DictatorZAR: Ok, nigeria buys a lot of her arms from abroad, which is correct. However in country arms production accounts for a very huge proportion of hardware currently used. DICON(state owned), the army's engineering corps, the navy and PROFORCE(private) been the largest. There are a few smaller ones who manufacture most of the army's amphibious gun boats small and medium crafts, UAV's APV's APC's Up grades (armour and electronics) of all procured APC's and ILV's, tracked and wheeled. My compatriot was right 8 of nigeria's up graded alpha jets have been converted for maritime use. That is why they all have the new maritime camo shades *you should note that we are going to get 12 L-15 falcon. Jets that perform the same role as the alpha jets, but better. So it makes sense to convert the alpha's for maritime use. So Abeg don't school me Hahahah Abi.. This is correct. Abi also means isn't it, in addition to isn't there. |

Henry120: Even te rebels admited to taking heavy losses. Yet you think our forces where butcherd by farmers. I have given a number of diffrent sources on the battel one was even a rebel source. Yet you still act ignorant. Just over 200 solders killed arround 1000 heavly armend rebels. There base was never over run and they held out till the rebels asked for a cease fire. Those are facts yet you ignore them. It shows how closed your mind is. |

DictatorZAR: you lack information. Nigerian air force sent Alpha Jets to Germany for upgrade to full maritime combat capability in batches. First batch 4 jets completed and that's what beegeagle showcased that day. Second batch of another 4 went to Germany for similar upgrade. total budget provided for 10 Alpha jet upgrades to full maritime combat while still retaining their traditional ground attack role to support the army in land warfare. 8 Alpha jets upgraded already, budget divided for 10 jets upgrade, final 2 may be sent anytime. You opened your mouth and pour out ignorance and lack of information. Think before you talk next time . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:13pm On Apr 21, 2013 |
agaugust: So nigeria has 10 alpha jets. 8 with some kind of mairtime upgrade. Most likly in the radar they have. Could probally put a FLIR on them. Still only 10 jets. Or 6 since 4 are in germany. |

andrewza: I'm not closed minded. You do not expect me to take all those doctored figures from CAR as fact. I'm sorry I won't do that. You(your country) lied about casualty figures. The post/ links and video @patriot4 pasted here prove that zuma lied to himself and his fellow countrymen. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 4:17pm On Apr 21, 2013 |
andrewza: No reliable proof of your claims above. same way you want 100% guaranteed proofs that Nigerian navy fast patrol boats have missiles, Nigerian army armoured vehicles have missiles, Nigerian air force helicopter gunships have missiles. Now same way you have to provide 100% guaranteed proof from sources of journalists of neutral countries that independently verified the claims you make of CAR seleka rebels combat casualties numbers. Only then can we believe your claims. Since you believe every military thing has internet weblink sources and photographs. . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 4:25pm On Apr 21, 2013 |
Henry120: Proof they where docterd. Zuma never lied. He siad over 1000 solderd attacked the base. If you read the report I posted (cost only $2.99) you will see he never lied. The heavest fighting did not take place at the base where 1500 rebels attacked the support personal,SF and HQ unit. But 20km away where the parabat company and support platton held off the bulk of the enemy until they got attacked from behind. That is where mot of the losses where sufferd and where they where forced to abondon the vechiles. So zuma saying that the repelled a attack of over 1000 on the base is correct. Has is aying they where attacked by over 3000 rebels. I gave a source yet you call it propergander even though you have no proof. I even gave a source where a rebel captian admited to loosing half of his 500 strong group alone. Yet you still doubt. Only fools could still cling to that nostion that we did not give the rebels one hell of a bloody nose. |

Henry120: What that nonsense your french puppet posted please. Every international source from bbc/ccn/aljazeera including critical opposition led SA news papers and sites posted 13 dead 27 injured. The only sites that @patriot posted was rebel aligned french news papers, and if you don't know it by know SA and the French don't particular like each other, so why should we go about believing France who supports rebellions to regain there lost influence in francophone regimes. Go try that nonsense on a gullible fool who believes in tooth fairy's |

I have been following this thread for a while and i feel i need to intervene now. First off SA Defence Forces and Nigeria's Defence forces are not what i will call capable defense forces. Let me start with SA: SA’s military hardware is overrated. Apart from some APC which they developed locally they are no extremely significant military hardware they possess. The combat skill of the current SANDF boys leaves much to be desired as BEE (SA’s version of affirmative action) has ruined the competency of the SANDF. Most of the grippen jets that SA has are sitting in a warehouse somewhere and SA only has six capable pilots to fly the operational ones. The operational ones however are not armed as the SA government cannot afford to arm the grippens. Needless to say , the grippens are just for show and pose no threat to anyone. They also have a limited range so they cannot attack countries far away without having a place to refuel. The submarines which SA has have been in and out of the maintenance dock because of regular problems. Not too long ago, One of the submarines hit the bottom of the ocean due to human error (incompetence). On another occasion another submarine was grounded because an incompetent sailor replaced a dead fuse with a new one which had the wrong voltage. Yet again the incompetence of SANDF personal comes to bear. The recent defeat they suffered at the hands of CAR rebels mainly made up of farmers and teenagers also shows that they are not capable of fighting a full on war at the moment. In regards to the SA Army itself , their training is poor as incompetent soldiers(especially black ones)are promoted just because they are black and not because they are competent. The standard issue assault weapons of the SANDF is the R5 which is based on the Kalashnikov and is no march for the M4 carbine used by the US Army and other modernized Armies. The SANDF has no business fighting wars at this stage until they get their house in order, no amount of new shiny military toys can save them from defeat considering how incompetent their personnel is. No moving on to Nigeria First off the Nigerian Defence Force personnel have absolutely zero discipline. They behave like thugs when in the midst of civilians and like to disobey laws of the land. They are also brutal when handling civilian in civil disputes. I personally see them as a bunch of moronic thugs who bring disrepute to their uniforms. They are supposed to exude an air of pride and discipline but instead exude an air of terror when they engage civilians. The training given to Nigerian military personal especially the combatant ones is not professional but brutal. I feel that the instructor focus more on turning the men into hardened, bloodthirsty, above the law thugs instead of competent law abiding personnel. The Nigerian Military’s hardware. What hardware? Those Alpha jets are so ancient ,I am surprised they are still able to fly. Our pilots are also so fat that I am shocked that the Alpha can still lift up under such weight. Our tanks are also old as the last batch were bought during the babangida era. Many of them are gathering dust in various barracks all over Nigeria. Our Navy has an old flag ship which looks like it belongs in a museum and our DSS personnel (judging from the picture provided) are poorly equipped as well as undisciplined. The DSS are undisciplined because they wore T shirt and trousers with body armour. They are supposed to be in matching khaki pants with pouches ,khaki shirt and matching boots to look like a S.W.A.T team. Instead they look like security guards on a casual stroll. As for the new APCs which Nigeria has allegedly acquired, APC don’t win wars. They only transport personnel. The only thing Nigeria defence force has going for it is the ARMY. Our boys can fight even though they lack Military discipline and the ability to be civil in the midst of civilians. Any Military that wants to take on the Nigerian army without Air support will have a terribly tough time defeating us and that goes for even the US Army. P.S I am a Nigerian living in South Africa.I am proudly Nigerian but i detest BS!Frankly the attitude of some of the Nigerians and South Africans on this thread leaves much to be desired. It is like two ants arguing while the real elephants are quiet. |

andrewza: Nigeria has 24 Alpha Jets total. andrewza: Since niether side could launch a ground invasion I would not bother to simmult that. The attack would all was loose. Niether side can threaen each other by air either. So this will be left to the navy. i will respond to this post later, i want to do all navy, army, air force comabt, so i need more time to simulate real war and post my comment . . |

patriot4: You really know nothing about African armies. Right there is what i am talking about,People with little to offer always debate by exchanging insults instead of laying down facts. You say Nigeria has MOST of the hardware i mentioned. That means that Nigeria has at least 70% of the hardware i listed above? Does Nigeria have 4th or 5th generation fighters, submarines, Aircrafts carriers, Destroyers, Multiple rocket launchers, flame throwers , missile launchers, 5th generation tanks,5th generation battle cruisers? You just told a bold faced lie right there! In regards to discipline, do Nigerian soldiers not kill civilian extra judicially on the regular? Do Nigerian soldiers not break traffic rules on the regular? Do Nigerian soldier not abuse their power by subjecting Nigerian civilians to physical punishment like frog jump ? Another bold faced lie from you. It is people like you with your mentality of lying that makes Nigerians look like desperate con men. As much i love my country i am too honest to be telling silly tales about the Nigerian army. Go an research the Algerian military before you come here to start mouthing off about what you have zero clue about. Your ignorance about the Algerian Defence force shows that your scope on Military Knowledge is limited. Here, let me help you stop yourself delusion, here is a link to photos Algerian military hardware: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?130855-The-Algerian-Army By the way if you think Nigerian army personally are currently trained in the modern way then you are lost. There are tons and tons of military hardware and accessories that Nigerian military personnel cannot operate because they have not been trained to use them. The military gadgetry on a combat ready US army personnel will confuse even the smartest Nigerian Army personnel because we do not have those advanced gadgetry yet and we have never been trained to use. There many military strategies combined with specific military used by NATO forces that the Nigerian Military has zero clue about. Stop .deluding yourself and face facts Check out the training giving to the Algerian forces on the link above.A car is driven over their bellies and they are trained in martial art of Krav Maga which was created by Israeli special forces.Just take a look at the photos before boasting! |

And it seems to me that to you training is reduced to krav maga and a car driving over your tommy. You are either a child or a fool. |

playmode:You have a lot to learn. I don't know if you are aware but the military is not a video game, there is no standard Equipment that all armies must have. And if you give a chinese military Equipment to a US soldier then the US soldier wouldn't be able to handle it. Equipments are different when you go from one army to an other. I would like to direct you to beageagles blog. You are talking with a lot of ignorance. And it is pretty clear you know almost nothing about militaries. |

Jeez for someone who talks like he knows everything about modern militaries you sound naive. Dude,i only deal with facts not fantasy tales. The Algerian army has modernized Migs 29 which can level Lagos and Abuja within days with missiles, submarines which can launch an attack on Nigeria from the sea ,destroyers that can pound Nigeria from the sea. NNS Aradu will be sunk in a minute by an undetectable submarine.I am done exchanging with you ,have a good night.

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 9:36pm On Apr 21, 2013 |
@ All Playmode is being deceived by the development of SA infrastructure and think that is what fighting war is all about. The over-exaggeration of SA military is not commensurate with fact of things on ground. All the people know how to do is display shiny military hardware and leave aside the most important thing the officers training for the most extreme environments. I doubt SA army will be able to have a good fight in the swamps and master the act of combating with consistency. Unlike the desert where most of the fighting will depends on air launches and strategic decoy and moving forward approach, the SA forces are quite used to, the swamp has a lot of covers and it is difficult for aircraft to get precise targets and those on land tend be comforted by thinking they are hidden while the rebels hidden as well by the scrubs are familiar with their geographic being a bonus to their ability than any SA force(not a reference to the CAR incidence). Seriously, SA army has no capacity to fight in a forested environment and expected to win. That we have witnessed in the CAR situation that left the rebels to hold their ground while the manhandled SA forces retreated for reinforcement which never happened. I dare them try another attempt of such again and might end them up of their whole forces being decimated. SA are fond of flaunting their military hardware and how much they have contributed to the technology that power them, yet they possess no manpower equal the Nigerians and as such to make any difference with these technological contributions in the field of military power for their own victory. |

Obiagelli: @ playmode go back to previous pages and learn about Africa's military hardware bf spewing Crap Thank you obiagelli. Welcome to the thread. The nigerian military is very well trained. Our officers at the national defence college are amongst the best anywhere in the world. They continually develop manuals based on experiences gained from fighting wars abroad and at home. NADCEL (nigerian army celebrations) last year provided nigerians the opportunity to see the army's counter terrorism techniques. I also provided pictures to buttress. So wait for this years army day, hopefully the army high command would provide nigerians with another visual treat. then nigerians can compare with visuals of american forces. The algerians killed both hostages and terrorist early this year at a gas plant. Attacking a highly in flammable facility with MI-35 gunships. This is the sort of training a dunce wants us to have. War on terror The army or SSS has killed or arrested more terrorist than any security service in indonesia combined. The indonesia detachment 88 is widely regarded as one of the world's most effective special forces group. They receive millions of dollars worth of military aid from the US every year, also seperate are gadgets and military training from navy seals. Now when we compare that agency with that of our own DSS, the DSS has under 2 short years been able to score more mission achievements than the detachment 88 can muster in all her existence. Anybody who comes here and says the DSS is not well trained or armed/ kitted, isn't worth my time. I'd rather ignore the mofo. |
