Why can't Africa be independent and trust in their ideals without being coerced to take certain routes?
I support the movement but what is Africa bringing to the table apart from being controlled ?

Leave “Africa/Africans” out of your mouth and stick with “Kenya/Kenyans. I’ll even let you reach to bant.

Shma2023:

This is a waft logic, and I will tell you why. India's Population is the world's largest. The comparison is not fair/ apples for apples. In terms of efficient economic production, China is the world's most powerful. Economic production affects GDP/ GNP in current prices, and SLIGHTLY affects GDP per head. That's why India is in the top 5 largest economies in the world and SA isn't. Seychelles has bigger GDP per capita than China, does that mean Seychelle's economic PRODUCTIVITY is more efficient than China's? The answer is a big NO!
To put it into a clear picture, China is ranked 64th in GDP per Capita Index. That is behind a whopping 63 nations despite her superiority in productivity.

Nonetheless, I get your point. At least you're not in denial that India's economic productivity is more efficient than that of SA.
India has the largest population in the world, if SA had the same population with iets current gdp per capita it would be the 3rd largest economy in the world....also China isn't far behind India wrt population so it is comparing apples with apples.

Yes Seychelle's population contribute more per person to their gdp than that of China.

I literally said the opposite, do you even comprehend bru?

It doesn't work like that, my friend. Population doesn't entirely equate to huge GDP! DRC is the case study.
However, huge mineral resources and efficient productivity does. I see what you did there, you multiplied your GDP by 23. The same logic will put Kenya 7th largest economy in the world. Per capita is a more logical argument in this regard. Your GDP per capita(since you have 23times less population than India) should be 2nd largest as well, but it isn't.

India exports top brains: software engineers, doctors, surgeons... Name them. What does SA export apart from platinum, Gold, iron ore, diamonds, and coal briquettes? SA is 5th largest mining sector in terms of GDP value. Your economy is predominantly built on Gold and diamonds. The reason you're now doing better in manufacturing is because of the aforementioned.

This is what minerals have done in SA:
Created a million jobs
Accounts for more than 20% of GDP
Account for 20% of foreign investment.
Attracted significant foreign savings
Accounts for more than 15% corporate tax receipt.
94% of electricity generation is via coal... Etc. Like minerals are the reason for your booming Economy. Currently, your mineral reserve is dwindling and your economy is stagnant.

China isn't far behind India: Correct! They are nearly the same. The discussion herein is about the vast difference in population and its influence on economic output. That's why I brought Seychelles vs China to counter-argue your waft logic.

Oh! So you were wrong.

Invade, the juntas will fold definitely.

They shouldn’t have kept the president alive, they doomed themselves to an invasion when they made that decision.

Tanzania's secret nuclear plans....

Tanzania's secret nuclear plan unveiled at global summit
Victor Oluwole
August 2, 2023 11:59 AM

Tanzania reveals its ambitious secret nuclear plan at the Second Russia-Africa Summit.
The plan aims to develop the nation's vast uranium reserves for economic growth and improved living standards.
In a momentous revelation at the Second Russia-Africa Summit, Tanzania, the East African nation renowned for its diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes, has emerged with an ambitious and previously undisclosed nuclear plan that could potentially shape the continent's future.

With the goal of bolstering economic growth, improving the quality of life for its citizens living below the poverty line, and securing its position as a prominent player in the global nuclear energy sector, Tanzania's intentions have captured the attention of the international community.

The announcement came forth from Tanzania's Minister for Minerals, Doto Biteko, during the 'Cooperation in Science and Technology' panel discussion titled 'Nuclear Technologies for the Development of the African Region.' The disclosure caught many by surprise, as the nation had been quietly laying the groundwork for its nuclear aspirations.

Central to Tanzania's plan is the development of its abundant uranium reserves, identified in various regions of the country, including Namtumbo (Mkuju), Bahi, Galapo, Minjingu, Mbulu, Simanjiro, Lake Natron, Manyoni, Songea, Tunduru, Madaba, and Nachingwea.

The successful adoption of nuclear technologies from other countries could expedite uranium exploration, leading to unprecedented growth in the nation's nuclear energy sector.

The news has ignited enthusiasm among Tanzanians and has also garnered the attention of global experts and leaders present at the summit.

Notably, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, expressed his confidence in Africa's potential for power generation capacity in the coming decades. According to him, Africa's rapid population growth and increasing energy demands have made the continent a focal point for nuclear energy development.

The implications of Tanzania's nuclear plan extend beyond the country's borders. Experts anticipate that this revelation will set a precedent for other African nations to explore nuclear energy as a sustainable and reliable solution for their energy needs.

The African continent, home to more than one billion people, is predicted to account for one-third of the world's population by 2050, and addressing its energy challenges is pivotal for achieving sustainable development.

Princess Mthombeni, Founder of Africa4Nuclear and a Nuclear Communication and Technology specialist in South Africa, highlighted the importance of embracing Russia's proposals to ensure Africa's sustainable development and the well-being of its youth.

The successful implementation of Tanzania's secret nuclear strategy could signify a paradigm shift in Africa's energy landscape, propelling the continent towards a brighter and more sustainable future.

Note: The summit concluded on a positive note, with African countries displaying interest in collaborating with Russia and adopting nuclear technologies to address their energy needs.

INVESTMENTPOLICY
Tanzania Has Attracted Over 20 Companies To Invest $20B In Carbon Credits

by

African nations are on the road to further benefiting from the voluntary carbon market. Tanzania announced last week that it has successfully attracted over 20 companies, expected to invest more than $20 billion, in carbon credits.

The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Dr Selemani Jafo, also added that since the country introduced in October 2022 the Environmental Management (Control and Management of Carbon Trading) Regulations – Tanzania’s first piece of legislation on carbon trading in the country, it has attracted more than $1 billion (Sh2.3 trillion). The investments will be mobilized annually through carbon trading across the nation.

The legal framework issued in the country on carbon trading aims to provide for the control and management of carbon credits projects in Tanzania. It is expected to discourage deforestation while encouraging citizens to capitalize on the available potential. By embracing environmentally friendly projects, Tanzania, as well as other African nations, have the unique opportunity to attract investment, create jobs, and contribute to economic growth.

The 20 companies that have agreed to invest in carbon projects in the country are from Kenya, Russia, Singapore, the USA, Canada, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Switzerland, Estonia, and Italy. According to the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Mary Masanja, the applications from these companies were received by the Tanzania Forest Service Agency (TFS), Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (Tawa), Tanzania National Parks Authority (Tanapa) and Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA).

“We have already entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with some companies, and talks with others under the coordination of the National Carbon Monitoring Centre, are in progress,” said Mrs. Masanja.

The companies have decided to invest in the central government’s reserve forests, village forests, tree-planting programs, community-based wildlife management areas, and game reserves, among others.

Forest carbon offset projects in developing countries have received negative press in recent months due to released evidence that most of them are essentially not effective in generating either extra emissions avoidances or additional emissions reductions that wouldn’t have happened otherwise without the proceeds from the credits purchases.

For example, analysis by The Rainforest Foundation UK has shown that the record 90 million credits into the voluntary carbon market that Gabon issued last year, failed to represent any real reductions in carbon emissions or additional capture of carbon in its forests.

Both carbon credits buyers and project developers, including governments in developing countries, need to develop mechanisms that will serve to ensure the transparency and reliability of local projects, to eliminate a huge overhanging threat to the existence of the world’s nature-based carbon credit projects.

But ECOWAS including Nigeria and Ghana have never tolerated these kind of things especially when you hold a sitting president captive and do not release him.

Also, Nigeria especially doesn't want Wagner or Russian puppets in Niger because Nigeria is completing her gas pipeline soon and in collaboration with Bazoum, the project through Niger to Algeria was to be flawless.

Russia would not want such a project passing from Nigeria through Niger to Algeria and then Europe. The Algerian end has even been completed already.

France in exchange for Russia is the same difference at least with France you can make them behave to a certain extent but Russia hegemony using the Wagner group as their proxy isn't something that should be encouraged.

But the Ghanaian leader was part of the ECOWAS meeting. I don't think he objected to the decision. He also sent his service chief to the meeting of ECOWAS army chiefs in Abuja.

The hypocricy about this whole invasion thing stinks.

Those hypocrites at ECOWAS headquarters should come out and tell the World the difference between the Coups in Guinea, Mali, Burkina ,Niger VRS what Allassane Quattara and Faure Gnassinbge did in their respective countries?
ECOWAS can't keep cherry picking and expect all member countries to support their decisions.
