take care of the infection .
The only sure test of pregnancy is a Pregnancy test using blood specimen,
Some of the symptoms you describe are non-specific. But never say never.
And after treating your infection please do a confirmatory test to be sure you have complete clearance.
Mail me as it progresses.oth take care of the infection .

A definitive pregnancy test will reveal if you are pregnant or not.
I'd advise that do a PT rather than wait for you to have a missed period.

If your husband was treated for Low Sperm count has there been a further test to confirm an improvement in his sperm count?
And were you checked to see if you have any changes or anything that needs to be treated.
Please I need to sound a note of warning Clomid is a strong drug with the potential side effect of reducing the thickness of the Uterine wall. I will advise you TTC ladies to go slow on its use please.
I ordinarily don't use Clomide. I go more potent Fertility drugs especially the injectables.
Expensive though but verybeffective.
See a fertility surgeon if you need any clarification please.

Why does clomid cause a thin uterine wall linning? Just wondering .A lot of gynaes do not tell their patients that and when some of them are lucky to get pregnant, they miscarry,a lot of TTc ladies do not know a thick uterine wall is necessary for sustaining a preg,a friend of mine who tested +ve to preg via ivf was told later that the result was -ve again and the exuse they gave her was because the linning of her womb was thin,US specialists insist on having an 8mm uterine wall before even conceving.

I know a Dr in Us who will not treat you until he can build your uterine linning to at least 9mm.

I know a Dr in Us who will not treat you until he can build your uterine linning to at least 9mm.

The Standard thickness is 9mm but any uterine wall less than 7mm is not viable to sustain pregnancy to term.
The growth if the wall is in response to Oestrogen.

Clomid is first line Ovulation induction therapy.
Its very effect but its an anti Estrogen so it should only be use on the recommendation of a Doctor.
There are other ovulation induction drugs though not in the same class as Clomid.

Clomid, an anti-estrogen drug, can block the
stimulation of estrogen on the uterine lining and
what results is a thin uterine lining.
Using Clomid for more than three months consecutively will almost assuredly result in a thinning of the endometrium( Uterine Wall). Age causes a natural thinning of
the uterine lining which is why women over
the age of 40 rarely conceive on Clomid. Clomid
can, after prolonged use, reverse its effects
and act as a contraceptive regardless of the
age or ovarian response of the woman.

hi dr. thanks for ur infomation pls does polyp in womb really affect fertility?
Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by drhaastrup1: 11:09pm On Jul 27, 2011
Ifyemma:

hi dr. thanks for your infomation pls does polyp in womb really affect fertility?
Uterine polyps are soft growth on the wall of the uterus . They are soft and pendoulous.
The main difference between uterine polyps and uterine fibroids is that fibroids are composed of muscle tissue and polyps are made of endometrial tissue.
Polyps can regress but fibroid does not.
Uterine polyps can act like a natural intrauterine device (IUD), preventing a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterine wall. They can also block the area where the fallopian tube connects to the uterine cavity, preventing sperm from traveling into the tube to meet the egg. Similarly, they can block the canal of the cervix, which would prevent sperm from entering the uterus at all.
Polyps may also play a major role in miscarriage
for some women.

osiyemia:

Hi dr,is it advisable to remove your blocked tube or clip it for ivf
First your Fertility Surgeon has to determine the extent of blockage, and tubal surgery will also depend on the age of the woman.
Since IVF is still the only option whatever microsurgery that is done does not affect it.
But I usually do clipping and not removal unless there's an indication for it. But some would rather just do a complete removal of the tube.
What's commonly done in Nigeria is tubas removal but where I trained we have come to see the psychological advantage of clipping or anastomosis. So for me its a treatment of choice .
