Goodmorning goodpeople. Thank God its friday, even though i have to work tomorrow still, but sha, thank God the week is ending. Thank God too, we now have bathable water. We paid a plumber to reconnect our old borehole since the new one was spewing horrid smelling, metallic water. Now my stress is reduced greatly. @axeman, have a safe flight back and ease up on the bottles o. Nigeria don lose enough good people. @iceblue, that tenancy bill no go see light of day. Do you know how many of the reps own houses in magodo and lekki? |

Re: Welcome To My House by Nobody: 11:12am On Apr 23, 2010 |
the worst part is that the law isn't even useful!! the 3-monthly rule applies to sitting tenants, not new ones. landlords can still treat new tenants however they like! |
Re: Welcome To My House by gmattutor: 11:26am On Apr 23, 2010 |
sometimes abi na everytime sef, this country just tire me.We shout corruption yet we task young people to bring 2 to 3 years rent amounting to millions just for a place to live. |
Re: Welcome To My House by axeman85(m): 1:18pm On Apr 23, 2010 |
thats the harsh reality of being a tenant in lagos . the law states 6months or 1 year or so. but in naija due to the greediness of landlords they charge 2/3yrs advance after after the expiration they always try to increase it higher, thats why i always advice people who want to rent to always start low so that when the landlord ncreases after the 2yrs it will still be affordable i got mine for like 300k/yr and 2yrs is 600k my neighbour who we pally well well, said after the 2yrs the landlord will increae it but it wont be that much. my landlord don live abroad before so i believe his mentality is different than the average naija landlord . well at least i hope so as so far so food, he has been alright. and doesnt ask tenants to pay for anything when things gets damaged. like when the scaffolding for water ranks collapsed. he reapired everything. |

Not all you save for it,the system down here is terrible, the law is not working youth are terorised/frustrated and the govt care less about the citizens.that is why over here we applaud every type of corruption as long as u are not caught.we pray God gives us a God fearing leaders. Re: Welcome To My House by Nobody: 6:04pm On Apr 23, 2010 |
na spam bot no gree me post the article. it says that the tenancy bill is thought erroneously to be favourable to people. the fact is that the bill wants to mandate that landlords collect not more than 3 months rent from a sitting tenant, i.e. an existing tenant, and says nothing about new tenants. that's why i said it's a make-e-no-be-like-say-we-no-dey-work bill, cos it's of no benefit to the thousands of new tenants every year. pls use the link above to visit the website. |

Re: Welcome To My House by BRIDE2B: 4:21am On Apr 24, 2010 |
Well am getting married soon but i've started thinking of changes to my Fiance's decor. not much but a woman's touch. He says i can start now but am insisting that the band must enter the finger first.lol Anyway i've got a lot of tips from this thread and will be posting my 'welcome to my house' soon. Meanwhile does anyone know where I can get an apartment on the Mainland that allows daily rental? My parents are coming to lagos for the wedding and my place is too small to accommodate them. For some reason, the idea of staying in a hotel for my wedding is freaking my dad out. |
Re: Welcome To My House by axeman85(m): 8:45am On Apr 24, 2010 |
BRIDE2B: congratulations on your wedding. pray the day meets you well in peace and good health. welcome to WTMH the one and only ever interesting thread on the Nairaland porperty section packed full with eloquent personalities. well in lagos its difficult to get such an accomodation especially when its not an HOTEL. if your folks have friends or families they can equally stay there. Personally over the past years when i always come to lagos, before getting my own place, i usually stay in an holiday apartment within MKO abiola gardens in Alausa. its a 2or 3bedroom apartment i think and its a flat. just you and whoever is with you and you cater for your foods, e.t.c. but the bill is around 12500k per day . if you are interested i can give you the info. |
Re: Welcome To My House by Nobody: 8:52am On Apr 24, 2010 |
axeman85: congrats on ur upcoming wedding babe! here's wishing you all of God's favour and more i was just going to say the same thing about hotels. alausa is a pretty place, moreso the MKO gardens. hopefully they won't mind the distance. |
