LBT: the tape are not on the AK47 they are used to tape 2 to 3 magazines together for quick use during combat; a rusty AK47 of 60years works better than american or western rifles the only problem is accuracy.

Yeah, it's a practice that has stuck to the military. Even when their body armour provides compartments for MAGs, soldiers still tie tapes around their MAGs, usually 3 MAGs. The advantage as you have pointed out is, you can change MAGs in an intense fire-fight, in under 1 second. That second could be the difference between life and death.

The AK-47 remains one of worlds top 10 assault rifle. It is still very accurate within 300 meters, and the stopping power that rifle gives a soldier is un-rivaled. Extremely efficient and very durable.

Even if am an advocate for a change of rifle by the army, I cannot deny that the AK-47 isn't in a top class of it's own.

Nigerian army built technology leads Africa

nigerian military forces will now watch all south african air force aircraft, missiles in the air and all south african army soldiers on the ground, as well as all south african navy warships on the oceans from above them in outer space like a television, and far beyond range out of reach of any south african weapon attack

nigeria has technological superiority over south africa and all other african nations from cape town to cairo, in strategic and tactical spying, reconnaissance and 24 hour monitoring/tracking and intelligence information, with 3 modern high power and high image quality space satellites and these new nigerian army domestically manufactured high-tech spy balloons newly launched into outer space to stay at about 300,000km above the earth.

winning a war is not all about manufacturing weapons with ranges extra 10km longer than other countries, war involves both ammunition and information.

Nigerian army builds new hi-tech spy devices launched into space 300,000 feet above earth

may 18, 2013 breaking news

The Nigeria Army said it has developed intelligent devices that will tackle the Boko Haram insurgency.
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday boasted that it has developed hi-tech devices capable of gathering information and intelligence to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency and other acts of terrorism across the country.
The General Officer Commanding, 2 Div., Ibadan, Ahmed Tijani, made the disclosure at a lecture held at the Army formations headquarters in Ibadan.

Major General Ahmed Tijani GOC 2 Division of Nigerian Army, said the sophisticated devices, in form of balloons, were unveiled in 2012. they have the capabilities of both spy aeroplanes and spy satellites, and will be used to monitor troop movements and regiment size, and gather other different types of military combat intelligence.

According to Mr. Tijani, the technology has been upgraded and has a 84 kilometer launch into space.

The Guest Speaker, Brigadier General Nwokoro Ijioma, spoke on the theme, “Transforming the army into a force better able to meet contemporary challenges”.

He said the balloons would be deplored to the hotbeds of terrorism attacks in the country.
Thousands of Nigerians have been killed by insurgents in Northern Nigeria; particularly by the Boko Haram sect.

i said it this morning, south african weapons manufacturing is no longer better than nigeria because each country has chosen what it wants to build for according to its own different defense policy, plans, and needs.

time proves me right again. i said on this forum that nigeria is developing secret weapons including long range missiles already test fired to 120km range at Epe coastal lagoon area of lagos state. now who know what nigerian military has reserved for a big surprise to its e.nemy ? south africa is NO threat to nigeria, they just make a lot of noise and photo/videos. nigeria is a secretive unbeatable military power on the whole african continent.

in addition to nigerian satellites, these new space devices now enables nigerian army to further its monitoring of all south african Gripen jets in flight down below it and all south african paveway or umbani guided bombs and missiles, and also another method of targeting and sinking the whole south african navy in any naval blockade attempt with artillery from the coast or from nigerian navy's 12 blue water warships NNS ARADU, NNS THUNDER 1, NNS THUNDER 2, NNS ENRINMI, NNS ENYIMIRI, NNS ANYAM, NNS SIRI, NNS EKUN, and the FOUR BRAND NEW STEALTH GUIDED MISSILE FRIGATE arriving from next year 2014.

Nigeria now climbs to the top of new current african military ranking...shares number one rank with Egypt.

it is now proved that nigeria has many unkown secret military high technology equipment, hardware and weapons to defeat any country in africa from cape town to cairo.

long live the giant of africa ! God bless nigeria.

Then just admit you made a mistake and keep quiet. Your F7 jets are useless by anyone's standards. Your F7 jets have to greatly reduce speed to maneuver. Your Nigerian generals bought missiles with a range further than your F7 radar, that is stupid to say the least. Let's us wait and see if any well known institutions congratulate nigeria on 84km.

Wow. Didn't realise how much power there is in the truth grin So many hurt people. Don't even know who to respond to and not to respond to.

@Msauza, it's not just @NaijaPigoon-goon who wishes to deny the South African connection, but every Naai-geerian in Lagos does. Every single one of them wishes they could. Ask them who taught them how to shop grin Never mind where or what for...

Now, they are like an angry woman who's upset because she wishes she could stop loving the man who pulled her out the pit. But she can't. So, she talks and talks and talks - to all who care to listen.

Desperately trying to hate the fact that we made them modern consumers when they previously weren't. Desperately wishing they'd found their own path to civilisation. But alas, history is history. It cannot be changed, no matter how many posts you put up on Naai-raland. Naai-geria's path to civilisation is via South Africa. Period.

So painful is this thought that the only way to deal with it is to start and live inside threads about South Africa every single day. Talking the pain away. "Are we really better than South Africa? Have we caught up?" is the theme. Everyday.

But still, despite the desperate cries, history refuses to wash away. kiss

if the target/enemy starts runs away, or fly evasive maneuvers within the F-7 jet radar's range, the F-7 jet missile has enough range to keep pursuing it untill the faster missile speed catches up with target and destroys. you dont know air to air jets 'dog fight' tactics, so sharaaap ! angry

And any modern air force will just stay out of your useless F7 radar range and your missiles will be blind. They will fire on you before you even know they are even there. Keep dreaming if you think F7 will only face helicopters in battle. Stop talking about your piece of junk F7. The biggest mistake the NAF has ever made.

"With its delta wings the aircraft has an excellent fast-climbing performance, but any form of turning combat would led to rapid loss of speed. The pilot is buried deeply in the cockpit and has a poor cockpit visibility. The aircraft has a short range, and can only take IR-homing short-range air-to-air missiles for visual range combat, making it only suitable for point air defence."

nigerian F-7 jets are still the best combat aircraft among 40 african countries, only 8 have any jet that is better, and its because those countries face air threat in their regions or they have weaker air defences than nigeria has.

no country in our west africa region can match nigerian F-7 jets, and for the 8 countries outside our region with better jets...nigeria has a formidable and impenetrable anti-aircraft air defenses :

16 Roland SAM with 300 missiles to fire in 5 minutes
30 Shilka Anti-Aircraft Guns
48 Blowpipe SAM with hundreds of missiles
100 SA-7 SAM with maybe thousands of missiles

very many radar guided Bofors Anti-Aircraft guns
very many modern TYPE 90 Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Missile guns

very modern AKASH SAM....coming from india

all operating under a TRACON nationwide 100% radar coverage shield with 500km target tracking range

none of the 8 african countries with better jets than F-7 can survive inside nigerian air space, all enemy aircraft will be made to R.I.P.

AKASH is comming...nigeria's new d.eadly anti-aircraft missiles

establishes the fact that nigeria has a powerful air defense system to compensate for the weakness of F-7 jets

establishes the fact that nigeria has no current threat that requires buying Gripen jets that half will end up in a cold freezer long term storage because of lack of money to maintain them and train qualified pilots like south africa groans under the pain of heavy Gripen expenses

establishes the fact that nigeria uses its head more than south africa in weapons purchases

nigeria bought F-7 jet it has dis-assembled and re-assembled totally at random...we already produce some of its spare parts locally, we will copy it and build a jet engine air craft....same way china rose to power of technology.

also, F-7 jet is a temporary stop-gap jet for nigeria, JF-17 Thunder Block II equal to Gripen is being considered, no rush, we dont need it now.

@augaugust.I tried to imagine if SA were to start a naval blockade and Egyptian Airforce begin air strikes on Nigerian territory at the same time.would we still survive.and pull few stunts to take them out.what are the chances of survival for Nigeria.what retaliatory methods would be employed?just thinking sha.
If the US were to invade our waters with their SUBS and the best of their armoury. How would Nigerian Defence Force reclaim its dignity?
