thanks bro.

I will post pics tomorrow or Saturday. I get home late from work.

my dish is 90 cm. bought that on baba twins recommendation.

I fixed the lnb there but strangely its not giving a single %.

actually the thing is when I got the multitv/ dstv its so fickle that the slightest movement of the dish the signal will disappear....

I think I will bring down the dish because its wall mounted to look for somewhere more comfortable.

I'm guessing my error is that I am trying to track it without moving the dish. after getting dstv and multi tv i tightened up the azimuth. and tried moving the lnb for amos 5 manually a bit hoping to lockin.

maybe I should try tracking amos 5 alone with the whole dish to see the position first.......

from ur explanation, I advise u not to touch ur dish but rather work on ur dstv and multi tv lnbs by turning it a little. Thanks

Hello gurus please.
I wanna shift my 4.4 meter dish from nilesat to badr6 so as to get jsc+ 1 to 10
Please is this possible here in lagos
Re: Newbie In Satellite Installation: Introduce Yourself Here With Your Problems by microgiant: 9:08am On Oct 04, 2013
@4llerbuntu,
You don't need to move your dish.
The procedure is
track Astra 2F @28.2E (MultiTV) after getting maximum signal,
tighten the dish screws, then track Eutelsat7 @ 36E, fix the LNB at maximum signal
last track Amos/W3C

Alternatively, you can use Amos/W3C as primary, Astra 2F comes on top Amos/W3C, then Eutelsat7 comes on top Astra 2F.

earthrealm: newbie question: I have dstv in my house...and I want to share the connection to other rooms in the house.......the house is wired for for tv connections ie each room has a tv cable port, presently my dish decoder is in the sitting room......

Get about 15 yards of coaxial cable, get about 10 F-connectors, 10 male tv plug (iron type),

Now cut out about 3 yards of cable or as needed. Affix an F-connector to one end and screw on to the port labelled ''RF out'' at the back of the decoder. Screw on an F-connector to the other end of the cable and also screw on one tv plug to it and plug in to the wall socket. (this effectively distributes the signals to the whole house. At the end of the day, if there is need to boost the signals, this is where you will put your signal amplifier).

Now what you do next is , go to each room, cut out about 3 or so yards of cable, affix one F-connector on each end. Screw on one tv plug on each of the F-connectors. Plug one end to the wall socket and the other to the back of the tv (antenna in port), search your tv like you are searching for NTA. And viola, its done.

Now repeat the same procedure in each room.

If the signal you're getting is not satisfactory, then you'll need to source for an ''20/25db alcad signal amp''.

NB: I believe there should be a junction box somewhere near the electrical control switch/distribution box. If the signals are not coming through, you might check here to see if the wires where joined.

If you get confused, come back for more.

Regards.

@ Microgiant and all.

this are the pictures of my present attempt to setup.

yesterday I loosened the dish to adjust the amos 5. I tracked it. got only daarsat channels. in the attempt work Around it for e16 I was unsuccessful. then I discovered I could not even get any sat again. even my dstv and multi tv were gone.

I tried for close to 2 hrs to no avail. so I decided to bring down the dish and look for a more comfortable place to hang it.

I decided to make the 3 lnb arrangement smarter and more presentable and did this In the picture.............. I hope the space between multi and dstv is not too much. it appears so to me.....

anyone who visits here pls tell me ur opinion before I hang it back. will do that by 1 pm to track again.

NB what could have caused the inability to get any sat again yesterday?. I checked and double checked all things. the cable, the lnb, the TP, ..all.....

@4llerbuntu

what you have done is great, but you are missing the critical point.
So, I will repeat it again:

1. Track MultiTV as the primary LNB, then get a maximum signal of 97% or at least above 90%.
How to do it? after getting the signal, adjust you dish little by little, up/down, right/left
while watching you screen to see where the signal increased and decreased, i.e. if you have 60% and move the dish up,
the signal should increase, but if if decrease, try moving it down, to see if it will increase.
If moving up and down the highest signal you can get is 60% leave it at that point, then try moving it left and then right,
checking also the point at which you get increased signal. You can still try the up and down movement at this point also
to see if the signal increases, then tighten your dish at that point. The next step is to loosen the LNB holder a bit and
turn the LNB clockwise and counter clockwise (this is called skewing) signal will increase or decrease, tighten it at maximum signal.
2. Search for the DSTV signal, when you get signal repeat what you did before, i.e. up/down, left/right and finally skewing to get the
maximum signal shouldn't be less than 80%.
3. Search for W3C, and repeat the process again, fix and tie at the maximum signal.

NOTE: You shouldn't adjust the dish again after getting MultiTV, for DSTV and W3C you only adjust the LNB (i.e. UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, turning LNB CLOCKWISE/COUNTERCLOCKWISE(Skewing).

Hope this helps? cool cool cool

I must thank you for your infinite patience.

1. Track MultiTV as the primary LNB, then get a maximum signal of 97% or at least above 90%.

The thing is:
Like i said i did this before...... so i get how it works....
problem is no matter how hard i try, i have never crossed 65% quality. believe me i have spent patient hours at this thing...

It has me wondering.... im using a 90CM dish with Fuji HD Lnb, and a No Name (FTA) box (for underhand reasons) .........
Perhaps My LNb or the box is deficient? as far as i can tell the box does ok. at 50% strength it does not freeze or crack at all.

im skeptical about those my Lnb. i have 4 of them. i opted for them thinking they were much better than ₦500 strong Lnbs. got them for ₦800 each. thinking about it critically i suspect its either them or the decoder thats giving me hassle

PS: To be fair, i checked my neighbors Professional SAT installer DSTV setup and found that they had 60% signal too (The chap used a SAT finder sef cheesy cheesy !!!)

THIS!!.

precisely why i have now put the Dish where its easy to do. TBH i think iv been doing this procedure exactly. what is strange tho is that the maximum spot is that 65% and for some weird reason i always have little margin for error! once i lock in, the slightest shake or movement and the signal is gone. and even marking the spot on the dish/pole is a waste of time

The next step is to loosen the LNB holder a bit and
turn the LNB clockwise and counter clockwise (this is called skewing) signal will increase or decrease, tighten it at maximum signal.

yes... unfortunately i guess this means i will remove this setup again. the LNBs are wired together here twisting one equals twisting the other.
i have to device another way it seems. the ready made 2-lnb wont help either. they suffer the same flaw

2. Search for the DSTV signal, when you get signal repeat what you did before, i.e. up/down, left/right and finally skewing to get the
maximum signal shouldn't be less than 80%.

Funny thing is, by the time i tried yesterday, i was unable to get Multi-Tv. tried for 20 minutes
crazy.
so i switched the cable to the upper one and nailed DSTV in 5 Minutes flat 60%. i gave up and tightened up. will manage that one like that till i get spare time again.

theoretically Multi-Tv Tp should be active now because all the times i ever tried to nail either with my joined LNB, once one pops up the other appears. not so yesterday..... it worked fine in the afternoon like that!!!

3. Search for W3C, and repeat the process again, fix and tie at the maximum signal.

NOTE: You shouldn't adjust the dish again after getting MultiTV, for DSTV and W3C you only adjust the LNB (i.e. UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, turning LNB CLOCKWISE/COUNTERCLOCKWISE(Skewing).

that W3c is just a numpty. not for once sef. got Daarsat on 17 once but again sgnal quality did not exceed 60%. Tried the moving and skewing to no avail.

Besides apparently the issue really is getting to attach the LNB. a purpose built holder would be nice but i dont know what measurements to use to fabricate one.

Hope this helps? cool cool cool

are you kidding.? you are like an FTA Angel. so much patience..... Thank you so very much for your time and effort.
learning can be difficult, but ultimately rewarding.

in all this i'm guessing what i really need is some first hand experience watching some one adept do it.

For avoidance of doubts, can you guys post the STRONGEST and EASIEST to track TPs for these Sats:

36 Deg EAST:

28.2 Deg EAST:

16 Deg EAST:

7 Deg EAST:

I have lots of TP i culled from various threads written down, but it appears a lot are either wrong or not easy to get.

For instance i recall that when i tried to get 16 Deg EAST, i eventually got signal on one TP. so i blindscanned and got the Daarsat channels.
however, the TP i got here ended with 30000, but when i blindscanned i saw the TP onscreen on the stations to be 30001

a precise list of the easy and confirmed TP would be handy for all newbies.

from what iv observed tho, it looks to me like a 4 LNB setup will be hard to get without a purpose-built holder. i no sabi sha.....

Well i can tell you one thing for sure. U need ti have the dish somewhère accessible where u can stand in front and work wìthout hassle.

The only sure one is multi tv and dstv. The space between them is approx 5 cm. And they are on a straight line.

well u have to be inventive. think outside the box. or get some aluminum maker or welder to fabricate stuff for u.

my example in the picture is actually copper wire cables twisted together and covered with black tape. I'm considering visiting some aluminum guy to make a holder but I need to make up my mind on what it will look like with the measurements.

just be creative. who knows u could show us the way. I tried creating a thread for this purpose but received no response.

my rough sketch ideas.
grin grin grin grin

no vex, i no be science student when i went to school many many years ago. and i was crap at Technical Drawing lipsrsealed

Material = thick but bendable aluminium.

will be curved at an angle i don't know... perhaps someone knows at what angle the holder should be curved?

should be fairly long.. (the sketch is not representative of the size!!!)

the LNB holder will be held by a screw through that groove that applies pressure... (didn't really think this part through grin grin. maybe the maker will have sound ideas on how to hold it) can be inserted via the top and the bottom depending on where ur targeting.
can be moved easily from side to side, up and down....

should not be too hard to make i guess...... two long pieces of aluminium. one cut in two and bent. holes drilled for screws or tack-bolted at the joints

the middle is bolted to the arm holding the LNB at the dish. will probably require a longer bolt than comes with the dish.

ideas? contributions?

NB. This sketch and device is patented!! if i see it in the market na kasala ooooo

@4llerbuntu I really love your spirit in moving this project. I just had a thought that if one can come out with a device like what you're trying to do that will make it easier to track d more popular satellites. there will be a huge market for it. as it will make it easier for people to track their favorite stations using one dish. Good job. if you get it right I Will be your first customer
