Facebook is cool but it is too pretentious. If a friend shows his or her family's picture with her/his spouse or kid looking like a monkey, you will see people shout ,"what a lovely family! You are great in that picture!" If a man shows the picture of his wife looking fatter than Yokozuna, rather than people telling him to advise his wife to lose weight, they will tell him she is so lovely. But on Nairaland, people say it the way they feel without trying to be nice. I am frequently on FB but can never be hooked to it for a long time, but NL can make me forget my job and read on for several hours. NL is ours and hot anyday. There is so much news, gossip, and pulse of the people on it. |

mbulela U re totally correct infact Ur post to me,is the realest here,U touched the real problem with NL. I am going to say this without any equivocation or fear, the only thing NL has going for it is the large number of Nigerian youths spiced up with the diaspora nothing more.In terms of innovation,NL is prostrating and begging for it,like mbulela rightly pointed out, threads that make it to the front page are usually gibberish and jejune for any serious minded person to want to contribute .And then U ve to worry about the new censorship campaign rife with heavy politicking and favouritism that make U want to curse Seun. As for those of us arguing that FB is fake and NL is real that is so not true.Infact,if there's any site with an avalenche of pretenders, it's NL.If U want a dutch courage without having to drink alcohol come to NL.FB is way mature and has entertaining innovations that NL does not have,it parades more mature and international audience and U got to control who U want to be friends with.NL is a one man business and is flawed with the usual diadvantages of a one man business. As much as I like NL,i don't think it can stand where FB stands. That is the fact. Mbulela thanks again for Ur candidness, lately, ppl have been afraid of speaking their mind because they fear they will get banned as if NL is their full time job.If anything we are doing them a favor. . . |

nairaland is informative, educative, expressive, competative and tantalizing, this is where the future of politicans make comments that will enhance the upliftment people and country at large, facebook is for entertainment, greetings, looking for who to love, infat it corrupt people so easily, that is what is it, no serious minded. |

For every nigerian i think nairaland should be no 1.the level of political, historic and current affairs information about nigeria on nairaland is unmatched.the most interesting is the eye witness infos from some members.eg when osuofia was kidnapped we got the info on nairaland before official announcement.kudos to Mr Osewa for nairaland. |

Some people are saying Nairaland tackle issues and that it is informative, BUT what is the use of the information when there is no action?? na mouth everybody get for here, many people are saying nairaland to do eye service, facebook is way beyond and it is even wrong to compare both. we talk of nigeria's problem here everyday but the forum is not changing anything. instead we attack each other because of our tribe, Nairaland is a good initiative though. BUT dont compare |

Nairaland is just a forum: Facebook is an all-in-one site There are millions of forums on the web: There is none like Facebook. The reason why nairaland is full of ill-mannered users is because anyone can misbehave, hiding behind funkified names. Such are afraid to be who they are. Now, this matter has be solved. You all should shut up and quit talking like your paid. |
